Книга Иова

Глава 1

1 Однажды жил человек по имени Иов в стране Уц. Он был хорошим и верующим человеком, он поклонялся Богу и сторонился зла.

2 У Иова было семь сыновей и три дочери.

3 Во владении у него было семь тысяч овец, три тысячи верблюдов, тысяча быков и пятьсот ослиц. У Иова было множество слуг, и он считался самым богатым человеком на востоке.

4 Сыновья Иова по очереди устраивали пиры в своих домах и приглашали своих сестёр.

5 Иов просыпался рано утром после таких пиров и приносил жертвы всесожжения за каждого из своих детей. Он думал: «Может быть, дети были беззаботными и согрешили против Бога во время своего пира». Иов делал это каждый раз, чтобы дети были прощены за свои грехи, если согрешили.

6 Пришёл день для Ангелов предстать перед Господом, и сатана пришёл вместе с ними.

7 Господь спросил сатану: «Где ты был?» «Я бродил по земле», — ответил сатана.

8 Тогда Господь спросил: «Видел ли ты моего слугу Иова? Никто на земле не сравнится с ним! Он действительно хороший человек, который поклоняется Богу и сторонится зла!»

9 Тогда сатана воскликнул: «Конечно, Иов поклоняется Богу, потому что у него есть на то причины.

10 Ты всегда охраняешь и его, и его семью, и всё, чем он владеет. Ты помогаешь ему во всех его делах. Ты благословил его, и он стал так богат, что повсюду можно видеть его стада.

11 Но если Ты заберёшь всё, что у него есть, то он будет проклинать Тебя в лицо».

12 «Что ж, — сказал Господь, — делай что хочешь с его владениями, но не трогай его самого». После этих слов сатана ушёл от Господа.

13 Однажды, когда дети Иова ели и пили вино в доме старшего брата,

14 к Иову пришёл человек и сказал: «В то время, когда быки распахивали землю, а ослицы паслись рядом,

15 на нас напали савеяне и увели всех твоих животных, и убили всех слуг. Я один уцелел, чтобы рассказать обо всём».

16 Пока первый вестник ещё говорил, пришёл другой и сказал: «Молния ударила с неба и сожгла овец и слуг твоих. Я один уцелел, чтобы рассказать тебе обо всём».

17 И пока второй вестник всё ещё говорил, третий предстал перед Иовом и сказал: «Халдеи напали на нас с трёх сторон и забрали верблюдов, убив всех твоих слуг. Я один уцелел, чтобы рассказать тебе обо всём».

18 Третий гонец ещё не закончил своей речи, как появился другой и произнёс: «Твои сыновья и дочери ели и пили вино в доме старшего брата.

19 Вдруг сильный ураган из пустыни пришёл и разрушил этот дом, похоронив твоих детей под обломками. Я один уцелел, чтобы рассказать тебе обо всём».

20 Услышав всё это, Иов, потрясённый горем, разорвал на себе одежду и обрил свою голову. Затем он упал на землю и стал молиться Богу:

21 «Когда я родился на свет, был я гол и ничего не имел. Когда я уйду из жизни этой, снова буду гол, ничего не имея. Господь нам даёт, Господь и забирает. Славьте же имя Его!»

22 Даже после этих несчастий Иов не согрешил и не обвинил Господа в том, что случилось.

Job

Chapter 1

1 THERE was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was innocent and upright, and one who revered God and turned away from evil.

2 And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.

3 His substance was seven thousand sheep and three thousand camels and five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred she-asses and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the East.

4 And his sons went and feasted in the house of each other on his appointed day; and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.

5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were over, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present them selves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

7 And the LORD said to Satan, Whence have you come? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking on it.

8 Then the LORD said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, an innocent and upright man, one who reveres God, and turns away from evil?

9 Then Satan answered the LORD and said, Does Job revere God for nought?

10 Thou hast rested thy hand of protection upon him and upon his house and upon his children and upon everything that he has everywhere; thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11 But put forth thy hand now, and destroy all that he has, and he will curse thee to thy face.

12 And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power; only upon himself you shall not put forth your hand. So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

13 And there was a day when Job's sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house;

14 And there came a messenger to Job, and said to him, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding be side them;

15 And robbers raided them, and carried them away, and they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword, and I only have escaped to en_lbp_inform you.

