Chapter 3

1 Put5279 them in mind5279 to be subject5293 to principalities746 and powers,1849 to obey3980 magistrates,3980 to be ready2092 to every3956 good18 work,2041

2 To speak987 evil987 of no3367 man,3367 to be no269 brawlers,269 but gentle,1933 showing1731 all3956 meekness4236 to all3956 men.444

3 For we ourselves2249 also2532 were sometimes4218 foolish,453 disobedient,545 deceived,4105 serving1398 divers4164 lusts1939 and pleasures,2237 living1236 in malice2549 and envy,5355 hateful,4767 and hating3404 one240 another.240

4 But after3753 that the kindness5544 and love5363 of God2316 our Savior4990 toward man appeared,2014

5 Not by works2041 of righteousness1343 which3739 we have done,4160 but according2596 to his mercy1656 he saved4982 us, by the washing3067 of regeneration,3824 and renewing342 of the Holy40 Ghost;4151

6 Which3739 he shed1632 on1909 us abundantly4146 through1223 Jesus2424 Christ5547 our Savior;4990

7 That being justified1344 by his grace,5485 we should be made1096 heirs2818 according2596 to the hope1680 of eternal166 life.2222

8 This3588 is a faithful4103 saying,3056 and these5130 things I will1014 that you affirm1226 constantly,1226 that they which have believed4100 in God2316 might be careful5431 to maintain4291 good2570 works.2041 These5023 things are good2570 and profitable5624 to men.444

9 But avoid4026 foolish3474 questions,2214 and genealogies,1076 and contentions,2054 and strivings3163 about3163 the law;3544 for they are unprofitable512 and vain.3152

10 A man444 that is an heretic141 after3326 the first3391 and second1208 admonition3559 reject;3868

11 Knowing1492 that he that is such5108 is subverted,1612 and sins,264 being5607 condemned843 of himself.848

12 When3752 I shall send3992 Artemas734 to you, or2228 Tychicus,5190 be diligent4704 to come2064 to me to Nicopolis:3533 for I have determined2919 there1563 to winter.3914

13 Bring4311 Zenas2211 the lawyer3544 and Apollos625 on their journey diligently,4709 that nothing3367 be wanting3007 to them.

14 And let our's2251 also2532 learn3129 to maintain4291 good2570 works2041 for necessary316 uses,5532 that they be not unfruitful.175

15 All3956 that are with me salute782 you. Greet782 them that love5368 us in the faith.4102 Grace5485 be with you all.3956 Amen.281 It was written to Titus, ordained the first bishop of the church of the Cretians, from Nicopolis of Macedonia.

Chapter 3

1 REMIND all to be obedient and submissive to princes and governors, and to be ready for every good work,

2 And not to speak evil against any man, and not to be quarrelsome, but to be meek, in every respect showing gentleness to all men.

3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, misled, and serving divers lusts and passions, living in malice and envy, hated, and also hating one another.

4 But after the goodness and kindness of God our Saviour was manifested,

5 Not so much by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit;

6 Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,

7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs to the hope of eternal life.

8 This is a true saying, and these things I want you to constantly affirm, so that those who believe in God may be careful to continually do good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and the theological arguments of the scribes, for they are unprofitable and vain.

10 After you have admonished the heretic once or twice shun him;

11 Knowing that he who is such is corrupt; he sins and condemns himself.

12 When I send Ar'te-mas or Tych'i-cus to you, endeavor to come to me at Ni-cop'olis: for I have decided to winter there.

13 See that Ze'nas, the scribe, and A-pol'los are given a good farewell on their journey, that they lack nothing.

14 And let our people be taught to do good works in times of emergency, that they be not unfruitful.

15 All who are with me salute you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
