Chapter 28

1 Surely3588 there is3426 a vein4161 for the silver,3701 and a place4725 for gold2091 where they fine2212 it.

2 Iron1270 is taken3947 out of the earth,4480 6083 and brass5154 is molten6694 out of the stone.68

3 He setteth7760 an end7093 to darkness,2822 and searcheth out2713 1931 all3605 perfection:8503 the stones68 of darkness,652 and the shadow of death.6757

4 The flood5158 breaketh out6555 from4480 5973 the inhabitant;1481 even the waters forgotten7911 of4480 the foot:7272 they are dried up,1809 they are gone away5128 from men.4480 582

5 As for the earth,776 out of4480 it cometh3318 bread:3899 and under8478 it is turned up2015 as it were3644 fire.784

6 The stones68 of it are the place4725 of sapphires:5601 and it hath dust6083 of gold.2091

15 It cannot3808 be gotten5414 for gold,2091 5462 8478 neither3808 shall silver3701 be weighed8254 for the price4242 thereof.

16 It cannot3808 be valued5541 with the gold3800 of Ophir,211 with the precious3368 onyx,7718 or the sapphire.5601

17 The gold2091 and the crystal2137 cannot3808 equal6186 it: and the exchange8545 of it shall not be for jewels3627 of fine gold.6337

18 No3808 mention shall be made2142 of coral,7215 or of pearls:1378 for the price4901 of wisdom2451 is above rubies.4480 6443

19 The topaz6357 of Ethiopia3568 shall not3808 equal6186 it, neither3808 shall it be valued5541 with pure2889 gold.3800

22 Destruction11 and death4194 say,559 We have heard8085 the fame8088 thereof with our ears.241

23 God430 understandeth995 the way1870 thereof, and he1931 knoweth3045 853 the place4725 thereof.

2 Железо извлекают из земли и медь из руды выплавляют.

3 Тьме кладет границу человек, ищет руду в глубинах земли, в мраке кромешном.

4 Роет шахты вдали от мест обитаемых, там, где нога не ступала, вдали от людей висит, качаясь, в забое.

5 Земля, из которой родится хлеб, внутри словно огнем оплавлена.

6 Камни ее — месторождения сапфиров, и в ней же — золотой песок.

7 Дороги туда не знает и хищная птица, глаз соколиный ее не видывал.

8 Не ходили по ней гордые звери, лев по ней не ступал.

9 А человек к граниту прикладывает руку, переворачивает горы до основания.

10 В скалах прорубает штольни, все драгоценности открываются его взору.

11 Запирает он глубины рек и сокрытое выносит на свет.

12 Но мудрость — где ее добывают? Где они, месторождения разума?

13 Не знает человек к ней дороги, на земле живых ее не отыщешь.

14 Бездна сказала: „Не во мне она“, море сказало: „Не у меня“.

15 Не добудешь ее, чистым золотом расплатившись, не купишь ее, отвесив серебра,

16 не приобретешь за лучшее золото из Офира, за драгоценный оникс с сапфиром.

17 Дороже золота она и кристаллов, не выменять ее на золотой сосуд.

18 Кораллы и яшма с ней не сравнятся, ценнее мудрость, чем жемчуга,

19 дороже она топазов из Куша, и за лучшее золото ее не купишь.

20 Откуда же исходит мудрость? Где они, месторождения разума?

21 Скрыта она от глаз всего живого, от птиц небесных спрятана.

22 Скажут о ней Аваддон и Смерть: „Мы слышали о ней лишь краем уха“.

23 Бог знает дорогу к ней, Он ведает, где она обитает.

24 Ведь взор Его пределов земли достигает, всё, что под небом, Он видит.

25 Когда Он наделял силой ветер, когда водам меру давал,

26 когда для дождя устанавливал закон и путь — для молнии с громом,

27 тогда перед взором Его была мудрость, Он исчислил ее, утвердил, испытал.

28 И сказал человеку: „Благоговение пред Владыкой — вот мудрость, сторониться зла — в этом разум!“»
