Глава 4

1 Адам познал Еву, свою жену, и она забеременела и родила Каина. Она сказала: «С помощью Господа я приобрела человека».

2 Потом она родила его брата Авеля. Авель пас стада, а Каин обрабатывал землю.

3 Через некоторое время Каин принес в дар Господу плоды земли,

4 а Авель пожертвовал жирные части первородных своего стада. Авель и его дар были угодны Господу,

5 но Каин и его дар не были угодны Ему. Каин разгневался, и лицо его потемнело от гнева.

6 Тогда Господь сказал Каину: — Почему ты сердишься? Почему твое лицо потемнело?

7 Если ты будешь поступать правильно, неужели ты не будешь принят? Но если ты поступаешь неправильно, то у твоих дверей притаился грех: он желает овладеть тобой, но ты должен властвовать над ним.

8 Каин сказал своему брату Авелю: — Пойдем в поле. Когда они были в поле, Каин накинулся на своего брата Авеля и убил его.

9 Тогда Господь сказал Каину: — Где твой брат Авель? — Не знаю, — ответил тот. — Разве я сторож моему брату?

10 Господь сказал: — Что ты наделал? Кровь твоего брата взывает ко Мне из земли.

11 Теперь ты проклят, изгнан с земли, которая разверзлась, чтобы принять кровь твоего брата, пролитую твоей рукой.

12 Когда ты будешь трудиться на земле, она не станет больше плодоносить для тебя. Ты будешь на земле бесприютным скитальцем.

13 Каин сказал Господу: — Мое наказание тяжелее, чем я могу вынести.

14 Ныне Ты гонишь меня с лица земли, и я буду скрыт от Твоего присутствия: я буду на земле бесприютным скитальцем, и первый же встречный убьет меня.

15 Но Господь сказал ему: — Нет. Если кто убьет Каина, тот примет за это семикратное возмездие. И Господь сделал Каину метку, чтобы никто, встретившись с ним, не убил его.

16 Каин ушел от Господа и жил в земле Нод, к востоку от Эдема.

17 Каин познал свою жену, и она забеременела и родила Еноха. В то время Каин строил город и назвал его по имени своего сына Еноха.

18 У Еноха родился Ирад, у Ирада родился Мехиаель, у Мехиаеля родился Метушаэл, и у Метушаэла родился Ламех.

19 Ламех взял себе в жены двух женщин: одну звали Ада, другую Цилла.

20 Ада родила Иавала: он стал отцом тех, кто живет в шатрах и разводит скот.

21 Его брата звали Иувал: он стал отцом всех, кто играет на арфе и свирели.

22 У Циллы тоже был сын, Тувал-Каин, который ковал все виды орудий из бронзы и железа. Сестрой Тувал-Каина была Наама.

23 Ламех сказал своим женам: — Ада и Цилла, послушайте меня, жены Ламеха, внимайте моим словам. Я убил мужчину за то, что он ранил меня, юношу за то, что он ударил меня.

24 Если за Каина отомстится в семь раз, то за Ламеха в семьдесят семь раз.

25 Адам вновь познал жену свою, и она родила сына и назвала его Сиф, говоря: «Бог даровал мне другое дитя вместо Авеля, которого убил Каин».

26 У Сифа тоже был сын, и он назвал его Енос. В то время люди начали призывать имя Господа.

Chapter 4

1 And Adam120 knew3045 Eve2332 his wife;802 and she conceived,2029 and bore3205 Cain,7014 and said,559 I have gotten7069 a man376 from the LORD.3068

2 And she again3254 bore3205 his brother251 Abel.1893 And Abel1893 was a keeper7462 of sheep,6629 but Cain7014 was a tiller5647 of the ground.127

3 And in process7093 of time3117 it came1961 to pass, that Cain7014 brought935 of the fruit6529 of the ground127 an offering4503 to the LORD.3068

4 And Abel,1893 he also1571 brought935 of the firstborn1062 of his flock6629 and of the fat2459 thereof. And the LORD3068 had respect8159 to Abel1893 and to his offering:4503

5 But to Cain7014 and to his offering4503 he had not respect.8159 And Cain7014 was very3966 wroth,2734 and his countenance6440 fell.5307

6 And the LORD3068 said559 to Cain,7014 Why4100 are you wroth?2734 and why4100 is your countenance6440 fallen?5307

7 If518 you do well,3190 shall you not be accepted?7613 and if518 you do not well,3190 sin2403 lies7257 at the door.6607 And to you shall be his desire,8669 and you shall rule4910 over him.

8 And Cain7014 talked559 with Abel1893 his brother:251 and it came1961 to pass, when they were in the field,7704 that Cain7014 rose6965 up against413 Abel1893 his brother,251 and slew2026 him.

9 And the LORD3068 said559 to Cain,7014 Where335 is Abel1893 your brother?251 And he said,559 I know3045 not: Am I my brother's251 keeper?8104

10 And he said,559 What4100 have you done?6213 the voice6963 of your brother's251 blood1818 cries6817 to me from the ground.127

11 And now6258 are you cursed779 from the earth,127 which834 has opened6475 her mouth6310 to receive3947 your brother's251 blood1818 from your hand;3027

12 When3588 you till5647 the ground,127 it shall not from now on3254 yield5414 to you her strength;3581 a fugitive5128 and a vagabond5110 shall you be in the earth.776

13 And Cain7014 said559 to the LORD,3068 My punishment5771 is greater1419 than I can bear.5375

14 Behold,2005 you have driven1644 me out this day3117 from the face6440 of the earth;127 and from your face6440 shall I be hid;5641 and I shall be a fugitive5128 and a vagabond5110 in the earth;776 and it shall come1961 to pass, that every3605 one that finds4672 me shall slay2026 me.

