Chapter 26

1 WHEN Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,

2 You know that after two days will be the passover, and the Son of man will be betrayed to be crucified.

3 Then the high priests and the scribes and the elders of the people assembled in the court yard of the high priest, who is called Caiaphas.

4 And they took counsel concerning Jesus, to arrest him by a snare and kill him.

5 And they said, Not on the feast day, so as not to cause a riot among the people.

6 And when Jesus was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

7 A woman came up to him with an alabaster vessel of precious perfume, and she poured it upon the head of Jesus, while he was reclining.

8 When his disciples saw it, they were dis- pleased, and said, Why is this loss?

9 For it could have been sold for a great deal, and given to the poor.

10 But Jesus understood it and said to them, Why are you troubling the woman? She has done a good work to me.

11 For you always have the poor with you, but you will not have me always.

12 But this one who poured the perfume on my body, did it as for my burial.

13 And truly I say to you, Wherever this my gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told as a memorial to her.

14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas of Iscariot, went to the high priests;

15 And he said to them, What are you willing to give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they promised him thirty pieces of silver.

16 And from that time he sought an opportunity to betray him.

17 On the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came up to Jesus and said to him, Where do you wish that we may prepare the passover for you to eat?

18 And he said to them, Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, Our Master says, My time has come, I will observe the passover with my disciples at your house.

19 And his disciples did as Jesus had commanded them; and they prepared the passover.

20 And when it was evening, he was reclining with his twelve disciples.

21 And while they were eating he said, Truly I say to you, that one of you will betray me.

22 And they felt very sad, and began to say to him one by one, Why, is it I, my Lord?

23 And he answered and said, He who dips his hand with me in the dish, he will betray me.

24 The Son of man is going through, just as it is written concerning him; but woe to the man by whose hand the Son of man is betrayed! it would have been far better for that man never to have been born.

25 Then Judas the traitor answered and said, Master, perhaps it is I? Jesus said to him, You say that.

26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it, and he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and he said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 Then he took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them and said, Take, drink of it, all of you.

28 This is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29 But I say to you, from now on I shall not drink from this fruit of the vine, until the day when I drink it anew with you in the kingdom of God.

30 And they offered praise, and went out to the Mount of Olives.

31 Then Jesus said to them, All of you will deny me this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of his flock will be scattered.

32 But after I am risen, I will be in Galilee before you.

33 Peter answered and said to him, Even if every man should deny you, I will never deny you.

34 Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, that in this very night, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.

35 Peter said to him, Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you. All the disciples said likewise.

36 Then Jesus came with them to a place which is called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, Sit down here, while I go to pray.

37 And he took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and he began to be sorrowful and oppressed.

38 He said to them, My soul is sorrowful even to death; wait for me here, and watch with me.

39 And he went a little further and fell on his face, and prayed saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; but let it be, not as I will, but as you.

40 Then he came to his disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, So, you were not able to watch with me even for one hour?

41 Awake and pray, that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is ready, but the body is weak.

42 He went away again the second time and prayed and said, O my Father, if this cup cannot pass, and if I have to drink it, let it be according to your will.

43 He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

44 And he left them and went away again and prayed the third time, and he said the same word.

45 Then he came to his disciples and said to them, Sleep from now on and get your rest; behold, the hour has come, and the Son of man will be delivered into the hands of sinners.

46 Arise, let us go; behold, he who is to deliver me has arrived.

47 While he was speaking, behold, Judas the traitor, one of the twelve, came and with him a large crowd with swords and staves, from the high priests and the elders of the people.

48 Now Judas the traitor had given them a sign, saying, He whom I kiss, it is he, arrest him.

49 And immediately he came up to Jesus and said, Peace, Master; and he kissed him.

50 Jesus said to him, Is it for this that you have come, my friend? Then they came near and laid hands on Jesus, and arrested him.

51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew a sword, and struck it at the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

52 Then Jesus said to him, Return the sword to its place; for all who take swords will die by swords.

53 Or do you think that I cannot ask of my Father, and he will now raise up for me more than twelve legions of angels?

54 How then could the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?

55 At that very hour Jesus said to the people, Have you come out with swords and staves to arrest me like a bandit? I sat with you every day, teaching in the temple, and you did not arrest me.

56 But this has happened so that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him, and fled.

57 And those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had assembled.

58 But Simon Peter followed him afar off, up to the courtyard of the high priest, and he went inside and sat with the soldiers, to see the end.

