1 Samuel

Chapter 25

1 And Samuel8050 died;4191 and all3605 the Israelites3478 were gathered6908 together, and lamented5594 him, and buried6912 him in his house1004 at Ramah.7414 And David1732 arose,6965 and went3381 down3381 to the wilderness4057 of Paran.6290

2 And there was a man376 in Maon,4584 whose possessions4639 were in Carmel;3760 and the man376 was very3966 great,1419 and he had three7969 thousand505 sheep,6629 and a thousand505 goats:5795 and he was shearing1494 his sheep6629 in Carmel.3760

3 Now6258 the name8034 of the man376 was Nabal;5037 and the name8034 of his wife802 Abigail:26 and she was a woman802 of good2896 understanding,7922 and of a beautiful3303 countenance:8389 but the man376 was churlish7186 and evil7451 in his doings;4611 and he was of the house1004 of Caleb.3612

4 And David1732 heard8085 in the wilderness4057 that Nabal5037 did shear1494 his sheep.6629

5 And David1732 sent7971 out ten6235 young5288 men, and David1732 said559 to the young5288 men, Get5927 you up to Carmel,3760 and go935 to Nabal,5037 and greet7592 7965 him in my name:8034

6 And thus3541 shall you say559 to him that lives2416 in prosperity, Peace7965 be both to you, and peace7965 be to your house,1004 and peace7965 be to all3605 that you have.

7 And now6258 I have heard8085 that you have shearers:1494 now your shepherds7462 which834 were with us, we hurt3637 them not, neither3808 was there ought3972 missing6485 to them, all3605 the while3117 they were in Carmel.3760

8 Ask7592 your young5288 men, and they will show5046 you. Why let the young5288 men find4672 favor2580 in your eyes:5869 for we come935 in a good2896 day:3117 give,5414 I pray4994 you, whatever853 834 comes4672 to your hand3027 to your servants,5650 and to your son1121 David.1732

9 And when David's1732 young5288 men came,935 they spoke1696 to Nabal5037 according to all3605 those428 words1697 in the name8034 of David,1732 and ceased.5117

10 And Nabal5037 answered6030 David's servants,5650 and said,559 Who4310 is David?1732 and who4310 is the son1121 of Jesse?3448 there be many7231 servants5650 now a days3117 that break6555 away every man376 from his master.113

11 Shall I then take3947 my bread,3899 and my water,4325 and my flesh2878 that I have killed2873 for my shearers,1494 and give5414 it to men,582 whom834 I know3045 not from where834 2088 they be?

12 So David's1732 young5288 men turned2015 their way,1870 and went7725 again,7725 and came935 and told5046 him all3605 those428 sayings.1697

13 And David1732 said559 to his men,582 Gird2296 you on every man376 his sword.2719 And they girded2296 on every man376 his sword;2719 and David1732 also1571 girded2296 on his sword:2719 and there went5927 up after310 David1732 about four702 hundred3967 men;376 and two hundred3967 stayed3427 by the stuff.3627

14 But one259 of the young5288 men told5046 Abigail,26 Nabal's5037 wife,802 saying,559 Behold,2009 David1732 sent7971 messengers4397 out of the wilderness4057 to salute1288 our master;113 and he railed5860 on them.

15 But the men582 were very3966 good2896 to us, and we were not hurt,3637 neither3808 missed6485 we any3972 thing,1697 as long3117 as we were conversant1980 with them, when we were in the fields:7704

16 They were a wall2346 to us both1571 by night3915 and day,3119 all3605 the while3117 we were with them keeping7462 the sheep.6629

17 Now6258 therefore know3045 and consider7200 what4100 you will do;6213 for evil7451 is determined3615 against413 our master,113 and against5921 all3605 his household:1004 for he is such a son1121 of Belial,1100 that a man cannot speak1696 to him.

