Chapter 1

2 Beloved,27 I wish2172 above4012 all3956 things that you may prosper2137 and be in health,5198 even2531 as your soul5590 prospers.2137

3 For I rejoiced5463 greatly,3029 when the brothers80 came2064 and testified3140 of the truth225 that is in you, even2531 as you walk4043 in the truth.225

4 I have2192 no3756 greater3186 joy5479 than to hear191 that my children5043 walk4043 in truth.225

5 Beloved,27 you do4160 faithfully4103 whatever3739 1437 you do4160 to the brothers,80 and to strangers;3581

9 I wrote1125 to the church:1577 but Diotrephes,1361 who3588 loves5383 to have the preeminence5383 among1722 them, receives1926 us not.

10 Why,1223 5124 if1437 I come,2064 I will remember5279 his deeds2041 which he does,4160 prating5396 against5396 us with malicious4190 words:3056 and not content714 therewith,1909 5125 neither3777 does he himself846 receive1926 the brothers,80 and forbids2967 them that would,1014 and casts1544 them out of the church.1577

11 Beloved,27 follow3401 not that which is evil,2556 but that which is good.18 He that does15 good15 is of God:2316 but he that does2554 evil2554 has not seen3708 God.2316

12 Demetrius1216 has good report3140 of all3956 men, and of the truth225 itself:846 yes,1161 and we also2532 bear record;3140 and you know1492 that our record3141 is true.227

13 I had2192 many4183 things to write,1125 but I will2309 not with ink3188 and pen2563 write1125 to you:

2 Улю́блений, — я молюся, щоб добре вело́ся в усьому тобі, і щоб був ти здоровий, як добре веде́ться душі твоїй.

3 Бо я дуже зрадів, як прийшли були браття, і засві́дчили правду твою, як ти живеш у правді.

4 Я не маю більшої радости від цієї, щоб чути, що діти мої живуть у правді.

5 Улю́блений, — вірно ти чи́ниш, як що робиш для братті та для чужи́нців, —

6 вони про любов твою свідчили Церкві; добре ти зробиш, як їх ви́провадиш, як достойно для Бога,

7 бо вийшли вони ради Йме́ння Його, нічого не взявши від поган.

8 Отож, ми повинні приймати таких, щоб бути співробі́тниками правді.

9 Я до Церкви писав був, але Діотре́ф, що любить бути першим у них, нас не приймає.

10 Тому́ то, коли я прийду́, то згадаю про вчинки його, що їх ро́бить, словами лихими обмовля́ючи нас. І він тим не задово́льнюється, — а й сам не приймає братів, і тим, що бажають приймати, боронить, і виго́нить із Церкви.

11 Улюблений, — не робися подібним до лихо́го, а до доброго: доброчинець від Бога, а злочинець Бога не бачив.

12 Про Димитрія сві́дчили всі й сама правда. І сві́дчимо й ми, а ви знаєте, що свідчення наше правдиве.

13 Багато хотів я писати, та не хочу писати до тебе чорнилом та очерети́нкою,

14 але маю надію побачити тебе незаба́ром, і говорити уста́ми до уст.
