Chapter 17

1 There was also a lot1486 for the tribe4294 of Manasseh;4519 for he was the firstborn1060 of Joseph;3130 to wit, for Machir4353 the firstborn1060 of Manasseh,4519 the father1 of Gilead:1568 because3588 he was a man376 of war,4421 therefore he had1961 Gilead1568 and Bashan.1316

2 There was also a lot for the rest3498 of the children1121 of Manasseh4519 by their families;4940 for the children1121 of Abiezer,44 and for the children1121 of Helek,2507 and for the children1121 of Asriel,844 and for the children1121 of Shechem,7928 and for the children1121 of Hepher,2660 and for the children1121 of Shemida:8061 these428 were the male2145 children1121 of Manasseh4519 the son1121 of Joseph3130 by their families.4940

3 But Zelophehad,6765 the son1121 of Hepher,2660 the son1121 of Gilead,1568 the son1121 of Machir,4353 the son1121 of Manasseh,4519 had1961 no3808 sons,1121 but daughters:1323 and these428 are the names8034 of his daughters,1323 Mahlah,4244 and Noah,5270 Hoglah,2295 Milcah,4435 and Tirzah.8656

4 And they came7126 near7126 before6440 Eleazar499 the priest,3548 and before6440 Joshua3091 the son1121 of Nun,5126 and before6440 the princes,5387 saying,559 The LORD3068 commanded6680 Moses4872 to give5414 us an inheritance5159 among8432 our brothers.251 Therefore according413 to the commandment6310 of the LORD3068 he gave5414 them an inheritance5159 among8432 the brothers251 of their father.1

5 And there fell5307 ten6235 portions2256 to Manasseh,4519 beside905 the land776 of Gilead1568 and Bashan,1316 which834 were on the other5676 side5676 Jordan;3383

6 Because3588 the daughters1323 of Manasseh4519 had an inheritance5157 among8432 his sons:1121 and the rest3498 of Manasseh's4519 sons1121 had1961 the land776 of Gilead.1568

7 And the coast1366 of Manasseh4519 was from Asher836 to Michmethah,4366 that lies before5921 6440 Shechem;7927 and the border1366 went1980 along on413 the right3225 hand3225 to the inhabitants3427 of Entappuah.5887

8 Now Manasseh4519 had1961 the land776 of Tappuah:8599 but Tappuah8599 on413 the border1366 of Manasseh4519 belonged to the children1121 of Ephraim;669

9 And the coast1366 descended3381 to the river5158 Kanah,7071 southward5045 of the river:5158 these428 cities5892 of Ephraim669 are among8432 the cities5892 of Manasseh:4519 the coast1366 of Manasseh4519 also was on the north6828 side of the river,5158 and the outgoings8444 of it were at the sea:3220

10 Southward5045 it was Ephraim's,669 and northward6828 it was Manasseh's,4519 and the sea3220 is his border;1366 and they met6293 together in Asher836 on the north,6828 and in Issachar3485 on the east.4217

11 And Manasseh4519 had1961 in Issachar3485 and in Asher836 Bethshean1052 and her towns,1323 and Ibleam2991 and her towns,1323 and the inhabitants3427 of Dor1756 and her towns,1323 and the inhabitants3427 of Endor5874 and her towns,1323 and the inhabitants3427 of Taanach8590 and her towns,1323 and the inhabitants3427 of Megiddo4023 and her towns,1323 even three7969 countries.5316

12 Yet the children1121 of Manasseh4519 could3201 not drive3423 out the inhabitants of those428 cities;5892 but the Canaanites3669 would2974 dwell3427 in that land.776

13 Yet it came1961 to pass, when3588 the children1121 of Israel3478 were waxen strong,2388 that they put5414 the Canaanites3669 to tribute,4522 but did not utterly drive3423 them out.

14 And the children1121 of Joseph3130 spoke1696 to Joshua,3091 saying,559 Why4069 have you given5414 me but one259 lot1486 and one259 portion2256 to inherit,5159 seeing I am a great7227 people,5971 for as much5704 as the LORD3068 has blessed1288 me till now?5704

15 And Joshua3091 answered559 them, If518 you be a great7227 people,5971 then get5927 you up to the wood3293 country, and cut1254 down for yourself there8033 in the land776 of the Perizzites6522 and of the giants,7497 if3588 mount2022 Ephraim669 be too narrow213 for you.

