1 And the men376 of Ephraim669 said559 to him, Why4100 have you served6213 us thus,1697 2007 that you called7121 us not, when3588 you went1980 to fight3898 with the Midianites?4080 And they did chide7378 with him sharply.2394

2 Er aber sprach559 zu ihnen: Was habe ich jetzt getan6213, das eurer Tat gleich sei? Ist nicht eine Rebe Ephraims669 besser2896 denn die ganze Weinernte1210 Abiesers44?

2 And he said559 to them, What4100 have I done6213 now6258 in comparison of you? Is not the gleaning5955 of the grapes of Ephraim669 better2896 than the vintage1210 of Abiezer?44

3 GOtt430 hat die Fürsten8269 der Midianiter4080, Oreb6159 und Seeb2062, in eure Hände3027 gegeben5414. Wie hätte ich können3201 das1697 tun, das ihr getan6213 habt? Da er solches redete1696, ließ ihr Zorn7307 von ihm ab7503.

3 God430 has delivered5414 into your hands3027 the princes8269 of Midian,4080 Oreb6157 and Zeeb:2062 and what4100 was I able3201 to do6213 in comparison of you? Then227 their anger7307 was abated7503 toward him, when he had said1696 that.

4 Da nun Gideon1439 an den Jordan3383 kam, ging935 er hinüber mit den dreihundert7969 Mann376, die bei ihm waren5674; und3967 waren müde5889 und jagten nach7291.

4 And Gideon1439 came935 to Jordan,3383 and passed5674 over,5674 he, and the three7969 hundred3967 men376 that were with him, faint,5889 yet pursuing7291 them.

5 Und er sprach559 zu den Leuten zu Suchoth: Lieber, gebet dem Volk5971, das unter mir310 ist7272, etliche582 Brote3899; denn sie5414 sind müde5889, daß ich nachjage7291 den Königen4428 der Midianiter4080, Sebah2078 und Zalmuna6759.

5 And he said559 to the men582 of Succoth,5523 Give,5414 I pray4994 you, loaves3603 of bread3899 to the people5971 that follow7272 me; for they be faint,5889 and I am pursuing7291 after310 Zebah2078 and Zalmunna,6759 kings4428 of Midian.4080

6 Aber die3027 Obersten8269 zu Suchoth sprachen559: Sind die Fäuste Sebahs2078 und Zalmunas6759 schon in deinen Händen3709, daß wir deinem Heer6635 sollen Brot3899 geben5414?

6 And the princes8269 of Succoth5523 said,559 Are the hands3709 of Zebah2078 and Zalmunna6759 now6258 in your hand,3027 that we should give5414 bread3899 to your army?6635

7 Gideon1439 sprach559: Wohlan, wenn der HErr3068 Sebah2078 und Zalmuna6759 in meine Hand3027 gibt5414, will ich euer Fleisch1320 mit Dornen aus der Wüste4057 und mit Hecken6975 zerdreschen1758.

7 And Gideon1439 said,559 Therefore when the LORD3068 has delivered5414 Zebah2078 and Zalmunna6759 into my hand,3027 then I will tear1758 your flesh1320 with the thorns6975 of the wilderness4057 and with briers.1303

8 Und er zog5927 von dannen hinauf gen Pnuel6439 und redete1696 auch also zu ihnen2063. Und die582 Leute582 zu Pnuel6439 antworteten6030 ihm gleichwie die zu Suchoth.

8 And he went5927 up there8033 to Penuel,6439 and spoke1696 to them likewise:2063 and the men582 of Penuel6439 answered6030 him as the men582 of Succoth5523 had answered6030 him.

9 Und er sprach559 auch zu den Leuten582 zu Pnuel6439: Komme ich559 mit Frieden7965 wieder7725, so will ich diesen Turm4026 zerbrechen5422.
|
9 And he spoke559 also1571 to the men582 of Penuel,6439 saying,559 When I come7725 again7725 in peace,7965 I will break5422 down5422 this tower.4026

10 Sebah2078 aber und1121 Zalmuna6759 waren zu Karkor7174, und3967 ihr Heer4264 mit ihnen, bei fünfzehntausend, die alle376 überblieben waren vom ganzen Heer4264 derer aus Morgenland6924. Denn hundertundzwanzigtausend waren gefallen5307, die das Schwert8025 ausziehen konnten.

