1 Samuel

Chapter 8

1 AND it came to pass, when Samuel was old, he made his sons judges over Israel.

2 Now the name of his first-born son was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah; they were judges in Beer-sheba.

3 But his sons did not walk in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes and perverted judgment.

4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together and came to Samuel to Ramtha,

5 And they said to him, Behold, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways; now give us a king to judge us like all the nations.

6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said to him, Give us a king to judge us like all the nations. And Samuel prayed before the LORD.

7 And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken to the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt even to this day, as they have forsaken me and served other gods, so do they also to you.

9 Now therefore hearken to their voice; but testify solemnly to them, and show them the law of the king who shall reign over them.

10 And Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked of him a king.

11 Then he said, This will be the law of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and appoint them for himself for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and they shall run before his chariots.

12 And he will appoint for himself officers of thousands and officers of hundreds and officers of fifties and officers of tens. And they shall plow his ground and reap his harvest and make his implements of war and instruments for his chariots.

13 And he will take your daughters to be weavers and grinders and bakers.

14 And he will take the best of your fields and your vineyards and your oliveyards, and give them to his servants.

15 And he will take the tenth of your crops and of your vineyards, and give to his officers and to his servants.

16 And he will take your menservants and your maidservants, and your goodly young men and your asses, and put them to his work.

17 He will take the tenth of your sheep; and you shall be his servants.

18 And you shall cry for help in that day because of your king whom you shall have chosen for yourselves; and the LORD will not answer you on that day.

19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said to him, No; but we will have a king over us,

20 That we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.

21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them before the LORD.

22 And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken to their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said to the men of Israel, Go every man to his city.

3 Но сыновья1121 его не ходили1980 путями1870 его, а уклонились5186 в310 корысть1215 и брали3947 подарки,7810 и судили4941 превратно.5186

4 И собрались6908 все старейшины2205 Израиля,3478 и пришли935 к Самуилу8050 в Раму,7414

5 и сказали559 ему: вот, ты состарился,2204 а сыновья1121 твои не ходят1980 путями1870 твоими; итак поставь7760 над нами царя,4428 чтобы он судил8199 нас, как у прочих народов.1471

6 И не3415 понравилось3415 слово1697 сие Самуилу,8050 когда они сказали:559 дай5414 нам царя,4428 чтобы он судил8199 нас. И молился6419 Самуил8050 Господу.3068

7 И сказал559 Господь3068 Самуилу:8050 послушай8085 голоса6963 народа5971 во всем, что они говорят559 тебе; ибо не тебя они отвергли,3988 но отвергли3988 Меня, чтоб Я не царствовал4427 над ними;

8 как они поступали6213 с того дня,3117 в который Я вывел5927 их из Египта,4714 и до сего дня,3117 оставляли5800 Меня и служили5647 иным312 богам,430 так поступают6213 они с тобою;

9 итак послушай8085 голоса6963 их; только389 представь5749 им и объяви5046 им права4941 царя,4428 который будет4427 царствовать4427 над ними.

10 И пересказал559 Самуил8050 все слова1697 Господа3068 народу,5971 просящему7592 у него царя,4428

11 и сказал:559 вот какие будут права4941 царя,4428 который будет царствовать4427 над вами: сыновей1121 ваших он возьмет3947 и приставит7760 их к колесницам4818 своим и сделает всадниками6571 своими, и будут они бегать7323 пред3942 колесницами4818 его;

12 и поставит7760 их у себя тысяченачальниками8269505 и пятидесятниками,82692572 и чтобы они возделывали2790 поля2758 его, и жали7114 хлеб7105 его, и делали6213 ему воинское4421 оружие3627 и колесничный7393 прибор3627 его;

13 и дочерей1323 ваших возьмет,3947 чтоб они составляли7548 масти,7548 варили2879 кушанье2879 и пекли644 хлебы;

14 и поля7704 ваши и виноградные3754 и масличные2132 сады2132 ваши лучшие2896 возьмет,3947 и отдаст5414 слугам5650 своим;

15 и от посевов2233 ваших и из виноградных3754 садов3754 ваших возьмет6237 десятую6237 часть6237 и отдаст5414 евнухам5631 своим и слугам5650 своим;

16 и рабов5650 ваших и рабынь8198 ваших, и юношей970 ваших лучших,2896 и ослов2543 ваших возьмет3947 и употребит6213 на свои дела;4399

17 от мелкого6629 скота6629 вашего возьмет6237 десятую6237 часть,6237 и сами вы будете ему рабами;5650

18 и восстенаете2199 тогда3117 от6440 царя4428 вашего, которого вы избрали977 себе; и не будет Господь3068 отвечать6030 вам тогда.3117

19 Но народ5971 не3985 согласился3985 послушаться8085 голоса6963 Самуила,8050 и сказал:559 нет, пусть царь4428 будет над нами,

20 и мы будем как прочие народы:1471 будет8199 судить8199 нас царь4428 наш, и ходить3318 пред3942 нами, и вести3898 войны4421 наши.

21 И выслушал8085 Самуил8050 все слова1697 народа,5971 и пересказал1696 их вслух241 Господа.3068

22 И сказал559 Господь3068 Самуилу:8050 послушай8085 голоса6963 их и поставь4427 им царя.4428 И сказал559 Самуил8050 Израильтянам:5823478 пойдите3212 каждый376 в свой город.5892
