Luke

Chapter 23

1 And2532 the3588 whole537 multitude4128 of them846 arose,450 and led71 him846 unto1909 Pilate.4091

2 And1161 they began756 to accuse2723 him,846 saying,3004 We found2147 this5126 fellow perverting1294 the3588 nation,1484 and2532 forbidding2967 to give1325 tribute5411 to Caesar,2541 saying3004 that he himself1438 is1511 Christ5547 a King.935

3 And1161 Pilate4091 asked1905 him,846 saying,3004 Art1488 thou4771 the3588 King935 of the3588 Jews?2453 And1161 he3588 answered611 him846 and said,5346 Thou4771 sayest3004 it.

4 Then1161 said2036 Pilate4091 to4314 the3588 chief priests749 and2532 to the3588 people,3793 I find2147 no3762 fault158 in1722 this5129 man.444

5 And1161 they3588 were the more fierce,2001 saying,3004 He stirreth up383 the3588 people,2992 teaching1321 throughout2596 all3650 Jewry,2449 beginning756 from575 Galilee1056 to2193 this place.5602

6 When1161 Pilate4091 heard191 of Galilee,1056 he asked1905 whether1487 the3588 man444 were2076 a Galilaean.1057

7 And2532 as soon as he knew1921 that3754 he belonged unto2076 1537 Herod's2264 jurisdiction,1849 he sent375 him846 to4314 Herod,2264 who himself846 also2532 was5607 at1722 Jerusalem2414 at1722 that5025 time.2250

8 And1161 when Herod2264 saw1492 Jesus,2424 he was exceeding glad:5463 3029 for1063 he was2258 desirous2309 to see1492 him846 of1537 a long2425 season, because he had heard191 many things4183 of4012 him;846 and2532 he hoped1679 to have seen1492 some5100 miracle4592 done1096 by5259 him.846

9 Then1161 he questioned1905 with him846 in1722 many2425 words;3056 but1161 he846 answered611 him846 nothing.3762

10 And1161 the3588 chief priests749 and2532 scribes1122 stood2476 and vehemently2159 accused2723 him.846

11 And1161 Herod2264 with4862 his848 men of war4753 set him at naught,1848 846 and2532 mocked1702 him, and arrayed4016 him846 in a gorgeous2986 robe,2066 and sent him again375 846 to Pilate.4091

12 And1161 the same846 day2250 Pilate4091 and2532 Herod2264 were made1096 friends5384 together:3326 240 for1063 before4391 they were5607 at1722 enmity2189 between4314 themselves.1438

13 And1161 Pilate,4091 when he had called together4779 the3588 chief priests749 and2532 the3588 rulers758 and2532 the3588 people,2992

14 Said2036 unto4314 them,846 Ye have brought4374 this5126 man444 unto me,3427 as5613 one that perverteth654 the3588 people:2992 and,2532 behold,2400 I,1473 having examined350 him before1799 you,5216 have found2147 no3762 fault158 in1722 this5129 man444 touching those things whereof3739 ye accuse2723 him: 846

15 No,235 nor yet3761 Herod:2264 for1063 I sent375 you5209 to4314 him;846 and,2532 lo,2400 nothing3762 worthy514 of death2288 is2076 done4238 unto him.846

16 I will therefore3767 chastise3811 him,846 and release630 him.

17 (For1161 of necessity318 he must2192 release630 one1520 unto them846 at2596 the feast.)1859

18 And1161 they cried out349 all at once,3826 saying,3004 Away142 with this5126 man, and1161 release630 unto us2254 Barabbas: 912

19 (Who3748 for1223 a certain5100 sedition4714 made1096 in1722 the3588 city,4172 and2532 for murder,5408 was2258 cast906 into1519 prison.)5438

20 Pilate4091 therefore,3767 willing2309 to release630 Jesus,2424 spake again to them.4377 3825

21 But1161 they3588 cried,2019 saying,3004 Crucify4717 him, crucify4717 him.846

22 And1161 he3588 said2036 unto4314 them846 the third time,5154 Why,1063 what5101 evil2556 hath he3778 done?4160 I have found2147 no3762 cause158 of death2288 in1722 him:846 I will therefore3767 chastise3811 him,846 and2532 let him go.630

