Chapter 5

1 Go33 to now,3568 you rich4145 men, weep2799 and howl3649 for your5216 miseries5004 that shall come1904 on you.

2 Your5216 riches4149 are corrupted,4595 and your5216 garments2440 are moth-eaten.4598

3 Your5216 gold5557 and silver696 is corroded;2728 and the rust2447 of them shall be a witness3142 against you, and shall eat5315 your5216 flesh4561 as it were fire.4442 You have2192 heaped2343 treasure2343 together for the last2078 days.2250

4 Behold,2400 the hire3408 of the laborers2040 who3588 have2192 reaped270 down your5216 fields,5561 which3588 is of you kept650 back650 by fraud,650 cries:2896 and the cries995 of them which have2192 reaped2325 are entered1525 into1519 the ears3775 of the Lord2962 of sabaoth.4519

5 You have lived5171 in pleasure5171 on1909 the earth,1093 and been wanton;4684 you have nourished5142 your5216 hearts,2588 as in a day2250 of slaughter.4967

6 You have condemned2613 and killed5407 the just;1342 and he does not resist498 you.

7 Be patient3114 therefore,3767 brothers,80 to the coming3952 of the Lord.2962 Behold,2400 the farmer1092 waits1551 for the precious5093 fruit2590 of the earth,1093 and has long3114 patience3114 for it, until2193 he receive2983 the early4406 and latter3797 rain.5205

8 Be you also2532 patient;3114 establish4741 your5216 hearts:2588 for the coming3952 of the Lord2962 draws near.1448

9 Grudge4727 not one240 against2596 another,240 brothers,80 lest2443 3361 you be condemned:2632 behold,2400 the judge2923 stands2476 before4253 the door.2374

10 Take,2983 my brothers,80 the prophets,4396 who3739 have spoken2980 in the name3686 of the Lord,2962 for an example5262 of suffering2552 affliction,2552 and of patience.3115

11 Behold,2400 we count3106 them happy3106 which endure.5278 You have heard191 of the patience5281 of Job,2492 and have seen1492 the end5056 of the Lord;2962 that the Lord2962 is very4184 pitiful,4184 and of tender3629 mercy.3629

12 But above4253 all3956 things, my brothers,80 swear3660 not, neither3383 by heaven,3772 neither3383 by the earth,1093 neither3383 by any5100 other243 oath:3727 but let your5216 yes3483 be yes;3483 and your3588 no,3756 no;3756 lest2443 3361 you fall4098 into5259 condemnation.5272

13 Is any5100 among1722 you afflicted?2553 let him pray.4336 Is any5100 merry?2114 let him sing5567 psalms.5567

14 Is any5100 sick770 among1722 you? let him call4341 for the elders4245 of the church;1577 and let them pray4336 over1909 him, anointing218 him with oil1637 in the name3686 of the Lord:2962

15 And the prayer2171 of faith4102 shall save4982 the sick,2577 and the Lord2962 shall raise1453 him up; and if he have committed4160 sins,266 they shall be forgiven863 him.

16 Confess1843 your3588 faults3900 one240 to another,240 and pray2172 one240 for another,240 that you may be healed.2390 The effectual1754 fervent prayer1162 of a righteous1342 man avails2480 much.4183

17 Elias2243 was a man444 subject3663 to like3663 passions3663 as we are, and he prayed4336 earnestly4335 that it might not rain:1026 and it rained1026 not on1909 the earth1093 by the space of three5140 years1763 and six1803 months.3376

18 And he prayed4336 again,3825 and the heaven3772 gave1325 rain,5205 and the earth1093 brought985 forth985 her fruit.2590

19 Brothers,80 if1437 any1536 of you do err4105 from the truth,225 and one5100 convert1994 him;

20 Let him know,1097 that he which converts1994 the sinner268 from the error4106 of his way3598 shall save4982 a soul5590 from death,2288 and shall hide2572 a multitude4128 of sins.266

1 Теперь о вас, богатые. Плачьте, рыдайте, ибо ждет вас беда.

2 Считайте, что пропало ваше богатство и одежды ваши побиты молью,

3 изъедены ржавчиной даже золото ваше и серебро — ржавчина эта изобличит вас и спалит вашу плоть, как огонь. Собрали вы сокровища, но в мире собрали вы их, дни которого сочтены уже.

4 И плата, которую вы не отдали работникам, собравшим хлеб с полей ваших, взывает к отмщению, и крики жнецов дошли до слуха Господа Саваофа.

5 Вы роскошествовали на земле и всем желаниям своим потакали. Так утучнили вы себя на день заклания.

6 Вы и теперь продолжаете судить и убивать праведников, хотя они и не противятся вам.

7 Вы же, братья мои, не впадайте в уныние и будьте терпеливы в ожидании пришествия Господня. Посмотрите на земледельца, как он ожидает драгоценного плода земли, дождей ранних и поздних с каким терпением ждет он!

8 Будьте и вы столь же терпеливы и стойки — близко уже пришествие Господне.

9 Не вините никого в своих бедах, братья, чтобы самим не быть осужденными — уже у дверей Судья.

10 Пусть будет для вас примером то долготерпение, какое явили в страданиях своих пророки, говорившие во имя Господне.

11 Помните, что блаженными мы называем тех, которые терпели. Вы слышали о стойкости Иова и знаете, какое намерение о нем было у Господа, ведь исполнен Он сострадания и милости.

12 Но главное, не клянитесь, братья мои, — ни небом, ни землей и ничем иным не клянитесь; просто пусть «да» у вас будет «да», а «нет» точно будет «нет», тогда не навлечете на себя осуждения.

13 Страдает ли кто из вас — пусть молится, радостен ли кто — пусть поет псалмы.

14 Болен кто — пусть призовет пресвитеров церкви, чтобы те помолились над ним, совершив помазание елеем во имя Господа.

15 И молитва, с верой вознесенная, спасет больного — Господь восстановит его здоровье. И если согрешил он, прощено ему будет.

16 Так что признавайтесь друг перед другом в грехах своих и молитесь друг о друге, чтобы исцелиться. Велика сила горячей молитвы праведного.

17 Илия был такой же человек, как и мы, однако когда помолился он усердно о том, чтобы не было дождя, за три года и шесть месяцев в стране ни разу не пролился дождь,

18 когда же снова помолился, пошли дожди, и земля произрастила плод свой.

19 Братья мои, если уклонится кто из вас от истины и кто-то поможет ему вернуться,

20 пусть знает вернувший грешника с ложного пути его, что спас он его от смерти и что множество тому будет прощено грехов.

12 Но главное, не клянитесь, братья мои, — ни небом, ни землей и ничем иным не клянитесь; просто пусть «да» у вас будет «да», а «нет» точно будет «нет», тогда не навлечете на себя осуждения.

13 Is any5100 among1722 you afflicted?2553 let him pray.4336 Is any5100 merry?2114 let him sing5567 psalms.5567

13 Страдает ли кто из вас — пусть молится, радостен ли кто — пусть поет псалмы.

14 Болен кто — пусть призовет пресвитеров церкви, чтобы те помолились над ним, совершив помазание елеем во имя Господа.

15 И молитва, с верой вознесенная, спасет больного — Господь восстановит его здоровье. И если согрешил он, прощено ему будет.

18 когда же снова помолился, пошли дожди, и земля произрастила плод свой.

19 Братья мои, если уклонится кто из вас от истины и кто-то поможет ему вернуться,
