Das zweite Buch der Chronik

Kapitel 21

1 Und3092 Josaphat entschlief7901 mit seinen Vätern1 und ward begraben6912 bei seinen Vätern1 in der Stadt5892 Davids1732; und sein Sohn1121 Joram3088 ward König4427 an seiner Statt.

2 Und3092 er hatte Brüder251, Josaphats Söhne1121, Asarja5838, Jehiel3171, Sacharja2148, Asarja5838, Michael4317 und3092 Sephatja8203; diese waren alle Kinder1121 Josaphats, des Königs4428 Judas.

3 Und ihr Vater1 gab5414 ihnen viel7227 Gaben4979 von Silber3701, Gold2091 und Kleinod mit festen4694 Städten5892 in Juda3063; aber das Königreich4467 gab er Joram3088, denn der war der Erstgeborne.

4 Da aber Joram3088 aufkam6965 über das Königreich4467 seines Vaters1 und sein mächtig ward, erwürgete er2388 seine Brüder251 alle mit dem Schwert2719, dazu auch etliche Oberste8269 in Israel3478.

5 Zweiunddreißig8147 Jahre8141 alt1121 war Joram3088, da er König4427 ward4427, und regierete acht8083 Jahre8141 zu Jerusalem3389.

6 Und256 wandelte in dem7451 Wege1870 der Könige4428 Israels3478, wie das Haus1004 Ahab256 getan6213 hatte6213, denn Ahabs Tochter1323 war sein3212 Weib802; und tat, das dem HErrn3068 übel gefiel5869.

7 Aber der HErr3068 wollte14 das Haus1004 David1732 nicht verderben7843 um des Bundes1285 willen, den er mit David1732 gemacht3772 hatte559, und wie er geredet hatte, ihm eine Leuchte5216 zu geben5414 und seinen Kindern1121 immerdar3117.

8 Zu seiner Zeit3117 fielen6586 die Edomiter123 ab von Juda3063 und4428 machten über sich3027 einen König4427.

9 Denn Joram3088 war5674 hinübergezogen mit seinen Obersten8269, und alle Wagen7393 mit ihm, und hatte sich6965 des Nachts3915 aufgemacht und die Edomiter123 um5437 ihn her und die Obersten8269 der Wagen7393 geschlagen5221.

10 Darum fielen6586 die Edomiter123 ab von3027 Juda3063 bis auf diesen Tag3117. Zur selben Zeit6256 fiel6586 Libna3841 auch von3027 ihm ab. Denn er verließ5800 den HErrn3068, seiner Väter1 GOtt430.

11 Auch machte6213 er Höhen1116 auf den Bergen2022 in Juda3063 und machte die3427 zu Jerusalem3389 huren2181 und verführete Juda3063.

12 Es kam935 aber Schrift4385 zu ihm von dem Propheten5030 Elia452, die lautete also: So spricht559 der HErr3068, der GOtt430 deines Vaters1 David1732: Darum daß du559 nicht gewandelt hast1980 in den Wegen1870 deines Vaters1 Josaphat3092 noch in den Wegen1870 Assas, des Königs4428 Judas,

13 sondern wandelst3212 in dem Wege1870 der Könige4428 Israels3478 und machest, daß Juda3063 und die3427 zu Jerusalem3389 huren2181 nach der Hurerei2181 des Hauses1004 Ahab256, und hast dazu deine Brüder251 deines Vaters1 Hauses1004 erwürget2026, die besser2896 waren denn du,

14 siehe, so wird dich der HErr3068 mit einer großen1419 Plage4046 schlagen5062 an deinem Volk5971, an deinen Kindern1121, an deinen Weibern802 und an all deiner Habe7399.

15 Du aber wirst viel7227 Krankheit2483 haben in deinem Eingeweide4578, bis daß dein Eingeweide4578 vor Krankheit4245 herausgehe von3318 Tage3117 zu Tage3117.

16 Also erweckte5782 der HErr3068 wider Joram3088 den Geist7307 der Philister6430 und Araber6163, die3027 neben den Mohren3569 liegen;

17 und zogen herauf5927 nach Juda3063 und zerrissen1234 sie4672 und führeten weg7604 alle Habe7399, die vorhanden war7617 im Hause1004 des Königs4428, dazu seine Söhne1121 und seine Weiber802, daß ihm kein Sohn1121 überblieb, ohne Joahas3059, sein jüngster6996 Sohn1121.

18 Und nach310 dem allem plagte5062 ihn der HErr3068 in seinem Eingeweide4578 mit solcher Krankheit2483, die nicht zu heilen4832 war.

19 Und8316 da das währete von3318 Tage3117 zu Tage3117, als die Zeit6256 zweier Jahre um war, ging sein Eingeweide4578 von3318 ihm mit5973 seiner Krankheit2483, und8316 er starb4191 an bösen7451 Krankheiten. Und sie8147 machten nicht über7093 ihm einen Brand, wie sie5971 seinen Vätern1 getan6213 hatten.

20 Zweiunddreißig Jahre8141 alt1121 war2532 er, da er König4427 ward4427, und regierete acht8083 Jahre zu Jerusalem3389 und wandelte, daß nicht fein war. Und sie8147 begruben6912 ihn in der Stadt5892 Davids1732, aber nicht unter3212 der Könige4428 Gräber6913.

Chapter 21

1 NOW Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

2 And he had brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat, and these are their names: Azariah, Nahjaiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Malchael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Judah.

3 And their father gave them great gifts of silver and of gold, and many other gifts, with fortified cities in Judah; but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram because he was his first-born.

4 Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself and slew all his brothers in the battle and also slew some of the elders of Israel.

5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

6 And he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for Ahab's sister was his wife; and he did that which was evil in the presence of the LORD.

7 However the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David anti because he had promised to give an heir to him and to his sons for ever.

8 In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.

9 Then Jehoram crossed over the Jordan with his princes, and all his chariots with him; and he rose up by night and smote the Edomites who had surrounded him and the captains of the chariots.

10 So the Edomites revolted from the dominion of Judah to this day. At the same time also did the Edomites who dwelt in Libnah revolt from his rule, because Jehoram had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

11 Moreover he made shrines on high places in the mountains of Judah and caused the Nazarites of Jerusalem to drink wine and scattered the house of Judah.

12 And there was brought to him a letter from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says the LORD God of David your father: Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

13 But have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and have caused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go astray with the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also have Main your brothers, your father's sons, who were better than yourself;

14 Behold, the LORD will smite you with a great plague, together with your people, your children, your wives, and all your goods;

15 And you yourself shall die with a severe sickness; and you shall be consumed with a great torment until your bowels fall out because of your sickness. And you shall be tormented for many years.

16 Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians who dwelt near the Ethiopians;

17 And they came up against Judah and smote it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also and his wives; so that no son was left to him except Ahaziah his youngest son.

18 And after all this he was smitten in his bowels with an incurable disease.

19 And it came to pass that in the process of time, after the end of two years, the word of the prophet was fulfilled, his bowels fell out because of his sickness; so he died of sore disease. And his people did not honor him with a funeral according to the manner they had done for his fathers.

20 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem, and his departure was not regretted. And he was buried in the city of David his father, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