23 And1161 they3588 were instant1945 with loud3173 voices,5456 requiring154 that he846 might be crucified.4717 And2532 the3588 voices5456 of them846 and2532 of the3588 chief priests749 prevailed.2729

24 And1161 Pilate4091 gave sentence1948 that it should be1096 as they required.846 155

25 And1161 he released630 unto them846 him that for1223 sedition4714 and2532 murder5408 was cast906 into1519 prison,5438 whom3739 they had desired;154 but1161 he delivered3860 Jesus2424 to their846 will.2307

26 And2532 as5613 they led him away,520 846 they laid hold upon1949 one5100 Simon,4613 a Cyrenian,2956 coming2064 out of575 the country,68 and on him846 they laid2007 the3588 cross,4716 that he might bear5342 it after3693 Jesus.2424

27 And1161 there followed190 him846 a great4183 company4128 of people,2992 and2532 of women,1135 which3739 also2532 bewailed2875 and2532 lamented2354 him.846

28 But1161 Jesus2424 turning4762 unto4314 them846 said,2036 Daughters2364 of Jerusalem,2419 weep2799 not3361 for1909 me,1691 but4133 weep2799 for1909 yourselves,1438 and2532 for1909 your5216 children.5043

29 For,3754 behold,2400 the days2250 are coming,2064 in1722 the which3739 they shall say,2046 Blessed3107 are the3588 barren,4723 and2532 the wombs2836 that3739 never3756 bare,1080 and2532 the paps3149 which3739 never3756 gave suck.2337

30 Then5119 shall they begin756 to say3004 to the3588 mountains,3735 Fall4098 on1909 us;2248 and2532 to the3588 hills,1015 Cover2572 us.2248

31 For3754 if1487 they do4160 these things5023 in1722 a green5200 tree,3586 what5101 shall be done1096 in1722 the3588 dry?3584

32 And1161 there were also2532 two1417 other,2087 malefactors,2557 led71 with4862 him846 to be put to death.337

33 And2532 when3753 they were come565 to1909 the3588 place,5117 which is called2564 Calvary,2898 there1563 they crucified4717 him,846 and2532 the3588 malefactors,2557 one3739 3303 on1537 the right hand,1188 and1161 the other3739 on1537 the left.710

34 Then1161 said3004 Jesus,2424 Father,3962 forgive863 them;846 for1063 they know1492 not3756 what5101 they do.4160 And1161 they parted1266 his846 raiment,2440 and cast906 lots.2819

35 And2532 the3588 people2992 stood2476 beholding.2334 And1161 the3588 rulers758 also2532 with4862 them846 derided1592 him, saying,3004 He saved4982 others;243 let him save4982 himself,1438 if1487 he3778 be2076 Christ,5547 the3588 chosen1588 of God.2316

36 And1161 the3588 soldiers4757 also2532 mocked1702 him,846 coming to4334 him, and2532 offering4374 him846 vinegar,3690

37 And2532 saying,3004 If1487 thou4771 be1488 the3588 king935 of the3588 Jews,2453 save4982 thyself.4572

38 And1161 a superscription1923 also2532 was2258 written1125 over1909 him846 in letters1121 of Greek,1673 and2532 Latin,4513 and2532 Hebrew,1444 THIS3778 IS2076 THE3588 KING935 OF THE3588 JEWS.2453

39 And1161 one1520 of the3588 malefactors2557 which were hanged2910 railed on987 him,846 saying,3004 If1487 thou4771 be1488 Christ,5547 save4982 thyself4572 and2532 us.2248

40 But1161 the3588 other2087 answering611 rebuked2008 him,846 saying,3004 Dost not3761 thou4771 fear5399 God,2316 seeing3754 thou art1488 in1722 the3588 same846 condemnation?2917

