列王紀下

第1章

1 亞哈死後，摩押背叛以色列。

2 亞哈謝在撒瑪利亞，一日從樓上的欄杆裏掉下來，就病了；於是差遣使者，對他們［unto them］說：「你們去問以革倫的神巴力．西卜，我這病能好不能好。」

3 但耶和華的天使［angel］對提斯比人以利亞說：「你起來，去迎著撒瑪利亞王的使者，對他們說：『你們去問以革倫神巴力．西卜，豈因以色列中沒有神嗎？』

4 所以耶和華如此說：『你必不下你那［that］所上的床，倒［but］定要死。』」以利亞就去了。

5 使者回來見王，王問他們說：「你們為甚麼回來呢？」

6 使者回答說：「有一個人迎著我們來，對我們說：『你們回去見差你們來的王，對他說：耶和華如此說，你差人去問以革倫神巴力．西卜，豈因以色列中沒有神嗎？所以你必不下所上的床，必定要死。』」

7 王問他們說：「迎著你們來告訴你們這些［these］話的，是怎樣的人？」

8 回答說：「他身穿毛衣，腰束皮帶。」王說：「這必是提斯比人以利亞。」

9 於是，王差遣五十夫長，帶領五十人去見以利亞。他就上到以利亞那裏；見［behold］以利亞正坐在山頂上。五十夫長對他說：「你這［Thou］神的人哪，王說［said］：『你下來。』」

10 以利亞回答五十夫長［captain of fifty］說：「我若是神的人，願火從天上降下來，燒滅你和你那五十人。」於是有火從天上降下來，燒滅五十夫長和他那五十人。

11 王又［Again］差遣一個五十夫長，帶領五十人去見以利亞。五十夫長對以利亞回答［answered］說：「神的人哪，王如此［thus］說［said］：『你快快下來。』」

12 以利亞回答他們［them］說：「我若是神的人，願火從天上降下來，燒滅你和你那五十人。」於是神的火從天上降下來，燒滅五十夫長和他那五十人。

13 王第三次差遣一個五十夫長，帶領五十人去。這五十夫長上去，雙膝跪在以利亞面前，哀求他說：「神的人哪，願我的性命和你這五十個僕人的性命在你眼前看為寶貴。

14 看哪［Behold］，已經有火從天上降下來，燒滅前兩次來的五十夫長和他們各自帶的五十人；現在願我的性命在你眼前看為寶貴。」

15 耶和華的天使［angel］對以利亞說：「你同著他下去，不要怕他。」以利亞就起來，同著他下去見王，

16 對王說：耶和華如此說：「『你差人去問以革倫神巴力．西卜，豈因以色列中沒有神可以求問嗎？所以你必不下離那［off that］所上的床，倒［but］定要死。』」

17 亞哈謝果然死了，正如耶和華藉以利亞所說的話。因他沒有兒子，他兄弟約蘭接續他作王，正在猶大王約沙法的兒子約蘭第二年。

18 亞哈謝其餘所行的事，不［not］都寫在以色列諸王記上嗎？

2 Kings

Chapter 1

1 THEN Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.

2 And Ahaziah fell down from the balcony of his upper chamber in Samaria, and was injured; so he sent messengers and said to them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover from this injury.

3 But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them, Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?

4 Now therefore thus says the LORD: You shall not come down from the bed on which you are lying, but you shall surely die. And Elijah departed.

5 And when the messengers returned to Ahaziah, he said to them, Why have you turned back?

6 And they said to him, A man came up to meet us and said to us, Go, turn again to the man who sent you and say to him, Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? Therefore thus says the LORD: You shall not come down from the bed on which you are lying, but you shall surely die.

7 And he said to them, What manner of man was he who came up to meet you and told you these words?

8 And they answered him, He was a hairy man and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said to them, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

9 Then he sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him; and he was sitting on top of a mountain. And he said to him, O prophet of God, the king says, Come down.

10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I am a prophet of God, then let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty. And there came down fire from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.

11 Again he sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he spoke to him, saying, O prophet of God, thus says the king, Come down quickly.

12 And Elijah answered and said to him, If I am a prophet of God, then let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.

13 And he sent again to him the third time a captain of fifty with his fifty. And the captain of fifty went up and fell on his knees before Elijah and besought him and said to him, O prophet of God, let my life and the lives of these fifty servants of yours who are standing before you be precious in your sight.

14 For behold, there came fire down from heaven and consumed the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties; therefore let now my life be precious in your sight.

15 And the angel of the LORD said to Elijah, Go down with him; be not afraid of him. And he arose and went down with him to the king.

16 And he said to him, Thus says the LORD: Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire for his word? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed on which you are lying, but you shall surely die.

17 So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Joram, his brother, reigned in his stead in the second year of Joram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, because he had no son.

18 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah and all which he did, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

14 看哪［Behold］，已經有火從天上降下來，燒滅前兩次來的五十夫長和他們各自帶的五十人；現在願我的性命在你眼前看為寶貴。」

14 For behold, there came fire down from heaven and consumed the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties; therefore let now my life be precious in your sight.

15 耶和華的天使［angel］對以利亞說：「你同著他下去，不要怕他。」以利亞就起來，同著他下去見王，

15 And the angel of the LORD said to Elijah, Go down with him; be not afraid of him. And he arose and went down with him to the king.

16 對王說：耶和華如此說：「『你差人去問以革倫神巴力．西卜，豈因以色列中沒有神可以求問嗎？所以你必不下離那［off that］所上的床，倒［but］定要死。』」

16 And he said to him, Thus says the LORD: Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire for his word? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed on which you are lying, but you shall surely die.

17 亞哈謝果然死了，正如耶和華藉以利亞所說的話。因他沒有兒子，他兄弟約蘭接續他作王，正在猶大王約沙法的兒子約蘭第二年。

17 So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Joram, his brother, reigned in his stead in the second year of Joram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, because he had no son.

18 亞哈謝其餘所行的事，不［not］都寫在以色列諸王記上嗎？

18 Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah and all which he did, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