18 Then Abigail26 made haste,4116 and took3947 two hundred3967 loaves,3899 and two8147 bottles5035 of wine,3196 and five2568 sheep6629 ready dressed,6213 and five2568 measures5429 of parched7039 corn, and an hundred3967 clusters6778 of raisins,6778 and two hundred3967 cakes1690 of figs, and laid7760 them on5921 asses.2543

19 And she said559 to her servants,5288 Go5674 on before6440 me; behold,2005 I come935 after310 you. But she told5046 not her husband376 Nabal.5037

20 And it was so, as she rode7392 on5921 the ass,2543 that she came3381 down3381 by the covert5643 on the hill,2022 and, behold,2009 David1732 and his men582 came3381 down3381 against7125 her; and she met6298 them.

21 Now David1732 had said,559 Surely389 in vain8267 have I kept8104 all3605 that this2088 fellow has in the wilderness,4057 so that nothing3808 3972 was missed6485 of all3605 that pertained to him: and he has requited7725 me evil7451 for good.2896

22 So3541 and more3254 also3541 do6213 God430 to the enemies341 of David,1732 if518 I leave7604 of all3605 that pertain to him by the morning1242 light216 any that urinates8366 against the wall.7023

23 And when Abigail26 saw7200 David,1732 she hurried,4116 and lighted3381 off5921 the ass,2543 and fell5307 before639 David1732 on5921 her face,6440 and bowed7812 herself to the ground,776

24 And fell5307 at5921 his feet,7272 and said,559 On me, my lord,113 on me let this iniquity5771 be: and let your handmaid,519 I pray4994 you, speak1696 in your audience,241 and hear8085 the words1697 of your handmaid.519

25 Let not my lord,113 I pray4994 you, regard3820 this2088 man376 of Belial,1100 even Nabal:5037 for as his name8034 is, so3651 is he; Nabal5037 is his name,8034 and folly5039 is with him: but I your handmaid519 saw7200 not the young5288 men of my lord,113 whom834 you did send.7971

26 Now6258 therefore, my lord,113 as the LORD3068 lives,2416 and as your soul5315 lives,2416 seeing the LORD3068 has withheld4513 you from coming935 to shed blood,1818 and from avenging3467 yourself with your own hand,3027 now6258 let your enemies,341 and they that seek1245 evil7451 to my lord,113 be as Nabal.5037

27 And now6258 this2063 blessing1293 which834 your handmaid8198 has brought935 to my lord,113 let it even be given5414 to the young5288 men that follow1980 7272 my lord.113

28 I pray4994 you, forgive5375 the trespass6588 of your handmaid:519 for the LORD3068 will certainly make6213 my lord113 a sure539 house;1004 because3588 my lord113 fights3898 the battles4421 of the LORD,3068 and evil7451 has not been found4672 in you all your days.3117

29 Yet a man120 is risen6965 to pursue7291 you, and to seek1245 your soul:5315 but the soul5315 of my lord113 shall be bound6887 in the bundle6872 of life2416 with the LORD3068 your God;430 and the souls5315 of your enemies,341 them shall he sling7049 out, as out of the middle8432 of a sling.7050

30 And it shall come1961 to pass, when3588 the LORD3068 shall have done6213 to my lord113 according to all3605 the good2896 that he has spoken1696 concerning5921 you, and shall have appointed6680 you ruler5057 over Israel;3478

31 That this2063 shall be no3808 grief6330 to you, nor offense4383 of heart3820 to my lord,136 either that you have shed8210 blood1818 causeless,2600 or that my lord136 has avenged3467 himself: but when the LORD3068 shall have dealt well3190 with my lord,113 then remember2142 your handmaid.519

32 And David1732 said559 to Abigail,26 Blessed1288 be the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 which834 sent7971 you this2088 day3117 to meet7125 me:

33 And blessed1288 be your advice,2940 and blessed1288 be you, which834 have kept3607 me this2088 day3117 from coming935 to shed blood,1818 and from avenging3467 myself with my own hand.3027

34 For in very199 deed,199 as the LORD3068 God430 of Israel3478 lives,2416 which834 has kept4513 me back4513 from hurting7489 you, except3588 3884 you had hurried4116 and come935 to meet7125 me, surely3588 518 there had not been left3498 to Nabal5037 by the morning1242 light216 any that urinates8366 against the wall.7023

