1 Так было завершено сотворение неба и земли и всего, что есть и обитает там.

2 К седьмому дню Бог закончил труд, который Он совершал, и на седьмой день Он отдыхал от всех Своих дел.

3 Бог благословил седьмой день и сделал его святым, потому что в этот день Он отдыхал от Своего труда, который Он делал и завершил.

4 Вот повествование о небе и земле, когда они были сотворены. Когда Господь Бог создавал землю и небо,

5 на земле тогда еще не было ни кустарника полевого, ни полевой травы, потому что Господь Бог не посылал на землю дождя, и не было человека, чтобы обрабатывать почву,

6 только поток поднимался из земли и орошал всю ее поверхность, —

7 тогда Господь Бог создал человека из земного праха и вдунул ему в ноздри дыхание жизни, и человек стал живым существом.

8 Затем Господь Бог посадил сад на востоке, в Эдеме, и поселил там человека, которого Он создал.

9 Господь Бог вырастил из земли все виды деревьев — приятных на вид и пригодных для пищи. Посреди же сада росли дерево жизни и дерево познания добра и зла.

10 Из Эдема вытекала река, орошавшая сад, а далее она разделялась на четыре потока.

11 Первый называется Пишон: он течет вокруг всей земли Хавила, где есть золото.

12 Золото в той земле хорошее, и еще там есть пахучая смола и оникс.

13 Вторая река называется Гихон, она течет вокруг всей земли Куш.

14 Третья река называется Тигр, она течет к востоку от Ашшура. А четвертая река — это Евфрат.

15 Господь Бог поселил человека в Эдемском саду, чтобы он возделывал сад и заботился о нем.

16 Господь Бог заповедал человеку: «Можешь есть плоды с любого дерева в саду,

17 но не ешь с дерева познания добра и зла, потому что в день, когда ты съешь плод с него, ты непременно умрешь».

18 Господь Бог сказал: «Нехорошо человеку быть одному. Я создам ему помощника под стать».

19 Господь Бог создал из земли всех зверей полевых и всех птиц небесных. Затем Он привел их к человеку, чтобы увидеть, как тот их назовет; и как назвал человек каждое живое творение, так и стало ему имя.

20 Так человек дал имена всему скоту, всем птицам небесным и всем полевым зверям. Но для Адама не нашлось подходящего помощника.

21 Тогда Господь Бог погрузил человека в глубокий сон, и пока тот спал, взял одно из его ребер и закрыл это место плотью.

22 Из ребра, которое Он вынул из человека, Господь Бог создал женщину и привел ее к нему.

23 Человек сказал: «Вот теперь это кость от костей моих и плоть от плоти моей: она будет называться „женщина“, потому что была взята от мужчины».

24 Поэтому оставит человек отца и мать и соединится со своей женой, и двое станут одной плотью.

25 И Адам, и его жена были наги, но не испытывали стыда.

Chapter 2

1 THUS the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2 And on the sixth day God, finished his works which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his works which he had made.

3 So God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because in it he had rested from all his works which God created and made.

4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the heavens and the earth.

5 And all the trees of the field were not yet in the ground, and every herb of the field had not yet sprung up; for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the ground.

6 But a powerful spring gushed out of the earth, and watered all the face of the ground.

7 And the LORD God formed Adam out of the soil of the earth, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

9 And out of the ground the LORD God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

10 And a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it divided and became into four heads.

11 The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which encircles the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

12 And the gold of that land is good; there is also beryllium and the onyx stone.

13 And the name of the second river is Gihon, the one which encircles the whole land of Ethiopia.

14 And the name of the third river is Deklat (Tigris); it is the one which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and to keep it.

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat; for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

18 Then the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper who is like him.

19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to all fowl of the air, and to all wild beasts; but for Adam there was not found a helper who was equal to him.

21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the place with flesh in its stead;

22 And of the rib which the LORD God had taken from Adam he made a woman, and brought her to Adam.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.

25 And they were both naked, Adam and his wife, and were not ashamed.

3 So God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because in it he had rested from all his works which God created and made.

4 Вот повествование о небе и земле, когда они были сотворены. Когда Господь Бог создавал землю и небо,

9 And out of the ground the LORD God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

10 Из Эдема вытекала река, орошавшая сад, а далее она разделялась на четыре потока.

10 And a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it divided and became into four heads.

11 Первый называется Пишон: он течет вокруг всей земли Хавила, где есть золото.

11 The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which encircles the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

12 Золото в той земле хорошее, и еще там есть пахучая смола и оникс.

12 And the gold of that land is good; there is also beryllium and the onyx stone.

13 Вторая река называется Гихон, она течет вокруг всей земли Куш.

14 Третья река называется Тигр, она течет к востоку от Ашшура. А четвертая река — это Евфрат.

14 And the name of the third river is Deklat (Tigris); it is the one which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

15 Господь Бог поселил человека в Эдемском саду, чтобы он возделывал сад и заботился о нем.

15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and to keep it.

16 Господь Бог заповедал человеку: «Можешь есть плоды с любого дерева в саду,

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;

17 но не ешь с дерева познания добра и зла, потому что в день, когда ты съешь плод с него, ты непременно умрешь».

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat; for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.

18 Господь Бог сказал: «Нехорошо человеку быть одному. Я создам ему помощника под стать».

18 Then the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper who is like him.

20 Так человек дал имена всему скоту, всем птицам небесным и всем полевым зверям. Но для Адама не нашлось подходящего помощника.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to all fowl of the air, and to all wild beasts; but for Adam there was not found a helper who was equal to him.

21 Тогда Господь Бог погрузил человека в глубокий сон, и пока тот спал, взял одно из его ребер и закрыл это место плотью.

21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the place with flesh in its stead;

22 Из ребра, которое Он вынул из человека, Господь Бог создал женщину и привел ее к нему.

22 And of the rib which the LORD God had taken from Adam he made a woman, and brought her to Adam.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
