2 traf sich‘s, da geschrieben3789 war4672, wie Mardachai hatte angesagt5046, daß die zween Kämmerer5631 des7971 Königs4428, Bigthan904 und Theres8657, die an der Schwelle5592 hüteten8104, getrachtet1245 hätten, die Hand3027 an den König4428 Ahasveros325 zu legen.

3 Und6213 der König4428 sprach559: Was haben8334 wir Mardachai Ehre3366 und Gutes1420 dafür getan6213? Da sprachen559 die Knaben5288 des Königs4428, die ihm dieneten: Es ist ihm nichts1697 geschehen.

4 Und der König4428 sprach559: Wer ist im Hofe2691? (Denn Haman war935 in den Hof2691 gegangen, draußen2435 vor des Königs4428 Hause1004, daß er2001 dem Könige4428 sagte559, Mardachai zu3559 hängen8518 an den Baum6086, den er ihm zubereitet hatte.)

5 Und935 des Königs4428 Knaben5288 sprachen559 zu ihm: Siehe, Haman2001 stehet5975 im Hofe2691. Der König4428 sprach559: Laßt ihn hereingehen!

6 Und da Haman2001 hineinkam, sprach559 der König4428 zu6213 ihm: Was soll man559 dem Manne376 tun935, den der König4428 gerne2654 wollte ehren3366? Haman2001 aber gedachte in seinem Herzen3820: Wem sollte der König4428 anders gerne2654 wollen Ehre3366 tun6213 denn3148 mir?

7 Und Haman2001 sprach559 zum Könige4428: Den Mann376, den der König4428 gerne2654 wollte ehren3366,

8 soll man herbringen, daß man ihm königliche4438 Kleider3830 anziehe, die der König4428 pflegt zu tragen3847, und5414 das Roß5483, da4438 der König4428 auf reitet7392, und daß man die königliche Krone3804 auf sein935 Haupt7218 setze.

9 Und376 man7121 soll solch Kleid3830 und Roß5483 geben5414 in die Hand3027 eines Fürsten8269 des Königs4428, daß derselbe6579 den Mann376 anziehe3847, den der König4428 gerne2654 ehren3366 wollte, und führe ihn7392 auf6440 dem Roß5483 in der Stadt5892 Gassen7339 und lasse rufen vor ihm her: So wird man tun6213 dem Manne376, den der König4428 gerne2654 ehren3366 wollte.

10 Der König4428 sprach1696 zu Haman2001: Eile4116 und nimm3947 das1697 Kleid3830 und Roß5483, wie du gesagt559 hast5307, und tue6213 also mit Mardachai, dem Juden3064, der vor dem Tor8179 des Königs4428 sitzet; und laß3427 nichts fehlen an allem, das du geredet hast1696.

11 Da nahm3947 Haman2001 das Kleid3830 und Roß5483, und zog3847 Mardachai an und führete ihn7392 auf6440 der Stadt5892 Gassen7339 und rief7121 vor ihm her: So wird man tun6213 dem Manne376, den der König4428 gerne2654 ehren3366 wollte.

12 Und Mardachai kam wieder7725 an das Tor8179 des Königs4428. Haman2001 aber eilete nach Hause1004, trug Leid57 mit verhülletem Kopfe

13 und2001 erzählete seinem Weibe802 Seres2238 und seinen Freunden allen alles, was ihm begegnet war5608. Da sprachen559 zu ihm seine Weisen2450 und sein Weib802 Seres2238: Ist7136 Mardachai vom Samen2233 der Juden3064, vor6440 dem du zu fallen5307 angehoben hast157, so vermagst3201 du nichts an2490 ihm, sondern du wirst vor6440 ihm fallen5307.

14 Da sie aber noch mit ihm redeten, kamen935 herbei5060 des Königs4428 Kämmerer5631 und trieben926 Haman2001, zum Mahl4960 zu6213 kommen, das Esther635 zugerichtet hatte1696.

Chapter 6

1 ON that night the king could not sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read be fore the king.

2 And it was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthan and Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs, the keepers of the door, who had sought to lay hands on King Akhshirash.

3 And the king said, What honor and dignity have been conferred upon Mordecai for this? Then the king's servants and his ministers said to him, There is nothing done for him.

4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outer court of the king's house to speak to the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

5 So the king's servants said to him, Behold, Haman is standing in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.

6 So Haman came in. And the king said to him, What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor? Now Haman thought in his heart, Whom would the king delight to honor more than myself?

7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delights to honor,

8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king wears and the horse that the king rides, and let the royal crown be set upon his head:

9 And let the apparel and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, and let him array the man whom the king delights to honor and mount him on the horse and take him round through the streets of the city and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king de lights to honor.

10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste and take the apparel and the horse, as you have said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king's gate; let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.

11 Then Haman took the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the streets of the city and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.

12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman went to his house mourning and having his head covered.

13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife everything that had befallen him. Then his friends and Zeresh his wife said to him, If Mordecai is of the Jewish race, before whom you have begun to fall, you shall not prevail against him, but will surely again be humbled before him.

14 And while he was still talking with them, the king's couriers arrived and hastened to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had pre pared.

12 And Mordecai came again to the king's gate. But Haman went to his house mourning and having his head covered.
