Глава 50

1 Иосиф тотчас бросился к отцу и, покрывая лицо его поцелуями, плакал над ним.

2 Врачам, из числа слуг своих, он повелел приступить к бальзамированию тела Израиля, отца своего. И те тотчас же взялись за свое дело,

3 завершив бальзамирование через сорок дней — столько для этого требовалось времени. Египтяне оплакивали умершего семьдесят дней.

4 Когда окончились дни плача, Иосиф сказал придворным фараона: «Если вы благоволите мне, передайте, пожалуйста, фараону,

5 что отец мой, умирая, взял с меня клятву, что я похороню его в усыпальнице, которую он приготовил для себя в земле ханаанской. Прошу, отпустите меня, чтобы я мог пойти похоронить отца; а потом я вернусь».

6 «Иди, — сказал фараон, — и похорони отца — сделай то, в чем он просил тебя заверить его клятвенно».

7 Отправился Иосиф хоронить отца своего, и с ним пошли все придворные фараона — знатнейшие сановники его — и все старейшины Египта,

8 так же как и вся семья Иосифа, его братья и домочадцы отца его. В земле Гошен остались только дети малые да скот.

9 Сопровождали Иосифа и колесницы, и конница — шествие было великое.

10 Дойдя до Горен-ха-Атада, что на другой стороне Иордана, они остановились там, чтобы излить скорбь свою в горьких воплях; и провел Иосиф семь дней в плаче по отцу своему.

11 Ханаанеи, жившие там и ставшие свидетелями плача в Горен-ха-Атаде, говорили один другому: «Посмотрите, как горько скорбят египтяне!» Это место за Иорданом так и стало называться Авель-Мицраим.

12 Сыновья Иакова выполнили его предсмертную волю:

13 перенесли его тело в Ханаан и похоронили в пещере на поле, что при Махпеле, на восток от Мамре, на том самом поле, которое Авраам в свое время купил у Эфрона-хетта для усыпальницы родовой.

14 Похоронив отца, Иосиф, его братья и все, кто ходил с ним предать усопшего земле, вернулись в Египет.

15 Понимая, что уже нет в живых их отца, заступника их, братья Иосифа стали говорить между собой: «А что, если Иосиф питает недобрые чувства к нам и однажды захочет отплатить за всё то зло, что мы причинили ему?»

16 Поэтому они послали Иосифу такую весть: «Твой отец перед смертью дал нам наказ:

17 „Скажите Иосифу: я очень прошу тебя, прости преступление и грех братьев твоих, которые тебе такое зло причинили“. Так вот и мы теперь молим тебя: прости нам преступление наше, мы ведь тоже рабы Бога отца твоего». Услышав это, Иосиф заплакал.

18 Затем пришли и сами братья, пали к ногам его и сказали: «Мы — рабы твои».

19 «Не бойтесь! — отвечал им Иосиф. — Разве я вместо Бога могу что-нибудь делать?

20 Да, вы замышляли сделать мне зло, но по замыслу Бога это благом великим обернулось, чтобы совершить ныне очевидное: спасти жизнь стольких людей!

21 Не бойтесь, я буду заботиться о вас и детях ваших». И, говоря с ними от сердца к сердцу, он успокоил их.

22 Так и остался Иосиф в Египте: и он, и семья отца его. Он прожил сто десять лет.

23 Довелось ему увидеть внуков Ефрема — своих правнуков. Видел он и детей Махира, сына Манассии, коих ввел он в число прямых наследников своих.

24 Пришло время, и Иосиф сказал своим братьям: «Вот я умираю. Бог же непременно явит вам милость Свою и выведет вас отсюда в ту землю, которую Он клятвенно обещал Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову».

25 Иосиф взял с сынов Израилевых клятву, что, когда Бог явит им Свою милость, они унесут из Египта останки его.

26 И умер Иосиф в Египте в возрасте ста десяти лет, тело его набальзамировали и положили в гроб.

Chapter 50

1 AND Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept over him, and kissed him.

2 Then Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father; and the physicians embalmed Israel.

3 And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those who are embalmed; and the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.

4 And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke to the household of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found mercy in your eyes, speak in the presence of Pharaoh, saying,

5 My father made me swear, saying, Behold I am dying; in my grave which I bought for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me. Now therefore let me go up and bury my father, and I will come back again,

6 And Pharaoh said, Go up and bury your father, according as he made you swear.

7 So Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his household, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

8 And all the household of Joseph, his brothers, and his father's household; only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.

9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen; and it was a very great company.

10 And they came to the threshing floor of Atar, which is beyond the Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation; and Joseph made a mourning for his father seven days.

11 And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the threshing floor of Atar, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians; therefore the name of it was called Abel-mizrin, which is beyond Jordan.

12 And his sons did to Jacob just as he had commanded them;

13 For they carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the double cave, which is in the field, which Abraham purchased with the field for a possession for a burial ground from Ephron, the Hittite, before Mamre.

