Chapter 19

1 And2532 Jesus entered1525 and passed through1330 Jericho.2410

2 And,2532 behold,2400 there was a man435 named3686 2564 Zacchaeus,2195 2532 which846 was2258 the chief among the publicans,754 and2532 he3778 was2258 rich.4145

3 And2532 he sought2212 to see1492 Jesus2424 who5101 he was;2076 and2076 could1410 not3756 for575 the3588 press,3793 because3754 he was2258 little3398 of stature.2244

4 And2532 he ran4390 before,1715 and climbed up305 into1909 a sycamore tree4809 to2443 see1492 him:846 for3754 he was3195 to pass1330 that1565 way.

5 And2532 when5613 Jesus2424 came2064 to1909 the3588 place,5117 he looked up,308 and saw1492 him,846 and2532 said2036 unto4314 him,846 Zacchaeus,2195 make haste,4692 and come down;2597 for1063 today4594 I3165 must1163 abide3306 at1722 thy4675 house.3624

6 And2532 he made haste,4692 and came down,2597 and2532 received5264 him846 joyfully.5463

7 And2532 when they saw1492 it, they all537 murmured,1234 saying,3004 That3754 he was gone1525 to be guest2647 with3844 a man435 that is a sinner.268

8 And1161 Zacchaeus2195 stood,2476 and said2036 unto4314 the3588 Lord;2962 Behold,2400 Lord,2962 the3588 half2255 of my3450 goods5224 I give1325 to the3588 poor;4434 and2532 if1487 I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation,4811 5100 5100 I restore591 him fourfold.5073

9 And1161 Jesus2424 said2036 unto4314 him,846 This day4594 is salvation4991 come1096 to this5129 house3624 forsomuch as2530 he846 also2532 is2076 a son5207 of Abraham.11

10 For1063 the3588 Son5207 of man444 is come2064 to seek2212 and2532 to save4982 that which was lost.622

11 And1161 as they846 heard191 these things,5023 he added4369 and spake2036 a parable,3850 because he846 was1511 nigh to1451 Jerusalem,2419 and2532 because they846 thought1380 that3754 the3588 kingdom932 of God2316 should3195 immediately3916 appear.398

12 He said2036 therefore,3767 A certain5100 noble2104 man444 went4198 into1519 a far3117 country5561 to receive2983 for himself1438 a kingdom,932 and2532 to return.5290

13 And1161 he called2564 his1438 ten1176 servants,1401 and delivered1325 them846 ten1176 pounds,3414 and2532 said2036 unto4314 them,846 Occupy4231 till2193 I come.2064

14 But1161 his846 citizens4177 hated3404 him,846 and2532 sent649 a message4242 after3694 him,846 saying,3004 We will not3756 have2309 this5126 man to reign936 over1909 us.2248

15 And2532 it came to pass,1096 that when he846 was returned,1880 having received2983 the3588 kingdom,932 then2532 he commanded2036 these5128 servants1401 to be called5455 unto him,848 to whom3739 he had given1325 the3588 money,694 that2443 he might know1097 how much5101 every man5100 had gained by trading.1281

16 Then1161 came3854 the3588 first,4413 saying,3004 Lord,2962 thy4675 pound3414 hath gained4333 ten1176 pounds.3414

17 And2532 he said2036 unto him,846 Well,2095 thou good18 servant: 1401 because3754 thou hast been1096 faithful4103 in1722 a very little,1646 have2468 2192 thou authority1849 over1883 ten1176 cities.4172

18 And2532 the3588 second1208 came,2064 saying,3004 Lord,2962 thy4675 pound3414 hath gained4160 five4002 pounds.3414

19 And1161 he said2036 likewise2532 to him,5129 Be1096 thou4771 also2532 over1883 five4002 cities.4172

20 And2532 another2087 came,2064 saying,3004 Lord,2962 behold,2400 here is thy4675 pound,3414 which3739 I have2192 kept laid up606 in1722 a napkin: 4676