59 Now the high priests and the elders and the whole council were seeking witnesses against Jesus, so that they might put him to death.

60 But they could not find any; then there came a great many false witnesses; but at the end two came forward,

61 And said, This man said, I can tear down the temple of God, and build it in three days.

62 And the high priest stood up and said to him, You are not answering anything. What is it that these men testify against you?

63 But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest answered and said to him, I adjure you by the living God, to tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God?

64 Jesus said to him, You say that. But I say to you that from henceforth you will see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the power, and coming upon the clouds of the sky.

65 The high priest then rent his clothes and said, Behold, he is blaspheming; why therefore do we need witnesses? behold, you have now heard his blasphemy.

66 What else do you want? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

67 Then they spat in his face, and struck him on his head, and others beat him,

68 Saying, O Christ, prophesy to us; who smote you?

69 Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard; and a maidservant came up to him, and said to him, You also were with Jesus the Nazarene.

70 But he denied it before all of them, and said, I do not understand what you are saying.

71 And as he was going to the porch, another one saw him, and she said to them, This man was also there with Jesus the Nazarene.

72 Again he denied it with oaths, I do not know the man.

73 After a while, those who were standing came up, and said to Peter, Truly you also are one of them, for even your speech proves it.

74 Then he began to curse and to swear, I do not know the man. At that very hour the cock crowed.

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which he had said to him, Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. And he went outside and wept bitterly.

1 И было: когда окончил Иисус все слова эти, сказал Он ученикам Своим:

2 вы знаете, что через два дня Пасха, и Сын Человеческий предан будет на распятие.

3 Тогда собрались первосвященники и старейшины народные во дворец первосвященника по имени Каиафа,

4 и сообща решили взять Иисуса хитростью и убить;

5 но говорили: не в праздник, чтобы не произошло возмущения в народе.

6 Когда же Иисус был в Вифании, в доме Симона прокаженного,

7 подошла к Нему женщина с алебастровым сосудом мира драгоценного и стала возливать Ему на голову в то время, как Он возлежал.

8 Увидев, ученики вознегодовали и говорили: к чему эта расточительность?

9 Ведь можно было бы это продать за большую цену и дать нищим.

10 Но Иисус, узнав, сказал им: что смущаете женщину? Доброе дело сделала она для Меня;

11 ибо нищих вы всегда имеете с собою, Меня же не всегда имеете;

12 возлив это миро на тело Мое, она сделала это для Моего погребения.

13 Истинно говорю вам: где ни будет проповедано это Евангелие, во всем мире, будут говорить и о том, что сделала она, в воспоминание о ней.

14 Тогда один из Двенадцати, по имени Иуда Искариот, пошел к первосвященникам

15 и сказал им: что хотите дать мне, и я вам предам Его? Они же отсчитали ему тридцать сребреников.

16 И с того времени он искал удобного случая предать Его.

17 В первый же день Опресноков подошли ученики к Иисусу, говоря: где хочешь, чтобы мы приготовили Тебе вкусить Пасху?

18 Он же сказал: идите в город к такому-то и скажите ему: «Учитель говорит: время Мое близко, у тебя Я совершу Пасху с учениками Моими».

19 И сделали ученики, как повелел им Иисус, и приготовили Пасху.

20 С наступлением же вечера, Он возлег с двенадцатью учениками;

21 и когда они ели, Он сказал: истинно говорю вам: один из вас предаст Меня.

22 И печалясь сильно, они начали говорить Ему, каждый в отдельности: не я ли, Господи?

23 Он же ответил: опустивший со Мною руку в блюдо, тот и предаст Меня.

24 Впрочем Сын Человеческий идет, как написано о Нем; но горе человеку тому, чрез которого Сын Человеческий предается: лучше было бы человеку тому не родиться.

25 И сказал в ответ Иуда, предающий Его: не я ли, Равви? Говорит ему Иисус: ты сказал.

26 И когда они ели, взял Иисус хлеб и, благословив, преломил и, дав ученикам, сказал: возьмите, вкусите: это есть тело Мое.

27 И взяв чашу и возблагодарив, дал им и сказал: пейте из нее все;

28 это есть кровь Моя нового завета, за многих изливаемая для отпущения грехов.

29 Говорю же вам: не буду пить впредь от этого плода лозы виноградной до дня того, когда буду пить его новым вместе с вами в Царстве Отца Моего.

30 И воспев хвалебную песнь, вышли они на гору Масличную.

31 Тогда говорит им Иисус: все вы соблазнитесь из-за Меня в эту ночь, ибо написано: «Поражу пастыря, и будут рассеяны овцы стада».

