7 Turn6437 you, and take your journey,5265 and go935 to the mount2022 of the Amorites,567 and to all3605 the places near7934 thereunto, in the plain,6160 in the hills,2022 and in the vale,8219 and in the south,5045 and by the sea3220 side,2348 to the land776 of the Canaanites,3669 and to Lebanon,3844 to the great1419 river,5104 the river5104 Euphrates.6578

10 The LORD3068 your God430 has multiplied7235 you, and, behold,2009 you are this day3117 as the stars3556 of heaven8064 for multitude.7230

12 How349 can I myself alone905 bear5375 your cumbrance,2960 and your burden,4853 and your strife?7379

13 Take3051 you wise2450 men,582 and understanding,995 and known3045 among your tribes,7626 and I will make7760 them rulers7218 over you.

14 And you answered6030 me, and said,559 The thing1697 which834 you have spoken1696 is good2896 for us to do.6213

15 So I took3947 the chief7218 of your tribes,7626 wise2450 men,582 and known,3045 and made5414 them heads7218 over5921 you, captains8269 over thousands,505 and captains8269 over hundreds,3967 and captains8269 over fifties,2572 and captains8269 over tens,6235 and officers7860 among your tribes.7626

16 And I charged6680 your judges8199 at that time,6256 saying,559 Hear8085 the causes between996 your brothers,251 and judge8199 righteously6664 between996 every man376 and his brother,251 and the stranger1616 that is with him.

17 You shall not respect5234 persons6440 in judgment;4941 but you shall hear8085 the small6996 as well as the great;1419 you shall not be afraid1481 of the face6440 of man;376 for the judgment4941 is God's:430 and the cause1697 that is too hard7185 for you, bring7126 it to me, and I will hear8085 it.

18 And I commanded6680 you at that time6256 all3605 the things1697 which834 you should do.6213

19 And when we departed5265 from Horeb,2722 we went3212 through all3605 that great1419 and terrible3372 wilderness,4057 which834 you saw7200 by the way1870 of the mountain2022 of the Amorites,567 as the LORD3068 our God430 commanded6680 us; and we came935 to Kadeshbarnea.6947

20 And I said559 to you, You are come935 to the mountain2022 of the Amorites,567 which834 the LORD3068 our God430 does give5414 to us.

21 Behold,7200 the LORD3068 your God430 has set5414 the land776 before6440 you: go5927 up and possess3423 it, as the LORD3068 God430 of your fathers1 has said1696 to you; fear3372 not, neither408 be discouraged.2865

22 And you came7126 near7126 to me every3605 one of you, and said,559 We will send7971 men582 before6440 us, and they shall search2658 us out the land,776 and bring7725 us word1697 again7725 by what834 way1870 we must go5927 up, and into what853 cities5892 we shall come.935

23 And the saying1697 pleased3190 5869 me well: and I took3947 twelve8147 6240 men582 of you, one259 of a tribe:7626

24 And they turned6437 and went5927 up into the mountain,2022 and came935 to the valley5158 of Eshcol,812 and searched7270 it out.

25 And they took3947 of the fruit6529 of the land776 in their hands,3027 and brought3381 it down3381 to us, and brought7725 us word1697 again,7725 and said,559 It is a good2896 land776 which834 the LORD3068 our God430 does give5414 us.

26 Notwithstanding you would14 not go5927 up, but rebelled4784 against the commandment6310 of the LORD3068 your God:430

27 And you murmured7279 in your tents,168 and said,559 Because the LORD3068 hated8135 us, he has brought3318 us forth3318 out of the land776 of Egypt,4714 to deliver5414 us into the hand3027 of the Amorites,567 to destroy8045 us.