35 So David1732 received3947 of her hand3027 that which834 she had brought935 him, and said559 to her, Go5927 up in peace7965 to your house;1004 see,7200 I have listened8085 to your voice,6963 and have accepted5375 your person.6440

36 And Abigail26 came935 to Nabal;5037 and, behold,2009 he held2790 a feast4960 in his house,1004 like the feast4960 of a king;4428 and Nabal's5037 heart3820 was merry2896 within5921 him, for he was very5704 3966 drunken:7910 why she told5046 him nothing,3808 1697 less6996 or more,1419 until5704 the morning1242 light.216

37 But it came1961 to pass in the morning,1242 when the wine3196 was gone3318 out of Nabal,5037 and his wife802 had told5046 him these428 things,1697 that his heart3820 died4191 within7130 him, and he became1961 as a stone.68

38 And it came1961 to pass about ten6235 days3117 after, that the LORD3068 smote5062 Nabal,5037 that he died.4191

39 And when David1732 heard8085 that Nabal5037 was dead,4191 he said,559 Blessed1288 be the LORD,3068 that has pleaded7378 the cause7379 of my reproach2781 from the hand3027 of Nabal,5037 and has kept2820 his servant5650 from evil:7451 for the LORD3068 has returned7725 the wickedness7451 of Nabal5037 on his own head.7218 And David1732 sent7971 and communed1696 with Abigail,26 to take3947 her to him to wife.802

40 And when the servants5650 of David1732 were come935 to Abigail26 to Carmel,3760 they spoke1696 to her, saying,559 David1732 sent7971 us to you, to take3947 you to him to wife.802

41 And she arose,6965 and bowed7812 herself on her face639 to the earth,776 and said,559 Behold,2009 let your handmaid519 be a servant5650 to wash7364 the feet7272 of the servants5650 of my lord.113

42 And Abigail26 hurried,4116 and arose 6965and rode7392 on an ass,2543 with five2568 damsels5291 of hers that went1980 after7272 her; and she went3212 after310 the messengers4397 of David,1732 and became1961 his wife.802

43 David1732 also took3947 Ahinoam293 of Jezreel;3157 and they were also both8147 of them his wives.802

44 But Saul7586 had given5414 Michal4324 his daughter,1323 David's1732 wife,802 to Phalti6406 the son1121 of Laish,3919 which834 was of Gallim.1554

1 Samuel

Chapter 25

1 AND Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together and mourned for him, and buried him in his grave at Ramtha. And David arose and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

2 And there was a man in Maon whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very wealthy; he had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats; and it came to pass, that he sheared his sheep in Carmel.

3 Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife was Abigail; and she was a beautiful woman, and of a beautiful countenance; but the man Nabal was harsh and evil in his doings, and like a dog.

4 And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his sheep.

5 And David sent out ten young men, and said to the young men, Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal and greet him in my name;

6 And thus shall you say to him who lives in prosperity, Peace be both to you and to your house.

7 Your shepherds were with us and we did not harm them, and they did not miss anything all the time they were in Carmel.

8 Ask your servants, and they will tell you. Now therefore let the young men find favor in your eyes; for we have come on a good day; give whatever you wish to your servants and to your son David.

9 And when David's young men came, they spoke to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David.

10 And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants today who have broken away every man from his master.

11 Shall I then take my bread and my water and my meat that I have killed for my shearers, and give it to men whom I know not whence they are?

12 So David's young men turned about and came back and told David all these words.

13 And David said to the men who were with him, Gird you on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword; and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred remained with the baggage.

14 But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to bless our master; and he railed at them.

15 But the men were very good to us and did not hurt us, and neither have they caused us to miss anything all the time that we went with them;

16 And when we were in the wilderness, they were a wall to us both by night and day, and all the time we were with them tending the sheep.

17 Now therefore know and consider what you will do; for evil is determined against our master and against all his household; and Nabal was with the shepherds.

18 Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves of bread and two skins of wine and five sheep ready dressed and five measures of parched wheat and one hundred cheeses and two hundred bunches of raisins, and laid them on asses.

