Chapter 3

2 And Job347 spoke,6030 and said,559

3 Let the day3117 perish6 wherein I was born,3205 and the night3915 in which it was said,559 There is a man1397 child conceived.2029

4 Let that day3117 be darkness;2822 let not God433 regard1875 it from above,4605 neither408 let the light5105 shine3313 on it.

5 Let darkness2822 and the shadow6757 of death6757 stain1351 it; let a cloud6053 dwell7931 on it; let the blackness3650 of the day3117 terrify1204 it.

6 As for that night,3915 let darkness652 seize3947 on it; let it not be joined2302 to the days3117 of the year,8141 let it not come935 into the number4557 of the months.3391

7 See,2009 let that night3915 be solitary,1565 let no408 joyful7445 voice come935 therein.

8 Let them curse5344 it that curse779 the day,3117 who are ready6264 to raise5782 up their mourning.3882

17 There8033 the wicked7563 cease2308 from troubling;7267 and there8033 the weary3019 be at rest.5117

18 There the prisoners615 rest7599 together;3162 they hear8085 not the voice6963 of the oppressor.5065

25 For the thing which I greatly feared6342 is come857 on me, and that which834 I was afraid3025 of is come935 to me.

26 I was not in safety,7951 neither3808 had I rest,8252 neither3808 was I quiet;5117 yet trouble7267 came.935

1 После этого Аюб заговорил и проклял день, когда он появился на свет.

2 Он сказал:

3 – Пусть сгинет день, когда я родился, и ночь, когда сказали: «Ребёнок зачат!»

4 Пусть тот день станет тьмой; пусть Всевышний не вспомнит о нём, и пусть свет в тот день не сияет.

5 Пусть он достанется мраку и мгле; пусть будет затянут тучей, пусть тьма его свет затмит.

6 Пусть той ночью владеет тьма; пусть не сочтётся она в днях года и не войдёт ни в один из месяцев.

7 Пусть та ночь будет бесплодной, и не раздастся в ней крик радости.

8 Пусть чародеи проклянут её, как проклинают дни, . пусть они разбудят левиафана. .

9 Пусть померкнут звёзды на её заре; пусть ждёт она утра и не дождётся, не увидит первых лучей рассвета

10 за то, что допустила моё зачатие и не скрыла от моих глаз горе.

11 Почему не погиб я при родах и не умер сразу же после рождения?

12 Зачем меня держали на коленях и вскармливали грудью?

13 Я лежал бы сейчас в мире, спал бы себе спокойно,

14 среди царей и мудрецов земли, которые строили себе то, что ныне в руинах,

15 среди правителей, у которых было золото и которые свои дома наполнили серебром.

16 Почему не зарыли меня как мертворождённого, как младенца, который не увидел света?

17 Там прекращается суета неправедных, и утомлённые находят покой.

18 Там отдыхают вместе пленники и не слышат криков смотрителя.

19 Там и малый, и великий равны, и раб свободен перед господином.

20 На что дан страдальцу свет, и жизнь – тому, чья душа скорбит,

21 тому, кто ждёт смерти, но она не идёт, даже если он ищет её усердней, чем клад,

22 тому, кто с радостью и ликованием обрёл бы могилу?

23 Зачем дана жизнь тому, чей путь сокрыт, тому, перед кем поставил преграду Всевышний?

24 Вздохи мои вместо еды; льются стоны мои, как вода.

25 Чего я боялся, то и произошло; чего страшился, то со мной и случилось.

26 Нет мне ни мира, ни покоя; нет мне отдыха, настала смута.