41 And2532 we2249 indeed3303 justly;1346 for1063 we receive618 the due reward514 of our deeds:3739 4238 but1161 this man3778 hath done4238 nothing3762 amiss.824

42 And2532 he said3004 unto Jesus,2424 Lord,2962 remember3415 me3450 when3752 thou comest2064 into1722 thy4675 kingdom.932

43 And2532 Jesus2424 said2036 unto him,846 Verily281 I say3004 unto thee,4671 Today4594 shalt thou be2071 with3326 me1700 in1722 paradise.3857

44 And1161 it was2258 about5616 the sixth1623 hour,5610 and2532 there was1096 a darkness4655 over1909 all3650 the3588 earth1093 until2193 the ninth1766 hour.5610

45 And2532 the3588 sun2246 was darkened,4654 and2532 the3588 veil2665 of the3588 temple3485 was rent4977 in the midst.3319

46 And2532 when Jesus2424 had cried5455 with a loud3173 voice,5456 he said,2036 Father,3962 into1519 thy4675 hands5495 I commend3908 my3450 spirit: 4151 and2532 having said2036 thus,5023 he gave up the ghost.1606

47 Now1161 when the3588 centurion1543 saw1492 what was done,1096 he glorified1392 God,2316 saying,3004 Certainly3689 this3778 was2258 a righteous1342 man.444

48 And2532 all3956 the3588 people3793 that came together4836 to1909 that5026 sight,2335 beholding2334 the things which were done,1096 smote5180 their1438 breasts,4738 and returned.5290

49 And1161 all3956 his846 acquaintance,1110 and2532 the women1135 that followed4870 him846 from575 Galilee,1056 stood2476 afar off,3113 beholding3708 these things.5023

50 And,2532 behold,2400 there was a man435 named3686 Joseph,2501 a5225 counselor;1010 and he was a good18 man,435 and2532 a just: 1342

51 (The same3778 had2258 not3756 consented4784 to the3588 counsel1012 and2532 deed4234 of them;)846 he was of575 Arimathaea,707 a city4172 of the3588 Jews:2453 who3739 also2532 himself846 waited for4327 the3588 kingdom932 of God.2316

52 This3778 man went4334 unto Pilate,4091 and begged154 the3588 body4983 of Jesus.2424

53 And2532 he took it down,2507 846 and wrapped1794 it846 in linen,4616 and2532 laid5087 it846 in1722 a sepulcher3418 that was hewn in stone,2991 wherein3757 never man3762 3764 before3756 was2258 laid.2749

54 And2532 that day2250 was2258 the preparation,3904 and2532 the sabbath4521 drew on.2020

55 And1161 the women1135 also,2532 which3748 came with2258 4905 him846 from1537 Galilee,1056 followed after,2628 and beheld2300 the3588 sepulcher,3419 and2532 how5613 his846 body4983 was laid.5087

56 And1161 they returned,5290 and prepared2090 spices759 and2532 ointments;3464 and2532 rested2270 the3588 3303 sabbath day4521 according2596 to the3588 commandment.1785

Chapter 23

1 THEN the whole company of them rose up, and brought him to Pilate;

2 And began to accuse him, saying, We found this man misleading our people, and forbidding to pay the head-tax to Caesar; and he says concerning himself that he is a King, even the Christ.

3 Pilate asked him and said, Are you the king of the Jews? He said to him, You say that.

4 Then Pilate said to the high priests and the people, I cannot find any fault against this man.

5 But they shouted and said, He has stirred up our people, teaching throughout Judaea, and beginning from Galilee even to this place.

6 When Pilate heard the name Galilee, he asked if the man was a Galilean.

7 And when he knew that he was under the jurisdiction of Herod, he sent him to Herod, because he was in Jerusalem in those days.

8 When Herod saw Jesus he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things concerning him; and he hoped to see some miracle by him.

