Chapter 36

1 THEN the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.

2 And Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.

3 And the king of Egypt deposed him,

4 And he made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Pharaoh the lame took Jehoahaz his brother and carried him to Egypt, and he died there.

5 Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.

6 Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in chains to carry him to Babylon.

7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried away some of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon and put them in his temple in Babylon.

8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim and the abominations which he did, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

9 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

10 And when the year was expired, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon sent a force against him and brought him to Babylon, both him and the precious vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.

12 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who prophesied from the mouth of the LORD.

13 And he also rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by the name of the LORD; but he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart and would not pray before the LORD God of Israel.

14 Moreover all the chiefs of the priests and of the Levites and of the people transgressed very much after all the abominations of the nations, and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.

15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, giving useful advice in advance; because he had compassion on his people and on the flock that he had chosen;

16 But they laughed at the messengers of the LORD and despised their words and mocked his prophets until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

17 Therefore he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and who had no compassion upon young men or virgins, nor upon the old men, nor upon babies; he delivered them all into his hand.

18 And all the vessels of the house of the LORD, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king and of his princes, all these he brought to Babylon.

19 And they burned the house of the LORD and broke down the walls of Jerusalem and burned all its palaces with fire and destroyed all the costly vessels thereof.

20 And those who had escaped from the sword he carried away captive to Babylon, where they became servants to him and to his sons until the LORD delivered the kingdom to the Persians;

21 To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah the prophet until the land had enjoyed its sabbaths, all the days that it lay desolate until the seventy years were completed.

22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah the prophet might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and put it also in writing, saying,

23 Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth has the LORD God of heaven given me; and he has charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people with whom the LORD his God is pleased? Let him go up, and let him come to me.

1 Народ страны взял сына Иосии Иоахаза и сделал его царём в Иерусалиме вместо его отца.

2 Иоахазу было двадцать три года, когда он стал царём, и правил он в Иерусалиме три месяца.

3 Царь Египта низложил его в Иерусалиме и обложил Иудею данью в три тысячи шестьсот килограммов серебра и тридцать шесть килограммов золота.

4 Царь Египта сделал царём Иудеи и Иерусалима брата Иоахаза Элиакима, и дал ему новое имя – Иоаким. А его брата, Иоахаза, Нехо увёл в Египет.

5 Иоакиму было двадцать пять лет, когда он стал царём, и правил он в Иерусалиме одиннадцать лет. Он делал зло в глазах Вечного, своего Бога.

6 Навуходоносор, . царь Вавилона, напал на него, заковал его в бронзовые кандалы и увёл в Вавилон.

7 Ещё Навуходоносор забрал в Вавилон часть утвари из храма Вечного и положил её там в своём храме. .

8 Прочие события царствования Иоакима, мерзости, которые он делал, и всё, в чём он был виноват, записаны в «Книге царей Исраила и Иудеи». И царём вместо него стал его сын Иехония.

9 Иехонии было восемнадцать лет, когда он стал царём, и правил он в Иерусалиме три месяца и десять дней. Он делал зло в глазах Вечного.

10 Весной царь Навуходоносор послал за ним, и его доставили в Вавилон, а заодно забрали дорогую утварь из храма Вечного. А царём Иудеи и Иерусалима вместо него он сделал дядю Иехонии Цедекию.

11 Цедекии был двадцать один год, когда он стал царём, и правил он в Иерусалиме одиннадцать лет.

12 Он делал зло в глазах Вечного, своего Бога, и не смирил себя перед пророком Иеремией, который возвещал слово Вечного.

13 Ещё он восстал против царя Навуходоносора, который взял с него клятву именем Всевышнего. Он стал таким упрямым и своевольным, что не обращался к Вечному, Богу Исраила.

14 Да и все вожди священнослужителей и народ всё больше и больше уклонялись от верности, следуя отвратительным обычаям народов и оскверняя храм Вечного, который Он освятил в Иерусалиме.

15 Вечный, Бог их предков, снова и снова предупреждал их через своих посланников, потому что жалел Свой народ и Своё жилище.

16 Но они издевались над посланниками Всевышнего, презирали Его слова и глумились над Его пророками, пока гнев Вечного не вспыхнул на Его народ так, что уже не было ему спасения.

