Chapter 26

Then1161 Agrippa67 said5346 unto4314 Paul,3972 Thou4671 art permitted2010 to speak3004 for5228 thyself.4572 Then5119 Paul3972 stretched forth1614 the3588 hand,5495 and answered for himself: 626

I think2233 myself1683 happy,3107 king935 Agrippa,67 because I shall3195 answer for myself626 this day4594 before1909 thee4675 touching4012 all3956 the things whereof3739 I am accused1458 of5259 the Jews: 2453

Especially3122 because I know1492 thee4571 to be5607 expert1109 in all3956 customs1485 and5037 2532 questions2213 which are among2596 the Jews:2453 wherefore1352 I beseech1189 thee4675 to hear191 me3450 patiently.3116

My3450 manner of life981 3303 3767 from1537 my youth,3503 which was1096 at575 the first746 among1722 mine own3450 nation1484 at1722 Jerusalem,2414 know2467 all3956 the3588 Jews;2453

Which knew4267 me3165 from the beginning,509 if1437 they would2309 testify,3140 that3754 after2596 the3588 most straitest196 sect139 of our2251 religion2356 I lived2198 a Pharisee.5330

And2532 now3568 I stand2476 and am judged2919 for1909 the hope1680 of the3588 promise1860 made1096 of5259 God2316 unto4314 our fathers: 3962

Unto1519 which3739 promise our2257 twelve tribes,1429 instantly1722 1616 serving3000 God day2250 and2532 night,3571 hope1679 to come.2658 For4012 which3739 hope's1680 sake, king935 Agrippa,67 I am accused1458 of5259 the3588 Jews.2453

Why5101 should it be thought2919 a thing incredible571 with3844 you,5213 that1487 God2316 should raise1453 the dead?3498

I1473 verily3303 3767 thought1380 with myself,1683 that I ought1163 to do4238 many things4183 contrary1727 to4314 the3588 name3686 of Jesus2424 of Nazareth.3480

Which thing3739 I also2532 did4160 in1722 Jerusalem:2414 and2532 many4183 of the3588 saints40 did I1473 shut up2623 in prison,5438 having received2983 authority1849 from3844 the3588 chief priests;749 and5037 when they846 were put to death,337 I gave my voice against2702 5586 them.

And2532 I punished5097 them846 oft4178 in every2596 3956 synagogue,4864 and compelled315 them to blaspheme;987 and5037 being exceedingly mad against1693 4057 them,846 I persecuted1377 them even2193 2532 unto1519 strange1854 cities.4172

Whereupon1722 3739 as2532 I went4198 to1519 Damascus1154 with3326 authority1849 and2532 commission2011 from3844 the3588 chief priests,749

At midday,3319 2250 O king,935 I1492 saw in2596 the3588 way3598 a light5457 from heaven,3771 above5228 the3588 brightness2987 of the3588 sun,2246 shining round about4034 me3165 and2532 them which journeyed4198 with4862 me.1698

And1161 when we2257 were all3956 fallen2667 to1519 the3588 earth,1093 I heard191 a voice5456 speaking2980 unto4314 me,3165 and2532 saying3004 in the3588 Hebrew1446 tongue,1258 Saul,4549 Saul,4549 why5101 persecutest1377 thou me?3165 it is hard4642 for thee4671 to kick2979 against4314 the pricks.2759

And1161 I1473 said,2036 Who5101 art1488 thou, Lord?2962 And1161 he3588 said,2036 I1473 am1510 Jesus2424 whom3739 thou4771 persecutest.1377

But235 rise,450 and2532 stand2476 upon1909 thy4675 feet: 4228 for1063 I have appeared3700 unto thee4671 for1519 this5124 purpose, to make4400 thee4571 a minister5257 and2532 a witness3144 both5037 of these things which3739 thou hast seen,1492 and5037 of those things in the which3739 I will appear3700 unto thee;4671

Delivering1807 thee4571 from1537 the3588 people,2992 and2532 from the3588 Gentiles,1484 unto1519 whom3739 now3568 I send649 thee,4571

To open455 their846 eyes,3788 and to turn1994 them from575 darkness4655 to1519 light,5457 and2532 from the3588 power1849 of Satan4567 unto1909 God,2316 that3588 they846 may receive2983 forgiveness859 of sins,266 and2532 inheritance2819 among1722 them3588 which are sanctified37 by faith4102 that3588 is in1519 me.1691

Whereupon,3606 O king935 Agrippa,67 I was1096 not3756 disobedient545 unto the3588 heavenly3770 vision: 3701

But235 showed518 first4412 unto them3588 of1722 Damascus,1154 and2532 at Jerusalem,2414 and5037 throughout1519 all3956 the3588 coasts5561 of Judea,2449 and2532 then to the3588 Gentiles,1484 that they should repent3340 and2532 turn1994 to1909 God,2316 and do4238 works2041 meet514 for repentance.3341

For these causes1752 5130 the3588 Jews2453 caught4815 me3165 in1722 the3588 temple,2411 and went about3987 to kill1315 me.

Having therefore3767 obtained5177 help1947 of3844 God,2316 I continue2476 unto891 this5026 day,2250 witnessing3140 both5037 to small3398 and2532 great,3173 saying3004 none3762 other things1622 than those which3739 5037 the3588 prophets4396 and2532 Moses3475 did say2980 should3195 come: 1096

That1487 Christ5547 should suffer,3805 and that1487 he should be the first4413 that should rise1537 386 from the dead,3498 and should3195 show2605 light5457 unto the3588 people,2992 and2532 to the3588 Gentiles.1484

And1161 as he846 thus5023 spake for himself,626 Festus5347 said5346 with a loud3173 voice,5456 Paul,3972 thou art beside thyself;3105 much4183 learning1121 doth make4062 thee4571 mad.3130

But1161 he3588 said,5346 I am not mad,3105 3756 most noble2903 Festus;5347 but235 I speak forth669 the words4487 of truth225 and2532 soberness.4997

For1063 the3588 king935 knoweth1987 of4012 these things,5130 before4314 whom3739 also2532 I speak2980 freely:3955 for1063 I am persuaded3982 that none3756 5100 of these things5130 are hidden2990 from him;846 for1063 this thing5124 was2076 not3756 done4238 in1722 a corner.1137

King935 Agrippa,67 believest4100 thou the3588 prophets?4396 I know1492 that3754 thou believest.4100

Then1161 Agrippa67 said5346 unto4314 Paul,3972 Almost1722 3641 thou persuadest3982 me3165 to be1096 a Christian.5546

And1161 Paul3972 said,2036 I would2172 302 to God,2316 that not3756 only3440 thou,4571 but235 also2532 all3956 that hear191 me3450 this day,4594 were1096 both2532 almost,1722 3641 and2532 altogether1722 4183 such5108 as3697 I2504 am,1510 except3924 these5130 bonds.1199

And2532 when he846 had thus5023 spoken,2036 the3588 king935 rose up,450 and2532 the3588 governor,2232 and5037 Bernice,959 and2532 they that sat with4775 them: 846

And2532 when they were gone aside,402 they talked2980 between themselves,4314 240 saying,3004 This3778 man444 doeth4238 nothing3762 worthy514 of death2288 or2228 of bonds.1199

Then1161 said5346 Agrippa67 unto Festus,5347 This3778 man444 might1410 have been set at liberty,630 if1487 he had not3361 appealed1941 unto Caesar.2541