9 And he asked him many words; but Jesus gave him no answer.

10 But the high priests and the scribes stood, and accused him bitterly.

11 And Herod and his soldiers insulted him, and mocked him, and dressed him in a scarlet robe, and sent him to Pilate.

12 And that day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other; for there was a longstanding enmity between them.

13 Then Pilate called the high priests and the leaders of the people,

14 And he said to them, You brought me this man, as if he were misleading your people; and behold, I have examined him before your own eyes, and I have found no fault in this man concerning all that you accuse him.

15 Not even has Herod; for I sent him to him; and behold, he has done nothing worthy of death.

16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

17 For there was a custom to release to them one at the feast.

18 But all the people cried out saying, Get rid of him, and release to us Bar-Abbas;

19 Who because of sedition and murder which had happened in the city, was cast into prison.

20 Again Pilate spoke to them, desiring to release Jesus.

21 But they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

22 And he said to them the third time, What evil has he done? I have found nothing in him, worthy of death; I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

23 But they persisted with loud voices, and asked to crucify him. And their voice and that of the high priests prevailed.

24 Then Pilate commanded to have their request granted.

25 So he released to them the one who because of sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they asked for; and he delivered Jesus to their will.

26 And while they took him away, they laid hold of Simon, a Cyrenian, who was coming from the field, and they placed the end of the cross on him, to carry it with Jesus.

27 And many people followed him, and the women who were mourning and wailing over him.

28 But Jesus turned to them and said, O daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep over me; but weep over yourselves, and over your own children.

29 For behold, the days are coming, in which they will say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never gave birth, and the breasts that never gave suck.

30 Then they will begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

31 For if they do these things with the green wood, what will be done with dry wood?

32 And there were coming with him two others, malefactors, to be put to death.

33 And when they came to a place which is called The Skull, they crucified him there, and the malefactors, one on his right and one on his left.

34 And Jesus said, O Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. And they divided his garments and cast lots over them.

35 The people stood looking on. And even the leaders of the synagogue mocked him, and said, He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ, the chosen one of God.

36 And the soldiers ridiculed him, as they came near him and offered him vinegar,

37 Saying to him, If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.

38 There was also an inscription which was written over him, in Greek and Roman, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39 Now one of the malefactors who were crucified with him, blasphemed against him, saying, If you are the Christ, save yourself and save us also.

40 But the other rebuked him, and said to him, Do you not fear even God, for you are also in the same judgment?

41 And ours is just, for we are paid as we deserve and as we have done; but he has done nothing wrong.

42 And he said to Jesus, Remember me, my Lord, when you come in your kingdom.

43 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you today, you will be with me in Paradise. *

44 Now it was about the sixth hour, and darkness fell upon the whole earth, until the ninth hour.

45 And the sun was darkened, and the door curtains of the temple were torn in the center.

46 Then Jesus cried with a loud voice and said, O my Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit. He said this and passed away.

47 When the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God and said, Truly this was a righteous man.

48 And all the people who were gathered together to see this sight, when they saw what had happened, returned, beating their breasts.

49 And all the acquaintances of Jesus stood afar off, and the women who had come with him from Galilee, and they were beholding these things.

50 There was a man named Joseph the counsellor of Arimathaea, a city of Judaea, a good and righteous man.

51 He did not agree with their wishes and their actions; and he waited for the kingdom of God.

52 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

53 And he took it down and wrapped it in fine linen, and laid it in a hewn tomb, in which no one was ever laid.

54 This was a Friday, and the sabbath was approaching.

55 The women who had come with him from Galilee were near, and they saw the tomb, and how his body was laid.

56 And they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And on the sabbath they rested, as it is commanded.

1 And2532 the3588 whole537 multitude4128 of them846 arose,450 and led71 him846 unto1909 Pilate.4091

1 THEN the whole company of them rose up, and brought him to Pilate;

2 And began to accuse him, saying, We found this man misleading our people, and forbidding to pay the head-tax to Caesar; and he says concerning himself that he is a King, even the Christ.

