2 Und1121 tat5493, das dem HErrn3068 übel gefiel5869, und wandelte den Sünden2403 nach310 Jerobeams3379, des Sohns Nebats5028, der Israel3478 sündigen2398 machte6213, und ließ nicht7451 davon3212.

3 Und1121 des HErrn3068 Zorn639 ergrimmete über Israel3478 und3117 gab5414 sie3027 unter die Hand3027 Hasaels2371, des Königs4428 zu Syrien758, und Benhadads1130, des Sohns Hasaels2371, ihr2734 Leben lang.

4 Aber Joahas3059 bat2470 des HErrn3068 Angesicht. Und der HErr3068 erhörete ihn6440; denn er sah7200 den Jammer3906 Israels3478 an, wie sie3905 der König4428 zu8085 Syrien758 drängete.

5 Und der HErr3068 gab5414 Israel3478 einen Heiland3467, der sie3027 aus3318 der Gewalt der Syrer758 führete, daß die3427 Kinder1121 Israel3478 in ihren Hütten168 wohneten, wie vorhin.

6 Doch ließen sie5493 nicht von der Sünde2403 des Hauses1004 Jerobeams3379, der Israel3478 sündigen2398 machte, sondern wandelten drinnen. Auch blieb1980 stehen5975 der Hain842 zu Samaria8111.

7 Denn es war7604 des Volks5971 Joahas3059 nicht mehr überblieben denn fünfzig2572 Reiter6571, zehn6235 Wagen7393 und zehntausend6235 Fußvolks. Denn der König4428 zu Syrien758 hatte7760 sie505 umgebracht6 und hatte sie gemacht wie Drescherstaub.

8 Was aber mehr von Joahas3059 zu sagen ist3789, und3499 alles, was er getan6213 hat, und3117 seine Macht1369, siehe, das1697 ist geschrieben in der Chronik5612 der Könige4428 Israels3478.

9 Und Joahas3059 entschlief7901 mit seinen Vätern1, und man begrub6912 ihn zu Samaria8111. Und sein Sohn1121 Joas3101 ward König4427 an seiner Statt.

10 Im siebenunddreißigsten7651 Jahr8141 Joas3101 des Königs Judas, ward4427 Joas3060, der Sohn1121 Joahas3059 König4428 über Israel3478 zu Samaria8111 sechzehn Jahre8141.

14 Elisa477 aber ward krank2470, daran er auch starb4191. Und Joas3101, der König4428 Israels3478, kam zu ihm hinab3381 und weinete vor6440 ihm und sprach559: Mein Vater1, mein Vater1, Wagen7393 Israels3478, und seine Reiter6571!

15 Elisa477 aber sprach559 zu ihm: Nimm3947 den Bogen7198 und Pfeile2671! Und da er den Bogen7198 und die Pfeile2671 nahm3947,

16 sprach559 er zum Könige4428 Israels3478: Spanne7392 mit deiner Hand3027 den Bogen7198! Und er spannete mit seiner Hand3027. Und Elisa477 legte7760 seine Hand3027 auf des Königs4428 Hand3027

17 und sprach559: Tue das Fenster2474 auf6605 gegen Morgen6924! Und er3384 tat6605 es auf3615. Und Elisa477 sprach559: Schieße! Und er3384 schoß. Er aber sprach559: Ein Pfeil2671 des Heils8668 vom HErrn3068, ein Pfeil2671 des Heils8668 wider die Syrer758; und du wirst die Syrer758 schlagen5221 zu Aphek663, bis sie aufgerieben sind.

18 Und5975 er sprach559: Nimm3947 die Pfeile2671! Und da er sie nahm3947, sprach559 er zum Könige4428 Israels3478: Schlage5221 die Erde776! Und er schlug5221 dreimal6471 und stund stille.

19 Da ward der Mann376 Gottes430 zornig7107 auf3615 ihn und sprach559: Hättest du5221 fünf-2568 oder sechsmal8337 geschlagen, so würdest du5221 die Syrer758 geschlagen haben, bis sie aufgerieben wären; nun aber wirst du sie dreimal6471 schlagen5221.