21 For1063 I feared5399 thee,4571 because3754 thou art1488 an austere840 man: 444 thou takest up142 that3739 thou laidst not down,5087 3756 and2532 reapest2325 that3739 thou didst not3756 sow.4687

22 And1161 he saith3004 unto him,846 Out1537 of thine own4675 mouth4750 will I judge2919 thee,4571 thou wicked4190 servant.1401 Thou knewest1492 that3754 I1473 was1510 an austere840 man,444 taking up142 that3739 I laid not down,5087 3756 and2532 reaping2325 that3739 I did not3756 sow: 4687

23 Wherefore1302 then2532 gavest1325 not3756 thou my3450 money694 into1909 the3588 bank,5132 that2532 at my1473 coming2064 I might have required4238 302 mine own846 with4862 usury?5110

24 And2532 he said2036 unto them that stood by,3936 Take142 from575 him846 the3588 pound,3414 and2532 give1325 it to him that hath2192 ten1176 pounds.3414

25 (And2532 they said2036 unto him,846 Lord,2962 he hath2192 ten1176 pounds.)3414

26 For1063 I say3004 unto you,5213 That3754 unto every one3956 which hath2192 shall be given;1325 and1161 from575 him that hath2192 not,3361 even2532 that3739 he hath2192 shall be taken away142 from575 him.846

27 But4133 those1565 mine3450 enemies,2190 which would2309 not3361 that I3165 should reign936 over1909 them,846 bring71 hither,5602 and2532 slay2695 them before1715 me.3450

28 And2532 when he had thus5023 spoken,2036 he went4198 before,1715 ascending up305 to1519 Jerusalem.2414

29 And2532 it came to pass,1096 when5613 he was come nigh1448 to1519 Bethphage967 and2532 Bethany,963 at4314 the3588 mount3735 called2564 the mount of Olives,1636 he sent649 two1417 of his848 disciples,3101

30 Saying,2036 Go5217 ye into1519 the3588 village2968 over against2713 you; in1722 the which3739 at your entering1531 ye shall find2147 a colt4454 tied,1210 whereon1909 3739 yet never4455 3762 man444 sat: 2523 loose3089 him,846 and bring71 him hither.

31 And2532 if1437 any man5100 ask2065 you,5209 Why1302 do ye loose3089 him? thus3779 shall ye say2046 unto him,846 Because3754 the3588 Lord2962 hath2192 need5532 of him.846

32 And1161 they that were sent649 went their way,565 and found2147 even as2531 he had said2036 unto them.846

33 And1161 as they846 were loosing3089 the3588 colt,4454 the3588 owners2962 thereof846 said2036 unto4314 them,846 Why5101 loose3089 ye the3588 colt?4454

34 And1161 they3588 said,2036 The3588 Lord2962 hath2192 need5532 of him.846

35 And2532 they brought71 him846 to4314 Jesus:2424 and2532 they cast1977 their1438 garments2440 upon1909 the3588 colt,4454 and they set Jesus thereon.1913 2424

36 And1161 as he846 went,4198 they spread5291 their848 clothes2440 in1722 the3588 way.3598

37 And1161 when he846 was come nigh,1448 even now2235 at4314 the3588 descent2600 of the3588 mount3735 of Olives,1636 the3588 whole537 multitude4128 of the3588 disciples3101 began756 to rejoice5463 and praise134 God2316 with a loud3173 voice5456 for4012 all3956 the mighty works1411 that3739 they had seen;1492

38 saying,3004 Blessed2127 be the3588 King935 that cometh2064 in1722 the name3686 of the Lord:2962 peace1515 in1722 heaven,3772 and2532 glory1391 in1722 the highest.5310

39 And2532 some5100 of the3588 Pharisees5330 from575 among the3588 multitude3793 said2036 unto4314 him,846 Master,1320 rebuke2008 thy4675 disciples.3101