3 And1161 Pilate4091 asked1905 him,846 saying,3004 Art1488 thou4771 the3588 King935 of the3588 Jews?2453 And1161 he3588 answered611 him846 and said,5346 Thou4771 sayest3004 it.

3 Pilate asked him and said, Are you the king of the Jews? He said to him, You say that.

4 Then1161 said2036 Pilate4091 to4314 the3588 chief priests749 and2532 to the3588 people,3793 I find2147 no3762 fault158 in1722 this5129 man.444

4 Then Pilate said to the high priests and the people, I cannot find any fault against this man.

5 And1161 they3588 were the more fierce,2001 saying,3004 He stirreth up383 the3588 people,2992 teaching1321 throughout2596 all3650 Jewry,2449 beginning756 from575 Galilee1056 to2193 this place.5602

5 But they shouted and said, He has stirred up our people, teaching throughout Judaea, and beginning from Galilee even to this place.

6 When1161 Pilate4091 heard191 of Galilee,1056 he asked1905 whether1487 the3588 man444 were2076 a Galilaean.1057

6 When Pilate heard the name Galilee, he asked if the man was a Galilean.

7 And when he knew that he was under the jurisdiction of Herod, he sent him to Herod, because he was in Jerusalem in those days.

8 When Herod saw Jesus he was exceedingly glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time, because he had heard many things concerning him; and he hoped to see some miracle by him.

9 Then1161 he questioned1905 with him846 in1722 many2425 words;3056 but1161 he846 answered611 him846 nothing.3762

9 And he asked him many words; but Jesus gave him no answer.

10 And1161 the3588 chief priests749 and2532 scribes1122 stood2476 and vehemently2159 accused2723 him.846

10 But the high priests and the scribes stood, and accused him bitterly.

11 And1161 Herod2264 with4862 his848 men of war4753 set him at naught,1848 846 and2532 mocked1702 him, and arrayed4016 him846 in a gorgeous2986 robe,2066 and sent him again375 846 to Pilate.4091

11 And Herod and his soldiers insulted him, and mocked him, and dressed him in a scarlet robe, and sent him to Pilate.

12 And1161 the same846 day2250 Pilate4091 and2532 Herod2264 were made1096 friends5384 together:3326 240 for1063 before4391 they were5607 at1722 enmity2189 between4314 themselves.1438

12 And that day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other; for there was a longstanding enmity between them.

13 And1161 Pilate,4091 when he had called together4779 the3588 chief priests749 and2532 the3588 rulers758 and2532 the3588 people,2992

13 Then Pilate called the high priests and the leaders of the people,

14 Said2036 unto4314 them,846 Ye have brought4374 this5126 man444 unto me,3427 as5613 one that perverteth654 the3588 people:2992 and,2532 behold,2400 I,1473 having examined350 him before1799 you,5216 have found2147 no3762 fault158 in1722 this5129 man444 touching those things whereof3739 ye accuse2723 him: 846

14 And he said to them, You brought me this man, as if he were misleading your people; and behold, I have examined him before your own eyes, and I have found no fault in this man concerning all that you accuse him.

15 No,235 nor yet3761 Herod:2264 for1063 I sent375 you5209 to4314 him;846 and,2532 lo,2400 nothing3762 worthy514 of death2288 is2076 done4238 unto him.846

15 Not even has Herod; for I sent him to him; and behold, he has done nothing worthy of death.

16 I will therefore3767 chastise3811 him,846 and release630 him.

16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

17 (For1161 of necessity318 he must2192 release630 one1520 unto them846 at2596 the feast.)1859

17 For there was a custom to release to them one at the feast.

18 And1161 they cried out349 all at once,3826 saying,3004 Away142 with this5126 man, and1161 release630 unto us2254 Barabbas: 912

18 But all the people cried out saying, Get rid of him, and release to us Bar-Abbas;

19 (Who3748 for1223 a certain5100 sedition4714 made1096 in1722 the3588 city,4172 and2532 for murder,5408 was2258 cast906 into1519 prison.)5438

