2 Наследие наше перешло к чужим, домы наши к иноземцам.

3 Мы сделались сиротами; нет отца, матери наши - вдовы.

4 Воду свою покупаем за серебро, дрова приходят к нам за деньги.

5 В шею толкают нас, работаем, и не дают нам отдыха.

6 К Египту протягиваем руку, к Ассуру, чтоб накормили хлебом.

7 Отцы наши грешили, нет их; мы несем наказание за беззакония их.

8 Рабы господствуют над нами, и некому освободить из руки их.

9 Хлеб достаем себе с опасностью души от меча пустынного.

10 Кожа наша почернела как печь, от жжения голода.

11 Жен на Сионе бесчестят, девиц в городах иудейских.

12 Князи руками их повешены, лице старцев не уважено.

13 Юноши носят жернова, и отроки падают под дровами.

14 У врат уже не сидят старцы; юноши не касаются струн своих,

15 Нет радости сердцу нашему, хороводы наши изменились на сетование.

16 Упал венец с головы нашей; увы нам, потому что мы грешники.

17 Вот от чего изнывает сердце наше, вот, от чего очи наши померкли.

18 От того, что опустела гора Сион, лисицы ходят по ней.

19 Ты, Иегова, живешь вечно, престол Твой в род и род.

20 Почто забываешь нас, вовсе покидаешь нас на долгое время?

21 Обрати нас к Тебе, Иегова, и обратимся; обнови дни наши, как древле.

22 Ибо ужели Ты совершенно презрел нас, слишком сильно на нас прогневался?