10 Now Zebah2078 and Zalmunna6759 were in Karkor,7174 and their hosts4264 with them, about fifteen2568 6240 thousand505 men, all3605 that were left3498 of all3605 the hosts4264 of the children1121 of the east:6924 for there fell5307 an hundred3967 and twenty6242 thousand505 men376 that drew8025 sword.2719

11 Und Gideon1439 zog hinauf auf5927 der Straße1870, da man in Hütten168 wohnet, gegen Morgen6924, gen Nobah5025 und Jagbeha, und schlug5221 das Heer4264, denn das Heer4264 war sicher983.

11 And Gideon1439 went5927 up by the way1870 of them that dwelled7931 in tents168 on the east6924 of Nobah5025 and Jogbehah,3011 and smote5221 the host;4264 for the host4264 was secure.983

12 Und310 Sebah2078 und Zalmuna6759 flohen5127; aber er jagte ihnen8147 nach7291 und fing3920 die zween Könige4428 der Midianiter4080, Sebah2078 und Zalmuna6759, und zerschreckte das ganze Heer4264.

12 And when Zebah2078 and Zalmunna6759 fled,5127 he pursued7291 after310 them, and took3920 the two8147 kings4428 of Midian,4080 Zebah2078 and Zalmunna,6759 and discomfited2729 all3605 the host.4264

13 Da nun Gideon1439, der Sohn1121 Joas3101‘, wiederkam7725 vom Streit4421, ehe die Sonne2775 heraufkommen war4608,

13 And Gideon1439 the son1121 of Joash3101 returned7725 from battle4421 before4608 the sun2775 was up,

14 fing3920 er einen Knaben5288 aus den Leuten582 zu Suchoth und7651 fragte7592 ihn; der schrieb3789 ihm auf die Obersten8269 zu Suchoth und ihrer Ältesten2205, siebenundsiebenzig Mann376.

14 And caught3920 a young5288 man of the men582 of Succoth,5523 and inquired7592 of him: and he described3789 to him the princes8269 of Succoth,5523 and the elders2205 thereof, even three score7657 and seventeen7657 7651 men.376

15 Und559 er3027 kam935 zu den Leuten582 zu Suchoth und sprach559: Siehe, hie ist Sebah2078 und Zalmuna6759, über welchen ihr mich spottetet2778 und sprachet: Ist denn Sebahs2078 und Zalmunas6759 Faust schon in deinen Händen3709, daß wir deinen Leuten582, die müde3287 sind, Brot3899 geben5414 sollen?

15 And he came935 to the men582 of Succoth,5523 and said,559 Behold2009 Zebah2078 and Zalmunna,6759 with whom834 you did upbraid2778 me, saying,559 Are the hands3709 of Zebah2078 and Zalmunna6759 now6258 in your hand,3027 that we should give5414 bread3899 to your men582 that are weary?3286

16 Und er nahm3947 die Ältesten2205 der Stadt5892 und Dornen aus der Wüste4057 und Hecken6975 und ließ es die Leute582 zu Suchoth fühlen3045.

16 And he took3947 the elders2205 of the city,5892 and thorns6975 of the wilderness4057 and briers,1303 and with them he taught3045 the men582 of Succoth.5523

17 Und den Turm4026 Pnuel6439 zerbrach5422 er und erwürgete die Leute582 der Stadt5892.

17 And he beat5422 down5422 the tower4026 of Penuel,6439 and slew2026 the men582 of the city.5892
|
|
18 Und er sprach559 zu Sebah2078 und Zalmuna6759: Wie375 waren die Männer582, die ihr erwürgetet zu Thabor8396? Sie2026 sprachen559: Sie waren wie3644 du, und ein259 jeglicher schön8389 wie eines Königs4428 Kinder1121.