32 По восстании же Моем Я предварю вас в Галилее.

33 И ответил Ему Петр: если и все соблазнятся из-за Тебя, я никогда не соблазнюсь.

34 Сказал ему Иисус: истинно говорю тебе: в эту ночь, прежде чем пропоет петух, ты трижды отречешься от Меня.

35 Говорит Ему Петр: хотя бы надлежало мне вместе с Тобою умереть, не отрекусь от Тебя. Подобное же сказали и все ученики.

36 Потом приходит с ними Иисус в местность, называемую Гефсимания, и говорит ученикам: посидите здесь, а Я тем временем пойду туда и помолюсь.

37 И взяв с Собой Петра и обоих сыновей Зеведеевых, начал скорбеть и томиться.

38 Тогда говорит им: объята скорбию душа Моя до смерти, побудьте здесь и бодрствуйте со Мною.

39 И пройдя немного вперед, пал на лицо Свое, молился и говорил: Отче Мой, если возможно, да минует Меня чаша эта; впрочем, не как Я хочу, но как Ты.

40 И приходит к ученикам, и находит их спящими, и говорит Петру: так ли не смогли вы один час пободрствовать со Мною?

41 Бодрствуйте и молитесь, чтобы не впасть вам в искушение: дух бодр, плоть же немощна.

42 И снова, во второй раз, Он пошел и помолился такими словами: Отче Мой, если не может чаша эта миновать Меня, чтобы Мне не пить ее, да будет воля Твоя.

43 И придя снова, нашел их спящими: ибо их глаза отяжелели.

44 И оставив их, Он снова отошел и помолился в третий раз и снова сказал то же слово.

45 Тогда приходит к ученикам и говорит им: что же, вы спите и почиваете? Вот, близок час, и Сын Человеческий предается в руки грешников.

46 Вставайте, идем: вот, уже близко предающий Меня.

47 И пока еще Он говорил, вот, пришел Иуда, один из Двенадцати, и с ним большая толпа с мечами и кольями от первосвященников и старейшин народных.

48 Предающий же дал им знак: кого я поцелую, Он и есть, возьмите Его.

49 И тотчас подошел к Иисусу и сказал: здравствуй, Равви! и поцеловал Его.

50 Иисус же сказал ему: друг, вот для чего ты здесь! Тогда они подошли, наложили руки на Иисуса и взяли Его.

51 И вот, один из бывших с Иисусом, протянув руку, выхватил меч свой и, ударив раба первосвященника, отсек ему ухо.

52 Тогда говорит ему Иисус: возврати меч твой в место его, ибо все, взявшие меч, от меча погибнут.

53 Или ты думаешь, что Я не могу упросить Отца Моего, и Он не даст Мне тотчас же более двенадцати легионов ангелов?

54 Как же исполнятся Писания, что это должно произойти?

55 В тот час сказал Иисус народу: как на разбойника вышли вы с мечами и кольями задержать Меня; каждый день сидел Я и учил в храме, и вы не взяли Меня.

56 Это же всё произошло, чтобы исполнились писания пророков. Тогда все ученики, оставив Его, бежали.

57 Взявшие же Иисуса отвели Его к Каиафе первосвященнику, где собраны были книжники и старейшины.

58 Петр же следовал за Ним издали, до двора первосвященника; и войдя внутрь, сидел вместе со служителями, чтобы видеть конец.

59 Первосвященники же и синедрион в полном составе искали лжесвидетельства против Иисуса, чтобы предать Его смерти.

60 И не нашли, хотя и много явилось лжесвидетелей. Наконец подошли двое

61 и сказали: Он говорил: «Я могу разрушить храм Божий и в три дня воздвигнуть его».

62 И встав, первосвященник сказал Ему: Ты ничего не отвечаешь? Что они против Тебя свидетельствуют?

63 Иисус же молчал. И первосвященник сказал Ему: заклинаю Тебя Богом Живым, скажи нам: Ты ли Христос, Сын Божий?

64 Говорит ему Иисус: ты сказал. Но Я говорю вам: отныне будете видеть Сына Человеческого, восседающего по правую сторону Силы и грядущего на облаках небесных.

65 Тогда первосвященник разодрал одежды свои и сказал: Он произнес хулу! Какая нам еще нужда в свидетелях? Вот теперь вы слышали хулу!

66 Как вам кажется? Они же ответили: повинен смерти.

