Chapter 9

1 Now when these428 things were done,3615 the princes8269 came5066 to me, saying,559 The people5971 of Israel,3478 and the priests,3548 and the Levites,3881 have not separated914 themselves from the people5971 of the lands,776 doing according to their abominations,8441 even of the Canaanites,3669 the Hittites,2850 the Perizzites,6522 the Jebusites,2983 the Ammonites,5984 the Moabites,4124 the Egyptians,4713 and the Amorites.567

2 For they have taken5375 of their daughters1323 for themselves,1992 and for their sons:1121 so that the holy6944 seed2233 have mingled6148 themselves with the people5971 of those lands:776 yes, the hand3027 of the princes8269 and rulers5461 has been1961 chief7223 in this2088 trespass.4604

3 And when I heard8085 this2088 thing,1697 I rent7167 my garment899 and my mantle,4598 and plucked4803 off the hair8181 of my head7218 and of my beard,2206 and sat3427 down astonished.8074

4 Then were assembled622 to me every3605 one that trembled2730 at the words1697 of the God430 of Israel,3478 because5921 of the transgression4604 of those that had been carried1473 away;1473 and I sat3427 astonished8074 until5704 the evening6153 sacrifice.4503

5 And at the evening6153 sacrifice4503 I arose6965 up from my heaviness;8589 and having rent7167 my garment899 and my mantle,4598 I fell3766 on my knees,1290 and spread6566 out my hands3709 to the LORD3068 my God,430

6 And said,559 O my God,430 I am ashamed954 and blush3637 to lift7311 up my face6440 to you, my God:430 for our iniquities5771 are increased7235 over4605 our head,7218 and our trespass819 is grown1431 up to the heavens.8064

7 Since the days3117 of our fathers1 have we been in a great1419 trespass819 to this2088 day;3117 and for our iniquities5771 have we, our kings,4428 and our priests,3548 been delivered5414 into the hand3027 of the kings4428 of the lands,776 to the sword,2719 to captivity,7628 and to a spoil,961 and to confusion1322 of face,6440 as it is this2088 day.3117

8 And now6258 for a little4592 space7281 grace8467 has been showed from the LORD3068 our God,430 to leave7604 us a remnant to escape,6413 and to give5414 us a nail3489 in his holy6944 place,4725 that our God430 may lighten215 our eyes,5869 and give5414 us a little4592 reviving4241 in our bondage.5659

9 For we were slaves;5650 yet our God430 has not forsaken5800 us in our bondage,5659 but has extended5186 mercy2617 to us in the sight6440 of the kings4428 of Persia,6539 to give5414 us a reviving,4241 to set7311 up the house1004 of our God,430 and to repair5975 the desolations2723 thereof, and to give5414 us a wall1447 in Judah3063 and in Jerusalem.3389

10 And now,6258 O our God,430 what4100 shall we say559 after310 this?2063 for we have forsaken5800 your commandments,4687

11 Which834 you have commanded6680 by your servants5650 the prophets,5030 saying,559 The land,776 to which834 you go935 to possess3423 it, is an unclean5079 land776 with the filthiness5079 of the people5971 of the lands,776 with their abominations,8441 which834 have filled4390 it from one end6310 to another with their uncleanness.2932

12 Now6258 therefore give5414 not your daughters1323 to their sons,1121 neither408 take5375 their daughters1323 to your sons,1121 nor3808 seek1875 their peace7965 or their wealth2896 for ever:5769 that you may be strong,2388 and eat398 the good2898 of the land,776 and leave it for an inheritance3423 to your children1121 for ever.5769

13 And after310 all3605 that is come935 on us for our evil7451 deeds,4639 and for our great1419 trespass,819 seeing3588 that you our God430 have punished2820 us less4295 than our iniquities5771 deserve, and have given5414 us such deliverance6413 as this;2063

14 Should we again7725 break6565 your commandments,4687 and join2859 in affinity2859 with the people5971 of these428 abominations?8441 would not you be angry599 with us till5704 you had consumed3615 us, so that there should be no369 remnant7611 nor escaping?6413

15 O LORD3068 God430 of Israel,3478 you are righteous:6662 for we remain7604 yet escaped,6413 as it is this2063 day:3117 behold,2005 we are before6440 you in our trespasses:819 for we cannot3808 stand5975 before6440 you because5921 of this.2063

1 Когда всё это было закончено, ко мне подошли предводители и сказали: «Народ Израилев, священники и левиты еще не отделились от других народов с их мерзостями — от ханаанеев, хеттов, периззеев, евусеев, аммонитян, моавитян, египтян и амореев.

2 Дочерей этих народов они брали в жены себе и своим сыновьям и тем смешали святое семя с другими народами, а первыми в этом отступничестве были знать и начальники».

3 Услышав об этом, я разодрал свои одежды, верхние и нижние, стал рвать на себе волосы и бороду и в оцепенении сел на землю.

4 Ко мне собрались все, кто трепетал пред словом Бога Израилева и был возмущен отступничеством переселенцев. А я всё сидел в оцепенении до самого вечернего жертвоприношения.

5 Во время вечернего жертвоприношения я, выйдя из оцепенения, пал на колени в разодранных своих верхних и нижних одеждах и простер руки к ГОСПОДУ, Богу моему,

6 со словами: «Боже мой, от стыда и позора не могу поднять лица к Тебе, Боже мой! Беззакония покрыли нас с головой, вина наша достигла небес!

