1 Взгляни, Господь уничтожает эту землю и полностью опустошает её. Господь принудит живущих на ней уйти в далёкие края.
2 И все будут равны: простые люди и священники, рабы и слуги, рабыня и её хозяйка, торговец и покупающий товар, ростовщики и берущие в долг.
3 Все будут принуждены уйти, а богатства будут разграблены, потому что так повелел Господь.
4 Страна опустеет и уныние охватит народ. Земля, прежде населённая, зачахнет и станет бесплодной, а великие правители лишатся силы.
5 Люди осквернили землю, отступая от наставлений Божьих. Они не подчинялись Его законам и нарушили вечное соглашение.
6 Живущие на этой земле виновны в том, что поступали неверно, и за это Бог обещал разрушить их землю и наказать людей. Лишь немногие уцелеют.
7 Виноградники гибнут, молодое вино пропадает, кто прежде веселился, теперь печален.
8 Никто не изъявляет радость, умолкло веселие, музыка барабанов и арф теперь не слышна.
9 Никто не пьёт вино с радостными песнями, горьки напитки для пьющих!
10 «Полное смятение» — вот лучшее название для этого города. Город разрушен, и люди не могут вернуться в дома,
11 так как двери завалены. Люди ищут вино на рынках, но счастье ушло, и радости больше нет.
12 Лишь разрушение осталось, даже ворота разбиты.
13 Когда собирают маслины, на ветвях остаётся несколько плодов. Так будет и с этой землёй.
14 Оставшиеся в живых будут восклицать, а их голос будет громче шума океана. Они будут славить величие Господа.
15 И скажут они: «Люди востока, Господа восхваляйте, люди далёких земель, восхваляйте имя Господа, Бога Израиля».
16 Мы песнь восхваления услышим со всех краёв земли. В них будет хвала доброте Господней. Но я говорю: «Довольно! То, что я вижу, ужасно! Люди предали свой народ и тем самым принесли ему боль и страдания.
17 Я вижу беду, выпавшую на долю жителей этой земли. Повсюду я вижу страх, западни и горе.
18 Услышит народ об опасности и побежит, но многие провалятся в ямы, а кто выберется из ямы, попадёт в другие ловушки». Врата небесные откроются, и нахлынут многочисленные наводнения, и содрогнётся основание земли.
19 Начнутся землетрясения, и появятся проломы в земле!
20 Грехи земли тяжелы, поэтому земля содрогнётся как старое здание и рухнет как пьяный, и уже не встанет.
21 И будет Господь судить Небесное войско на небе, а на земле — земных царей.
22 И соберут многих, и часть из них будет зарыта в яме, а часть заключена в темницу, и после многих дней все они будут осуждены.
23 Господь будет править как царь Сиона и Иерусалима, и слава Его будет явлена вождям. Эта слава будет настолько ярка, что устыдятся даже солнце и луна.
