Глава 39

1 Знаешь ли время родов у скачущих по скалам, смотришь ли за родильными муками ланей?

2 Расчислял ли ты месяцы беременности их, и знаешь ли время, когда родить им?

3 Они гнутся, мечут детей своих, бросают ноши свои.

4 Дети их приходят в силу, растут на чистом поле, расходятся, и к ним не возвращаются.

5 Кто пустил дикого осла на свободу, и кто разрешил узы онагру.

6 Которому дал Я степь вместо дома, и в жилище землю соленую?

7 Смеется шуму города, не слышит криков погонщика;

8 Что найдет на горах, то и корм ему, и всякой зелени ищет.

9 Захочет ли буйвол служить тебе, будет ли ночевать у яслей твоих?

10 Привяжешь ли буйвола веревкою его к борозде? Станет ли он боронить поля за тобою?

11 Понадеешься ли на него, потому что сила его велика, и возложишь ли на него работы твои?

12 Поверишь ли ему, что он возвратит семена твои, и соберет в гумно твое?

13 Весело развевается крыло страусово; аистово ли это перо и пух?

14 Ибо он оставляет земле яйца свои, и на песке согревает их;

15 И забывает, что нога может раздавить их, и зверь полевой может растоптать их.

16 Жесток к детям своим, как не к своим; тщетен бывает труд его, бесстрашного;

17 Потому что Бог не дал ему мудрости, и не уделил ему благоразумия.

18 А когда взмахнет крыльями к верху, посмевается коню и всаднику его.

19 Ты ли дал коню мужество, ты ли выю его спесью облек?

20 Ты ли научил его скакать, как саранчу? Величественный храп его - ужас!

21 Роет равнину, и восхищается силою, идет навстречу оружию.

22 Смеется ужасу, и не робеет, и не пятится от меча.

23 Скрежещет на него колчан, сверкает копье и пика.

24 В порыве и ярости он глотает землю; и не может стоять на месте, когда трубит труба.

25 При звуке трубном говорит: `го! го!` и издалека обоняет битву, громовой глас вождей и воинский крик.

26 Твоим ли умом летает ястреб, расширяет крылья свои на полдень?

27 По твоему ли слову орел возносится, и строит на высоте гнездо свое?

28 На скалах живет, и ночует на зубцах каменных гор и утесов.

29 Оттуда высматривает пищу; далеко видят глаза его.

30 И питаются кровью птенцы его; где убиенные, там и он.

31 Так Иегова глаголал Иову, и сказал:

32 Будет ли теперь учитель состязаться со Вседержителем? Обличающий Бога, отвечай на сие.

33 И ответствовал Иов Иегове, и сказал:

34 Се! я ничтожен; какой дам ответ Тебе? руку мою полагаю на уста мои.

35 Однажды я говорить начал, и не могу отвечать; а в другой раз говорить уже не буду.
