Розділ 22

1 Тоді покликав Ісус племе́но Рувимове та Ґадове, та половину Манасіїного племени,

2 та й сказав їм: „Ви виконували все, що вам наказав був раб Господній Мойсей, і ви слухалися голосу мого про все, що я вам наказував.

3 Ви оце не лишали братів своїх довгі дні аж до цього дня, і ви додержували ви́конання за́повідей Господа, Бога вашого.

4 А тепер Господь, Бог ваш, дав мир вашим братам, як вам говорив був. І тепер поверні́ться, та й ідіть собі до наметів своїх, до кра́ю вашої власности, що вам дав Мойсей, раб Господній, на тім боці Йорда́ну.

5 Тільки дуже пильнуйте виконувати заповідь та Зако́на, що наказав був вам Мойсей, раб Господній: любити Господа, Бога вашого, і ходити всіма́ Його дорогами, і додержувати Його заповіді, і линути до Нього, і служити Йому всім вашим серцем та всією вашою душею“.

6 І поблагословив їх Ісус, та й послав їх, а вони пішли до наме́тів своїх.

7 А половині Манасіїного племени Мойсей дав у Башані, а половині його дав Ісус з їхніми братами на цім боці Йорда́ну на за́хід. І також, коли Ісус відпускав їх до їхніх наме́тів, то поблагословив їх,

8 та й сказав до них, говорячи: „Верніться до своїх наметів із великими маєтками та з дуже числе́нною худобою, зо сріблом, і з золотом, і з міддю, і з залізом, і з дуже багатьома́ одежами. Поділіть здо́бич від ваших ворогів із вашими братами“.

9 І вернулися, і пішли сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени від Ізраїлевих синів, із Шіло́, що в ханаанському краї, щоб піти до кра́ю Ґілеад, до кра́ю своєї власности, що посіли його на наказ Господній через Мойсея.

10 І прийшли до йорда́нських могил, що в ханаанському кра́ї, і збудували там сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени же́ртівника над Йорда́ном, жертівника великого на вид.

11 І почули Ізраїлеві сини таке: „Оце збудували сини Руви́мові й сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени же́ртівника навпроти ханаанського кра́ю, при йорданських моги́лах, на боці Ізраїлевих синів.

12 І почули це Ізраїлеві сини, і була́ зібрана вся громада Ізраїлевих синів до Шіло́, щоб піти на них війною.

13 І послали Ізраїлеві сини до синів Руви́мових і до синів Ґадових та до половини Манасіїного племени ґілеадського кра́ю Пінхаса, сина священика Елеазара,

14 та з ним десять начальників, по одному начальникові для батькового дому з усіх Ізраїлевих племен; а кожен із них — голова дому їхніх батьків, вони для тисяч Ізраїлевих.

15 І прийшли вони до синів Руви́мових й до синів Ґадових та до половини Манасіїного племени до ґілеадського кра́ю, та й говорили з ними, кажучи:

16 „Так сказала вся Господня громада: Що́ це за пере́ступ, що ви спроневі́рилися ним проти Ізраїлевого Бога, щоб відвернутись сьогодні від Господа? Бо ви збудували собі же́ртівника, щоб сьогодні збунтуватися проти Господа.

17 Чи нам мало Пеорового гріха́, з якого ми не очистилися аж до цього дня, і була пора́за в Господній громаді?

18 А ви відверта́єтеся сьогодні від Господа. І станеться, — ви збунутуєтеся сьогодні проти Господа, а Він узавтра розгнівається на всю Ізраїлеву громаду.

19 І справді, — якщо край вашої посілости нечистий, перейдіть собі до кра́ю Господньої посілости, що там пробу ває Господня скинія, і візьміть посілість серед нас, а на Господа не бунтуйтеся, і не бунтуйтеся проти нас вашим збудува́нням собі же́ртівника, окрім жертівника Господа, Бога нашого.

20 Чи ж не Ахан, син Зерахів, спроневі́рився був пере́ступом у заклятому, а гнів був на всю Ізраїлеву громаду? І він був єди́ний чоловік, що не помер своєю смертю через свій гріх“.

21 І відповіли сини Руви́мові, сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени, і говорили з головами тисяч Ізраїлевих:

22 „Бог богів Господь, Бог богів Господь, — Він знає, і Ізра́їль — він буде знати. Не пощади́ нас цього дня, якщо бунтом і якщо пере́ступом проти Господа ми це зробили,

23 якщо ми збудували собі же́ртівника на відве́рнення від Господа; а якщо ми будували на прине́сення цілопа́лення та жертви хлі́бної, і якщо на споря́дження на ньому мирних жертов, то Господь — Він відплатить,

24 і якщо ми не зробили цього з оба́вою про таку річ, гово́рячи: Завтра скажуть ваші сини до наших синів, говорячи: Що вам до Господа, Бога Ізраїлевого?

