Chapter 12

1 And Job347 answered6030 and said,559

2 No551 doubt551 but you are the people,5971 and wisdom2451 shall die4191 with you.

3 But I have understanding3824 as well1571 as you; I am1961 not inferior5307 to you: yes, who4310 knows854 not such3644 things as these?428

4 I am as one mocked7832 of his neighbor,7453 who calls7121 on God,433 and he answers6030 him: the just6662 upright8549 man is laughed7832 to scorn.

5 He that is ready3559 to slip4571 with his feet7272 is as a lamp3940 despised937 in the thought6248 of him that is at ease.7600

6 The tabernacles168 of robbers7703 prosper,7951 and they that provoke7264 God410 are secure;987 into whose834 hand3027 God433 brings935 abundantly.

7 But ask7592 now4994 the beasts,929 and they shall teach3384 you; and the fowls5775 of the air,8064 and they shall tell5046 you:

8 Or176 speak7878 to the earth,776 and it shall teach3384 you: and the fishes1709 of the sea3220 shall declare5608 to you.

9 Who4310 knows3045 not in all3605 these428 that the hand3027 of the LORD3068 has worked6213 this?2063

10 In whose834 hand3027 is the soul5315 of every3605 living2416 thing, and the breath7307 of all3605 mankind.1320 376

14 Behold,2005 he breaks2040 down,2040 and it cannot3808 be built1129 again: he shuts5462 up a man,376 and there can be no3808 opening.6605

15 Behold,2005 he withholds6113 the waters,4325 and they dry3001 up: also he sends7971 them out, and they overturn2015 the earth.776

16 With him is strength5797 and wisdom:8454 the deceived7683 and the deceiver7686 are his.

17 He leads3212 counsellors3289 away spoiled,7758 and makes the judges8199 fools.1984

18 He looses6605 the bond4148 of kings,4428 and girds631 their loins4975 with a girdle.232

19 He leads3212 princes3548 away spoiled,7758 and overthrows5557 the mighty.386

20 He removes5493 away the speech8193 of the trusty,539 and takes3947 away the understanding2940 of the aged.2205

21 He pours8210 contempt937 on princes,5081 and weakens7503 the strength4206 of the mighty.650

1 И ответил Иов и сказал:

2 «Верно, вы и есть те мудрые люди, и мудрость умрет вместе с вами!

3 Но и у меня есть разум, как у вас, и ничем я вас не хуже. Да и кто всего этого не знает?

4 Стал посмешищем я для моих друзей, говорят они: „Вот он к Богу взывает, и Тот ему отвечает… Праведник непорочный — посмешище!“

5 Кто благоденствует, несчастье презирает, думает: „Уготовано оно для слабых“.

6 Шатры грабителей процветают, те, кто Бога гневят, живут в безопасности, будто Бога носят в своих ладонях.

7 Спроси у животных — они научат тебя, птицы небесные тебе поведают!

8 Побеседуй с землей — и она наставит тебя, рыбы морские тебе расскажут!

9 Кто же не знает, что рука ГОСПОДА сотворила всё это?

10 Что в Его руке жизнь любого существа и дыхание всякого смертного?

11 Разве не ухо различает слова, разве не язык вкус распознает?

12 Так и мудрость — у старцев ли она, найдешь ли разум среди убеленных сединами?

13 У Него — и мудрость, и могущество, у Него и совет, и разум.

14 Что Он разрушит, того не отстроить, кого Он заключит в темницу, не освободиться тому.

15 Затворит Он воды в небесах — засуха настанет, отпустит их — затопят землю.

16 С Ним сила и здравомыслие, в Его власти — обманутый и обманщик.

17 Советников Он лишает разума и судей выставляет глупцами.

18 С царей он снимает пояс и покрывает их бедра рубищем.

19 Священников Он лишает разума, несокрушимых повергает наземь.

20 Речь отнимает у тех, кто в почете, и старцев лишает здравомыслия.

21 Знатных Он позору предает и обезоруживает могучих.

22 Открывает Он сокрытое во тьме глубокой и на свет выводит смертную тень.

23 Возвеличивает Он народы и губит их, собирает их и рассеивает.

24 Отнимает разум у правителей земных народов, блуждать заставляет в пустыне, где дороги нет.

25 На ощупь бредут они во тьме беспросветной, словно пьяные, блуждают.