17 Он навёл на них царя вавилонян, который перебил их юношей мечом в святилище и не пожалел ни юноши, ни девушки, ни старца, ни пожилого. Всевышний отдал их всех во власть Навуходоносора,

18 который унёс в Вавилон все вещи из храма Всевышнего, и большие, и маленькие, вместе с сокровищами храма Вечного и сокровищами царя и его приближённых.

19 Храм Всевышнего был сожжён, а стены Иерусалима разрушены. Все его дворцы были сожжены, и всё ценное в городе уничтожено.

20 Навуходоносор угнал в плен в Вавилон всех, кто избежал меча, и они служили ему и его сыновьям, пока не набрало мощь Персидское царство.

21 А страна наслаждалась субботним покоем. Она хранила субботу всё время своего запустения, пока не исполнились семьдесят лет, предречённые словом Вечного, которое возвестил пророк Иеремия.

22 В первый год правления Кира, . царя Персии (в 538 г. до н. э.), чтобы исполнилось слово Вечного, которое возвестил Иеремия, Вечный побудил Кира, царя Персии, объявить по всему своему царству и записать такой указ:

23 «Так говорит Кир, царь Персии: Вечный, Бог небес, отдал мне все царства земли и поручил мне построить Ему храм в Иерусалиме, в Иудее. Всякий из вас, кто принадлежит к Его народу, – да будет с ним его Бог! – может отправляться в путь».

2 And Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.

10 And when the year was expired, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon sent a force against him and brought him to Babylon, both him and the precious vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

10 Весной царь Навуходоносор послал за ним, и его доставили в Вавилон, а заодно забрали дорогую утварь из храма Вечного. А царём Иудеи и Иерусалима вместо него он сделал дядю Иехонии Цедекию.

11 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.

12 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who prophesied from the mouth of the LORD.

12 Он делал зло в глазах Вечного, своего Бога, и не смирил себя перед пророком Иеремией, который возвещал слово Вечного.

13 And he also rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by the name of the LORD; but he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart and would not pray before the LORD God of Israel.

13 Ещё он восстал против царя Навуходоносора, который взял с него клятву именем Всевышнего. Он стал таким упрямым и своевольным, что не обращался к Вечному, Богу Исраила.

14 Moreover all the chiefs of the priests and of the Levites and of the people transgressed very much after all the abominations of the nations, and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.

14 Да и все вожди священнослужителей и народ всё больше и больше уклонялись от верности, следуя отвратительным обычаям народов и оскверняя храм Вечного, который Он освятил в Иерусалиме.

15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, giving useful advice in advance; because he had compassion on his people and on the flock that he had chosen;

15 Вечный, Бог их предков, снова и снова предупреждал их через своих посланников, потому что жалел Свой народ и Своё жилище.

16 But they laughed at the messengers of the LORD and despised their words and mocked his prophets until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

16 Но они издевались над посланниками Всевышнего, презирали Его слова и глумились над Его пророками, пока гнев Вечного не вспыхнул на Его народ так, что уже не было ему спасения.

17 Therefore he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and who had no compassion upon young men or virgins, nor upon the old men, nor upon babies; he delivered them all into his hand.

17 Он навёл на них царя вавилонян, который перебил их юношей мечом в святилище и не пожалел ни юноши, ни девушки, ни старца, ни пожилого. Всевышний отдал их всех во власть Навуходоносора,

18 And all the vessels of the house of the LORD, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king and of his princes, all these he brought to Babylon.

18 который унёс в Вавилон все вещи из храма Всевышнего, и большие, и маленькие, вместе с сокровищами храма Вечного и сокровищами царя и его приближённых.

19 And they burned the house of the LORD and broke down the walls of Jerusalem and burned all its palaces with fire and destroyed all the costly vessels thereof.

19 Храм Всевышнего был сожжён, а стены Иерусалима разрушены. Все его дворцы были сожжены, и всё ценное в городе уничтожено.

20 And those who had escaped from the sword he carried away captive to Babylon, where they became servants to him and to his sons until the LORD delivered the kingdom to the Persians;

20 Навуходоносор угнал в плен в Вавилон всех, кто избежал меча, и они служили ему и его сыновьям, пока не набрало мощь Персидское царство.

21 To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah the prophet until the land had enjoyed its sabbaths, all the days that it lay desolate until the seventy years were completed.

21 А страна наслаждалась субботним покоем. Она хранила субботу всё время своего запустения, пока не исполнились семьдесят лет, предречённые словом Вечного, которое возвестил пророк Иеремия.