19 Who because of sedition and murder which had happened in the city, was cast into prison.

20 Pilate4091 therefore,3767 willing2309 to release630 Jesus,2424 spake again to them.4377 3825

20 Again Pilate spoke to them, desiring to release Jesus.

21 But1161 they3588 cried,2019 saying,3004 Crucify4717 him, crucify4717 him.846

21 But they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

22 And he said to them the third time, What evil has he done? I have found nothing in him, worthy of death; I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

23 And1161 they3588 were instant1945 with loud3173 voices,5456 requiring154 that he846 might be crucified.4717 And2532 the3588 voices5456 of them846 and2532 of the3588 chief priests749 prevailed.2729

23 But they persisted with loud voices, and asked to crucify him. And their voice and that of the high priests prevailed.

24 And1161 Pilate4091 gave sentence1948 that it should be1096 as they required.846 155

24 Then Pilate commanded to have their request granted.

25 And1161 he released630 unto them846 him that for1223 sedition4714 and2532 murder5408 was cast906 into1519 prison,5438 whom3739 they had desired;154 but1161 he delivered3860 Jesus2424 to their846 will.2307

25 So he released to them the one who because of sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they asked for; and he delivered Jesus to their will.

26 And while they took him away, they laid hold of Simon, a Cyrenian, who was coming from the field, and they placed the end of the cross on him, to carry it with Jesus.

27 And1161 there followed190 him846 a great4183 company4128 of people,2992 and2532 of women,1135 which3739 also2532 bewailed2875 and2532 lamented2354 him.846

27 And many people followed him, and the women who were mourning and wailing over him.

28 But Jesus turned to them and said, O daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep over me; but weep over yourselves, and over your own children.

29 For behold, the days are coming, in which they will say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never gave birth, and the breasts that never gave suck.

30 Then5119 shall they begin756 to say3004 to the3588 mountains,3735 Fall4098 on1909 us;2248 and2532 to the3588 hills,1015 Cover2572 us.2248

30 Then they will begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

31 For3754 if1487 they do4160 these things5023 in1722 a green5200 tree,3586 what5101 shall be done1096 in1722 the3588 dry?3584

31 For if they do these things with the green wood, what will be done with dry wood?

32 And1161 there were also2532 two1417 other,2087 malefactors,2557 led71 with4862 him846 to be put to death.337

32 And there were coming with him two others, malefactors, to be put to death.

33 And when they came to a place which is called The Skull, they crucified him there, and the malefactors, one on his right and one on his left.

34 Then1161 said3004 Jesus,2424 Father,3962 forgive863 them;846 for1063 they know1492 not3756 what5101 they do.4160 And1161 they parted1266 his846 raiment,2440 and cast906 lots.2819

34 And Jesus said, O Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. And they divided his garments and cast lots over them.

35 The people stood looking on. And even the leaders of the synagogue mocked him, and said, He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ, the chosen one of God.

36 And1161 the3588 soldiers4757 also2532 mocked1702 him,846 coming to4334 him, and2532 offering4374 him846 vinegar,3690

36 And the soldiers ridiculed him, as they came near him and offered him vinegar,

37 And2532 saying,3004 If1487 thou4771 be1488 the3588 king935 of the3588 Jews,2453 save4982 thyself.4572

37 Saying to him, If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.

38 And1161 a superscription1923 also2532 was2258 written1125 over1909 him846 in letters1121 of Greek,1673 and2532 Latin,4513 and2532 Hebrew,1444 THIS3778 IS2076 THE3588 KING935 OF THE3588 JEWS.2453

38 There was also an inscription which was written over him, in Greek and Roman, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39 And1161 one1520 of the3588 malefactors2557 which were hanged2910 railed on987 him,846 saying,3004 If1487 thou4771 be1488 Christ,5547 save4982 thyself4572 and2532 us.2248

39 Now one of the malefactors who were crucified with him, blasphemed against him, saying, If you are the Christ, save yourself and save us also.

