Chapter 2

1 NOW therefore, O priests, this commandment is for you.

2 If you will not obey, and if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to my name, says the LORD of hosts, I will send curses upon you, and I will curse your blessings because you have not laid it to your heart.

3 Behold, I will rebuke the seed of the ground, and spread dung upon your faces, even dung upon your solemn feasts; and I will cause you to be taken away with it.

4 And you shall know that I have sent this commandment to you, that my covenant might be with Levi, says the LORD of hosts.

5 My covenant was with him, and I gave him life and peace; and as for fear, he feared me and trembled before my name.

6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips; he walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he did turn many away from iniquity.

7 For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, because men seek the law from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

8 But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble at the law; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of hosts.

9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and humiliated before all the people, because you have not kept the ordinances, but have been partial in the law.

10 Have we not all one father? Or has not one God created us? Why then do we deal treacherously every man against his brother by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

11 Judah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has defiled the sanctuary of the LORD of hosts and has loved and served foreign gods.

12 The LORD will destroy the man who does this, and also his son and his son's son out of the tabernacle of Jacob; and he shall have none to present the offering to the LORD of hosts.

13 And this is another thing that you have done: you have covered the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with groaning, because he does not regard your offering any more or accept it with good will at your hands.

14 And if you say, For what reason? Because the LORD was witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously though she is your companion and the wife of your covenant.

15 Did not he make them one? And the rest of the spirits are his also. And therefore a man seeks one offspring from God. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, says that no one should conceal the iniquity in his robe; therefore take heed to your spirit, and do not deal treacherously.

17 You have wearied the LORD with your words. And if you say, In what have we wearied him? In that you say, Every one who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delights in such; or, Where is the God who judges righteous judgments?

3 Вот, Я отниму1605 у вас плечо,2233 и помет6569 раскидаю2219 на5921 лица6440 ваши, помет6569 праздничных2282 жертв2282 ваших, и выбросят5375 вас вместе с ним.

4 И вы узнаете,3045 что Я дал7971 эту заповедь4687 для сохранения завета1285 Моего с Левием,3878 говорит559 Господь3068 Саваоф.6635

5 Завет1285 Мой с ним был завет жизни2416 и мира,7965 и Я дал5414 его ему для страха,4172 и он боялся3372 Меня и благоговел2865 пред6440 именем8034 Моим.

6 Закон8451 истины571 был в устах6310 его, и неправды5766 не обреталось4672 на языке8193 его; в мире7965 и правде4334 он ходил1980 со Мною и многих7227 отвратил7725 от греха.5771

7 Ибо уста8193 священника3548 должны8104 хранить8104 ведение,1847 и закона8451 ищут1245 от уст6310 его, потому что он вестник4397 Господа3068 Саваофа.6635

8 Но вы уклонились5493 от пути1870 сего, для многих7227 послужили3782 соблазном3782 в законе,8451 разрушили7843 завет1285 Левия,3878 говорит559 Господь3068 Саваоф.6635

9 За то и Я сделаю5414 вас презренными959 и униженными8217 перед всем народом,5971 так как вы не соблюдаете8104 путей1870 Моих, лицеприятствуете53756440 в делах закона.8451

10 Не один259 ли у всех нас Отец?1 Не один259 ли Бог410 сотворил1254 нас? Почему же мы вероломно898 поступаем898 друг376 против друга,251 нарушая2490 тем завет1285 отцов1 наших?

11 Вероломно898 поступает898 Иуда,3063 и мерзость8441 совершается6213 в Израиле3478 и в Иерусалиме;3389 ибо унизил2490 Иуда3063 святыню6944 Господню,3068 которую любил,157 и женился1166 на дочери1323 чужого5236 бога.410

12 У того, кто376 делает6213 это, истребит3772 Господь3068 из шатров168 Иаковлевых3290 бдящего5782 на5782 страже5782 и отвечающего,6030 и приносящего5066 жертву4503 Господу3068 Саваофу.6635

13 И вот еще8145 что вы делаете:6213 вы заставляете3680 обливать3680 слезами1832 жертвенник4196 Господа3068 с рыданием1065 и воплем,603 так что Он уже не призирает6437 более на приношение4503 и не принимает3947 умилоствительной7522 жертвы из рук3027 ваших.

14 Вы скажете:559 «за4100 что?4100» За то, что Господь3068 был5749 свидетелем5749 между тобою и женою802 юности5271 твоей, против которой ты поступил898 вероломно,898 между тем как она подруга2278 твоя и законная1285 жена802 твоя.

15 Но не сделал6213 ли того же один,259 и в нем пребывал превосходный7605 дух?7307 что же сделал этот один?259 он желал1245 получить1245 от Бога430 потомство.2233 Итак берегите8104 дух7307 ваш, и никто не поступай898 вероломно898 против жены802 юности5271 своей.

16 Если ты ненавидишь8130 ее, отпусти,7971 говорит559 Господь3068 Бог430 Израилев;3478 обида2555 покроет3680 одежду3830 его, говорит559 Господь3068 Саваоф;6635 посему наблюдайте8104 за духом7307 вашим и не поступайте898 вероломно.898

17 Вы прогневляете3021 Господа3068 словами1697 вашими и говорите:559 «чем прогневляем3021 мы Его?» Тем, что говорите:559 «всякий, делающий6213 зло,7451 хорош2896 пред очами5869 Господа,3068 и к таким Он благоволит»,2654 или: «где Бог430 правосудия?4941»

10 Have we not all one father? Or has not one God created us? Why then do we deal treacherously every man against his brother by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

11 Judah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has defiled the sanctuary of the LORD of hosts and has loved and served foreign gods.

11 Вероломно898 поступает898 Иуда,3063 и мерзость8441 совершается6213 в Израиле3478 и в Иерусалиме;3389 ибо унизил2490 Иуда3063 святыню6944 Господню,3068 которую любил,157 и женился1166 на дочери1323 чужого5236 бога.410

14 And if you say, For what reason? Because the LORD was witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously though she is your companion and the wife of your covenant.