40 And2532 he answered611 and said2036 unto them,846 I tell3004 you5213 that,3754 if1437 these3778 should hold their peace,4623 the3588 stones3037 would immediately cry out.2896

41 And2532 when5613 he was come near,1448 he beheld1492 the3588 city,4172 and wept2799 over1909 it,846

42 saying,3004 If1487 thou hadst known,1097 even2532 thou,4771 at least2532 1065 in1722 this5026 thy4675 day,2250 the things3588 which belong unto4314 thy4675 peace!1515 but1161 now3568 they are hid2928 from575 thine4675 eyes.3788

43 For3754 the days2250 shall come2240 upon1909 thee,4571 that2532 thine4675 enemies2190 shall cast a trench about4016 5482 thee,4571 and2532 compass thee round,4033 4571 and2532 keep thee in4912 4571 on every side,3840

44 And2532 shall lay thee even with the ground,1474 4571 and2532 thy4675 children5043 within1722 thee;4671 and2532 they shall not3756 leave863 in1722 thee4671 one stone upon another;3037 1909 3037 because473 3739 thou knewest1097 not3756 the3588 time2540 of thy4675 visitation.1984

45 And2532 he went1525 into1519 the3588 temple,2411 and began756 to cast out1544 them that sold4453 therein,1722 846 and2532 them that bought;59

46 Saying3004 unto them,846 It is written,1125 My3450 house3624 is2076 the house3624 of prayer: 4335 but1161 ye5210 have made4160 it846 a den4693 of thieves.3027

47 And2532 he taught2258 1321 daily2596 2250 in1722 the3588 temple.2411 But1161 the3588 chief priests749 and2532 the3588 scribes1122 and2532 the3588 chief4413 of the3588 people2992 sought2212 to destroy622 him,846

48 And2532 could not3756 find2147 what5101 they might do:4160 for1063 all537 the3588 people2992 were very attentive1582 to hear191 him.846

Chapter 19

1 AND when Jesus entered and passed through Jericho,

2 There was a man named Zacchaeus, who was rich and chief of the publicans.

3 And he wanted to see who Jesus was; but he could not because of the crowd, for Zacchaeus was small in his stature.

4 So he ran ahead of Jesus, and climbed up into a fig tree without leaves, that he might see him, because he was to pass that way.

5 When Jesus came to that place, he saw him and said to him, Make haste, come down, O Zacchaeus, for today I must remain in your house.

6 And he hastened, and came down, and welcomed him with joy.

7 Now when they all saw it, they murmured, saying, He has entered to stay in the house of a sinner.

8 But Zacchaeus rose up and said to Jesus, Behold, my Lord, half of my wealth I will give to the poor; and I will pay fourfold to every man from whom I have extorted.

9 Jesus said to him, Today life has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

10 For the Son of man came to seek and save that which was lost.

11 While they were listening to these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they were expecting that the kingdom of God would appear at that very hour;

12 And he said, A great man of a noble family went to a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and return.

13 And he called his ten servants, and gave them ten pounds, and said to them, Do business until I come back.

14 But the people of his city hated him, and sent messengers after him, saying, We do not want him to rule over us.

15 And when he received the kingdom and returned, he commanded to call his servants, to whom he had given the money, that he might know what each one of them had gained in business.

16 The first one came and said, My lord, your pound has gained ten pounds.

17 He said to him, O good servant, because you are found faithful in a little, you will have charge over ten talents. *

18 And the second came and said, My lord, your pound has gained five pounds.

19 He said to this one also, You also will have charge over five talents.

20 And another one came and said, My lord, here is your pound which was with me, which I kept laid up in a purse.

21 For I was afraid of you, because you are a harsh man; you pick up what you have not laid down, and you reap what you have not sown.

22 He said to him, I will judge you from your own mouth, O wicked servant. You knew me that I am a harsh man, and pick up what I have not laid down, and reap what I have not sown.