19 And she said to the servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she did not tell her husband Nabal.

20 And as she was riding on the ass and coming down by the covert of the mountain, behold, David and his men were coming up in her direction; and she met them.

21 Now David had said, Surely in vain have we guarded all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missing of all that belonged to him; and he has rewarded us evil for good.

22 The LORD do so and more also to his servant David, if I leave of all that belongs to him by morning any mature male.

23 And when Abigail saw David, she hastened and alighted from the ass, and fell before David on her face and bowed herself to the ground,

24 And fell at his feet, and said, I beseech you, my lord, let this iniquity be upon me, my lord; and let your handmaid speak before you concerning this man Nabal.

25 For as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and his folly is with him; but I, your handmaid, did not see the young men whom my lord sent.

26 Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, my lord, seeing the LORD has withholden you from coming to shed blood, now, my lord, let your enemies and those who seek to do evil to you be as Nabal.

27 And now this present which your handmaid has brought to my lord, let it be given to the young men that follow my lord.

28 Forgive this trespass of your handmaid; for the LORD will certainly make for my lord a sure house; because my lord is fighting the battles of the LORD, and evil has not been found in you all your days.

29 Yet a man is resolved to pursue you and to seek your life; but the life of my lord is bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God; but the lives of your enemies the LORD shall throw out of a sling.

30 And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you, and shall have appointed you ruler over Israel,

31 That this shall not be a grief to you, nor an offence in your heart, to shed blood without cause; and when the LORD shall have dealt well with you, then remember your handmaid.

32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel who sent you this day to meet me;

33 And blessed be your advice, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and spared my hands this day from shedding blood.

34 For indeed, as the LORD God of Israel lives, who has restrained me from hurting you, if you had not made haste and come to meet me, surely there would not have been left to Nabal by the morning any mature male.

35 So David received of her hands that which she had brought, and said to her, Go up in peace to your house; see, I have hearkened to your voice and have accepted your person.

36 And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk; wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning.

37 But it came to pass in the morning, when he had shaken off the effects of wine, that his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him and he became paralyzed.

38 And it came to pass about ten days after, the LORD smote Nabal and he died.

39 And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hands of Nabal, and has kept his servant from evil; for the LORD has returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.

40 And when the servants of David came to Abigail at Carmel, they spoke to her, saying, David has sent us to you, to take you to him to wife.

41 And she arose and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let your handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.

42 And Abigail hastened and arose, and rode upon an ass with five of her maidens who went after her; and she went with the messengers of David and became his wife.

43 David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and both of them became his wives.

44 But Saul had given Malchel his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim.

1 AND Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together and mourned for him, and buried him in his grave at Ramtha. And David arose and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

2 And there was a man in Maon whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very wealthy; he had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats; and it came to pass, that he sheared his sheep in Carmel.

3 Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife was Abigail; and she was a beautiful woman, and of a beautiful countenance; but the man Nabal was harsh and evil in his doings, and like a dog.

4 And David1732 heard8085 in the wilderness4057 that Nabal5037 did shear1494 his sheep.6629

4 And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his sheep.

5 And David1732 sent7971 out ten6235 young5288 men, and David1732 said559 to the young5288 men, Get5927 you up to Carmel,3760 and go935 to Nabal,5037 and greet7592 7965 him in my name:8034

5 And David sent out ten young men, and said to the young men, Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal and greet him in my name;

6 And thus3541 shall you say559 to him that lives2416 in prosperity, Peace7965 be both to you, and peace7965 be to your house,1004 and peace7965 be to all3605 that you have.

6 And thus shall you say to him who lives in prosperity, Peace be both to you and to your house.

7 And now6258 I have heard8085 that you have shearers:1494 now your shepherds7462 which834 were with us, we hurt3637 them not, neither3808 was there ought3972 missing6485 to them, all3605 the while3117 they were in Carmel.3760

7 Your shepherds were with us and we did not harm them, and they did not miss anything all the time they were in Carmel.

8 Ask your servants, and they will tell you. Now therefore let the young men find favor in your eyes; for we have come on a good day; give whatever you wish to your servants and to your son David.

