Chapter 30

1 But now6258 they that are younger6810 3117 than4480 I have me in derision,7832 5921 whose834 fathers1 I would have disdained3988 to have set7896 with5973 the dogs3611 of my flock.6629

2 Yea,1571 whereto4100 might the strength3581 of their hands3027 profit me, in whom5921 old age3624 was perished?6

3 For want2639 and famine3720 they were solitary;1565 fleeing6207 into the wilderness6723 in former time570 desolate7722 and waste.4875

4 Who cut up6998 mallows4408 by5921 the bushes,7880 and juniper7574 roots8328 for their meat.3899

5 They were driven forth1644 from4480 among1460 men, (they cried7321 after5921 them as after a thief;)1590

6 To dwell7931 in the clefts6178 of the valleys,5158 in caves2356 of the earth,6083 and in the rocks.3710

26 When3588 I looked for6960 good,2896 then evil7451 came935 unto me: and when I waited3176 for light,216 there came935 darkness.652

1 А теперь смеются надо мной те, кто юнее меня, чьих отцов я не подпустил бы и к собакам при моих отарах.

2 И крепость их рук — зачем она мне? Истощилась их прежняя сила,

3 нищетой и голодом они измучены, гложут землю сухую в краю пустыни бесплодной.

4 У кустов собирают солоноватые травы, корни ракитника — для них пища.

5 Из сообщества людского изгнаны они, кричат на них, как на вора.

6 И живут они в руслах высохших, в норах подземных средь скал.

7 Средь кустарников они воют, в зарослях колючих друг к другу жмутся.

8 Сброд никчемный, люди без имени, их извергла земля.

9 А нынче с издевкой песни они обо мне распевают, присказкой стал я у них.

10 Мной гнушаются они, меня сторонятся, в лицо мне плюнуть не преминут.

11 Вот Он расторг мою тетиву, унизил меня! Потому-то недруги мои будто с цепи сорвались.

12 Справа подступает ко мне эта свора, в бегство меня обращает, против меня ведут смертельную осаду.

13 Дорогу предо мной они изрыли, погибель мою готовят, и никто их уже не удержит.

14 Устремились на меня, словно в город сквозь широкий пролом, всё круша, нахлынули.

15 Ужасы на меня обрушились. Словно по ветру, почет мой развеялся, словно облако, благоденствие мое растаяло.

16 И теперь душа моя плачет во мне, дни бедствий меня объяли.

17 Ночью боль мои кости пронзает, грызет она меня без устали.

18 Крепко схватил Он меня за одежды, душит меня воротом рубахи.

19 Бросил в грязь меня — и меня попирают, словно прах и пепел.

20 Я взываю к Тебе, но Ты не отвечаешь, стою и молю Тебя, и Ты это видишь.

21 Стал безжалостен Ты ко мне, могучей рукой Своей меня терзаешь.

22 Подхватил Ты меня, закружил по ветру, развеял в буре.

23 Знаю, ведешь меня к смерти, в дом, уготованный всем живущим.

24 Разве бедняку я не протягивал руку, если, погибая, он молил меня о помощи?

25 Разве не плакал я о тех, кому тяжко? Разве не сочувствовал я всей душой несчастным?

26 Ждал я добра, а пришло зло, света жаждал, а пришла тьма.

27 Всё внутри воспалилось во мне, боль не стихает, с горем я повстречался.

28 Почернел я, но не от солнца, встаю в собрании и зову на помощь.

29 Братом я стал шакалам и другом страусам.

30 Кожа на мне обуглилась, кости мои огнем пылают.

31 Цитры напев плачем стал, а звук свирели — рыданьем.
