3 For I could wish2172 that myself846 were accursed331 from Christ5547 for my brothers,80 my kinsmen4773 according2596 to the flesh:4561

4 Who3748 are Israelites;2475 to whom3739 pertains the adoption,5206 and the glory,1391 and the covenants,1242 and the giving3548 of the law,3548 and the service2999 of God, and the promises;1860

5 Whose3739 are the fathers,3962 and of whom3739 as concerning2596 the flesh4561 Christ5547 came, who3588 is over1909 all,3956 God2316 blessed2128 for ever.165 Amen.281

6 Not as though3754 the word3056 of God2316 has taken none1601 effect.1601 For they are not all3956 Israel,2474 which3588 are of Israel:2474

7 Neither,3761 because3754 they are the seed4690 of Abraham,11 are they all3956 children:5043 but, In Isaac2464 shall your seed4690 be called.2564

8 That is, They which are the children5043 of the flesh,4561 these5023 are not the children5043 of God:2316 but the children5043 of the promise1860 are counted3049 for the seed.4690

9 For this3778 is the word3056 of promise,1860 At2596 this5126 time2540 will I come,2064 and Sarah4564 shall have2071 a son.5207

10 And not only3440 this; but when Rebecca4479 also2532 had conceived2845 2192 by one,1520 even by our father3962 Isaac;2464

16 So686 then686 it is not of him that wills,2309 nor3761 of him that runs,5143 but of God2316 that shows1653 mercy.1653

23 And that he might make1107 known1107 the riches4149 of his glory1391 on1909 the vessels4632 of mercy,1656 which3739 he had before4282 prepared4282 to glory,1391

24 Even2532 us, whom3739 he has called,2564 not of the Jews2453 only,3440 but also2532 of the Gentiles?1484

25 As he said3004 also2532 in Osee,5617 I will call2564 them my people,2992 which were not my people;2992 and her beloved,25 which was not beloved.25

26 And it shall come1511 to pass, that in the place5117 where3757 it was said4483 to them, You are not my people;2992 there1563 shall they be called2564 the children5207 of the living2198 God.2316

27 Esaias2268 also1161 cries2896 concerning5228 Israel,2474 Though1437 the number706 of the children5207 of Israel2474 be as the sand285 of the sea,2281 a remnant2640 shall be saved:4982

28 For he will finish4931 the work,3056 and cut4932 it short4932 in righteousness:1343 because3754 a short4932 work3056 will the Lord2962 make4160 on the earth.1093

29 And as Esaias2268 said4280 before,4280 Except1508 the Lord2962 of Sabaoth4519 had left1459 us a seed,4690 we had been1096 as Sodoma,4670 and been made3666 like3666 to Gomorrha.1116

30 What5101 shall we say2046 then?3767 That the Gentiles,1484 which3588 followed1377 not after righteousness,1343 have attained2638 to righteousness,1343 even1161 the righteousness1343 which3588 is of faith.4102

31 But Israel,2474 which followed1377 after the law3551 of righteousness,1343 has not attained5348 to the law3551 of righteousness.1343

32 Why?1302 Because3754 they sought2212 it not by faith,4102 but as it were by the works2041 of the law.3551 For they stumbled4350 at that stumbling stone;3037

33 As it is written,1125 Behold,2400 I lay5087 in Sion4622 a stumbling stone3037 4348 and rock4073 of offense:4625 and whoever3956 3588 believes4100 on1909 him shall not be ashamed.2617

3 Бо я бажав би сам бути відлу́чений від Христа замість братів моїх, рідних мені тілом;

4 вони ізра́їльтяни, що їм належить сині́вство, і слава, і заповіти, і законода́вство, і богослужба, і обі́тниці,

5 що їхні й отці, і від них же тілом Христос, що Він над усіма́ Бог, благослове́нний, навіки, амі́нь.

6 Не так, щоб Слово Боже не збуло́ся. Бо не всі ті ізра́їльтяни, хто від Ізраїля,

7 і не всі діти Авраамові, хто від насіння його, але: „в Ісаку буде насіння тобі“.

8 Цебто, не тілесні діти — то діти Божі, але діти обі́тниці признаю́ться за насіння.

9 А слово обі́тниці таке: „На той час прийду́, і бу́де син у Сари“.

10 І не тільки це, але й Реве́кка зачала́ дітей від одно́го ложа отця нашого Ісака,

11 бо коли вони ще не народились, і нічо́го доброго чи злого не вчинили, — щоб позоста́лась постанова Божа у вибра́нні

12 не від учинків, але́ від То́го, Хто кличе, — сказано їй: „Більший служитиме меншому“,

13 як і написано: „Полюбив Я Якова, а Ісава знена́видів“.

14 Що ж скажемо? Може в Бога неправда? Зо́всім ні!

15 Бо Він каже Мойсеєві: „Помилую, кого хочу помилувати, і змилосе́рджуся, над ким хочу змилосе́рдитись“.

16 Отож, не залежить це ні від то́го, хто хоче, ні від того, хто біжить, але від Бога, що милує.

17 Бо Писа́ння говорить фараонові: „Власне на те Я поставив тебе, щоб на тобі показати Свою силу, і щоб звістилось по ці́лій землі Моє Йме́ння“.

18 Отож, кого хоче — Він милує, і кого хоче — ожорсто́чує.

19 А ти скажеш мені: „Чого ж іще Він докоря́є, бо хто може проти́витись волі Його?“

20 Отже, хто́ ти, чоловіче, що ти спереча́єшся з Богом? Чи скаже тво́риво творце́ві: Пощо ти зробив мене так?

21 Чи ганча́р не має вла́ди над глиною, щоб із того самого міси́ва зробити одну посу́дину на честь, а одну на нечесть?

22 Тож Бог, бажаючи показати гнів і виявити могутність Свою, щади́в із великим терпінням посу́дини гніву, що готові були на погибіль,

23 і щоб виявити багатство слави Своєї на посудинах милосердя, що їх приготува́в на славу,

24 на нас, що їх і покликав не тільки від юдеїв, але й від поган.

25 Як і в Осії Він говорить: „Назву Своїм наро́дом не людей Моїх, і не улю́блену — улю́бленою,

26 і на місці, де сказано їм: Ви не Мій наро́д, там на́звані будуть синами Бога Живого!“

27 А Ісая взиває про Ізраїля: „Коли б число синів Ізра́їлевих було, як мо́рський пісок, то тільки останок спасеться,

28 бо вирок закінчений та скорочений у праведності учинить Господь на землі!“

29 І як Ісая віщував: „Коли б Госпо́дь Савао́т не лишив нам насіння, то ми стали б, як Содо́м, і подібні були б до Гомо́рри!“

30 Що ж скажемо? Що погани, які не шукали праведности, досягли праведности, тієї праведности, що від віри,

31 а Ізраїль, що шукав Закона праведности, не досяг Закону праведности.

32 Чому́? Бо шукали не з віри, але якби з учинків Зако́ну; вони бо спіткнулись об камінь спотика́ння,