9 And when David's1732 young5288 men came,935 they spoke1696 to Nabal5037 according to all3605 those428 words1697 in the name8034 of David,1732 and ceased.5117

9 And when David's young men came, they spoke to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David.

10 And Nabal5037 answered6030 David's servants,5650 and said,559 Who4310 is David?1732 and who4310 is the son1121 of Jesse?3448 there be many7231 servants5650 now a days3117 that break6555 away every man376 from his master.113

10 And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants today who have broken away every man from his master.

11 Shall I then take3947 my bread,3899 and my water,4325 and my flesh2878 that I have killed2873 for my shearers,1494 and give5414 it to men,582 whom834 I know3045 not from where834 2088 they be?

11 Shall I then take my bread and my water and my meat that I have killed for my shearers, and give it to men whom I know not whence they are?

12 So David's1732 young5288 men turned2015 their way,1870 and went7725 again,7725 and came935 and told5046 him all3605 those428 sayings.1697

12 So David's young men turned about and came back and told David all these words.

13 And David said to the men who were with him, Gird you on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword; and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred remained with the baggage.

14 But one259 of the young5288 men told5046 Abigail,26 Nabal's5037 wife,802 saying,559 Behold,2009 David1732 sent7971 messengers4397 out of the wilderness4057 to salute1288 our master;113 and he railed5860 on them.

14 But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to bless our master; and he railed at them.

15 But the men582 were very3966 good2896 to us, and we were not hurt,3637 neither3808 missed6485 we any3972 thing,1697 as long3117 as we were conversant1980 with them, when we were in the fields:7704

15 But the men were very good to us and did not hurt us, and neither have they caused us to miss anything all the time that we went with them;

16 They were a wall2346 to us both1571 by night3915 and day,3119 all3605 the while3117 we were with them keeping7462 the sheep.6629

16 And when we were in the wilderness, they were a wall to us both by night and day, and all the time we were with them tending the sheep.

17 Now6258 therefore know3045 and consider7200 what4100 you will do;6213 for evil7451 is determined3615 against413 our master,113 and against5921 all3605 his household:1004 for he is such a son1121 of Belial,1100 that a man cannot speak1696 to him.

17 Now therefore know and consider what you will do; for evil is determined against our master and against all his household; and Nabal was with the shepherds.

18 Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves of bread and two skins of wine and five sheep ready dressed and five measures of parched wheat and one hundred cheeses and two hundred bunches of raisins, and laid them on asses.

19 And she said559 to her servants,5288 Go5674 on before6440 me; behold,2005 I come935 after310 you. But she told5046 not her husband376 Nabal.5037

19 And she said to the servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she did not tell her husband Nabal.

20 And it was so, as she rode7392 on5921 the ass,2543 that she came3381 down3381 by the covert5643 on the hill,2022 and, behold,2009 David1732 and his men582 came3381 down3381 against7125 her; and she met6298 them.

20 And as she was riding on the ass and coming down by the covert of the mountain, behold, David and his men were coming up in her direction; and she met them.

21 Now David had said, Surely in vain have we guarded all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missing of all that belonged to him; and he has rewarded us evil for good.

22 So3541 and more3254 also3541 do6213 God430 to the enemies341 of David,1732 if518 I leave7604 of all3605 that pertain to him by the morning1242 light216 any that urinates8366 against the wall.7023

22 The LORD do so and more also to his servant David, if I leave of all that belongs to him by morning any mature male.

23 And when Abigail26 saw7200 David,1732 she hurried,4116 and lighted3381 off5921 the ass,2543 and fell5307 before639 David1732 on5921 her face,6440 and bowed7812 herself to the ground,776

23 And when Abigail saw David, she hastened and alighted from the ass, and fell before David on her face and bowed herself to the ground,

24 And fell5307 at5921 his feet,7272 and said,559 On me, my lord,113 on me let this iniquity5771 be: and let your handmaid,519 I pray4994 you, speak1696 in your audience,241 and hear8085 the words1697 of your handmaid.519

24 And fell at his feet, and said, I beseech you, my lord, let this iniquity be upon me, my lord; and let your handmaid speak before you concerning this man Nabal.

