Chapter 30

1 But now6258 they that are younger6810 3117 than4480 I have me in derision,7832 5921 whose834 fathers1 I would have disdained3988 to have set7896 with5973 the dogs3611 of my flock.6629

2 Yea,1571 whereto4100 might the strength3581 of their hands3027 profit me, in whom5921 old age3624 was perished?6

3 For want2639 and famine3720 they were solitary;1565 fleeing6207 into the wilderness6723 in former time570 desolate7722 and waste.4875

4 Who cut up6998 mallows4408 by5921 the bushes,7880 and juniper7574 roots8328 for their meat.3899

5 They were driven forth1644 from4480 among1460 men, (they cried7321 after5921 them as after a thief;)1590

6 To dwell7931 in the clefts6178 of the valleys,5158 in caves2356 of the earth,6083 and in the rocks.3710

1 А ныне смеются надо мною младшие меня летами, те, коих отцев не хотел бы я поместить со псами стад моих.

2 И сила рук их к чему мне? Горе с ними было бы старости.

3 Бедностью и голодом иссушенные, они гложут землю безводную, издавна разоренную и опустевшую;

4 Щиплют лебеду подле кустов, и корень дрока есть хлеб их.

5 Из общества изгоняют их; кричат на них, как на вора.

6 Принуждены жить в страшных ярах, в ущельях земли и утесов.

7 Ревут между кустами; лежат, раскидавшись под тернием.

8 Сыны людей негодных, притом сыны людей без имени, изверженные из земли!

9 Им-то ныне я сделался песнию, и служу у них запасом для разговора.

10 Гнушаются мною, удаляются от меня, и не боятся плевать мне в лице.

11 Ибо разорвали оброть свою и теснят меня, и сбросили узду пред лицем моим.

12 С правого боку стоит это исчадие; сбили меня с ног, и угладили гибельные свои дороги ко мне.

13 Изрыли стезю мою, успели сделать все для моей гибели, они, у коих нет помощника.

14 Подобно падению широкой трещины они пришли {в другой редакции: идут как сквозь широкий пролом}, под громом разрушений несутся.

15 Все у меня превратилось; ужас, как буря, развеял славу мою; и как облако унеслось мое спасение.

16 И ныне обливается у меня душа моя слезами; постигли меня дни скорби.

17 Ночь сверлит кости мои во мне, и грызущие меня не засыпают.

18 От великой силы {в другой редакции: от величия могущества Его} изменилась одежда моя; подобно воротнику хитона моего Он охватил меня.

19 Поверг меня в грязь, и я сделался, как прах и пепел.

20 Вопию к Тебе, и не ответствуешь мне; предстою, но Ты не обращаешь внимания на меня.

21 Ты обратился в свирепого для меня, в силе руки Твоей враждуешь против меня.

22 Ты поднял меня на ветер, пустил меня, и растопил существо мое.

23 Так! я знаю, Ты низведешь меня к смерти, и в дом собрания всему живущему.

24 И всуе моление! Он возносит руку, хотя они и вопиют, когда Он губит.

25 Как не плакать мне в тяжкой године? Прискорбна душа моя как убогая.

26 Ибо я чаял добра, и пришло зло; когда ждал света, тогда мрак пришел.

27 Внутренность моя кипит и не умолкает; постигли меня дни скорби.

28 Я хожу почернев, но не от солнца; кричу, стоя в народном собрании.

29 Я сделался братом шакалам, и другом страусам.

30 Кожа моя почернела на мне, и кость моя обгорела от жару.

31 И печальною сделалась арфа моя, и свирель моя издает голос плачущих.