14 And Joseph returned to Egypt, he and his brothers, and all who went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

15 And when Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they were afraid, saying. It may be Joseph will harm us, and perhaps he will requite us all the evil which we did to him.

16 So they came to Joseph and said to him, Your father did command before he died, saying,

17 Thus shall you say to Joseph, Forgive, we pray you now, the trespass of your brothers and their sins; for they did evil to you; and now forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

18 And his brothers also went and fell down before him; and they said, Behold, we are your servants.

19 But Joseph said to them, Fear not; for I am a servant of God.

20 But as for you, you thought evil against me; but God meant it for good, to do as he has done this day, to save many lives.

21 Now therefore do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.

22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and all his father's house; and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years.

23 And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation; the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.

24 And Joseph said to his brothers, I am dying; and God will surely remember you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely remember you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you.

26 So Joseph died, being a hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him and put him in a coffin in Egypt.

4 Когда окончились дни плача, Иосиф сказал придворным фараона: «Если вы благоволите мне, передайте, пожалуйста, фараону,	4 And when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke to the household of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found mercy in your eyes, speak in the presence of Pharaoh, saying,
5 что отец мой, умирая, взял с меня клятву, что я похороню его в усыпальнице, которую он приготовил для себя в земле ханаанской. Прошу, отпустите меня, чтобы я мог пойти похоронить отца; а потом я вернусь».	5 My father made me swear, saying, Behold I am dying; in my grave which I bought for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me. Now therefore let me go up and bury my father, and I will come back again,
6 «Иди, — сказал фараон, — и похорони отца — сделай то, в чем он просил тебя заверить его клятвенно».	6 And Pharaoh said, Go up and bury your father, according as he made you swear.
7 Отправился Иосиф хоронить отца своего, и с ним пошли все придворные фараона — знатнейшие сановники его — и все старейшины Египта,	7 So Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his household, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,
8 так же как и вся семья Иосифа, его братья и домочадцы отца его. В земле Гошен остались только дети малые да скот.	8 And all the household of Joseph, his brothers, and his father's household; only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.
9 Сопровождали Иосифа и колесницы, и конница — шествие было великое.	9 And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen; and it was a very great company.

15 Понимая, что уже нет в живых их отца, заступника их, братья Иосифа стали говорить между собой: «А что, если Иосиф питает недобрые чувства к нам и однажды захочет отплатить за всё то зло, что мы причинили ему?»	15 And when Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they were afraid, saying. It may be Joseph will harm us, and perhaps he will requite us all the evil which we did to him.
16 Поэтому они послали Иосифу такую весть: «Твой отец перед смертью дал нам наказ:	16 So they came to Joseph and said to him, Your father did command before he died, saying,
17 „Скажите Иосифу: я очень прошу тебя, прости преступление и грех братьев твоих, которые тебе такое зло причинили“. Так вот и мы теперь молим тебя: прости нам преступление наше, мы ведь тоже рабы Бога отца твоего». Услышав это, Иосиф заплакал.	17 Thus shall you say to Joseph, Forgive, we pray you now, the trespass of your brothers and their sins; for they did evil to you; and now forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18 Затем пришли и сами братья, пали к ногам его и сказали: «Мы — рабы твои».	18 And his brothers also went and fell down before him; and they said, Behold, we are your servants.
19 «Не бойтесь! — отвечал им Иосиф. — Разве я вместо Бога могу что-нибудь делать?	19 But Joseph said to them, Fear not; for I am a servant of God.
20 Да, вы замышляли сделать мне зло, но по замыслу Бога это благом великим обернулось, чтобы совершить ныне очевидное: спасти жизнь стольких людей!	20 But as for you, you thought evil against me; but God meant it for good, to do as he has done this day, to save many lives.
21 Не бойтесь, я буду заботиться о вас и детях ваших». И, говоря с ними от сердца к сердцу, он успокоил их.	21 Now therefore do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.
22 Так и остался Иосиф в Египте: и он, и семья отца его. Он прожил сто десять лет.	22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and all his father's house; and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years.
23 Довелось ему увидеть внуков Ефрема — своих правнуков. Видел он и детей Махира, сына Манассии, коих ввел он в число прямых наследников своих.	23 And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation; the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were brought up upon Joseph's knees.
24 Пришло время, и Иосиф сказал своим братьям: «Вот я умираю. Бог же непременно явит вам милость Свою и выведет вас отсюда в ту землю, которую Он клятвенно обещал Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову».	24 And Joseph said to his brothers, I am dying; and God will surely remember you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
25 Иосиф взял с сынов Израилевых клятву, что, когда Бог явит им Свою милость, они унесут из Египта останки его.	25 And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely remember you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you.
26 И умер Иосиф в Египте в возрасте ста десяти лет, тело его набальзамировали и положили в гроб.	26 So Joseph died, being a hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him and put him in a coffin in Egypt.