15 And the LORD3068 said559 to him, Therefore3651 whoever3605 slays2026 Cain,7014 vengeance5358 shall be taken on him sevenfold.7659 And the LORD3068 set7760 a mark226 on Cain,7014 lest1115 any3605 finding4672 him should kill5221 him.

16 And Cain7014 went3318 out from the presence6440 of the LORD,3068 and dwelled3427 in the land776 of Nod,5113 on the east6926 of Eden.5731

17 And Cain7014 knew3045 his wife;802 and she conceived,2029 and bore3205 Enoch:2585 and he built1129 a city,5892 and called7121 the name8034 of the city,5892 after the name8034 of his son,1121 Enoch.2585

18 And to Enoch2585 was born3205 Irad:5897 and Irad5897 begat3205 Mehujael:4232 and Mehujael4232 begat3205 Methusael:4967 and Methusael4967 begat3205 Lamech.3929

19 And Lamech3929 took3947 to him two8147 wives:802 the name8034 of the one259 was Adah,5711 and the name8034 of the other8145 Zillah.6741

20 And Adah5711 bore3205 Jabal:2989 he was the father1 of such as dwell3427 in tents,168 and of such as have cattle.4735

21 And his brother's251 name8034 was Jubal:3106 he was the father1 of all3605 such as handle8610 the harp3658 and organ.5748

22 And Zillah,6741 she also1571 bore3205 Tubalcain,8423 an instructor3913 of every3605 artificer2794 in brass5178 and iron:1270 and the sister269 of Tubalcain8423 was Naamah.5279

23 And Lamech3929 said559 to his wives,802 Adah5711 and Zillah,6741 Hear8085 my voice;6963 you wives802 of Lamech,3929 listen238 to my speech:565 for I have slain2026 a man376 to my wounding,6482 and a young3206 man to my hurt.2250

24 If3588 Cain7014 shall be avenged5358 sevenfold,7659 truly Lamech3929 seventy7657 and sevenfold.7659

25 And Adam120 knew3045 his wife802 again;5750 and she bore3205 a son,1121 and called7121 his name8034 Seth:8352 For God,430 said she, has appointed7896 me another312 seed2233 instead8478 of Abel,1893 whom3588 Cain7014 slew.2026

26 And to Seth,8352 to him also1571 there was born3205 a son;1121 and he called7121 his name8034 Enos:583 then227 began2490 men to call7121 on the name8034 of the LORD.3068

7 Если ты будешь поступать правильно, неужели ты не будешь принят? Но если ты поступаешь неправильно, то у твоих дверей притаился грех: он желает овладеть тобой, но ты должен властвовать над ним.

7 If518 you do well,3190 shall you not be accepted?7613 and if518 you do not well,3190 sin2403 lies7257 at the door.6607 And to you shall be his desire,8669 and you shall rule4910 over him.

8 Каин сказал своему брату Авелю: — Пойдем в поле. Когда они были в поле, Каин накинулся на своего брата Авеля и убил его.

8 And Cain7014 talked559 with Abel1893 his brother:251 and it came1961 to pass, when they were in the field,7704 that Cain7014 rose6965 up against413 Abel1893 his brother,251 and slew2026 him.

9 Тогда Господь сказал Каину: — Где твой брат Авель? — Не знаю, — ответил тот. — Разве я сторож моему брату?

10 Господь сказал: — Что ты наделал? Кровь твоего брата взывает ко Мне из земли.

10 And he said,559 What4100 have you done?6213 the voice6963 of your brother's251 blood1818 cries6817 to me from the ground.127

11 Теперь ты проклят, изгнан с земли, которая разверзлась, чтобы принять кровь твоего брата, пролитую твоей рукой.

11 And now6258 are you cursed779 from the earth,127 which834 has opened6475 her mouth6310 to receive3947 your brother's251 blood1818 from your hand;3027

13 Каин сказал Господу: — Мое наказание тяжелее, чем я могу вынести.

13 And Cain7014 said559 to the LORD,3068 My punishment5771 is greater1419 than I can bear.5375

14 Ныне Ты гонишь меня с лица земли, и я буду скрыт от Твоего присутствия: я буду на земле бесприютным скитальцем, и первый же встречный убьет меня.

14 Behold,2005 you have driven1644 me out this day3117 from the face6440 of the earth;127 and from your face6440 shall I be hid;5641 and I shall be a fugitive5128 and a vagabond5110 in the earth;776 and it shall come1961 to pass, that every3605 one that finds4672 me shall slay2026 me.

15 Но Господь сказал ему: — Нет. Если кто убьет Каина, тот примет за это семикратное возмездие. И Господь сделал Каину метку, чтобы никто, встретившись с ним, не убил его.

15 And the LORD3068 said559 to him, Therefore3651 whoever3605 slays2026 Cain,7014 vengeance5358 shall be taken on him sevenfold.7659 And the LORD3068 set7760 a mark226 on Cain,7014 lest1115 any3605 finding4672 him should kill5221 him.

16 Каин ушел от Господа и жил в земле Нод, к востоку от Эдема.

16 And Cain7014 went3318 out from the presence6440 of the LORD,3068 and dwelled3427 in the land776 of Nod,5113 on the east6926 of Eden.5731

17 Каин познал свою жену, и она забеременела и родила Еноха. В то время Каин строил город и назвал его по имени своего сына Еноха.

24 Если за Каина отомстится в семь раз, то за Ламеха в семьдесят семь раз.