67 Тогда плюнули Ему в лицо и заушили Его; другие же били Его,

68 говоря: прореки нам, Христос, кто ударил Тебя?

69 Петр же сидел снаружи, на дворе. И подошла к нему одна служанка и сказала: и ты был с Иисусом Галилеянином.

70 Но он отрекся перед всеми и сказал: не знаю, что ты говоришь.

71 Когда же он прошел в ворота, увидела его другая, и говорит находящимся там: этот был с Иисусом Назореем.

72 И он снова отрекся с клятвой: я не знаю Этого Человека.

73 Немного же спустя подошли стоявшие и сказали Петру: поистине и ты из них, ибо и говор твой обличает тебя.

74 Тогда начал он усиленно клясться: я не знаю Этого Человека. И тотчас пропел петух.

75 И вспомнил Петр слово, сказанное Иисусом: прежде чем пропоет петух, ты трижды отречешься от Меня. И выйдя вон, плакал горько.

10 Но Иисус, узнав, сказал им: что смущаете женщину? Доброе дело сделала она для Меня;

11 ибо нищих вы всегда имеете с собою, Меня же не всегда имеете;

12 возлив это миро на тело Мое, она сделала это для Моего погребения.

13 Истинно говорю вам: где ни будет проповедано это Евангелие, во всем мире, будут говорить и о том, что сделала она, в воспоминание о ней.

14 Тогда один из Двенадцати, по имени Иуда Искариот, пошел к первосвященникам

20 С наступлением же вечера, Он возлег с двенадцатью учениками;

21 And while they were eating he said, Truly I say to you, that one of you will betray me.

21 и когда они ели, Он сказал: истинно говорю вам: один из вас предаст Меня.

22 And they felt very sad, and began to say to him one by one, Why, is it I, my Lord?

22 И печалясь сильно, они начали говорить Ему, каждый в отдельности: не я ли, Господи?

23 Он же ответил: опустивший со Мною руку в блюдо, тот и предаст Меня.

24 Впрочем Сын Человеческий идет, как написано о Нем; но горе человеку тому, чрез которого Сын Человеческий предается: лучше было бы человеку тому не родиться.

25 И сказал в ответ Иуда, предающий Его: не я ли, Равви? Говорит ему Иисус: ты сказал.

26 И когда они ели, взял Иисус хлеб и, благословив, преломил и, дав ученикам, сказал: возьмите, вкусите: это есть тело Мое.

27 И взяв чашу и возблагодарив, дал им и сказал: пейте из нее все;

40 И приходит к ученикам, и находит их спящими, и говорит Петру: так ли не смогли вы один час пободрствовать со Мною?

45 Then he came to his disciples and said to them, Sleep from now on and get your rest; behold, the hour has come, and the Son of man will be delivered into the hands of sinners.

45 Тогда приходит к ученикам и говорит им: что же, вы спите и почиваете? Вот, близок час, и Сын Человеческий предается в руки грешников.

46 Arise, let us go; behold, he who is to deliver me has arrived.

46 Вставайте, идем: вот, уже близко предающий Меня.

47 While he was speaking, behold, Judas the traitor, one of the twelve, came and with him a large crowd with swords and staves, from the high priests and the elders of the people.

47 И пока еще Он говорил, вот, пришел Иуда, один из Двенадцати, и с ним большая толпа с мечами и кольями от первосвященников и старейшин народных.

48 Now Judas the traitor had given them a sign, saying, He whom I kiss, it is he, arrest him.

48 Предающий же дал им знак: кого я поцелую, Он и есть, возьмите Его.

49 And immediately he came up to Jesus and said, Peace, Master; and he kissed him.

49 И тотчас подошел к Иисусу и сказал: здравствуй, Равви! и поцеловал Его.

50 Jesus said to him, Is it for this that you have come, my friend? Then they came near and laid hands on Jesus, and arrested him.

50 Иисус же сказал ему: друг, вот для чего ты здесь! Тогда они подошли, наложили руки на Иисуса и взяли Его.

51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew a sword, and struck it at the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

51 И вот, один из бывших с Иисусом, протянув руку, выхватил меч свой и, ударив раба первосвященника, отсек ему ухо.

52 Then Jesus said to him, Return the sword to its place; for all who take swords will die by swords.

52 Тогда говорит ему Иисус: возврати меч твой в место его, ибо все, взявшие меч, от меча погибнут.

