2 That I have2076 great3173 heaviness3077 and continual88 sorrow3601 in my heart.2588

3 For I could wish2172 that myself846 were accursed331 from Christ5547 for my brothers,80 my kinsmen4773 according2596 to the flesh:4561

4 Who3748 are Israelites;2475 to whom3739 pertains the adoption,5206 and the glory,1391 and the covenants,1242 and the giving3548 of the law,3548 and the service2999 of God, and the promises;1860

5 Whose3739 are the fathers,3962 and of whom3739 as concerning2596 the flesh4561 Christ5547 came, who3588 is over1909 all,3956 God2316 blessed2128 for ever.165 Amen.281

6 Not as though3754 the word3056 of God2316 has taken none1601 effect.1601 For they are not all3956 Israel,2474 which3588 are of Israel:2474

7 Neither,3761 because3754 they are the seed4690 of Abraham,11 are they all3956 children:5043 but, In Isaac2464 shall your seed4690 be called.2564

8 That is, They which are the children5043 of the flesh,4561 these5023 are not the children5043 of God:2316 but the children5043 of the promise1860 are counted3049 for the seed.4690

9 For this3778 is the word3056 of promise,1860 At2596 this5126 time2540 will I come,2064 and Sarah4564 shall have2071 a son.5207

10 And not only3440 this; but when Rebecca4479 also2532 had conceived2845 2192 by one,1520 even by our father3962 Isaac;2464

11 (For the children being not yet3380 born,1080 neither3366 having done4238 any5100 good18 or2228 evil,2556 that the purpose4286 of God2316 according2596 to election1589 might stand,3306 not of works,2041 but of him that calls;2564)

12 It was said4483 to her, The elder3187 shall serve1398 the younger.1640

13 As it is written,1125 Jacob2384 have2071 I loved,25 but Esau2269 have2071 I hated.3404

14 What5101 shall we say2046 then?3767 Is there unrighteousness93 with God?2316 God3361 1096 forbid.3361 1096

15 For he said3004 to Moses,3475 I will have mercy1653 on whom3739 I will have mercy,1653 and I will have compassion3627 on whom3739 I will have compassion.3627

16 So686 then686 it is not of him that wills,2309 nor3761 of him that runs,5143 but of God2316 that shows1653 mercy.1653

17 For the scripture1124 said3004 to Pharaoh,5328 Even for this5124 same846 purpose have I raised1825 you up, that I might show1731 my power1411 in you, and that my name3686 might be declared1229 throughout1722 all3956 the earth.1093

18 Therefore686 3767 has he mercy1653 on whom3739 he will2309 have mercy, and whom3739 he will2309 he hardens.4645

19 You will say2046 then3767 to me, Why5101 does he yet2089 find fault?3201 For who5101 has resisted436 his will?1013

20 No3304 but, O man,444 who5101 are1488 you that reply470 against470 God?2316 Shall the thing4110 formed4110 say2046 to him that formed4110 it, Why5101 have you made4160 me thus?3779

21 Has2192 not the potter2763 power1849 over the clay,4081 of the same846 lump5445 to make4160 one vessel4632 to honor,5092 and another3739 to dishonor?819

22 What if1487 God,2316 willing2309 to show1731 his wrath,3709 and to make1107 his power1415 known,1107 endured5342 with much4183 long-suffering3115 the vessels4632 of wrath3709 fitted2675 to destruction:684

23 And that he might make1107 known1107 the riches4149 of his glory1391 on1909 the vessels4632 of mercy,1656 which3739 he had before4282 prepared4282 to glory,1391

24 Even2532 us, whom3739 he has called,2564 not of the Jews2453 only,3440 but also2532 of the Gentiles?1484

25 As he said3004 also2532 in Osee,5617 I will call2564 them my people,2992 which were not my people;2992 and her beloved,25 which was not beloved.25

26 And it shall come1511 to pass, that in the place5117 where3757 it was said4483 to them, You are not my people;2992 there1563 shall they be called2564 the children5207 of the living2198 God.2316

27 Esaias2268 also1161 cries2896 concerning5228 Israel,2474 Though1437 the number706 of the children5207 of Israel2474 be as the sand285 of the sea,2281 a remnant2640 shall be saved:4982

28 For he will finish4931 the work,3056 and cut4932 it short4932 in righteousness:1343 because3754 a short4932 work3056 will the Lord2962 make4160 on the earth.1093

29 And as Esaias2268 said4280 before,4280 Except1508 the Lord2962 of Sabaoth4519 had left1459 us a seed,4690 we had been1096 as Sodoma,4670 and been made3666 like3666 to Gomorrha.1116