18 Then said559 he to Zebah2078 and Zalmunna,6759 What375 manner of men582 were they whom834 you slew2026 at Tabor?8396 And they answered,559 As you are, so1992 were they; each one259 resembled8389 the children1121 of a king.4428

19 Er aber sprach559: Es sind meine Brüder251, meiner Mutter517 Söhne1121, gewesen. So wahr der HErr3068 lebet, wo3863 ihr sie hättet leben2416 lassen2421, wollte ich euch nicht erwürgen2026.

19 And he said,559 They were my brothers,251 even the sons1121 of my mother:517 as the LORD3068 lives,2416 if3863 you had saved2421 them alive,2421 I would not slay2026 you.
|
|
20 Und sprach559 zu seinem erstgebornen Sohn1060 Jether3500: Stehe auf6965 und erwürge2026 sie2719! Aber der Knabe5288 zog sein Schwert8025 nicht aus; denn er fürchtete3372 sich, weil er noch ein Knabe5288 war.

20 And he said559 to Jether3500 his firstborn,1060 Up, and slay2026 them. But the youth5288 drew8025 not his sword:2719 for he feared,3372 because3588 he was yet5750 a youth.5288
|

21 Sebah2078 aber und Zalmuna6759 sprachen559: Stehe du auf6965 und mache dich an6293 uns; denn danach der Mann376 ist, ist auch seine Kraft1369. Also stund Gideon1439 auf6965 und erwürgete Sebah2078 und Zalmuna6759; und nahm3947 die Spangen7720, die an ihrer Kamele1581 Hälsen6677 waren.

21 Then Zebah2078 and Zalmunna6759 said,559 Rise6965 you, and fall6293 on us: for as the man376 is, so is his strength.1369 And Gideon1439 arose,6965 and slew2026 Zebah2078 and Zalmunna,6759 and took3947 away the ornaments7720 that were on their camels'1581 necks.6677

22 Da sprachen559 zu Gideon1439 etliche in Israel3478: Sei Herr4910 über uns, du und376 dein Sohn1121 und deines Sohns Sohn, weil du uns von der Midianiter4080 Hand3027 erlöset hast3467.

22 Then the men376 of Israel3478 said559 to Gideon,1439 Rule4910 you over us, both1571 you, and your son,1121 and your son's1121 son1121 also:1571 for you have delivered3467 us from the hand3027 of Midian.4080

23 Aber Gideon1439 sprach559 zu ihnen: Ich will nicht Herr3068 sein4910 über euch, und mein Sohn1121 soll auch nicht Herr über euch sein4910, sondern der HErr soll Herr über euch sein4910.
|
23 And Gideon1439 said559 to them, I will not rule4910 over you, neither3808 shall my son1121 rule4910 over you: the LORD3068 shall rule4910 over you.

|
24 Gideon1439 aber sprach559 zu ihnen: Eins7596 begehre7592 ich von euch: ein376 jeglicher gebe5414 mir die Stirnbänder5141, die er geraubet hat7998; denn weil es Ismaeliter3459 waren, hatten sie güldene Stirnbänder5141.
|
24 And Gideon1439 said559 to them, I would desire7592 a request7596 of you, that you would give5414 me every man376 the earrings5141 of his prey.7998 (For they had golden2091 earrings,5141 because3588 they were Ishmaelites.3459)
|
|
25 Sie5414 sprachen559: Die wollen wir geben5414. Und breiteten6566 ein376 Kleid8071 aus, und ein jeglicher warf7993 die Stirnbänder5141 drauf, die er geraubet hatte7998.
|
25 And they answered,559 We will willingly5414 give5414 them. And they spread6566 a garment,8071 and did cast7993 therein8033 every man376 the earrings5141 of his prey.7998
|
|
26 Und3967 die güldenen Stirnbänder5141, die er forderte7592, machten am Gewicht4948 tausend505 siebenhundert7651 Sekel Goldes2091, ohne die Spangen7720 und Ketten5188 und scharlakenen Kleider899, die der Midianiter4080 Könige4428 tragen, und ohne die Halsbänder6060 ihrer Kamele1581.