53 Or do you think that I cannot ask of my Father, and he will now raise up for me more than twelve legions of angels?

53 Или ты думаешь, что Я не могу упросить Отца Моего, и Он не даст Мне тотчас же более двенадцати легионов ангелов?

54 How then could the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?

54 Как же исполнятся Писания, что это должно произойти?

55 At that very hour Jesus said to the people, Have you come out with swords and staves to arrest me like a bandit? I sat with you every day, teaching in the temple, and you did not arrest me.

55 В тот час сказал Иисус народу: как на разбойника вышли вы с мечами и кольями задержать Меня; каждый день сидел Я и учил в храме, и вы не взяли Меня.

56 But this has happened so that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him, and fled.

56 Это же всё произошло, чтобы исполнились писания пророков. Тогда все ученики, оставив Его, бежали.

57 And those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had assembled.

57 Взявшие же Иисуса отвели Его к Каиафе первосвященнику, где собраны были книжники и старейшины.

58 But Simon Peter followed him afar off, up to the courtyard of the high priest, and he went inside and sat with the soldiers, to see the end.

58 Петр же следовал за Ним издали, до двора первосвященника; и войдя внутрь, сидел вместе со служителями, чтобы видеть конец.

59 Now the high priests and the elders and the whole council were seeking witnesses against Jesus, so that they might put him to death.

59 Первосвященники же и синедрион в полном составе искали лжесвидетельства против Иисуса, чтобы предать Его смерти.

60 But they could not find any; then there came a great many false witnesses; but at the end two came forward,

60 И не нашли, хотя и много явилось лжесвидетелей. Наконец подошли двое

61 And said, This man said, I can tear down the temple of God, and build it in three days.

61 и сказали: Он говорил: «Я могу разрушить храм Божий и в три дня воздвигнуть его».

62 And the high priest stood up and said to him, You are not answering anything. What is it that these men testify against you?

62 И встав, первосвященник сказал Ему: Ты ничего не отвечаешь? Что они против Тебя свидетельствуют?

63 But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest answered and said to him, I adjure you by the living God, to tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God?

63 Иисус же молчал. И первосвященник сказал Ему: заклинаю Тебя Богом Живым, скажи нам: Ты ли Христос, Сын Божий?

64 Jesus said to him, You say that. But I say to you that from henceforth you will see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the power, and coming upon the clouds of the sky.

64 Говорит ему Иисус: ты сказал. Но Я говорю вам: отныне будете видеть Сына Человеческого, восседающего по правую сторону Силы и грядущего на облаках небесных.

65 The high priest then rent his clothes and said, Behold, he is blaspheming; why therefore do we need witnesses? behold, you have now heard his blasphemy.

65 Тогда первосвященник разодрал одежды свои и сказал: Он произнес хулу! Какая нам еще нужда в свидетелях? Вот теперь вы слышали хулу!

66 What else do you want? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

66 Как вам кажется? Они же ответили: повинен смерти.

67 Then they spat in his face, and struck him on his head, and others beat him,

67 Тогда плюнули Ему в лицо и заушили Его; другие же били Его,

68 Saying, O Christ, prophesy to us; who smote you?

68 говоря: прореки нам, Христос, кто ударил Тебя?

69 Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard; and a maidservant came up to him, and said to him, You also were with Jesus the Nazarene.

69 Петр же сидел снаружи, на дворе. И подошла к нему одна служанка и сказала: и ты был с Иисусом Галилеянином.

70 But he denied it before all of them, and said, I do not understand what you are saying.

70 Но он отрекся перед всеми и сказал: не знаю, что ты говоришь.

71 And as he was going to the porch, another one saw him, and she said to them, This man was also there with Jesus the Nazarene.

71 Когда же он прошел в ворота, увидела его другая, и говорит находящимся там: этот был с Иисусом Назореем.

72 Again he denied it with oaths, I do not know the man.

72 И он снова отрекся с клятвой: я не знаю Этого Человека.

73 After a while, those who were standing came up, and said to Peter, Truly you also are one of them, for even your speech proves it.

73 Немного же спустя подошли стоявшие и сказали Петру: поистине и ты из них, ибо и говор твой обличает тебя.

74 Then he began to curse and to swear, I do not know the man. At that very hour the cock crowed.

74 Тогда начал он усиленно клясться: я не знаю Этого Человека. И тотчас пропел петух.

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which he had said to him, Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. And he went outside and wept bitterly.

75 И вспомнил Петр слово, сказанное Иисусом: прежде чем пропоет петух, ты трижды отречешься от Меня. И выйдя вон, плакал горько.
