Job

Chapter 27

Moreover Job347 continued3254 his parable,4912 and said,559

As God410 lives,2416 who has taken5493 away5493 my judgment;4941 and the Almighty,7706 who has vexed4843 my soul;5315

All3605 the while5750 my breath5397 is in me, and the spirit7307 of God433 is in my nostrils;639

My lips8193 shall not speak1696 wickedness,5766 nor518 my tongue3956 utter1897 deceit.7423

God forbid2486 that I should justify6663 you: till5704 I die1478 I will not remove5493 my integrity8538 from me.

My righteousness6666 I hold2388 fast, and will not let it go:7503 my heart3824 shall not reproach2778 me so3605 long3117 as I live.3117

Let my enemy341 be as the wicked,7563 and he that rises6965 up against me as the unrighteous.5767

For what4100 is the hope8615 of the hypocrite,2611 though3588 he has gained,1214 when3588 God433 takes7953 away7953 his soul?5315

Will God410 hear8085 his cry6818 when3588 trouble6869 comes935 on him?

Will he delight6026 himself in the Almighty?7706 will he always6256 call7121 on God?433

I will teach3384 you by the hand3027 of God:410 that which834 is with the Almighty7706 will I not conceal.3582

Behold,2005 all3605 you yourselves have seen2372 it; why4100 then are you thus2088 altogether vain?1891

This2088 is the portion2506 of a wicked7563 man120 with God,410 and the heritage5159 of oppressors,6184 which they shall receive3947 of the Almighty.7706

If518 his children1121 be multiplied,7235 it is for the sword:2719 and his offspring6631 shall not be satisfied7646 with bread.3899

Those that remain8300 of him shall be buried6912 in death:4194 and his widows490 shall not weep.1058

Though518 he heap6651 up silver3701 as the dust,6083 and prepare3559 raiment4403 as the clay;2563

He may prepare3559 it, but the just6662 shall put3847 it on, and the innocent5355 shall divide2505 the silver.3701

He builds1129 his house1004 as a moth,6211 and as a booth5521 that the keeper5341 makes.6213

The rich6223 man shall lie7901 down,7901 but he shall not be gathered:622 he opens6491 his eyes,5869 and he is not.

Terrors1091 take5381 hold5381 on him as waters,4325 a tempest5492 steals1589 him away in the night.3915

The east6921 wind carries5375 him away, and he departs:3212 and as a storm hurles8175 him out of his place.4725

For God410 shall cast7993 on him, and not spare:2550 he would fain1272 flee1272 out of his hand.3027

Men shall clap5606 their hands3709 at5921 him, and shall hiss8319 him out of his place.4725