16 While he was yet speaking, there came another, and said to him, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and has burned up the sheep and the shepherds, and consumed them; and I only have escaped to en_lbp_inform you.

17 While he was yet speaking, there came another, and said to him, The Chaldeans divided themselves into three bands, and raided the camels, and carried them away, and slew the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only have escaped to en_lbp_inform you.

18 While he was yet speaking, there came another, and said to him, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house;

19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only have escaped to en_lbp_inform you.

20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

21 And he said, Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return; the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

22 In all these disasters, Job did not sin, nor did he blaspheme against the LORD.

3 Во владении у него было семь тысяч овец, три тысячи верблюдов, тысяча быков и пятьсот ослиц. У Иова было множество слуг, и он считался самым богатым человеком на востоке.

3 His substance was seven thousand sheep and three thousand camels and five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred she-asses and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the East.

4 Сыновья Иова по очереди устраивали пиры в своих домах и приглашали своих сестёр.

4 And his sons went and feasted in the house of each other on his appointed day; and they would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.

5 Иов просыпался рано утром после таких пиров и приносил жертвы всесожжения за каждого из своих детей. Он думал: «Может быть, дети были беззаботными и согрешили против Бога во время своего пира». Иов делал это каждый раз, чтобы дети были прощены за свои грехи, если согрешили.

5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were over, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

6 Пришёл день для Ангелов предстать перед Господом, и сатана пришёл вместе с ними.

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present them selves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

7 Господь спросил сатану: «Где ты был?» «Я бродил по земле», — ответил сатана.

7 And the LORD said to Satan, Whence have you come? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking on it.

8 Тогда Господь спросил: «Видел ли ты моего слугу Иова? Никто на земле не сравнится с ним! Он действительно хороший человек, который поклоняется Богу и сторонится зла!»

8 Then the LORD said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, an innocent and upright man, one who reveres God, and turns away from evil?

9 Тогда сатана воскликнул: «Конечно, Иов поклоняется Богу, потому что у него есть на то причины.

9 Then Satan answered the LORD and said, Does Job revere God for nought?

10 Ты всегда охраняешь и его, и его семью, и всё, чем он владеет. Ты помогаешь ему во всех его делах. Ты благословил его, и он стал так богат, что повсюду можно видеть его стада.

10 Thou hast rested thy hand of protection upon him and upon his house and upon his children and upon everything that he has everywhere; thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11 Но если Ты заберёшь всё, что у него есть, то он будет проклинать Тебя в лицо».

12 «Что ж, — сказал Господь, — делай что хочешь с его владениями, но не трогай его самого». После этих слов сатана ушёл от Господа.

12 And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power; only upon himself you shall not put forth your hand. So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

13 Однажды, когда дети Иова ели и пили вино в доме старшего брата,

13 And there was a day when Job's sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house;

14 к Иову пришёл человек и сказал: «В то время, когда быки распахивали землю, а ослицы паслись рядом,

14 And there came a messenger to Job, and said to him, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding be side them;

15 на нас напали савеяне и увели всех твоих животных, и убили всех слуг. Я один уцелел, чтобы рассказать обо всём».

15 And robbers raided them, and carried them away, and they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword, and I only have escaped to en_lbp_inform you.

16 Пока первый вестник ещё говорил, пришёл другой и сказал: «Молния ударила с неба и сожгла овец и слуг твоих. Я один уцелел, чтобы рассказать тебе обо всём».

18 Третий гонец ещё не закончил своей речи, как появился другой и произнёс: «Твои сыновья и дочери ели и пили вино в доме старшего брата.

18 While he was yet speaking, there came another, and said to him, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house;

19 Вдруг сильный ураган из пустыни пришёл и разрушил этот дом, похоронив твоих детей под обломками. Я один уцелел, чтобы рассказать тебе обо всём».

19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only have escaped to en_lbp_inform you.

20 Услышав всё это, Иов, потрясённый горем, разорвал на себе одежду и обрил свою голову. Затем он упал на землю и стал молиться Богу:

20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

21 «Когда я родился на свет, был я гол и ничего не имел. Когда я уйду из жизни этой, снова буду гол, ничего не имея. Господь нам даёт, Господь и забирает. Славьте же имя Его!»

21 And he said, Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return; the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

22 Даже после этих несчастий Иов не согрешил и не обвинил Господа в том, что случилось.

22 In all these disasters, Job did not sin, nor did he blaspheme against the LORD.
