1 The word1697 which834 came1961 to Jeremiah3414 from the LORD,3068 when king4428 Zedekiah6667 sent7971 to him Pashur6583 the son1121 of Melchiah,4441 and Zephaniah6846 the son1121 of Maaseiah4641 the priest,3548 saying,559

2 Inquire,1875 I pray4994 you, of the LORD3068 for us; for Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon894 makes war3898 against5921 us; if194 so be that the LORD3068 will deal6213 with us according to all3605 his wondrous6381 works, that he may go5927 up from us.

3 Then said559 Jeremiah3414 to them, Thus3541 shall you say559 to Zedekiah:6667

4 Thus3541 said559 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel;3478 Behold,2005 I will turn5437 back5437 the weapons3627 of war4421 that are in your hands,3027 with which834 you fight3898 against the king4428 of Babylon,894 and against the Chaldeans,3778 which besiege6696 you without2351 the walls,2346 and I will assemble622 them into413 the middle8432 of this2063 city.5892

5 And I myself589 will fight3898 against you with an outstretched5186 hand3027 and with a strong2389 arm,2220 even in anger,639 and in fury,2534 and in great1419 wrath.7110

6 And I will smite5221 the inhabitants3427 of this2063 city,5892 both man120 and beast:929 they shall die4191 of a great1419 pestilence.1698

7 And afterward,310 3651 said5002 the LORD,3068 I will deliver5414 Zedekiah6667 king4428 of Judah,3063 and his servants,5650 and the people,5971 and such as are left7604 in this2063 city5892 from the pestilence,1698 from the sword,2719 and from the famine,7458 into the hand3027 of Nebuchadrezzar5019 king4428 of Babylon,894 and into the hand3027 of their enemies,341 and into the hand3027 of those that seek1245 their life:5315 and he shall smite5221 them with the edge6310 of the sword;2719 he shall not spare2347 them, neither3808 have pity,2550 nor3808 have mercy.7355

8 And to this2088 people5971 you shall say,559 Thus3541 said559 the LORD;3068 Behold,2005 I set5414 before6440 you the way1870 of life,2416 and the way1870 of death.4194

9 He that stays3427 in this2063 city5892 shall die4191 by the sword,2719 and by the famine,7458 and by the pestilence:1698 but he that goes3318 out, and falls5307 to the Chaldeans3778 that besiege6696 you, he shall live,2421 and his life5315 shall be to him for a prey.7998

10 For I have set7760 my face6440 against this2063 city5892 for evil,7451 and not for good,2896 said5002 the LORD:3068 it shall be given5414 into the hand3027 of the king4428 of Babylon,894 and he shall burn8313 it with fire.784

11 And touching the house1004 of the king4428 of Judah,3063 say, Hear8085 you the word1697 of the LORD;3068

12 O house1004 of David,1732 thus3541 said559 the LORD;3068 Execute1777 judgment4941 in the morning,1242 and deliver5337 him that is spoiled1497 out of the hand3027 of the oppressor,6231 lest6435 my fury2534 go3318 out like fire,784 and burn1197 that none369 can quench3518 it, because6440 of the evil7455 of your doings.4611

13 Behold,2005 I am against413 you, O inhabitant3427 of the valley,6010 and rock6697 of the plain,4334 said5002 the LORD;3068 which say,559 Who4310 shall come5181 down5181 against5921 us? or who4310 shall enter935 into our habitations?4585

14 But I will punish6485 you according to the fruit6529 of your doings,4611 said5002 the LORD:3068 and I will kindle3341 a fire784 in the forest3293 thereof, and it shall devour398 all3605 things round5439 about it.

1 Слово, що було до Єремії від Господа, коли цар Седекі́я послав був до нього Пашхура, сина Малкійїного, та священика Цефанію, сина Маасеїного, говорячи:

2 „Звернися за нас до Господа, бо Навуходоно́сор, цар вавилонський, воює проти нас. Може Господь зробить з нами за всіма́ Своїми чу́дами, і той віді́йде від нас!“

3 І сказав Єремія до них: „Так скажіть до Седекії:

4 Так говорить Господь, Бог Ізраїлів: Ось Я назад оберну́ військо́ві знаря́ддя, що в вашій руці, що ви воюєте ними поза муром з вавилонським царем та з халде́ями, які обляга́ють вас, і позбираю їх до сере́дини цього міста.

5 І буду Я воювати з вами рукою ви́тягненою та сильним раме́ном, і в гніві, і в лю́ті, і в великому пересе́рді!