16 And the children1121 of Joseph3130 said,559 The hill2022 is not enough4672 for us: and all3605 the Canaanites3669 that dwell3427 in the land776 of the valley6010 have chariots7393 of iron,1270 both they who834 are of Bethshean1052 and her towns,1323 and they who834 are of the valley6010 of Jezreel.3157

17 And Joshua3091 spoke559 to the house1004 of Joseph,3130 even to Ephraim669 and to Manasseh,4519 saying,559 You are a great7227 people,5971 and have great1419 power:3581 you shall not have1961 one259 lot1486 only:

18 But the mountain2022 shall be yours; for it is a wood,3293 and you shall cut1254 it down: and the outgoings8444 of it shall be yours: for you shall drive3423 out the Canaanites,3669 though3588 they have iron1270 chariots,7393 and though3588 they be strong.2389

2 Земля была также дана другим родам колена Манассии. Это были рода Авиезера, Хелека, Асриила, Сихема, Хефера и Шемиды. Все они были сыновьями Манассии, сына Иосифа, и их роды получили свою долю земли.

3 Салпаад был сыном Хефера. Хефер был сыном Галаада, Галаад был сыном Махира, а Махир был сыном Манассии. У Салпаада не было сыновей, а было только пять дочерей. Дочерей звали: Махла, Ноа, Хогла, Милка и Фирца.

4 Они пошли к священнику Елеазару, к Иисусу, сыну Навина, и к другим вождям и сказали: «Господь велел Моисею дать нам землю так же, как и мужчинам». Елеазар послушался повеления Господа и дал им землю, как дал сыновьям.

5 Колено Манассии имело десять участков земли на запад от реки Иордан и ещё два участка земли, Галаад и Васан, на другой стороне Иордана.

6 Дочери Манассии получили землю, как и его сыновья, а Галаадская земля была отдана остальным членам колена Манассии.

7 Земли Манассии находились между Асиром и Михмефафом, около Сихема. Граница шла на юг к местности Ен-Таппуаха.

8 Земля вокруг Таппуаха принадлежала Манассии, а сам город ему не принадлежал. Этот город находился на границе земли колена Манассии и принадлежал колену Ефрема.

9 Граница Манассии шла на юг к реке Кана. Эта земля, кроме городов, принадлежала колену Манассии, города же принадлежали колену Ефрема. Граница Манассии была на северной стороне реки и пролегала к западу до Средиземного моря.

10 Земля к югу принадлежала Ефрему, а к северу — Манассии. Средиземное море было её западной границей, северная граница примыкала к Асиру, а восточная — к Иссахару.

11 Колену Манассии также принадлежали города, лежащие у Иссахара и Асира: Беф-Сан, Ивлеам и небольшие города вокруг них. Люди из этого колена также жили в городах Дор, Ен-Дор, Фаанах, Мегиддон и в городах вокруг них, и в трёх городах Нафефа.

12 Сыны Манассии не могли покорить эти города, и хананеи продолжали жить на этой земле.

13 Когда же народ Израиля стал сильным, то заставил хананеев работать на себя, но они не вынудили ханаанский народ покинуть эту землю.

14 Потомки Иосифа говорили Иисусу: «Ты дал нам только один участок земли, а нас много. Почему ты дал нам лишь одну часть всей земли, которую Господь дал Своему народу?»

15 Иисус им ответил: «Если вас так много, то идите в горную страну, покрытую лесами, и возьмите себе ту землю. Она сейчас принадлежит ферезеям и рефаимам, но если горная страна Ефрема слишком мала для вас, то идите и захватите ту страну».

16 Потомки Иосифа сказали: «Горная страна Ефрема недостаточно велика для нас, и к тому же у живущих там хананеев есть мощное оружие — железные колесницы! Они контролируют долину Изреель, Беф-Сан и все маленькие города в этих окрестностях».

17 Тогда Иисус сказал потомкам Иосифа, Ефрема и Манассии: «Вас очень много, и вы очень сильны. Вам следует иметь больше, чем один надел этой земли.

18 Вы завладеете этой горной страной. Эта земля покрыта лесами, но вы срубите деревья и расчистите её для себя. Вы будете владеть ею целиком. Вы прогоните хананеев с этой земли, хотя у них мощное оружие, и, хотя они сильны, вы покорите их».

10 Southward5045 it was Ephraim's,669 and northward6828 it was Manasseh's,4519 and the sea3220 is his border;1366 and they met6293 together in Asher836 on the north,6828 and in Issachar3485 on the east.4217

10 Земля к югу принадлежала Ефрему, а к северу — Манассии. Средиземное море было её западной границей, северная граница примыкала к Асиру, а восточная — к Иссахару.

11 And Manasseh4519 had1961 in Issachar3485 and in Asher836 Bethshean1052 and her towns,1323 and Ibleam2991 and her towns,1323 and the inhabitants3427 of Dor1756 and her towns,1323 and the inhabitants3427 of Endor5874 and her towns,1323 and the inhabitants3427 of Taanach8590 and her towns,1323 and the inhabitants3427 of Megiddo4023 and her towns,1323 even three7969 countries.5316