30 What5101 shall we say2046 then?3767 That the Gentiles,1484 which3588 followed1377 not after righteousness,1343 have attained2638 to righteousness,1343 even1161 the righteousness1343 which3588 is of faith.4102

31 But Israel,2474 which followed1377 after the law3551 of righteousness,1343 has not attained5348 to the law3551 of righteousness.1343

32 Why?1302 Because3754 they sought2212 it not by faith,4102 but as it were by the works2041 of the law.3551 For they stumbled4350 at that stumbling stone;3037

33 As it is written,1125 Behold,2400 I lay5087 in Sion4622 a stumbling stone3037 4348 and rock4073 of offense:4625 and whoever3956 3588 believes4100 on1909 him shall not be ashamed.2617

1 Истину говорю во Христе, не лгу: свидетельствует со мною совесть моя в Духе Святом,

2 что великая у меня печаль и непрекращающаяся боль в сердце моем.

3 Ибо хотел бы я сам быть «анафема», отлучённым от Христа, ради братьев моих, сродников моих по плоти.

4 Они Израильтяне; им принадлежит усыновление, и слава, и заветы, и законодательство, и богослужение и обещания;

5 их — отцы, и от них Христос по плоти, Он — над всеми Бог, благословенный вовеки, аминь.

6 Но не то, чтобы слово Божие потеряло силу. Ибо кто — от Израиля, не все они — Израиль.

7 И то, что они семя Авраамово, не значит, что все они — дети; но: в Исааке будет наречено тебе семя.

8 То есть, не все эти плотские дети — дети Божии, но дети обещания считаются семенем.

9 Ибо это слово есть слово обещания: в это время Я приду и будет у Сарры сын.

10 И не только, но и Ревекка, от одного имевшая семя, от Исаака, отца нашего.

11 Ибо когда они еще не были рождены и не сделали ничего доброго или злого — для того, чтобы предустановление Божие, по избранию, пребывало в силе,

12 не от дел, но от Призывающего, — было сказано ей: больший будет рабом меньшего,

13 как написано: Иакова Я возлюбил, а Исава возненавидел.

14 Что же скажем? Неужели у Бога неправда? Отнюдь нет.

15 Ибо Моисею Он говорит: Я помилую того, кого милую, и пожалею того, кого жалею.

16 Значит, дело не в том, кто хочет и стремится, но в милующем Боге.

17 Говорит же Писание Фараону: для того самого Я воздвиг тебя, чтобы показать на тебе силу Мою, и чтобы возвещено было имя Мое по всей земле.

18 Значит Он, кого хочет, милует, а кого хочет, ожесточает.

19 Ты мне скажешь: что же Он еще укоряет? Ибо кто когда противостал Его воле?

20 О человек, кто же ты пререкающийся с Богом? Изваяние скажет ли ваятелю, почему ты меня сделал так?

21 Или не имеет власти горшечник над глиной сделать из одной и той же смеси один сосуд для почётного употребления, другой — для низкого?

22 Что же, если Бог, желая показать гнев и явить могущество Свое, переносил с великим долготерпением сосуды гнева, изготовленные для гибели,

23 чтобы явить богатство славы Своей над сосудами милосердия, которые Он предуготовил к славе,

24 над нами, которых Он призвал не только из Иудеев, но и из язычников?

25 Как Он и Осии говорит: Не-Мой народ назову Моим народом, и не-возлюбленную — возлюбленной;

26 И будет: на том месте, где было сказано им: «вы — не Мой народ», там они названы будут сынами Бога живого.

27 Исаия же взывает об Израиле: Если будет число сынов Израилевых, как песок морской, остаток будет спасён;

28 ибо слово Свое до конца и без промедления совершит Господь на земле.

29 И как предсказал Исаия: Если бы Господь Саваоф не оставил нам семени, мы стали бы как Содом и были бы уподоблены Гоморре.

30 Что же скажем? Скажем, что язычники, не стремившиеся к праведности, достигли праведности: праведности по вере;

31 а Израиль, стремившийся к Закону праведности, до Закона не дошёл.

32 Почему? Потому что он искал его не в вере, а в делах. Они преткнулись о камень преткновения,

33 как написано: Вот, Я полагаю в Сионе камень преткновения и скалу соблазна, и верующий в Него не будет посрамлён.

23 чтобы явить богатство славы Своей над сосудами милосердия, которые Он предуготовил к славе,

31 а Израиль, стремившийся к Закону праведности, до Закона не дошёл.

32 Why?1302 Because3754 they sought2212 it not by faith,4102 but as it were by the works2041 of the law.3551 For they stumbled4350 at that stumbling stone;3037