25 For as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and his folly is with him; but I, your handmaid, did not see the young men whom my lord sent.

26 Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, my lord, seeing the LORD has withholden you from coming to shed blood, now, my lord, let your enemies and those who seek to do evil to you be as Nabal.

27 And now6258 this2063 blessing1293 which834 your handmaid8198 has brought935 to my lord,113 let it even be given5414 to the young5288 men that follow1980 7272 my lord.113

27 And now this present which your handmaid has brought to my lord, let it be given to the young men that follow my lord.

28 Forgive this trespass of your handmaid; for the LORD will certainly make for my lord a sure house; because my lord is fighting the battles of the LORD, and evil has not been found in you all your days.

29 Yet a man is resolved to pursue you and to seek your life; but the life of my lord is bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God; but the lives of your enemies the LORD shall throw out of a sling.

30 And it shall come1961 to pass, when3588 the LORD3068 shall have done6213 to my lord113 according to all3605 the good2896 that he has spoken1696 concerning5921 you, and shall have appointed6680 you ruler5057 over Israel;3478

30 And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you, and shall have appointed you ruler over Israel,

31 That this shall not be a grief to you, nor an offence in your heart, to shed blood without cause; and when the LORD shall have dealt well with you, then remember your handmaid.

32 And David1732 said559 to Abigail,26 Blessed1288 be the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 which834 sent7971 you this2088 day3117 to meet7125 me:

32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel who sent you this day to meet me;

33 And blessed1288 be your advice,2940 and blessed1288 be you, which834 have kept3607 me this2088 day3117 from coming935 to shed blood,1818 and from avenging3467 myself with my own hand.3027

33 And blessed be your advice, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and spared my hands this day from shedding blood.

34 For indeed, as the LORD God of Israel lives, who has restrained me from hurting you, if you had not made haste and come to meet me, surely there would not have been left to Nabal by the morning any mature male.

35 So David1732 received3947 of her hand3027 that which834 she had brought935 him, and said559 to her, Go5927 up in peace7965 to your house;1004 see,7200 I have listened8085 to your voice,6963 and have accepted5375 your person.6440

35 So David received of her hands that which she had brought, and said to her, Go up in peace to your house; see, I have hearkened to your voice and have accepted your person.

36 And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk; wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning.

37 But it came1961 to pass in the morning,1242 when the wine3196 was gone3318 out of Nabal,5037 and his wife802 had told5046 him these428 things,1697 that his heart3820 died4191 within7130 him, and he became1961 as a stone.68

37 But it came to pass in the morning, when he had shaken off the effects of wine, that his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him and he became paralyzed.

38 And it came1961 to pass about ten6235 days3117 after, that the LORD3068 smote5062 Nabal,5037 that he died.4191

38 And it came to pass about ten days after, the LORD smote Nabal and he died.

40 And when the servants5650 of David1732 were come935 to Abigail26 to Carmel,3760 they spoke1696 to her, saying,559 David1732 sent7971 us to you, to take3947 you to him to wife.802

40 And when the servants of David came to Abigail at Carmel, they spoke to her, saying, David has sent us to you, to take you to him to wife.

41 And she arose,6965 and bowed7812 herself on her face639 to the earth,776 and said,559 Behold,2009 let your handmaid519 be a servant5650 to wash7364 the feet7272 of the servants5650 of my lord.113

41 And she arose and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let your handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.

42 And Abigail26 hurried,4116 and arose 6965and rode7392 on an ass,2543 with five2568 damsels5291 of hers that went1980 after7272 her; and she went3212 after310 the messengers4397 of David,1732 and became1961 his wife.802

42 And Abigail hastened and arose, and rode upon an ass with five of her maidens who went after her; and she went with the messengers of David and became his wife.

43 David1732 also took3947 Ahinoam293 of Jezreel;3157 and they were also both8147 of them his wives.802

43 David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and both of them became his wives.

44 But Saul7586 had given5414 Michal4324 his daughter,1323 David's1732 wife,802 to Phalti6406 the son1121 of Laish,3919 which834 was of Gallim.1554

44 But Saul had given Malchel his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim.