7 Со времен отцов наших и поныне огромна наша вина, и за беззакония наши мы вместе с царями и священниками преданы были чужим царям: мечу, изгнанию, грабежу и позору вплоть до сего дня.

8 Но на малое время снизошла на нас милость ГОСПОДА, Бога нашего: Он сберег наш остаток и дал нам поселиться на месте Его святом, чтобы светом Своим вновь озарить глаза наши и немного подкрепить нас, оказавшихся в рабстве.

9 Да, мы рабы, но и в рабстве Бог не оставил нас: Он даровал нам милость царей персидских, чтобы мы вернулись к жизни и возродили Храм Бога нашего, подняли его из руин и обрели защиту в Иудее и Иерусалиме.

10 Боже наш, чем ответим мы на всё это? Отступили мы от заповедей Твоих,

11 которые Ты заповедал нам через Своих слуг, пророков, повелев: „Земля, в которую вступите, чтобы ею владеть, — земля нечистая от скверны других народов и мерзостей их, они наполнили ее нечистотой от края до края.

12 Потому дочерей своих не выдавайте замуж за их сыновей и их дочерей не берите в жены своим сыновьям, не заботьтесь об их безопасности и благополучии никогда — и будете крепки, и вкусите блага земные, и вечно земля будет наследием сынов ваших“.

13 И после всего того, что постигло нас за наши злые дела и тяжкие провинности, — ведь Ты, Боже наш, уберег нас от заслуженного воздаяния за наши пороки, спас наш остаток! —

14 станем ли мы снова нарушать заповеди и родниться с народами, творящими эти мерзости? Неужели не прогневаешься Ты тогда на нас до конца, так что и остатка никакого не сохранится?

15 ГОСПОДИ, Боже Израилев, праведен Ты, а нас, уцелевших, ныне так мало! Вот мы пред Тобой с этой нашей виной, хоть теперь мы и недостойны предстоять пред Тобой!»

3 Услышав об этом, я разодрал свои одежды, верхние и нижние, стал рвать на себе волосы и бороду и в оцепенении сел на землю.

4 Ко мне собрались все, кто трепетал пред словом Бога Израилева и был возмущен отступничеством переселенцев. А я всё сидел в оцепенении до самого вечернего жертвоприношения.

5 Во время вечернего жертвоприношения я, выйдя из оцепенения, пал на колени в разодранных своих верхних и нижних одеждах и простер руки к ГОСПОДУ, Богу моему,

7 Со времен отцов наших и поныне огромна наша вина, и за беззакония наши мы вместе с царями и священниками преданы были чужим царям: мечу, изгнанию, грабежу и позору вплоть до сего дня.

8 Но на малое время снизошла на нас милость ГОСПОДА, Бога нашего: Он сберег наш остаток и дал нам поселиться на месте Его святом, чтобы светом Своим вновь озарить глаза наши и немного подкрепить нас, оказавшихся в рабстве.

9 Да, мы рабы, но и в рабстве Бог не оставил нас: Он даровал нам милость царей персидских, чтобы мы вернулись к жизни и возродили Храм Бога нашего, подняли его из руин и обрели защиту в Иудее и Иерусалиме.

10 Боже наш, чем ответим мы на всё это? Отступили мы от заповедей Твоих,

11 которые Ты заповедал нам через Своих слуг, пророков, повелев: „Земля, в которую вступите, чтобы ею владеть, — земля нечистая от скверны других народов и мерзостей их, они наполнили ее нечистотой от края до края.

12 Now6258 therefore give5414 not your daughters1323 to their sons,1121 neither408 take5375 their daughters1323 to your sons,1121 nor3808 seek1875 their peace7965 or their wealth2896 for ever:5769 that you may be strong,2388 and eat398 the good2898 of the land,776 and leave it for an inheritance3423 to your children1121 for ever.5769

12 Потому дочерей своих не выдавайте замуж за их сыновей и их дочерей не берите в жены своим сыновьям, не заботьтесь об их безопасности и благополучии никогда — и будете крепки, и вкусите блага земные, и вечно земля будет наследием сынов ваших“.

13 And after310 all3605 that is come935 on us for our evil7451 deeds,4639 and for our great1419 trespass,819 seeing3588 that you our God430 have punished2820 us less4295 than our iniquities5771 deserve, and have given5414 us such deliverance6413 as this;2063

13 И после всего того, что постигло нас за наши злые дела и тяжкие провинности, — ведь Ты, Боже наш, уберег нас от заслуженного воздаяния за наши пороки, спас наш остаток! —

14 Should we again7725 break6565 your commandments,4687 and join2859 in affinity2859 with the people5971 of these428 abominations?8441 would not you be angry599 with us till5704 you had consumed3615 us, so that there should be no369 remnant7611 nor escaping?6413

14 станем ли мы снова нарушать заповеди и родниться с народами, творящими эти мерзости? Неужели не прогневаешься Ты тогда на нас до конца, так что и остатка никакого не сохранится?

15 ГОСПОДИ, Боже Израилев, праведен Ты, а нас, уцелевших, ныне так мало! Вот мы пред Тобой с этой нашей виной, хоть теперь мы и недостойны предстоять пред Тобой!»