25 Бо Господь дав границю поміж нами та поміж вами, сини Рувимові та сини Ґадові, Йорда́н, — нема вам наділу в Господі! І ваші сини віді́рвуть наших синів від бо́язні Господа.

26 Тож сказали ми: Зробім собі, збудуймо жертівника не на цілопа́лення й не на жертву,

27 але щоб він був свідком між нами та між вами, і між поколіннями нашими по нас, що ми служили служби Господні перед Його лицем нашими цілопа́леннями, і нашими жертвами, і нашими жертвами мирними. І не скажуть ваші сини взавтра до наших синів: нема вам наділу в Господі!

28 І сказали ми: І станеться, коли так скажуть до нас та до наших поколі́нь узавтра, то ми скажемо: Подивіться на вигляд жертівника, що зробили були наші батьки не на цілопа́лення й не на жертву, але щоб був він свідком між нами та між вами.

29 Борони нас, Боже, бунтуватися нам проти Господа, і відверта́тися сьогодні від Господа, щоб будувати жертівника на цілопа́лення, і на жертву хлі́бну, і на жертву, окрім жертівника Господа, Бога нашого, що перед скинією Його“.

30 І почув священик Пінхас та начальники громади й го́лови тисяч Ізра́їлевих, що були з ним, ті слова́, що казали сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та сини Манасіїні, і було це добре в їхніх оча́х.

31 І сказав Пінхас, син священика Елеазара, до синів Рувимових, і до синів Ґадових та до синів Манасіїних: „Сьогодні ми пізнали, що Господь серед вас, що ви не спроневі́рилися Господе́ві тим пере́ступом, — тепе́р ви ви́зволили Ізраїлевих синів від Господньої руки“.

32 І вернувся Пінхас, син священика Елеазара, та начальники від синів Рувимових, і від синів Ґадових з ґілеадського кра́ю до Кра́ю ханаанського до Ізраїлевих синів, і здали́ їм звіт.

33 І була́ добра та річ в оча́х синів Ізраїлевих. І поблагословили Бога Ізраїлеві сини, і не сказали йти на них війною, щоб знищити край, що сини Рувимові та сини Ґадові сидять у ньому.

34 І назвали сини Рувимові та сини Ґадові ім'я́ жертівникові: Ед, бо він свідок між нами, що Господь — Він Бог.

Chapter 22

1 THEN Joshua called the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh,

2 And said to them, You have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I have commanded you;

3 You have not deserted your brethren these many days even to this time, but have kept the commandments of the LORD your God.

4 And now the LORD your God has given rest to your brethren, as he promised them; therefore now return, and go to your towns and to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side of the Jordan to the east.

5 But only take diligent heed to observe the commandments and the laws which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, to keep his commandments, and to cleave to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

6 So Joshua blessed them and sent them away; and they went to their towns.

7 Now to the half of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given an inheritance in Mathnin; but to the other half thereof Joshua had given an inheritance among their brethren on this side of the Jordan to the west. And when Joshua sent them away to their towns, he blessed them;

8 And he spoke to them, saying, Return to your towns and to the land of your inheritance with much wealth and with very many cattle, with silver, with gold, with brass, with iron, and with very much clothing; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.

9 So the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the land of Gilead, to the land of their possessions, in which they were given an inheritance, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

10 And when they came to Gilgal, which is by the side of the Jordan in the land of Canaan, the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by the Jordan, a large and remarkable altar.

11 And the children of Israel heard it said, Behold, the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar at the border of the land of Canaan, in Gilgal which is by the side of the Jordan, in the land of the children of Israel.

12 Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh to go to war against them.

13 And the children of Israel sent to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,

14 And with him ten princes, one prince from every tribe of Israel; and these men were chiefs of the armies of Israel.

15 And they came to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying.

16 Thus says the whole congregation of the LORD, What treachery is this which you have committed against the God of Israel, in turning away from following the LORD, in that you have builded yourselves an altar, that you might abandon the worship of the LORD?

17 Is the iniquity of Peor not enough for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD?

18 And as for you, when you turned away this day from the worship of the LORD, tomorrow the anger will be against the whole congregation of Israel.

19 If, however, the land of your possession is unclean, then pass over to the land of the possession of the LORD, where the LORD'S tabernacle dwells, and inherit land among us; but do not disdain the worship of the LORD, nor rebel against us by building for yourselves an altar beside the altar of the LORD the God of Israel.