26 And the weight4948 of the golden2091 earrings5141 that he requested7592 was a thousand505 and seven7651 hundred3967 shekels of gold;2091 beside905 ornaments,7720 and collars,5188 and purple713 raiment899 that was on5921 the kings4428 of Midian,4080 and beside905 the chains6060 that were about their camels'1581 necks.6677

27 Und310 Gideon1439 machte6213 einen Leibrock646 draus und setzte3322 es in seine Stadt5892 zu Ophra6084. Und ganz Israel3478 verhurete sich daran daselbst, und geriet Gideon1439 und seinem Hause1004 zum Ärgernis.

27 And Gideon1439 made6213 an ephod646 thereof, and put3322 it in his city,5892 even in Ophrah:6084 and all3605 Israel3478 went thither8033 a whoring2181 after310 it: which thing became1961 a snare4170 to Gideon,1439 and to his house.1004

28 Also wurden die Midianiter4080 gedemütiget vor6440 den Kindern1121 Israel3478 und huben ihren Kopf7218 nicht5375 mehr3254 empor. Und das Land776 war8252 stille vierzig705 Jahre8141, solange Gideon1439 lebte3117.
|
28 Thus was Midian4080 subdued3665 before6440 the children1121 of Israel,3478 so that they lifted5375 up their heads7218 no3808 more.3254 And the country776 was in quietness8252 forty705 years8141 in the days3117 of Gideon.1439
|
|
29 Und Jerubbaal3378, der Sohn1121 Joas3101‘, ging hin3212 und wohnete in seinem Hause1004.
|
29 And Jerubbaal3378 the son1121 of Joash3101 went3212 and dwelled3427 in his own house.1004
|
|
30 Und Gideon1439 hatte siebenzig Söhne1121, die aus seiner Hüfte3409 kommen3318 waren; denn er hatte viele7227 Weiber802.
|
30 And Gideon1439 had three score7657 and ten sons1121 of his body3409 begotten:3318 for he had1961 many7227 wives.802

|
31 Und sein Kebsweib6370, das er zu Sichem7927 hatte7760, gebar3205 ihm auch einen Sohn1121; den8034 nannte er Abimelech40.
|
31 And his concubine6370 that was in Shechem,7927 she also1571 bore3205 him a son,1121 whose853 name8034 he called7760 Abimelech.40
|
|
32 Und Gideon1439, der Sohn1121 Joas3101‘, starb4191 in gutem2896 Alter7872 und ward begraben6912 in seines Vaters1 Joas3101‘ Grab6913 zu Ophra6084, des Vaters der Esriter.
|
32 And Gideon1439 the son1121 of Joash3101 died4191 in a good2896 old7872 age,7872 and was buried6912 in the sepulcher6913 of Joash3101 his father,1 in Ophrah6084 of the Abiezrites.33
|
|
33 Da aber Gideon1439 gestorben4191 war, kehrten sich die Kinder1121 Israel3478 um7725 und7760 hureten den Baalim1168 nach310 und machten ihnen Baal-Berith1170 zum GOtt430.
|
33 And it came1961 to pass, as soon834 as Gideon1439 was dead,4191 that the children1121 of Israel3478 turned7725 again,7725 and went a whoring2181 after310 Baalim,1168 and made7760 Baalberith1170 their god.430
|
|
34 Und die Kinder1121 Israel3478 gedachten nicht5337 an2142 den HErrn3068, ihren GOtt430, der sie errettet hatte von der Hand3027 aller ihrer Feinde341 umher5439.
|
34 And the children1121 of Israel3478 remembered2142 not the LORD3068 their God,430 who had delivered5337 them out of the hands3027 of all3605 their enemies341 on every5437 side:5439
|
|
35 Und taten nicht Barmherzigkeit2617 an dem Hause1004 Jerubbaal3378 -Gideon1439, wie er alles Gute2896 an Israel3478 getan6213 hatte6213.
|
35 Neither3808 showed6213 they kindness2617 to the house1004 of Jerubbaal,3378 namely, Gideon,1439 according to all3605 the goodness2896 which he had showed6213 to Israel.3478