40 But1161 the3588 other2087 answering611 rebuked2008 him,846 saying,3004 Dost not3761 thou4771 fear5399 God,2316 seeing3754 thou art1488 in1722 the3588 same846 condemnation?2917

40 But the other rebuked him, and said to him, Do you not fear even God, for you are also in the same judgment?

41 And2532 we2249 indeed3303 justly;1346 for1063 we receive618 the due reward514 of our deeds:3739 4238 but1161 this man3778 hath done4238 nothing3762 amiss.824

41 And ours is just, for we are paid as we deserve and as we have done; but he has done nothing wrong.

42 And2532 he said3004 unto Jesus,2424 Lord,2962 remember3415 me3450 when3752 thou comest2064 into1722 thy4675 kingdom.932

42 And he said to Jesus, Remember me, my Lord, when you come in your kingdom.

43 And2532 Jesus2424 said2036 unto him,846 Verily281 I say3004 unto thee,4671 Today4594 shalt thou be2071 with3326 me1700 in1722 paradise.3857

43 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you today, you will be with me in Paradise. *

44 And1161 it was2258 about5616 the sixth1623 hour,5610 and2532 there was1096 a darkness4655 over1909 all3650 the3588 earth1093 until2193 the ninth1766 hour.5610

44 Now it was about the sixth hour, and darkness fell upon the whole earth, until the ninth hour.

45 And2532 the3588 sun2246 was darkened,4654 and2532 the3588 veil2665 of the3588 temple3485 was rent4977 in the midst.3319

45 And the sun was darkened, and the door curtains of the temple were torn in the center.

46 Then Jesus cried with a loud voice and said, O my Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit. He said this and passed away.

47 Now1161 when the3588 centurion1543 saw1492 what was done,1096 he glorified1392 God,2316 saying,3004 Certainly3689 this3778 was2258 a righteous1342 man.444

47 When the centurion saw what had happened, he praised God and said, Truly this was a righteous man.

48 And2532 all3956 the3588 people3793 that came together4836 to1909 that5026 sight,2335 beholding2334 the things which were done,1096 smote5180 their1438 breasts,4738 and returned.5290

48 And all the people who were gathered together to see this sight, when they saw what had happened, returned, beating their breasts.

49 And1161 all3956 his846 acquaintance,1110 and2532 the women1135 that followed4870 him846 from575 Galilee,1056 stood2476 afar off,3113 beholding3708 these things.5023

49 And all the acquaintances of Jesus stood afar off, and the women who had come with him from Galilee, and they were beholding these things.

50 And,2532 behold,2400 there was a man435 named3686 Joseph,2501 a5225 counselor;1010 and he was a good18 man,435 and2532 a just: 1342

50 There was a man named Joseph the counsellor of Arimathaea, a city of Judaea, a good and righteous man.

51 He did not agree with their wishes and their actions; and he waited for the kingdom of God.

52 This3778 man went4334 unto Pilate,4091 and begged154 the3588 body4983 of Jesus.2424

52 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

53 And2532 he took it down,2507 846 and wrapped1794 it846 in linen,4616 and2532 laid5087 it846 in1722 a sepulcher3418 that was hewn in stone,2991 wherein3757 never man3762 3764 before3756 was2258 laid.2749

53 And he took it down and wrapped it in fine linen, and laid it in a hewn tomb, in which no one was ever laid.

54 And2532 that day2250 was2258 the preparation,3904 and2532 the sabbath4521 drew on.2020

54 This was a Friday, and the sabbath was approaching.

55 And1161 the women1135 also,2532 which3748 came with2258 4905 him846 from1537 Galilee,1056 followed after,2628 and beheld2300 the3588 sepulcher,3419 and2532 how5613 his846 body4983 was laid.5087

55 The women who had come with him from Galilee were near, and they saw the tomb, and how his body was laid.

56 And1161 they returned,5290 and prepared2090 spices759 and2532 ointments;3464 and2532 rested2270 the3588 3303 sabbath day4521 according2596 to the3588 commandment.1785

56 And they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And on the sabbath they rested, as it is commanded.