23 Why then did you not give my money to the exchange, so that when I came I could demand it with its interest?

24 And he said to those who stood in his presence, Take away the pound from him, and give it to him who has ten pounds.

25 They said to him, Our lord, he has already with him ten pounds.

26 He said to them, I say to you, to everyone who has shall be given; and from him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away from him.

27 But those my enemies, who were not willing that I should rule over them, bring them here, and kill them before me.

28 And when Jesus had said these things, he went forward to go to Jerusalem.

29 And when he arrived at Bethphage and Bethany, on the side of the mountain which is called the Home of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

30 And he said to them, Go to the village which is in front of us; and when you enter it you will find a colt tied up, on which no man has ever ridden; untie it and bring it.

31 And if any man should ask you, Why do you untie it? tell him this: Our lord needs it.

32 And those who were sent went away, and found just as he had told them.

33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, Why do you untie the colt?

34 And they said to them, Our Lord needs it.

35 And they brought it to Jesus; and they put their garments on the colt, and they set Jesus on it.

36 And as he went on, they spread their garments on the road.

37 And when he came near to the descent of the Mount of the Home of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice, praising God with a loud voice, for all the miracles which they had seen,

38 Saying, Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven and glory in the highest.

39 But some of the men of the Pharisees who were in the multitude said to him, Teacher, rebuke your disciples.

40 He said to them, I say to you, that if these should keep silent, the stones would cry out.

41 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it;

42 And he said, If you had only known those who are concerned in your peace, even in this your day! but now they are hidden from your eyes.

43 But the days will come to you, when your enemies will surround you, and oppress you from every place,

44 And will overthrow you, and your children within you; and they will not leave in you a stone upon a stone; because you did not know the time when you were to be visited.

45 And when he entered the temple, he began to put out those who were buying and selling in it;

46 And he said to them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer; but you have made it a cave of bandits.

47 And he taught every day in the temple. But the high priests and the scribes and the elders of the people sought to get rid of him;

48 But they were not able to find what to do to him; for all the people hung around him to hear him.

21 For I was afraid of you, because you are a harsh man; you pick up what you have not laid down, and you reap what you have not sown.

22 He said to him, I will judge you from your own mouth, O wicked servant. You knew me that I am a harsh man, and pick up what I have not laid down, and reap what I have not sown.

23 Wherefore1302 then2532 gavest1325 not3756 thou my3450 money694 into1909 the3588 bank,5132 that2532 at my1473 coming2064 I might have required4238 302 mine own846 with4862 usury?5110

23 Why then did you not give my money to the exchange, so that when I came I could demand it with its interest?

24 And2532 he said2036 unto them that stood by,3936 Take142 from575 him846 the3588 pound,3414 and2532 give1325 it to him that hath2192 ten1176 pounds.3414

24 And he said to those who stood in his presence, Take away the pound from him, and give it to him who has ten pounds.

25 (And2532 they said2036 unto him,846 Lord,2962 he hath2192 ten1176 pounds.)3414

25 They said to him, Our lord, he has already with him ten pounds.

26 For1063 I say3004 unto you,5213 That3754 unto every one3956 which hath2192 shall be given;1325 and1161 from575 him that hath2192 not,3361 even2532 that3739 he hath2192 shall be taken away142 from575 him.846

26 He said to them, I say to you, to everyone who has shall be given; and from him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away from him.

27 But4133 those1565 mine3450 enemies,2190 which would2309 not3361 that I3165 should reign936 over1909 them,846 bring71 hither,5602 and2532 slay2695 them before1715 me.3450

27 But those my enemies, who were not willing that I should rule over them, bring them here, and kill them before me.

28 And2532 when he had thus5023 spoken,2036 he went4198 before,1715 ascending up305 to1519 Jerusalem.2414

28 And when Jesus had said these things, he went forward to go to Jerusalem.

29 And2532 it came to pass,1096 when5613 he was come nigh1448 to1519 Bethphage967 and2532 Bethany,963 at4314 the3588 mount3735 called2564 the mount of Olives,1636 he sent649 two1417 of his848 disciples,3101

29 And when he arrived at Bethphage and Bethany, on the side of the mountain which is called the Home of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

30 And he said to them, Go to the village which is in front of us; and when you enter it you will find a colt tied up, on which no man has ever ridden; untie it and bring it.