28 Where575 shall we go5927 up? our brothers251 have discouraged4549 our heart,3824 saying,559 The people5971 is greater1419 and taller7311 than we; the cities5892 are great1419 and walled1219 up to heaven;8064 and moreover1571 we have seen7200 the sons1121 of the Anakims6062 there.8033

29 Then I said559 to you, Dread6206 not, neither3808 be afraid3372 of them.

30 The LORD3068 your God430 which goes1980 before6440 you, he shall fight3898 for you, according to all3605 that he did6213 for you in Egypt4714 before your eyes;5869

31 And in the wilderness,4057 where834 you have seen7200 how that the LORD3068 your God430 bore5375 you, as a man376 does bear5375 his son,1121 in all3605 the way1870 that you went,1980 until5704 you came935 into5704 this2088 place.4725

32 Yet in this2088 thing1697 you did not believe539 the LORD3068 your God,430

33 Who went1980 in the way1870 before6440 you, to search8446 you out a place4725 to pitch2583 your tents in, in fire784 by night,3915 to show7200 you by what834 way1870 you should go,3212 and in a cloud6051 by day.3119

34 And the LORD3068 heard8085 the voice6963 of your words,1697 and was wroth,7107 and swore,7650 saying,559

35 Surely518 there shall not one376 of these428 men582 of this2088 evil7451 generation1755 see7200 that good2896 land,776 which834 I swore7650 to give5414 to your fathers.1

36 Save2108 Caleb3612 the son1121 of Jephunneh;3312 he shall see7200 it, and to him will I give5414 the land776 that he has trodden1869 on, and to his children,1121 because3282 834 he has wholly4390 followed310 the LORD.3068

37 Also1571 the LORD3068 was angry599 with me for your sakes,1558 saying,559 You also shall not go935 in thither.8033

38 But Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun,5126 which stands5975 before6440 you, he shall go935 in thither:8033 encourage2388 him: for he shall cause Israel3478 to inherit5157 it.

39 Moreover your little2945 ones, which834 you said559 should be a prey,957 and your children,1121 which834 in that day3117 had no3808 knowledge3045 between good2896 and evil,7451 they shall go935 in thither,8033 and to them will I give5414 it, and they shall possess3423 it.

40 But as for you, turn6437 you, and take your journey5265 into the wilderness4057 by the way1870 of the Red5488 sea.3220

41 Then you answered6030 and said559 to me, We have sinned2398 against the LORD,3068 we will go5927 up and fight,3898 according to all3605 that the LORD3068 our God430 commanded6680 us. And when you had girded2296 on5921 every376 man376 his weapons3627 of war,4421 you were ready1951 to go5927 up into the hill.2022

42 And the LORD3068 said559 to me, Say559 to them. Go5927 not up, neither3808 fight;3898 for I am not among7130 you; lest3808 you be smitten5062 before6440 your enemies.341

43 So I spoke1696 to you; and you would not hear,8085 but rebelled4784 against the commandment6310 of the LORD,3068 and went5927 presumptuously2102 up into the hill.2022

44 And the Amorites,567 which dwelled3427 in that mountain,2022 came3318 out against7125 you, and chased7291 you, as bees1682 do,6213 and destroyed3807 you in Seir,8165 even to Hormah.2767

45 And you returned7725 and wept1058 before6440 the LORD;3068 but the LORD3068 would not listen8085 to your voice,6963 nor3808 give ear238 to you.

46 So you stayed3427 in Kadesh6946 many7227 days,3117 according to the days3117 that you stayed3427 there.

7 wendet euch6437 und3669 ziehet5265 hin, daß ihr935 zu dem Gebirge2022 der Amoriter567 kommet und5104 zu allen ihren Nachbarn7934 im Gefilde6160, auf6578 Bergen und in Gründen8219, gegen Mittag5045 und gegen die Anfurt2348 des Meers3220 im Lande Kanaan, und zum Berge2022 Libanon3844 bis an das776 große1419 Wasser5104 Phrath.

8 Siehe7200 da, ich habe euch310 das776 Land776, das da vor6440 euch liegt, gegeben5414; gehet hinein935 und nehmet3423 es ein, das der HErr3068 euren Vätern1, Abraham85, Isaak3327 und Jakob3290, geschworen7650 hat, daß er‘s ihnen und ihrem Samen2233 nach ihnen geben5414 wollte.

9 Da sprach559 ich559 zu derselben Zeit6256 zu euch: Ich kann3201 euch nicht allein905 ertragen5375;

10 denn der HErr3068 euer GOtt430, hat euch gemehret, daß ihr heutigestages3117 seid wie die Menge7230 der Sterne3556 am Himmel8064.

