Chapter 20

1 For1063 the3588 kingdom932 of heaven3772 is2076 like unto3664 a man444 that is a householder,3617 which3748 went out1831 early in the morning260 4404 to hire3409 laborers2040 into1519 his848 vineyard.290

2 And1161 when he had agreed4856 with3326 the3588 laborers2040 for1537 a penny1220 a day,2250 he sent649 them846 into1519 his848 vineyard.290

3 And2532 he went out1831 about4012 the3588 third5154 hour,5610 and saw1492 others243 standing2476 idle692 in1722 the3588 marketplace,58

4 And said unto them;2548 2036 Go5217 ye5210 also2532 into1519 the3588 vineyard,290 and2532 whatsoever3739 1437 is5600 right1342 I will give1325 you.5213 And1161 they3588 went their way.565

5 Again3825 he went out1831 about4012 the sixth1623 and2532 ninth1766 hour,5610 and did4160 likewise.5615

6 And1161 about4012 the3588 eleventh1734 hour5610 he went out,1831 and found2147 others243 standing2476 idle,692 and2532 saith3004 unto them,846 Why5101 stand2476 ye here5602 all3650 the3588 day2250 idle?692

7 They say3004 unto him,846 Because3754 no man3762 hath hired3409 us.2248 He saith3004 unto them,846 Go5217 ye5210 also2532 into1519 the3588 vineyard;290 and2532 whatsoever3739 1437 is5600 right,1342 that shall ye receive.2983

8 So1161 when even3798 was come,1096 the3588 lord2962 of the3588 vineyard290 saith unto his848 steward,2012 Call2564 the3588 laborers,2040 and2532 give591 them846 their hire,3408 beginning756 from575 the3588 last2078 unto2193 the3588 first.4413

9 And2532 when they came2064 that3588 were hired about4012 the3588 eleventh1734 hour,5610 they received2983 every man303 a penny.1220

10 But1161 when the3588 first4413 came,2064 they supposed3543 that3754 they should have received2983 more;4119 and2532 they846 likewise2532 received2983 every man303 a penny.1220

11 And1161 when they had received2983 it, they murmured1111 against2596 the3588 goodman of the house,3617

12 Saying,3004 These3778 last2078 have wrought4160 but one3391 hour,5610 and2532 thou hast made4160 them846 equal2470 unto us,2254 which have borne941 the3588 burden922 and2532 heat2742 of the3588 day.2250

13 But1161 he3588 answered611 one1520 of them,846 and said,2036 Friend,2083 I do thee no wrong: 91 4571 3756 didst not3780 thou agree4856 with me3427 for a penny?1220

14 Take142 that thine4674 is, and2532 go thy way: 5217 I1161 will2309 give1325 unto this5129 last,2078 even2532 as5613 unto thee.4671

15 Is it not lawful1832 3756 for me3427 to do4160 what3739 I will2309 with1722 mine own?1699 1487 Is2076 thine4675 eye3788 evil,4190 because3754 I1473 am1510 good?18

16 So3779 the3588 last2078 shall be2071 first,4413 and2532 the3588 first4413 last: 2078 for1063 many4183 be1526 called,2822 but1161 few3641 chosen.1588

17 And2532 Jesus2424 going up305 to1519 Jerusalem2414 took3880 the3588 twelve1427 disciples3101 apart2596 2398 in1722 the3588 way,3598 and2532 said2036 unto them,846

18 Behold,2400 we go up305 to1519 Jerusalem: 2414 and2532 the3588 Son5207 of man444 shall be betrayed3860 unto the3588 chief priests749 and2532 unto the scribes,1122 and2532 they shall condemn2632 him846 to death,2288

19 And2532 shall deliver3860 him846 to the3588 Gentiles1484 to mock,1702 and2532 to scourge,3146 and2532 to crucify4717 him: and2532 the3588 third5154 day2250 he shall rise again.450

20 Then5119 came4334 to him846 the3588 mother3384 of Zebedee's2199 children5207 with3326 her848 sons,5207 worshiping4352 him, and2532 desiring154 a certain thing5100 of3844 him.846