31 And2532 if1437 any man5100 ask2065 you,5209 Why1302 do ye loose3089 him? thus3779 shall ye say2046 unto him,846 Because3754 the3588 Lord2962 hath2192 need5532 of him.846

31 And if any man should ask you, Why do you untie it? tell him this: Our lord needs it.

32 And1161 they that were sent649 went their way,565 and found2147 even as2531 he had said2036 unto them.846

32 And those who were sent went away, and found just as he had told them.

33 And1161 as they846 were loosing3089 the3588 colt,4454 the3588 owners2962 thereof846 said2036 unto4314 them,846 Why5101 loose3089 ye the3588 colt?4454

33 And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, Why do you untie the colt?

34 And1161 they3588 said,2036 The3588 Lord2962 hath2192 need5532 of him.846

34 And they said to them, Our Lord needs it.

35 And2532 they brought71 him846 to4314 Jesus:2424 and2532 they cast1977 their1438 garments2440 upon1909 the3588 colt,4454 and they set Jesus thereon.1913 2424

35 And they brought it to Jesus; and they put their garments on the colt, and they set Jesus on it.

36 And1161 as he846 went,4198 they spread5291 their848 clothes2440 in1722 the3588 way.3598

36 And as he went on, they spread their garments on the road.

37 And when he came near to the descent of the Mount of the Home of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice, praising God with a loud voice, for all the miracles which they had seen,

38 saying,3004 Blessed2127 be the3588 King935 that cometh2064 in1722 the name3686 of the Lord:2962 peace1515 in1722 heaven,3772 and2532 glory1391 in1722 the highest.5310

38 Saying, Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven and glory in the highest.

39 And2532 some5100 of the3588 Pharisees5330 from575 among the3588 multitude3793 said2036 unto4314 him,846 Master,1320 rebuke2008 thy4675 disciples.3101

39 But some of the men of the Pharisees who were in the multitude said to him, Teacher, rebuke your disciples.

40 And2532 he answered611 and said2036 unto them,846 I tell3004 you5213 that,3754 if1437 these3778 should hold their peace,4623 the3588 stones3037 would immediately cry out.2896

40 He said to them, I say to you, that if these should keep silent, the stones would cry out.

41 And2532 when5613 he was come near,1448 he beheld1492 the3588 city,4172 and wept2799 over1909 it,846

41 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it;

42 And he said, If you had only known those who are concerned in your peace, even in this your day! but now they are hidden from your eyes.

43 But the days will come to you, when your enemies will surround you, and oppress you from every place,

44 And will overthrow you, and your children within you; and they will not leave in you a stone upon a stone; because you did not know the time when you were to be visited.

45 And2532 he went1525 into1519 the3588 temple,2411 and began756 to cast out1544 them that sold4453 therein,1722 846 and2532 them that bought;59

45 And when he entered the temple, he began to put out those who were buying and selling in it;

46 Saying3004 unto them,846 It is written,1125 My3450 house3624 is2076 the house3624 of prayer: 4335 but1161 ye5210 have made4160 it846 a den4693 of thieves.3027

46 And he said to them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer; but you have made it a cave of bandits.

47 And he taught every day in the temple. But the high priests and the scribes and the elders of the people sought to get rid of him;

48 And2532 could not3756 find2147 what5101 they might do:4160 for1063 all537 the3588 people2992 were very attentive1582 to hear191 him.846

48 But they were not able to find what to do to him; for all the people hung around him to hear him.
