1 AND King Akhshirash laid a tribute upon the whole land and upon the Islands of the sea. |

2 And all the acts of his power and of his might and the glory of the greatness of Mordecai unto which the king promoted him, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia. |
|
3 For Mordecai the Jew was next to King Akhshirash and became the chief over the Jews, and he sought the good of his people and spoke on behalf of all his race. |

2 А ввесь чин його сили та його лица́рских діл, і вира́зний о́пис вели́чности Мордеха́я, що звели́чив його цар, — ось вони опи́сані в Книзі Хронік царів мідійських та перських. |

3 Бо юде́янин Мордеха́й був другий по царі Ахашверо́ші, і великий для юдеїв, і милий для багатьох братів своїх, який шукав добра для наро́ду свого й говорив „мир!“ для всіх наща́дків своїх. |