21 And1161 he3588 said2036 unto her,846 What5101 wilt2309 thou? She saith3004 unto him,846 Grant2036 that2443 these3778 my3450 two1417 sons5207 may sit,2523 the one1520 on1537 thy4675 right hand,1188 and2532 the other1520 on1537 the left,2176 in1722 thy4675 kingdom.932

22 But1161 Jesus2424 answered611 and said,2036 Ye know1492 not3756 what5101 ye ask.154 Are ye able1410 to drink4095 of the3588 cup4221 that3739 I1473 shall3195 drink4095 of, and2532 to be baptized907 with the3588 baptism908 that3739 I1473 am baptized907 with? They say3004 unto him,846 We are able.1410

23 And2532 he saith3004 unto them,846 Ye shall drink4095 indeed3303 of my3450 cup,4221 and2532 be baptized907 with the3588 baptism908 that3739 I1473 am baptized907 with: but1161 to sit2523 on1537 my3450 right hand,1188 and2532 on1537 my3450 left,2176 is2076 not3756 mine1699 to give,1325 but235 it shall be given to them for whom3739 it is prepared2090 of5259 my3450 Father.3962

24 And2532 when the3588 ten1176 heard191 it, they were moved with indignation23 against4012 the3588 two1417 brethren.80

25 But1161 Jesus2424 called4341 them846 unto him, and said,2036 Ye know1492 that3754 the3588 princes758 of the3588 Gentiles1484 exercise dominion2634 over them,846 and2532 they that are great3173 exercise authority2715 upon them.846

26 But1161 it shall not3756 be2071 so3779 among1722 you: 5213 but235 whosoever3739 1437 will2309 be1096 great3173 among1722 you,5213 let him be2077 your5216 minister;1249

27 And2532 whosoever3739 1437 will2309 be1511 chief4413 among1722 you,5213 let him be2077 your5216 servant: 1401

28 Even as5618 the3588 Son5207 of man444 came2064 not3756 to be ministered unto,1247 but235 to minister,1247 and2532 to give1325 his848 life5590 a ransom3083 for473 many.4183

29 And2532 as they846 departed1607 from575 Jericho,2410 a great4183 multitude3793 followed190 him.846

30 And,2532 behold,2400 two1417 blind men5185 sitting2521 by3844 the3588 way side,3598 when they heard191 that3754 Jesus2424 passed by,3855 cried out,2896 saying,3004 Have mercy1653 on us,2248 O Lord,2962 thou son5207 of David.1138

31 And1161 the3588 multitude3793 rebuked2008 them,846 because2443 they should hold their peace:4623 but1161 they3588 cried2896 the more,3185 saying,3004 Have mercy1653 on us,2248 O Lord,2962 thou son5207 of David.1138

32 And2532 Jesus2424 stood still,2476 and called5455 them,846 and2532 said,2036 What5101 will2309 ye that I shall do4160 unto you?5213

33 They say3004 unto him,846 Lord,2962 that2443 our2257 eyes3788 may be opened.455

34 So1161 Jesus2424 had compassion4697 on them, and touched680 their846 eyes:3788 and2532 immediately2112 their846 eyes3788 received sight,308 and2532 they followed190 him.846

Chapter 20

1 FOR the kingdom of heaven is like a man, who is a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.

2 He bargained with the laborers for a penny a day, and sent them to his vineyard.

3 And he went out at the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the market place.

4 And he said to them, You also go to the vineyard, and I will give you what is right. And they went.

5 And he went out again at the sixth and at the ninth hour, and did the same.

6 And towards the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and he said to them, Why do you stand all day idle?

7 They said to him, Because no man has hired us. He said to them, You also go to the vineyard, and you will receive what is right.

8 When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, Call the laborers and pay them their wages; and begin from the last ones to the first.

9 When those of the eleventh hour came, they each received a penny.

10 But when the first ones came, they expected to receive more; but they also got each one a penny.

11 And when they received it, they murmured against the householder,

12 Saying, These last ones have worked only one hour, and you have made them equal with us who have borne the weight of the day and its heat.

13 He answered and said to one of them, My friend, I am not doing you an injustice; did you not bargain with me for a penny?

