3 Народ Израиля был Господу святым подарком, стал первым Господа плодом. Все, кто зло замышляли против Моего народа, были осуждены, и наказание постигло их”». Так говорит Господь.
4 Семья Иакова, услышь весть Господа, услышьте, все дома Израиля!
5 Господь так говорит: «Вы думаете, что Я был несправедливым к вашим предкам, и потому вы отвернулись от Меня. Но ваши предки поклонялись ничтожным идолам и сами превратились в ничтожества.
6 Не говорили ли ваши предки, что Господь их вывел из Египта по пустыне сухой и каменистой, где никто не жил, где даже странника не встретить? „Но вёл Господь нас через эти земли. Так где же Он сейчас?”
7 Я вас привёл туда, где плодородна земля, чтоб вы её дарами питались. Я дал вам землю, но вы испортили её и осквернили.
8 Священники не спрашивали: „Где Господь?” Учителя закона Меня знать не хотели, властелины Израиля восстали против Меня, пророки воздавали честь Ваалу и поклонялись идолам ничтожным».
9 «И вот теперь, — сказал Господь, — Я вновь вас обвиню, и также обвиню потомство ваше.
10 Идите через море к Киттимским островам, пошлите кого-нибудь в Кедар и посмотрите: поступает ли кто-нибудь, как вы.
11 Оставил ли какой-нибудь народ своих богов, чтоб поклоняться новым? Нет! Их и богами-то нельзя назвать! Но Мой народ отрёкся от Бога славного и начал поклоняться ничтожным идолам.
12 Смотрите, небеса, и сотрясайтесь в страхе!» Такими были Господа слова:
13 «Народ Мой сотворил два великих зла: он отвернулся от Меня, „источника живой воды”, и вырыл для себя колодцы, но в их колодцах не держится вода.
14 Стал ли народ Израиля рабом? Был ли он рождён, чтобы быть рабом? Нет! Так почему же враги уводят его в неволю?
15 Враги, словно молодые львы, ревут на Израиль, они уничтожили его. Города сожжены, и жителей в них не осталось.
16 Сокрушил тебе темя народ Мемфиса и Тафниса.
17 Все несчастья с вами произошли по вашей собственной вине. Господь, ваш Бог, вёл вас правильным путём, но от Него вы отвернулись.
18 Подумайте же, люди Иуды, была ли польза вам идти в Египет и воду пить из Нила? Каков был прок идти в Ассирию и воду из Евфрата пить?
19 Вы сотворили зло, и за него вас наказание постигнет. Несчастья к вам придут, они уроком будут вам, и вы поймёте, насколько губительно отступать от Господа, Бога вашего, а также не чтить Меня и не благоговеть передо Мной». Так сказал Господь, Бог Всемогущий:
20 «Ты, Иудея, давным-давно вышла из-под Моей власти, словно бык, сбросивший своё ярмо и разорвавший сдерживавшие его узы. Ты сказала: „Не буду Тебе более служить”. Но в то же время на холмах высоких и под деревьями ты предавалась блуду со своими лжебогами.
21 Я, Иудея, насаждал тебя словно благодатный виноградник. Ты семенами лучшими была. Но как же превратилась ты в другую лозу, рождающую дикий виноград?
22 И даже если щёлоком умоешь ты себя и истратишь много мыла, Я всё равно смогу увидеть вину твою». Так говорит Господь:
23 «Как ты могла сказать мне, Иудея: „Я невиновна. Я не поклонялась идолам Ваала?” Вспомни, что ты делала в долине, как вела себя, подобно резвой верблюдице, перебегающей от места к месту.
24 Ты словно дикая ослица в пору вожделения, когда она ноздрями воздух вдыхает и никто не может её обуздать. В это время любой осёл, который её пожелает, её легко найдёт.
25 Иудея, достаточно тебе гоняться за идолами! Перестань желать их! Но отвечаешь ты: „Нет, ничто мне не поможет, я люблю чужих богов, и я хочу им поклоняться”.
26 Стыдится вор, когда его поймали, и так же стыдно должно быть и людям Иудеи: царям, правителям, священникам, пророкам.
27 Они обломку дерева говорят: „Ты мой отец” и камню молвят: „Ты дал мне жизнь”. Им стыдно будет всем, так как они ко Мне спиною повернулись. Но стоит лишь народу Иудеи попасть в беду, как они ко Мне взывают, чтобы Я пришёл и спас их.
28 Пусть идолы твои придут спасти тебя. Где они, вами сотворённые? Давай посмотрим, как эти идолы придут спасать тебя, когда нагрянет беда. Иудея, у тебя столько богов, сколько в тебе городов.
29 Почему вы спорите со Мной? Вы все против Меня восстали». Так говорит Господь:
30 «Я наказал вас, люди Иудеи, но это вам не помогло, вы не вернулись ко Мне. Вы мечами изрубили пророков, к вам пришедших, вы, как львы, их истребили».
31 Все ныне живущие, услышьте слова Господние: «Разве Я был пустыней для Израиля, был ли Я опасною и тёмною землёй для них? Но мой народ мне отвечает: „Мы свободны и поэтому пойдём своим путём. К тебе, Господь, мы не вернёмся”. Почему они так говорят?
32 Не забывает девушка о своих украшениях, невеста не забудет о свадебном платье, но обо Мне народ Мой так часто забывал, что этого не счесть.
33 Ты, Иудея, знаешь, как себе любовников найти, ты вправду научилась делать зло.
34 Кровь на твоих руках, кровь бедных и невинных. Ведь ты никого из них во время преступления не поймала, но всё равно их без причины убивала.
35 И всё же ты твердишь: „Я не виновна, Бог на меня не сердится”. Тебя Я тоже обвиню во лжи за то, что говоришь: „Я не грешна”.
36 В поисках защиты ты странствовала из страны в страну: в Ассирии ты разочаровалась и помощи искать пошла в Египет, но и Египет тебя разочарует.
37 И, спрятав от стыда своё лицо, покинешь ты Египет. Доверяла ты этим странам, но Господь отверг их. Они твоей победе не помогут».

26 Стыдится вор, когда его поймали, и так же стыдно должно быть и людям Иудеи: царям, правителям, священникам, пророкам.