11 Der HErr3068, eurer Väter1 GOtt430, mache euer noch3254 viel tausend505 mehr und segne1288 euch, wie6471 er euch geredet hat1696!

12 Wie349 kann ich allein solche Mühe2960 und Last4853 und Hader7379 von euch ertragen5375?

13 Schaffet her3051 weise2450, verständige995 und erfahrene3045 Leute582 unter euren Stämmen7626, die will ich über euch zu Häuptern7218 setzen7760.

14 Da antwortetet ihr6030 mir und sprachet: Das1697 ist1696 ein gut2896 Ding, davon du559 sagest, daß du es tun6213 willst.

15 Da nahm3947 ich die Häupter7218 eurer Stämme7626, weise2450 und erfahrene3045 Männer582, und setzte5414 sie über8269 euch zu Häuptern7218, über8269 tausend505, über8269 hundert3967, über8269 fünfzig2572 und über zehn6235, und Amtleute7860 unter euren Stämmen7626;

16 und6664 gebot6680 euren Richtern8199 zur selben Zeit6256 und376 sprach559: Verhöret eure Brüder251 und richtet recht8199 zwischen jedermann und seinem Bruder251 und dem Fremdling1616.

17 Keine5234 Person sollt ihr im Gericht4941 ansehen, sondern sollt den Kleinen6996 hören wie den Großen1419 und376 vor6440 niemandes Person euch scheuen. Denn das1697 Gerichtamt ist1481 Gottes430. Wird aber euch eine Sache4941 zu8085 hart7185 sein, die lasset an mich6440 gelangen7126, daß ich sie höre8085.

18 Also gebot6680 ich euch zu der Zeit6256 alles1697, was ihr tun6213 solltet.

19 Da zogen5265 wir aus von Horeb2722 und wandelten3212 durch935 die ganze Wüste4057, die groß1419 und grausam3372 ist, wie ihr gesehen7200 habt, auf der Straße1870 zum Gebirge2022 der Amoriter567, wie uns der HErr3068, unser GOtt430, geboten hatte6680, und kamen bis gen Kades-Barnea6947.

20 Da sprach559 ich zu euch: Ihr seid an das Gebirge2022 der Amoriter567 kommen935, das uns der HErr3068, unser GOtt430, geben5414 wird.

21 Siehe7200 da das Land776 vor6440 dir, das der HErr3068, dein GOtt430, dir gegeben5414 hat1696; zeuch hinauf5927 und3423 nimm‘s ein, wie der HErr3068, deiner Väter1 GOtt430, dir geredet hat. Fürchte3372 dich nicht2865 und laß dir nicht grauen!

22 Da7725 kamet ihr7126 zu mir6440 alle und7971 sprachet: Laßt uns Männer vor uns hinsenden, die uns das1697 Land776 erkunden2658 und uns wieder7725 sagen559, durch935 welchen Weg1870 wir582 hineinziehen sollen5927, und die Städte5892, da wir einkommen sollen.

23 Das1697 gefiel3190 mir wohl und nahm3947 aus euch5869 zwölf6240 Männer582, von jeglichem Stamm7626 einen259.

24 Da dieselbigen weggingen6437 und hinaufzogen auf5927 das Gebirge2022 und an den Bach5158 Eskol812 kamen935, da besahen7270 sie es

25 und nahmen der Früchte6529 des Landes776 mit sich3027 und brachten sie herab3381 zu uns; und sagten7725 uns wieder7725 und sprachen559: Das1697 Land776 ist3947 gut2896, das der HErr3068, unser GOtt430, uns gegeben5414 hat.

26 Aber ihr wolltet14 nicht hinaufziehen5927 und wurdet ungehorsam4784 dem Munde6310 des HErrn3068, eures Gottes430;

27 und559 murretet in euren Hütten168 und sprachet: Der HErr3068 ist uns gram8135; darum hat er uns aus3318 Ägyptenland776 geführet, daß er uns in der Amoriter567 Hände3027 gäbe5414 zu vertilgen8045.

28 Wo sollen wir hinauf? Unsere Brüder251 haben unser Herz3824 verzagt gemacht4549 und gesagt559, das Volk5971 sei größer1419 und höher7311 denn wir; die Städte5892 seien groß1419 und bis an5927 den Himmel8064 vermauert1219; dazu haben wir die Kinder1121 Enakim daselbst gesehen7200.