14 Take what is yours and go away; I wish to give to this last one the same as to you.

15 Have I no right to do what I wish with mine own? Or are you jealous because I am generous?

16 Even so the last shall be first, and the first last; for many are called, but few are chosen.

17 Now Jesus was ready to go up to Jerusalem; and he took his twelve disciples apart on the road, and he said to them,

18 Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered to the high priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death.

19 And they will deliver him to the Gentiles and they will mock him, and scourge him, and crucify him; and on the third day he will rise up.

20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him, together with her sons; and she worshipped him, and requested something of him.

21 He said to her, What do you wish? She said to him, Command that these two sons of mine sit, one at your right and one at your left, in your kingdom.

22 Jesus answered and said, You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I am ready to drink, or be baptized with the baptism with which I am to be baptized? They said to him, We can.

23 He said to them, Indeed my cup you shall drink, and the baptism with which I am to be baptized, you too shall be baptized with; but to sit at my right hand and at my left, that is not mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by my Father.

24 When the ten heard it, they were angry at the two brothers.

25 And Jesus called them and said, You know that the princes of the people are also their owners; and their officials rule over them.

26 Let not this be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you, let him be a minister to you;

27 And whoever wishes to be first among you, let him be a servant to you;

28 Just as the Son of man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life as a salvation for the sake of many.

29 And when Jesus went out of Jericho a large crowd followed him.

30 And behold, two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried aloud, saying, Have mercy upon us, O Lord, son of David.

31 But the people rebuked them to keep quiet; but they cried louder, saying, Our Lord, have mercy upon us, son of David.

32 And Jesus stopped and called them, and he said, What do you wish me to do for you?

33 They said to him, Our Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

34 And Jesus had mercy upon them, so he touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes were opened, and they followed him.

Chapter 20

1 For1063 the3588 kingdom932 of heaven3772 is2076 like unto3664 a man444 that is a householder,3617 which3748 went out1831 early in the morning260 4404 to hire3409 laborers2040 into1519 his848 vineyard.290

1 FOR the kingdom of heaven is like a man, who is a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.

2 And1161 when he had agreed4856 with3326 the3588 laborers2040 for1537 a penny1220 a day,2250 he sent649 them846 into1519 his848 vineyard.290

2 He bargained with the laborers for a penny a day, and sent them to his vineyard.

3 And2532 he went out1831 about4012 the3588 third5154 hour,5610 and saw1492 others243 standing2476 idle692 in1722 the3588 marketplace,58

3 And he went out at the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the market place.

4 And said unto them;2548 2036 Go5217 ye5210 also2532 into1519 the3588 vineyard,290 and2532 whatsoever3739 1437 is5600 right1342 I will give1325 you.5213 And1161 they3588 went their way.565

4 And he said to them, You also go to the vineyard, and I will give you what is right. And they went.

5 Again3825 he went out1831 about4012 the sixth1623 and2532 ninth1766 hour,5610 and did4160 likewise.5615

5 And he went out again at the sixth and at the ninth hour, and did the same.

6 And1161 about4012 the3588 eleventh1734 hour5610 he went out,1831 and found2147 others243 standing2476 idle,692 and2532 saith3004 unto them,846 Why5101 stand2476 ye here5602 all3650 the3588 day2250 idle?692

6 And towards the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing idle, and he said to them, Why do you stand all day idle?

7 They say3004 unto him,846 Because3754 no man3762 hath hired3409 us.2248 He saith3004 unto them,846 Go5217 ye5210 also2532 into1519 the3588 vineyard;290 and2532 whatsoever3739 1437 is5600 right,1342 that shall ye receive.2983

7 They said to him, Because no man has hired us. He said to them, You also go to the vineyard, and you will receive what is right.

8 When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, Call the laborers and pay them their wages; and begin from the last ones to the first.

