Jeremiah

Chapter 30

1 The word1697 that came1961 to Jeremiah3414 from the LORD,3068 saying,559

2 Thus3541 speaks559 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 saying,559 Write3789 you all3605 the words1697 that I have spoken1696 to you in a book.5612

3 For, see,2009 the days3117 come,935 said5002 the LORD,3068 that I will bring7725 again7725 the captivity7622 of my people5971 Israel3478 and Judah,3063 said559 the LORD:3068 and I will cause them to return7725 to the land776 that I gave5414 to their fathers,1 and they shall possess3423 it.

4 And these428 are the words1697 that the LORD3068 spoke1696 concerning413 Israel3478 and concerning413 Judah.3063

5 For thus3541 said559 the LORD;3068 We have heard8085 a voice6963 of trembling,2731 of fear,6343 and not of peace.7965

6 Ask7592 you now,4994 and see7200 whether518 a man2145 does travail3205 with child?3205 why4069 do I see7200 every3605 man1397 with his hands3027 on5921 his loins,2504 as a woman in travail,3205 and all3605 faces6440 are turned2015 into paleness?3420

7 Alas!1945 for that day3117 is great,1419 so that none369 is like3644 it: it is even the time6256 of Jacob's3290 trouble,6869 but he shall be saved3467 out of it.

8 For it shall come1961 to pass in that day,3117 said5002 the LORD3068 of hosts,6635 that I will break7665 his yoke5923 from off5921 your neck,6677 and will burst5423 your bonds,4147 and strangers2114 shall no3808 more5750 serve5647 themselves of him:

9 But they shall serve5647 the LORD3068 their God,430 and David1732 their king,4428 whom834 I will raise6965 up to them.

10 Therefore fear3372 you not, O my servant5650 Jacob,3290 said5002 the LORD;3068 neither408 be dismayed,2865 O Israel:3478 for, see,2009 I will save3467 you from afar,7350 and your seed2233 from the land776 of their captivity;7628 and Jacob3290 shall return,7725 and shall be in rest,8252 and be quiet,7599 and none369 shall make him afraid.2729

11 For I am with you, said5002 the LORD,3068 to save3467 you: though3588 I make6213 a full end3615 of all3605 nations1471 where834 8033 I have scattered6327 you, yet389 I will not make6213 a full end3615 of you: but I will correct3256 you in measure,4941 and will not leave you altogether unpunished.5352

12 For thus3541 said5002 the LORD,3068 Your bruise7667 is incurable,605 and your wound4347 is grievous.2470

13 There is none369 to plead1777 your cause,1779 that you may be bound4205 up: you have no369 healing8585 medicines.7499

14 All3605 your lovers157 have forgotten7911 you; they seek1875 you not; for I have wounded5221 you with the wound4347 of an enemy,341 with the chastisement4148 of a cruel394 one, for the multitude7230 of your iniquity;5771 because your sins2403 were increased.6105

15 Why4100 cry2199 you for your affliction?7667 your sorrow4341 is incurable605 for the multitude7230 of your iniquity:5771 because your sins2403 were increased,6105 I have done6213 these428 things to you.

16 Therefore3651 all3605 they that devour398 you shall be devoured;398 and all3605 your adversaries,6862 every3605 one of them, shall go3212 into captivity;7633 and they that spoil7701 you shall be a spoil,4933 and all3605 that prey962 on you will I give5414 for a prey.962

17 For I will restore5927 health724 to you, and I will heal7495 you of your wounds,4347 said the LORD;3068 because3588 they called7121 you an Outcast,5080 saying, This1931 is Zion,6726 whom no369 man seeks1875 after.

18 Thus3541 said559 the LORD;3068 Behold,2005 I will bring7725 again7725 the captivity7622 of Jacob's3290 tents,168 and have mercy7355 on his dwelling places;4908 and the city5892 shall be built1129 on her own heap,8510 and the palace759 shall remain3427 after5921 the manner4941 thereof.

19 And out of them shall proceed3318 thanksgiving8426 and the voice6963 of them that make merry:7832 and I will multiply7235 them, and they shall not be few;4591 I will also glorify3513 them, and they shall not be small.6819

20 Their children1121 also shall be as aforetime,6924 and their congregation5712 shall be established3559 before6440 me, and I will punish6485 all3605 that oppress3905 them.

21 And their nobles117 shall be of themselves, and their governor4910 shall proceed3318 from the middle7130 of them; and I will cause him to draw near,7126 and he shall approach5066 to me: for who4310 is this1931 2088 that engaged6148 his heart3820 to approach5066 to me? said5002 the LORD.3068

22 And you shall be my people,5971 and I will be your God.430

23 Behold,2009 the whirlwind5591 of the LORD3068 goes3318 forth3318 with fury,2534 a continuing1641 whirlwind:5591 it shall fall2342 with pain2342 on the head7218 of the wicked.7563

24 The fierce2740 anger639 of the LORD3068 shall not return,7725 until5704 he has done6213 it, and until5704 he have performed6965 the intents4209 of his heart:3820 in the latter319 days3117 you shall consider995 it.

Chapter 30

1 THE word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2 Thus says the LORD God of Israel: Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book.

3 For behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will bring back the captives of my people Israel and Judah, says the LORD; and I will bring them back to the land which I gave to their fathers and they shall possess it.

4 And these are the words that the LORD spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah.

5 Thus says the LORD: We have heard a sound of trembling and of fear; and there is no peace.

6 Ask now and see: Can a male bear a child? Wherefore do I observe every man with his hands on his loins, like a woman in travail, and all faces turned into paleness?

7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob; but he shall be saved out of it.

8 For it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD of hosts, that I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon from off your neck, and I will cut off your bonds, and strangers shall no more enslave them;

9 But they shall serve the LORD their God and David their king whom I will raise up for them.

10 Therefore fear not, O my servant Jacob, says the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel; for, lo, I will save you from afar and your offspring from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall hurt him.

11 Fear not, O my servant Jacob, says the LORD, for I am with you to save you, says the LORD; for I will make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered you, yet I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct you justly, and will not declare you innocent.

12 For thus says the LORD: Your wound is grievous, and your affliction is severe.

13 There is none to plead your cause or to succor you and heal you.

14 All your friends have forgotten you; they seek your life; for I have smitten you with the wound of an enemy, with a severe chastisement because of the multitude of your iniquities, and because your sins were increased and you would not repent.

15 Why do you lament over your wound? Your wound is painful because of the multitude of your iniquities; and because your sins were increased, I have done these things to you.

16 Therefore, all who devour you shall be devoured; and all your enemies, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and those who trample over you shall be trampled over, and all those who plunder you I will give for a prey.

17 For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the LORD; because they have called you an outcast, saying, This is Zion who had no avenger.

18 Thus says the LORD: Behold, I will bring again the captivity of Jacob's tents, and I will do to him as of old, and have mercy on his dwelling places; the city shall be built upon its own hill, and the temple shall be established after the former manner thereof.

19 And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who sing; and I will multiply them, and they shall not decrease; I will also make them mighty, and they shall not be weak.

20 Their children also shall be as of old, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all who oppress them.

21 And their king shall be one of themselves, and their governors shall come forth from among themselves; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach to me; for I will turn his heart towards me, says the LORD.

22 And you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

23 Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goes forth with fury, a tornado; it shall rest upon the head of the wicked.

24 The fierce anger of the LORD will not turn back until he has executed his orders and until he has performed the intents of his heart; in the latter days you shall understand this.