20 Did you not see that when Achar the son of Carmi coveted and took the devoted things, wrath fell upon the whole congregation of Israel? He was but one man, yet he devoured us all in his iniquity.

21 Then the Reubenites the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh answered and said to Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest and to the heads of the armies of Israel,

22 The LORD is the God of gods, the God of gods is the LORD, and he is our God, and he knows Israel and he knows us also; if we shall depart from him, or if we shall transgress against the worship of the LORD in doing this thing, then let him not save us this day.

23 And if we have built us an altar to turn from the worship of the LORD, or to offer upon it burnt offerings, or use it for any other service, let the LORD himself seek vengeance against us;

24 And if we have not rather done this thing because of reverence to him, so that in time to come your children might not say to our children, What have you to do with the LORD God of Israel, O you Reubenites and Gadites?

25 For the LORD has made the Jordan a boundary between us and you; now therefore you have no part in the LORD; so in time to come shall your children make our children cease from worshipping the LORD.

26 Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice;

27 But that it may be a witness between us and you, and between our generations after us, and between ourselves and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings, in the place where the LORD chooses to dwell; so that your children may not say to our children in time to come, You have no part in the LORD.

28 Therefore we said that it shall be, if they should ever speak to us or to our generations in time to come, then we may say to them, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD which our fathers made not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but to be a witness between us and you.

29 God forbid that we should reject the worship of the LORD, and turn away from revering him, and build for ourselves an altar for burnt offerings, for gift offerings, or for sacrifices, besides the altar of the LORD God of Israel that is before his tabernacle.

30 And when Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest and the princes of the congregation and the heads of the armies of Israel who were with him heard the words that the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them.

31 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh. This day we know that the LORD is among us, because you have not committed this trespass against the LORD; now you have delivered the children of Israel, that the hand of the LORD might not be against them with wrath.

32 Then Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes who were with him, returned from the Reubenites and from the Gadites and the Manashites, out of the land of Gilead, to the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them an answer.

33 And the answer pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and decided not to go up against them to battle to destroy the land wherein the Reubenites and the Gadites and the Manashites dwelt.

34 And the Reubenites and the Gadites and the Manashites called the altar which they had made, The Altar of Testimony, for it is a witness between us that the LORD is the only God.

1 Тоді покликав Ісус племе́но Рувимове та Ґадове, та половину Манасіїного племени,

1 THEN Joshua called the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh,

2 та й сказав їм: „Ви виконували все, що вам наказав був раб Господній Мойсей, і ви слухалися голосу мого про все, що я вам наказував.

2 And said to them, You have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I have commanded you;

3 Ви оце не лишали братів своїх довгі дні аж до цього дня, і ви додержували ви́конання за́повідей Господа, Бога вашого.

3 You have not deserted your brethren these many days even to this time, but have kept the commandments of the LORD your God.

4 А тепер Господь, Бог ваш, дав мир вашим братам, як вам говорив був. І тепер поверні́ться, та й ідіть собі до наметів своїх, до кра́ю вашої власности, що вам дав Мойсей, раб Господній, на тім боці Йорда́ну.

4 And now the LORD your God has given rest to your brethren, as he promised them; therefore now return, and go to your towns and to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side of the Jordan to the east.

5 Тільки дуже пильнуйте виконувати заповідь та Зако́на, що наказав був вам Мойсей, раб Господній: любити Господа, Бога вашого, і ходити всіма́ Його дорогами, і додержувати Його заповіді, і линути до Нього, і служити Йому всім вашим серцем та всією вашою душею“.

5 But only take diligent heed to observe the commandments and the laws which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, to keep his commandments, and to cleave to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

6 І поблагословив їх Ісус, та й послав їх, а вони пішли до наме́тів своїх.

6 So Joshua blessed them and sent them away; and they went to their towns.

7 А половині Манасіїного племени Мойсей дав у Башані, а половині його дав Ісус з їхніми братами на цім боці Йорда́ну на за́хід. І також, коли Ісус відпускав їх до їхніх наме́тів, то поблагословив їх,

7 Now to the half of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given an inheritance in Mathnin; but to the other half thereof Joshua had given an inheritance among their brethren on this side of the Jordan to the west. And when Joshua sent them away to their towns, he blessed them;

8 та й сказав до них, говорячи: „Верніться до своїх наметів із великими маєтками та з дуже числе́нною худобою, зо сріблом, і з золотом, і з міддю, і з залізом, і з дуже багатьома́ одежами. Поділіть здо́бич від ваших ворогів із вашими братами“.