9 And2532 when they came2064 that3588 were hired about4012 the3588 eleventh1734 hour,5610 they received2983 every man303 a penny.1220

9 When those of the eleventh hour came, they each received a penny.

10 But1161 when the3588 first4413 came,2064 they supposed3543 that3754 they should have received2983 more;4119 and2532 they846 likewise2532 received2983 every man303 a penny.1220

10 But when the first ones came, they expected to receive more; but they also got each one a penny.

11 And1161 when they had received2983 it, they murmured1111 against2596 the3588 goodman of the house,3617

11 And when they received it, they murmured against the householder,

12 Saying,3004 These3778 last2078 have wrought4160 but one3391 hour,5610 and2532 thou hast made4160 them846 equal2470 unto us,2254 which have borne941 the3588 burden922 and2532 heat2742 of the3588 day.2250

12 Saying, These last ones have worked only one hour, and you have made them equal with us who have borne the weight of the day and its heat.

13 But1161 he3588 answered611 one1520 of them,846 and said,2036 Friend,2083 I do thee no wrong: 91 4571 3756 didst not3780 thou agree4856 with me3427 for a penny?1220

13 He answered and said to one of them, My friend, I am not doing you an injustice; did you not bargain with me for a penny?

14 Take142 that thine4674 is, and2532 go thy way: 5217 I1161 will2309 give1325 unto this5129 last,2078 even2532 as5613 unto thee.4671

14 Take what is yours and go away; I wish to give to this last one the same as to you.

15 Is it not lawful1832 3756 for me3427 to do4160 what3739 I will2309 with1722 mine own?1699 1487 Is2076 thine4675 eye3788 evil,4190 because3754 I1473 am1510 good?18

15 Have I no right to do what I wish with mine own? Or are you jealous because I am generous?

16 So3779 the3588 last2078 shall be2071 first,4413 and2532 the3588 first4413 last: 2078 for1063 many4183 be1526 called,2822 but1161 few3641 chosen.1588

16 Even so the last shall be first, and the first last; for many are called, but few are chosen.

17 And2532 Jesus2424 going up305 to1519 Jerusalem2414 took3880 the3588 twelve1427 disciples3101 apart2596 2398 in1722 the3588 way,3598 and2532 said2036 unto them,846

17 Now Jesus was ready to go up to Jerusalem; and he took his twelve disciples apart on the road, and he said to them,

18 Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered to the high priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death.

19 And2532 shall deliver3860 him846 to the3588 Gentiles1484 to mock,1702 and2532 to scourge,3146 and2532 to crucify4717 him: and2532 the3588 third5154 day2250 he shall rise again.450

19 And they will deliver him to the Gentiles and they will mock him, and scourge him, and crucify him; and on the third day he will rise up.

20 Then5119 came4334 to him846 the3588 mother3384 of Zebedee's2199 children5207 with3326 her848 sons,5207 worshiping4352 him, and2532 desiring154 a certain thing5100 of3844 him.846

20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him, together with her sons; and she worshipped him, and requested something of him.

21 He said to her, What do you wish? She said to him, Command that these two sons of mine sit, one at your right and one at your left, in your kingdom.

22 Jesus answered and said, You do not know what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I am ready to drink, or be baptized with the baptism with which I am to be baptized? They said to him, We can.

23 He said to them, Indeed my cup you shall drink, and the baptism with which I am to be baptized, you too shall be baptized with; but to sit at my right hand and at my left, that is not mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by my Father.

24 And2532 when the3588 ten1176 heard191 it, they were moved with indignation23 against4012 the3588 two1417 brethren.80

24 When the ten heard it, they were angry at the two brothers.

25 And Jesus called them and said, You know that the princes of the people are also their owners; and their officials rule over them.

26 But1161 it shall not3756 be2071 so3779 among1722 you: 5213 but235 whosoever3739 1437 will2309 be1096 great3173 among1722 you,5213 let him be2077 your5216 minister;1249

26 Let not this be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you, let him be a minister to you;

27 And2532 whosoever3739 1437 will2309 be1511 chief4413 among1722 you,5213 let him be2077 your5216 servant: 1401

27 And whoever wishes to be first among you, let him be a servant to you;

28 Even as5618 the3588 Son5207 of man444 came2064 not3756 to be ministered unto,1247 but235 to minister,1247 and2532 to give1325 his848 life5590 a ransom3083 for473 many.4183

28 Just as the Son of man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life as a salvation for the sake of many.

29 And2532 as they846 departed1607 from575 Jericho,2410 a great4183 multitude3793 followed190 him.846

29 And when Jesus went out of Jericho a large crowd followed him.