29 Ich sprach559 aber zu euch3372: Entsetzet6206 euch nicht und fürchtet euch nicht vor ihnen!

30 Der HErr3068, euer GOtt430, zeucht vor5869 euch1980 hin und wird für euch streiten3898, wie er mit euch getan6213 hat in Ägypten4714 vor euren Augen6440

31 und in der Wüste4057, da du gesehen hast5375, wie dich der HErr3068, dein GOtt430, getragen hat, wie ein Mann376 seinen Sohn1121 trägt5375, durch935 allen Weg1870, daher ihr gewandelt habt, bis ihr an7200 diesen Ort4725 kommen seid1980.

32 Aber das1697 galt nichts bei euch539, daß ihr an den HErrn3068, euren GOtt430, hättet geglaubet,

33 der vor6440 euch2583 her1870 ging1980, euch die Stätte4725 zu weisen8446, wo ihr7200 euch lagern solltet, des Nachts3915 im Feuer784, daß er euch den Weg1870 zeigete, darinnen ihr gehen3212 solltet, und des Tages3119 in der Wolke6051.

34 Als aber1697 der HErr3068 euer Geschrei6963 hörete, ward er zornig7107 und schwur7650 und sprach559:

35 Es soll7200 keiner376 dieses bösen7451 Geschlechts1755 das gute2896 Land776 sehen, das ich ihren Vätern1 zu geben5414 geschworen7650 habe,

36 ohne Kaleb3612, der Sohn1121 Jephunnes3312, der soll7200 es sehen, und310 ihm will ich geben5414 das Land776, darauf er getreten1869 hat4390, und seinen Kindern1121, darum daß834 er treulich dem HErrn3068 gefolget hat.

37 Auch ward der HErr3068 über mich zornig599 um1558 euretwillen und sprach559: Du sollst8033 auch nicht hineinkommen935.

38 Aber Josua3091, der Sohn1121 Nuns5126, der dein Diener6440 ist5975, der soll hineinkommen935. Denselben stärke2388; denn er soll Israel3478 das Erbe5157 austeilen.

40 Ihr aber wendet euch6437 und ziehet5265 nach der Wüste4057 den Weg1870 zum Schilfmeer5488!

41 Da antwortetet ihr und559 sprachet zu mir: Wir haben2398 an5927 dem1951 HErrn3068 gesündiget; wir wollen hinauf und streiten3898, wie uns der HErr3068, unser GOtt430, geboten6680 hat6030. Da ihr euch nun rüstetet2296, ein376 jeglicher mit seinem Harnisch3627, und waret an5927 dem, daß ihr hinaufzöget aufs Gebirge2022,

42 sprach559 der HErr3068 zu mir6440: Sage559 ihnen, daß sie nicht hinaufziehen, auch nicht streiten3898; denn ich bin nicht unter7130 euch; auf5927 daß ihr nicht geschlagen werdet5062 vor euren Feinden341.

43 Da ich euch das sagte1696, gehorchtet ihr8085 nicht5927 und wurdet ungehorsam4784 dem Munde6310 des HErrn3068 und waret vermessen und zoget2102 hinauf5927 aufs Gebirge2022.

44 Da zogen die3427 Amoriter567 aus3318, die auf dem Gebirge2022 wohneten, euch entgegen7125, und jagten7291 euch, wie die Bienen1682 tun6213, und schlugen3807 euch zu Seir8165 bis gen Horma2767.

45 Da ihr nun wiederkamet und weinetet vor6440 dem HErrn3068, wollte der HErr3068 eure Stimme6963 nicht238 hören und neigete seine Ohren nicht zu8085 euch7725.

42 And the LORD3068 said559 to me, Say559 to them. Go5927 not up, neither3808 fight;3898 for I am not among7130 you; lest3808 you be smitten5062 before6440 your enemies.341

44 And the Amorites,567 which dwelled3427 in that mountain,2022 came3318 out against7125 you, and chased7291 you, as bees1682 do,6213 and destroyed3807 you in Seir,8165 even to Hormah.2767
