Chapter 19

1 Then Job347 answered6030 and said,559

2 How5704 long5704 will you vex3013 my soul,5315 and break1792 me in pieces with words?4405

3 These2088 ten6235 times6471 have you reproached3637 me: you are not ashamed954 that you make yourselves strange1970 to me.

4 And be it indeed551 that I have erred,7683 my error4879 remains3885 with myself.

5 If518 indeed551 you will magnify1431 yourselves against5921 me, and plead3198 against5921 me my reproach:2781

6 Know3045 now645 that God433 has overthrown5791 me, and has compassed5362 me with his net.4685

7 Behold,2005 I cry6817 out of wrong,2555 but I am not heard:6030 I cry7768 aloud,7768 but there is no3808 judgment.4941

8 He has fenced1443 up my way734 that I cannot3808 pass,5674 and he has set7760 darkness2822 in my paths.5410

9 He has stripped6584 me of my glory,3519 and taken5493 the crown5850 from my head.7218

10 He has destroyed5422 me on every5437 side,5439 and I am gone:3212 and my hope8615 has he removed5265 like a tree.6086

11 He has also kindled2734 his wrath639 against5921 me, and he counts2803 me to him as one of his enemies.6862

12 His troops1416 come935 together,3162 and raise5549 up their way1870 against5921 me, and encamp2583 round5439 about my tabernacle.168

13 He has put my brothers251 far7350 from me, and my acquaintance3045 are truly389 estranged2114 from me.

14 My kinsfolk7138 have failed,2308 and my familiar3045 friends have forgotten7911 me.

15 They that dwell1481 in my house,1004 and my maids,519 count2803 me for a stranger:2114 I am an alien5237 in their sight.5869

16 I called7121 my servant,5650 and he gave me no3808 answer;6030 I entreated2603 him with my mouth.6310

17 My breath7307 is strange2114 to my wife,802 though I entreated2589 for the children's1121 sake of my own body.990

18 Yes,1571 young children despised3988 me; I arose,6965 and they spoke1696 against me.

19 All3605 my inward5475 friends4962 abhorred8581 me: and they whom I loved157 are turned2015 against me.

20 My bone6106 sticks1692 to my skin5785 and to my flesh,1320 and I am escaped4422 with the skin5785 of my teeth.8127

21 Have pity2603 on me, have pity2603 on me, O you my friends;7453 for the hand3027 of God433 has touched5060 me.

22 Why4100 do you persecute7291 me as God,410 and are not satisfied7646 with my flesh?1320

23 Oh that my words4405 were now645 written!3789 oh that they were printed2710 in a book!5612

24 That they were graven2672 with an iron1270 pen5842 and lead5777 in the rock6697 for ever!5703

25 For I know3045 that my redeemer1350 lives,2416 and that he shall stand6965 at the latter314 day on the earth:6083

26 And though after310 my skin5785 worms destroy5362 this2063 body, yet in my flesh1320 shall I see2372 God:433

27 Whom834 I shall see2372 for myself, and my eyes5869 shall behold,7200 and not another;2114 though my reins3629 be consumed3615 within2436 me.

28 But you should say,559 Why4100 persecute7291 we him, seeing the root8328 of the matter1697 is found4672 in me?

29 Be you afraid1481 of the sword:2719 for wrath2534 brings the punishments5771 of the sword,2719 that you may know3045 there is a judgment.1779

2 «Сколько будете терзать меня, истязать меня своими речами?

3 Вот уже раз десять вы надо мной глумились — и не стыдно вам меня мучить!

4 Если и вправду я отступил от истины, мне одному отвечать за этот проступок!

5 Но раз вы похваляетесь передо мной и в позоре моем меня обвиняете,

6 знайте же, это Бог возложил на меня это бремя, и я согнулся под его тяжестью. Это Он сеть Свою на меня набросил!

7 Вот кричу я: „Насилье!“ — и нет мне ответа! Зову на помощь — и нет справедливости!

8 Дорогу мне преградил — не могу пройти, путь мой окутал тьмою.

9 Обнажил меня, славы моей лишив, венец с головы моей сорвал.

10 Губит меня отовсюду — я погибаю! Словно дерево, искоренил мою надежду.

11 Гневом на меня пылает, считает меня врагом Своим.

12 Собрались Его полчища, вал против меня воздвигли, со всех сторон шатер мой осадили.

13 Он отдалил от меня и братьев моих, знакомые чураются меня.

14 Бросили меня близкие и друзья, забыли меня

15 мои домочадцы и служанки, пришлым меня считают, стал я для них чужаком.

16 Позову слугу — он не отвечает, даже если начну упрашивать его устами своими.

17 Дыхание мое отвратительно жене моей, родичам моим противен запах мой.

18 Даже малые дети меня презирают, лишь я поднимусь — дразнят меня.

19 Самым близким друзьям я стал мерзок, те, кого я любил, от меня отвернулись.

20 Плоть и кожа мои на костях обвисли, от зубов моих одни десны остались.

21 Пощадите меня, друзья мои! Пощадите! Ведь рука Божья обрушилась на меня!

22 Почему вы, как и Бог, гоните меня? Не можете насытиться страданиями плоти моей?

23 О, если б слова мои были записаны, в свиток занесены!

24 Если б начертаны были стержнем железным и свинцом навеки запечатлены в камне!

25 Но я знаю — Искупитель мой жив! И в конце Он встанет над прахом!

26 Даже тогда, когда кожа моя распадется, я во плоти моей увижу Бога!

27 Сам увижу, своими глазами, я, а не кто-то другой! Как же томится в груди мое сердце!

28 А вы всё говорите: „Как еще его подловим? В чем еще его обвиним?“

29 Убойтесь меча, ибо обрушится ярость на беззаконных, чтобы знали вы, что есть правый суд!»
