1 Bel1078 boweth down,3766 Nebo5015 stoopeth,7164 their idols6091 were1961 upon the beasts,2416 and upon the cattle:929 your carriages5385 were heavy laden;6006 they are a burden4853 to the weary5889 beast.

2 They stoop,7164 they bow down3766 together;3162 they could3201 not3808 deliver4422 the burden,4853 but themselves5315 are gone1980 into captivity.7628

3 Hearken8085 unto413 me, O house1004 of Jacob,3290 and all3605 the remnant7611 of the house1004 of Israel,3478 which are borne6006 by me from4480 the belly,990 which are carried5375 from4480 the womb: 7356

4 And even to5704 your old age2209 I589 am he;1931 and even to5704 hoar hairs7872 will I589 carry5445 you: I589 have made,6213 and I589 will bear;5375 even I589 will carry,5445 and will deliver4422 you.

5 To whom4310 will ye liken1819 me, and make me equal,7737 and compare4911 me, that we may be like?1819

6 They lavish2107 gold2091 out of the bag,4480 3599 and weigh8254 silver3701 in the balance,7070 and hire7936 a goldsmith;6884 and he maketh6213 it a god:410 they fall down,5456 yea,637 they worship.7812

7 They bear5375 him upon5921 the shoulder,3802 they carry5445 him, and set5117 him in his place,8478 and he standeth;5975 from his place4480 4725 shall he not3808 remove:4185 yea,637 one shall cry6817 unto413 him, yet can he not3808 answer,6030 nor3808 save3467 him out of his trouble.4480 6869

1 BEL has fallen down, Nebo is overthrown; their idols were loaded as burdens upon beasts, yea, upon weary beasts and cattle.

2 They were overthrown, they have fallen down together; they could not rescue those who carried them, but they themselves are gone into captivity.

3 Hearken to me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, even those who are borne in the belly and who still are carried in the womb:

4 Even to your old age I am he; and even to gray hairs I will endure. I have made and I will sustain; even I will carry and will deliver.

5 To whom will you liken me and make me equal and compare me, that we may be alike?

6 To those who go astray, who pour out gold from their bags and weigh silver in the balance and hire a goldsmith; and they make it a god; they worship it, and they also pray to it?

7 They bear it upon their shoulders, they carry it and set it in its place, and it cannot rise up from its place; they also pray to it, but it does not answer them nor save them from their troubles.

8 Remember these things and discern; bring it again to your mind, O you transgressors!

9 Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other god; and there is none like me,

10 Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure,

11 Calling a ruler swift as a bird from the east, the man who executes my counsel from a far land; yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

12 Hearken to me, O you stubborn of heart, that are far from righteousness;

13 My righteousness is near; it shall not be far off, my salvation shall not tarry; and I will give salvation in Zion and for Israel my glory.