6 І вражу́ ме́шканців цього міста, і чоловіка, і худобу, — від великої морови́ці повмирають вони!

7 А потому — говорить Господь — Я віддам Седекію, Юдиного царя, і його рабів, і наро́д, і врятованих у цьому місті від морови́ці, від меча та від голоду в руку Навуходоно́сора, царя вавилонського, та в руку ворогів їхніх, що шукають їхньої душі, і він ударить їх ві́стрям меча, — не змилується над ними й не змилосе́рдиться, і не матиме любови!

8 А цьому наро́дові скажеш: Так говорить Господь: Ось Я даю перед вами дорогу життя й дорогу смерти.

9 Хто сидітиме в цьому місті, той помре від меча́, і від голоду та від морови́ці; а той, хто пере́йде і при́йде до халдеїв, що вас обляга́ють, буде жити, і стане йому душа його за здо́бич.

10 Бо Я оберну́в лице Своє на це місто на зле, а не на добре, — говорить Господь, — воно буде да́не в руку царя вавилонського, а він спалить його огнем!

11 А домові царя Юди скажи так: Послухайте сло́ва Господнього:

12 Доме Давидів, отак промовляє Госпо́дь: Судіть вранці суд і рятуйте грабо́ваного від руки переслі́дника, щоб не вийшла, немов той огонь, Моя лють, — і вона запала́є за зло ваших учинків, і не буде кому погаси́ти!

13 Ось Я проти тебе, мешканко долини, о ске́ле рівни́ни, — говорить Госпо́дь, — на вас, що говорите: „Хто при́йде на нас і хто вві́йде в поме́шкання наші?“

14 Бо Я покараю вас згідно із пло́дом ваших учинків, — говорить Господь, — і огонь запалю́ в його лісі, і він пожере всі довкі́лля його!

3 І сказав Єремія до них: „Так скажіть до Седекії:

4 Thus3541 said559 the LORD3068 God430 of Israel;3478 Behold,2005 I will turn5437 back5437 the weapons3627 of war4421 that are in your hands,3027 with which834 you fight3898 against the king4428 of Babylon,894 and against the Chaldeans,3778 which besiege6696 you without2351 the walls,2346 and I will assemble622 them into413 the middle8432 of this2063 city.5892

4 Так говорить Господь, Бог Ізраїлів: Ось Я назад оберну́ військо́ві знаря́ддя, що в вашій руці, що ви воюєте ними поза муром з вавилонським царем та з халде́ями, які обляга́ють вас, і позбираю їх до сере́дини цього міста.

5 And I myself589 will fight3898 against you with an outstretched5186 hand3027 and with a strong2389 arm,2220 even in anger,639 and in fury,2534 and in great1419 wrath.7110

5 І буду Я воювати з вами рукою ви́тягненою та сильним раме́ном, і в гніві, і в лю́ті, і в великому пересе́рді!

8 And to this2088 people5971 you shall say,559 Thus3541 said559 the LORD;3068 Behold,2005 I set5414 before6440 you the way1870 of life,2416 and the way1870 of death.4194

8 А цьому наро́дові скажеш: Так говорить Господь: Ось Я даю перед вами дорогу життя й дорогу смерти.

10 Бо Я оберну́в лице Своє на це місто на зле, а не на добре, — говорить Господь, — воно буде да́не в руку царя вавилонського, а він спалить його огнем!

11 And touching the house1004 of the king4428 of Judah,3063 say, Hear8085 you the word1697 of the LORD;3068

11 А домові царя Юди скажи так: Послухайте сло́ва Господнього:

12 O house1004 of David,1732 thus3541 said559 the LORD;3068 Execute1777 judgment4941 in the morning,1242 and deliver5337 him that is spoiled1497 out of the hand3027 of the oppressor,6231 lest6435 my fury2534 go3318 out like fire,784 and burn1197 that none369 can quench3518 it, because6440 of the evil7455 of your doings.4611

12 Доме Давидів, отак промовляє Госпо́дь: Судіть вранці суд і рятуйте грабо́ваного від руки переслі́дника, щоб не вийшла, немов той огонь, Моя лють, — і вона запала́є за зло ваших учинків, і не буде кому погаси́ти!

13 Ось Я проти тебе, мешканко долини, о ске́ле рівни́ни, — говорить Госпо́дь, — на вас, що говорите: „Хто при́йде на нас і хто вві́йде в поме́шкання наші?“