8 And he spoke to them, saying, Return to your towns and to the land of your inheritance with much wealth and with very many cattle, with silver, with gold, with brass, with iron, and with very much clothing; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.

9 І вернулися, і пішли сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени від Ізраїлевих синів, із Шіло́, що в ханаанському краї, щоб піти до кра́ю Ґілеад, до кра́ю своєї власности, що посіли його на наказ Господній через Мойсея.

9 So the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the land of Gilead, to the land of their possessions, in which they were given an inheritance, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

10 І прийшли до йорда́нських могил, що в ханаанському кра́ї, і збудували там сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени же́ртівника над Йорда́ном, жертівника великого на вид.

10 And when they came to Gilgal, which is by the side of the Jordan in the land of Canaan, the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by the Jordan, a large and remarkable altar.

11 І почули Ізраїлеві сини таке: „Оце збудували сини Руви́мові й сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени же́ртівника навпроти ханаанського кра́ю, при йорданських моги́лах, на боці Ізраїлевих синів.

11 And the children of Israel heard it said, Behold, the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar at the border of the land of Canaan, in Gilgal which is by the side of the Jordan, in the land of the children of Israel.

12 І почули це Ізраїлеві сини, і була́ зібрана вся громада Ізраїлевих синів до Шіло́, щоб піти на них війною.

12 Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh to go to war against them.

13 І послали Ізраїлеві сини до синів Руви́мових і до синів Ґадових та до половини Манасіїного племени ґілеадського кра́ю Пінхаса, сина священика Елеазара,

13 And the children of Israel sent to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,

14 та з ним десять начальників, по одному начальникові для батькового дому з усіх Ізраїлевих племен; а кожен із них — голова дому їхніх батьків, вони для тисяч Ізраїлевих.

14 And with him ten princes, one prince from every tribe of Israel; and these men were chiefs of the armies of Israel.

15 І прийшли вони до синів Руви́мових й до синів Ґадових та до половини Манасіїного племени до ґілеадського кра́ю, та й говорили з ними, кажучи:

15 And they came to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying.

16 „Так сказала вся Господня громада: Що́ це за пере́ступ, що ви спроневі́рилися ним проти Ізраїлевого Бога, щоб відвернутись сьогодні від Господа? Бо ви збудували собі же́ртівника, щоб сьогодні збунтуватися проти Господа.

16 Thus says the whole congregation of the LORD, What treachery is this which you have committed against the God of Israel, in turning away from following the LORD, in that you have builded yourselves an altar, that you might abandon the worship of the LORD?

17 Чи нам мало Пеорового гріха́, з якого ми не очистилися аж до цього дня, і була пора́за в Господній громаді?

17 Is the iniquity of Peor not enough for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD?

18 А ви відверта́єтеся сьогодні від Господа. І станеться, — ви збунутуєтеся сьогодні проти Господа, а Він узавтра розгнівається на всю Ізраїлеву громаду.

18 And as for you, when you turned away this day from the worship of the LORD, tomorrow the anger will be against the whole congregation of Israel.

19 І справді, — якщо край вашої посілости нечистий, перейдіть собі до кра́ю Господньої посілости, що там пробу ває Господня скинія, і візьміть посілість серед нас, а на Господа не бунтуйтеся, і не бунтуйтеся проти нас вашим збудува́нням собі же́ртівника, окрім жертівника Господа, Бога нашого.

19 If, however, the land of your possession is unclean, then pass over to the land of the possession of the LORD, where the LORD'S tabernacle dwells, and inherit land among us; but do not disdain the worship of the LORD, nor rebel against us by building for yourselves an altar beside the altar of the LORD the God of Israel.

20 Чи ж не Ахан, син Зерахів, спроневі́рився був пере́ступом у заклятому, а гнів був на всю Ізраїлеву громаду? І він був єди́ний чоловік, що не помер своєю смертю через свій гріх“.

20 Did you not see that when Achar the son of Carmi coveted and took the devoted things, wrath fell upon the whole congregation of Israel? He was but one man, yet he devoured us all in his iniquity.

21 І відповіли сини Руви́мові, сини Ґадові та половина Манасіїного племени, і говорили з головами тисяч Ізраїлевих:

21 Then the Reubenites the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh answered and said to Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest and to the heads of the armies of Israel,

22 „Бог богів Господь, Бог богів Господь, — Він знає, і Ізра́їль — він буде знати. Не пощади́ нас цього дня, якщо бунтом і якщо пере́ступом проти Господа ми це зробили,

22 The LORD is the God of gods, the God of gods is the LORD, and he is our God, and he knows Israel and he knows us also; if we shall depart from him, or if we shall transgress against the worship of the LORD in doing this thing, then let him not save us this day.

