Chapter 16

1 THE prophecy concerning the rest of the land. I will send the son of the ruler of the land from the rock city of the wilderness, to the mount of the daughter of Zion.

2 And he shall be like a bird that changes its nest, so the daughters of Moab shall be deserted at the fords of Arnon.

3 Take counsel, execute judgment; make your shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; betray not him that wanders.

4 Let the outcasts of Moab dwell with you; be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler; for the destroyer is at an end, and the spoiler ceases, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

5 In mercy shall a throne be established, and he shall sit upon it, in truth in the tabernacle of David, a judge who seeks justice and hastens righteousness.

6 We have heard of the majesty of Moab; he is very proud, even of his haughtiness and his wrath; his augurers so predict concerning him.

7 Therefore shall Moab howl; every one shall howl for Moab, for the foundations of the walls are destroyed; surely they groan like the sick.

8 For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah; the mighty men of the nations have broken down the branches thereof, they are come as far as Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness; its shoots spread out, they are gone over the sea.

9 Therefore I will cause you to weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I will water you with your tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh; for an oppressor has come against your harvest and the gathering of your grapes.

10 And gladness and joy are taken away out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no rejoicing, neither shall there be shouting: nor shall they tread out wine in the press; nor shall men tread out wine with their feet; for I have made the vine treaders to cease.

11 Therefore my heart shall lament like a harp for Moab, and my soul for the fortified walls which will be destroyed.

12 And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the high places, that he shall come to the sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.

13 This is the word that the LORD has spoken concerning Moab since that time.

14 But now the LORD has spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of a hireling, the glory of Moab shall be despised, with all that great multitude of his people; and the remnant shall be very small and feeble.

1 Посылайте дары царю, пошлите ягнёнка из Селы через пустыню на гору в Иерусалиме.

2 Женщины Моава пытаются пересечь реку Арнон, бегут с одного места на другое словно малые птенцы, выпавшие из гнезда.

3 «Помоги нам, — они говорят, — скажи, что нам делать, укрой от врагов, как укрывают тени от полуденного солнца, не выдавай нас врагам».

4 Людям Моава пришлось покинуть свои дома, так позволь же им жить на твоей земле, спрячь их и не выдавай врагам. Грабёж прекратится, будут побеждены враги, исчезнут с лица земли притеснители.

5 И новый царь придёт из семьи Давида. Будет он искренним, добрым и любящим, он будет судить справедливо.

6 «Мы слышали, что люди Моава горды и тщеславны, они неистовы и любят хвастать, но их похвальба — пустые слова».

7 От этой гордости будет страдать весь Моав, все будут рыдать. Они будут скорбеть о том, что было в прошлом, и захотят изюма из Кир-Харешета.

8 Они будут печальны, потому что виноградники Есевона и Севама не смогут давать виноград, чужие правители изрубили те виноградники, вражеские полчища прошли далеко в пустыню и, достигнув города Иазер, добрались до моря.

9 «Я буду плакать вместе с людьми Иазера и Севама над уничтоженным виноградником. Я буду плакать с людьми Есевона и Елеале, оставшимся без урожая, не будет больше ни плодов, ни радостных песен.

10 Не будет песен и веселья в саду, Я прекращу ликование во время сбора винограда. Виноград готов стать вином, но весь урожай утрачен.

11 И Я печалюсь о Моаве, за Кир-Харешет горько Мне.

12 Придёт на высоты народ Моава, чтобы поклониться, войдёт в свой храм, чтобы помолиться, но не будет от этого ему никакой пользы».

13 Много раз Господь говорил это о Моаве.

14 И теперь Господь говорит: «Через три года, считая годами по наёму работников, все эти люди и всё, чем они гордятся, будет уничтожено. Останется лишь несколько уцелевших, самых слабых из всех!»

4 Людям Моава пришлось покинуть свои дома, так позволь же им жить на твоей земле, спрячь их и не выдавай врагам. Грабёж прекратится, будут побеждены враги, исчезнут с лица земли притеснители.

8 Они будут печальны, потому что виноградники Есевона и Севама не смогут давать виноград, чужие правители изрубили те виноградники, вражеские полчища прошли далеко в пустыню и, достигнув города Иазер, добрались до моря.

9 Therefore I will cause you to weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I will water you with your tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh; for an oppressor has come against your harvest and the gathering of your grapes.

9 «Я буду плакать вместе с людьми Иазера и Севама над уничтоженным виноградником. Я буду плакать с людьми Есевона и Елеале, оставшимся без урожая, не будет больше ни плодов, ни радостных песен.

10 And gladness and joy are taken away out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no rejoicing, neither shall there be shouting: nor shall they tread out wine in the press; nor shall men tread out wine with their feet; for I have made the vine treaders to cease.

10 Не будет песен и веселья в саду, Я прекращу ликование во время сбора винограда. Виноград готов стать вином, но весь урожай утрачен.

11 Therefore my heart shall lament like a harp for Moab, and my soul for the fortified walls which will be destroyed.

11 И Я печалюсь о Моаве, за Кир-Харешет горько Мне.

12 And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the high places, that he shall come to the sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.

12 Придёт на высоты народ Моава, чтобы поклониться, войдёт в свой храм, чтобы помолиться, но не будет от этого ему никакой пользы».

13 This is the word that the LORD has spoken concerning Moab since that time.

13 Много раз Господь говорил это о Моаве.

14 But now the LORD has spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of a hireling, the glory of Moab shall be despised, with all that great multitude of his people; and the remnant shall be very small and feeble.

14 И теперь Господь говорит: «Через три года, считая годами по наёму работников, все эти люди и всё, чем они гордятся, будет уничтожено. Останется лишь несколько уцелевших, самых слабых из всех!»
