24 Trouble6862 and anguish4691 shall make him afraid;1204 they shall prevail against8630 him, as a king4428 ready6264 to the battle.3593

34 For3588 the congregation5712 of hypocrites2611 shall be desolate,1565 and fire784 shall consume398 the tabernacles168 of bribery.7810

1 И начал Елифаз Феманитянин, и сказал:

2 Прилично ли мудрому отпущать в ответ мнения ветреные, и иметь чрево, наполненное восточным ветром,

3 Доказывая свое такою речью, от которой нет пользы, и такими словами, от которых нет помощи?

4 Притом же ты потерял страх, и за малость считаешь речь пред Богом.

5 Так! уста твои проповедуют вину твою, и ты избрал язык лукавых.

6 Твои уста обвиняют тебя, а не я; и твой язык свидетельствует против тебя.

7 Разве ты первый из человеков родился, и прежде холмов произведен?

8 Разве ты слышал тайный совет Божий, и привлек к себе премудрость?

9 Что знаешь ты, чего бы не знали мы? что разумеешь ты, чего не было бы у нас?

10 И седовласый и старец есть между нами, днями превышающий отца твоего.

11 Разве малость для тебя утешения Божии, и слово, обращающееся с тобою кротко?

12 Что увлекает тебя сердце твое, и что так дерзки глаза твои?

13 Ибо все снова устремляешься против Бога духом своим, и произносишь слова из уст своих.

14 Что такое человек, чтобы ему быть чистым, и чтобы праведным быть рожденному женщиною?

15 Се! Он святым не доверяет, и небеса нечисты в очах Его;

16 Кольми паче гнусный и растленный, человек, пьющий беззаконие, как воду.

17 Я покажу тебе, послушай меня, и что я видел, то расскажу тебе,

18 Что мудрые возвестили, и не сокрыли, как от отцев своих.

19 (Им одним земля предана была, и чужой не ходил среди их.)

20 `Нечестивый сам себя мучит во все дни свои, и число лет закрыто от беззаконника.

21 Глас ужасов в ушах его; среди мира гремит, что губитель идет на него.

22 Он не надеется спастись от тьмы; он и предусмотрен для меча.

23 Он скитается за куском хлеба: где взять? знает, что готов уже, в руках у него - день тьмы.

24 Вдруг устрашает его нужда и теснота; одолевает его, как царь хорошо снарядившийся для нападения в брани.

25 За то, что он простирал против Бога руку свою, и хотел показать себя крепким против Вседержителя;

26 Устремлялся против Него с гордою выею, под густыми рядами и хребтами щитов своих.

27 Так! он покрыл лице свое жиром своим, и чресла обложил туком,

28 И селится в городах разоренных, в домах, в которых не живут, которые были предназначены оставаться развалинами.

29 Не пребудет богатым, и сила его не устоит, и не распрострется по земле приобретение его.

30 Не уклонится от тьмы; отрасли его иссушит пламя, и будет он увлечен дуновением уст Его.

31 Пусть человек не верует в суету, он обманется: ибо суета будет и мздою его.

32 Не в свой день скончается, и перестанет зеленеть ветвь его.

33 Сбросит, как виноградная лоза, недозрелую ягоду свою, и уронит, как маслина, цвет свой.

34 Так! дом нечестивого будет бесплоден, и огонь пожрет шатры мздоимства.

35 Он зачал скорбь, и разродится суетою, и утроба их приготовляет обман`.

23 Он скитается за куском хлеба: где взять? знает, что готов уже, в руках у него - день тьмы.

24 Вдруг устрашает его нужда и теснота; одолевает его, как царь хорошо снарядившийся для нападения в брани.

25 За то, что он простирал против Бога руку свою, и хотел показать себя крепким против Вседержителя;

29 Не пребудет богатым, и сила его не устоит, и не распрострется по земле приобретение его.

30 Не уклонится от тьмы; отрасли его иссушит пламя, и будет он увлечен дуновением уст Его.