23 якщо ми збудували собі же́ртівника на відве́рнення від Господа; а якщо ми будували на прине́сення цілопа́лення та жертви хлі́бної, і якщо на споря́дження на ньому мирних жертов, то Господь — Він відплатить,

23 And if we have built us an altar to turn from the worship of the LORD, or to offer upon it burnt offerings, or use it for any other service, let the LORD himself seek vengeance against us;

24 і якщо ми не зробили цього з оба́вою про таку річ, гово́рячи: Завтра скажуть ваші сини до наших синів, говорячи: Що вам до Господа, Бога Ізраїлевого?

24 And if we have not rather done this thing because of reverence to him, so that in time to come your children might not say to our children, What have you to do with the LORD God of Israel, O you Reubenites and Gadites?

25 Бо Господь дав границю поміж нами та поміж вами, сини Рувимові та сини Ґадові, Йорда́н, — нема вам наділу в Господі! І ваші сини віді́рвуть наших синів від бо́язні Господа.

25 For the LORD has made the Jordan a boundary between us and you; now therefore you have no part in the LORD; so in time to come shall your children make our children cease from worshipping the LORD.

26 Тож сказали ми: Зробім собі, збудуймо жертівника не на цілопа́лення й не на жертву,

26 Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice;

27 але щоб він був свідком між нами та між вами, і між поколіннями нашими по нас, що ми служили служби Господні перед Його лицем нашими цілопа́леннями, і нашими жертвами, і нашими жертвами мирними. І не скажуть ваші сини взавтра до наших синів: нема вам наділу в Господі!

27 But that it may be a witness between us and you, and between our generations after us, and between ourselves and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings, in the place where the LORD chooses to dwell; so that your children may not say to our children in time to come, You have no part in the LORD.

28 І сказали ми: І станеться, коли так скажуть до нас та до наших поколі́нь узавтра, то ми скажемо: Подивіться на вигляд жертівника, що зробили були наші батьки не на цілопа́лення й не на жертву, але щоб був він свідком між нами та між вами.

28 Therefore we said that it shall be, if they should ever speak to us or to our generations in time to come, then we may say to them, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD which our fathers made not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but to be a witness between us and you.

29 Борони нас, Боже, бунтуватися нам проти Господа, і відверта́тися сьогодні від Господа, щоб будувати жертівника на цілопа́лення, і на жертву хлі́бну, і на жертву, окрім жертівника Господа, Бога нашого, що перед скинією Його“.

29 God forbid that we should reject the worship of the LORD, and turn away from revering him, and build for ourselves an altar for burnt offerings, for gift offerings, or for sacrifices, besides the altar of the LORD God of Israel that is before his tabernacle.

30 І почув священик Пінхас та начальники громади й го́лови тисяч Ізра́їлевих, що були з ним, ті слова́, що казали сини Рувимові й сини Ґадові та сини Манасіїні, і було це добре в їхніх оча́х.

30 And when Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest and the princes of the congregation and the heads of the armies of Israel who were with him heard the words that the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them.

31 І сказав Пінхас, син священика Елеазара, до синів Рувимових, і до синів Ґадових та до синів Манасіїних: „Сьогодні ми пізнали, що Господь серед вас, що ви не спроневі́рилися Господе́ві тим пере́ступом, — тепе́р ви ви́зволили Ізраїлевих синів від Господньої руки“.

31 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh. This day we know that the LORD is among us, because you have not committed this trespass against the LORD; now you have delivered the children of Israel, that the hand of the LORD might not be against them with wrath.

32 І вернувся Пінхас, син священика Елеазара, та начальники від синів Рувимових, і від синів Ґадових з ґілеадського кра́ю до Кра́ю ханаанського до Ізраїлевих синів, і здали́ їм звіт.

32 Then Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes who were with him, returned from the Reubenites and from the Gadites and the Manashites, out of the land of Gilead, to the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them an answer.

33 І була́ добра та річ в оча́х синів Ізраїлевих. І поблагословили Бога Ізраїлеві сини, і не сказали йти на них війною, щоб знищити край, що сини Рувимові та сини Ґадові сидять у ньому.

33 And the answer pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and decided not to go up against them to battle to destroy the land wherein the Reubenites and the Gadites and the Manashites dwelt.

34 І назвали сини Рувимові та сини Ґадові ім'я́ жертівникові: Ед, бо він свідок між нами, що Господь — Він Бог.

34 And the Reubenites and the Gadites and the Manashites called the altar which they had made, The Altar of Testimony, for it is a witness between us that the LORD is the only God.