20 Da aber Elisa gestorben4191 war935, und man ihn begraben6912 hatte935, fielen die Kriegsleute1416 der Moabiter4124 ins Land776 desselben Jahres8141.

21 Und es begab sich, daß sie einen6106 Mann376 begruben6912; da sie aber die Kriegsleute1416 sahen7200, warfen7993 sie den Mann376 in Elisas477 Grab6913. Und da er376 hin3212 kam und die Gebeine Elisas477 anrührete, ward5060 er lebendig2421 und trat auf6965 seine Füße7272.

22 Also zwang3905 nun Hasael2371, der König4428 zu Syrien758, Israel3478, solange Joahas3059 lebte3117.

23 Aber der HErr3068 tat ihnen Gnade2603 und erbarmete sich7355 ihrer und wandte sich zu ihnen um4616 seines Bundes1285 willen mit Abraham85, Isaak3327 und Jakob3290; und wollte14 sie nicht verderben7843, verwarf7993 sie auch nicht von seinem Angesicht6437 bis5704 auf6440 diese Stunde.

24 Und Hasael2371, der König4428 zu Syrien758, starb4191, und sein Sohn1121 Benhadad1130 ward König4427 an seiner Statt.

25 Joas3060 aber kehrete um7725 und1121 nahm3947 die Städte5892 aus der Hand3027 Benhadads1130, des Sohns Hasaels2371, die er aus der Hand3027 seines Vaters1 Joahas3059 genommen hatte mit Streit4421. Dreimal7969 schlug5221 ihn Joas3101 und1121 brachte3947 die Städte5892 Israels3478 wieder7725.

Chapter 13

1 IN the twenty-third year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned seventeen years.

2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD and followed in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin; he did not turn aside from them.

3 And the anger of the LORD kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram and into the hand of Bar-hadad the son of Hazael, all their days.

4 And Jehoahaz prayed before the LORD, and the LORD hearkened to him; for he saw the suffering of Israel, because the king of Aram oppressed them.

5 (And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of Aram; and the children of Israel dwelt securely in their tents as beforetime.

6 Nevertheless they did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin, but walked in them; and also the idol worship remained in Samaria.)

7 There was not left much of an army to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen and ten chariots and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Aram had destroyed them and had made them like the dust under his feet.

8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz and all that he did and his might, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

9 And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria; and Jehoash his son reigned in his stead.

10 fin the thirty-seventh year of Joash king of Judah, Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz began to reign over Israel in Samaria and he reigned thirteen years.

11 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not turn aside from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin; but he walked therein.

12 And the rest of the acts of Jehoash and all that he did and his might and how he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

13 And Jehoash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam his son sat upon his throne; and Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

14 Now Elisha was fallen ill of the sickness of which he was to die. And Jehoash the king of Israel came down to him and wept in his presence and said, O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof!

15 And Elisha said to him, Take a bow and arrows. And he took a bow and arrows.

16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put your hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it; and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.

17 And he said, Open the window to the east. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD'S deliverance and the arrow of the deliverance from Aram; for you shall smite the Arameans in Aphek till you have consumed them.

18 And he said to him, Take an arrow. And he took it. And he said, Strike upon the ground. And he struck three times and stopped.

19 And the prophet of God was angry with him and said, You should have struck five or six times; then you would have smitten the Arameans till you would have consumed them; whereas now you shall smite Aram but three times.

20 And Elisha died and they buried him. And bands of the Moabites invaded the land that very year.

21 And it came to pass as they were burying a man, behold, a band of raiders was seen; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood up on his feet.

22 But Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

23 And the LORD was gracious to them and had compassion on them, and returned to them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither did he cast them from his presence as yet.

24 So Hazael king of Aram died; and Bar-hadad his son reigned in his stead.

25 Then Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again from Bar-hadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken from Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Jehoash defeat him, and restored the cities to Israel.

20 And Elisha died and they buried him. And bands of the Moabites invaded the land that very year.

21 And it came to pass as they were burying a man, behold, a band of raiders was seen; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood up on his feet.

25 Then Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again from Bar-hadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken from Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Jehoash defeat him, and restored the cities to Israel.
