Глава 5

1 Итак, Господь иссушил реку Иордан, пока народ Израиля не закончил переход. Когда аморрейские цари, которые жили на западной стороне Иордана, и ханаанские цари, жившие у Средиземного моря, услышали об этом, их охватил страх, и у них не осталось храбрости сражаться против народа Израиля.

2 В это время Господь сказал Иисусу: «Сделай ножи из кремня и сделай обрезание мужчинам Израиля».

3 Иисус выточил ножи из кремня и сделал обрезание народу Израиля у места, названного Гивеаф-Аралот.

4 Вот почему Иисус сделал мужчинам обрезание. После того как народ Израиля вышел из Египта, все мужчины, которые были способны воевать, были обрезаны. Когда они были в пустыне, многие из них не слушали Господа, и Господь поклялся, что эти люди не увидят «плодородную землю». Господь обещал нашим предкам дать нам эту землю, но из-за этих людей Бог заставил народ скитаться в пустыне сорок лет, чтобы все, способные воевать, умерли, и сыновья заняли их место. Но никому из юношей, родившихся в пустыне на пути из Египта, не было сделано обрезание. Поэтому Иисус и сделал им обрезание.

8 Когда весь народ был обрезан, он Навин оставался в лагере на своём месте, пока все мужчины не поправились.

9 В это время Господь сказал Иисусу: «Вы были в Египте рабами, но сегодня Я очистил вас от этого позора». Поэтому Иисус и назвал это место Галгалом. Оно и сейчас так называется.

10 Народ Израиля отпраздновал Пасху в лагере Галгал на равнинах Иерихона. Это произошло вечером на четырнадцатый день того месяца.

11 На следующий день после Пасхи люди ели то, что росло на той земле. Они ели пресный хлеб и жареное зерно.

12 На следующее утро манна перестала падать с небес. Это случилось на следующий день после того, как народ начал есть плоды Ханаанской земли. С тех пор народ Израиля не получал манны небесной.

13 Находясь около Иерихона, Иисус увидел человека, стоящего перед ним. Человек держал в руке меч. Иисус подошёл к нему и спросил: «Ты друг нашему народу или один из врагов?»

14 Он ответил: «Я не враг, я вождь армии Господа и сейчас пришёл к тебе». Иисус поклонился ему до земли в знак уважения и сказал: «Я твой слуга. Что велит мне мой господин?»

15 Предводитель армии Господней ответил: «Сними обувь со своих ног. Место, на котором ты стоишь, — свято». Иисус так и сделал.

16 Ворота Иерихона были заперты, так как жители города боялись нападения израильтян, которые находились уже близко; никто не входил в город, и никто не выходил из него.

Chapter 5

1 AND when all the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, who were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel, until they had passed over, their hearts trembled, and there was no strength left in them, because of the children of Israel.

2 At that time the LORD said to Joshua, Make for yourself a flint knife, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time.

3 So Joshua made a flint knife for himself, and circumcised the children of Israel the second time at the Hill of the Uncircumcised.

4 And these are the men whom Joshua did circumcise: every male child who had been born after they had come out of Egypt, because all the men of war had died in the wilderness on the journey, after they came out of Egypt.

5 Because all the people who came out had been circumcised; but all the people that were born in the wilderness during the journey after they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.

6 For the children of Israel journeyed forty years in the wilderness, until all the people who were men of war and came out of Egypt had perished, because they did not obey the voice of their LORD; to whom the LORD had sworn that he would not show them the land which he had sworn to their fathers that he would give them, a land that flows with milk and honey.

7 And it was their children who came after them that Joshua circumcised; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised on the journey.

8 And when all the people were circumcised, they remained in their places in the camp till they were healed.

9 And the LORD said to Joshua, This day I have taken away the reproach of the Egyptians from you. Wherefore the name of that place is called Gilgal to this day.

10 And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plain of Jericho.

11 And they ate from the grain of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened bread and parched wheat did they eat on that very day.

12 And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the grain of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the produce of the land of Canaan that year.

13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was in the plain of Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand; and Joshua went to him, and said to him, Are you of us or of our enemies?

14 And he said to him, I am the commander of the host of the LORD, and now I have come here. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshipped, and said. What hath my LORD to say to his servant?

15 And the commander of the LORD'S host said to Joshua, Take your shoes from off your feet; for the place whereon you stand is holy. And Joshua did so.

3 So Joshua made a flint knife for himself, and circumcised the children of Israel the second time at the Hill of the Uncircumcised.

4 Вот почему Иисус сделал мужчинам обрезание. После того как народ Израиля вышел из Египта, все мужчины, которые были способны воевать, были обрезаны. 4 And these are the men whom Joshua did circumcise: every male child who had been born after they had come out of Egypt, because all the men of war had died in the wilderness on the journey, after they came out of Egypt.

5 Because all the people who came out had been circumcised; but all the people that were born in the wilderness during the journey after they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.

14 And he said to him, I am the commander of the host of the LORD, and now I have come here. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshipped, and said. What hath my LORD to say to his servant?

15 Предводитель армии Господней ответил: «Сними обувь со своих ног. Место, на котором ты стоишь, — свято». Иисус так и сделал.

15 And the commander of the LORD'S host said to Joshua, Take your shoes from off your feet; for the place whereon you stand is holy. And Joshua did so.
