Chapter 20

1 IN the year that Tartan came to Ashdod (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him) and fought against Ashdod and took it,

2 At that time the LORD spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off your loins and put off your shoes from your feet. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

3 And the Lord said, As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot, so shall there be signs and wonders for three years upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

5 And they shall be defeated and ashamed of Ethiopia their trust, and of Egypt their glory.

6 And the inhabitants of this isle shall say on that day, Behold, here is our trust, to whom we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?

2 zur selbigen Zeit6256 redete1696 der HErr3068 durch Jesaja3470, den Sohn1121 Amoz531, und sprach559: Gehe3212 hin und zieh ab den Sack8242 von3027 deinen Lenden4975 und zieh deine Schuhe5275 aus2502 von deinen Füßen7272. Und er tat6605 also6213, ging1980 nackend und barfuß3182.

3 Da sprach559 der HErr3068: Gleichwie mein Knecht5650 Jesaja3470 nackend und barfuß3182 gehet1980 zum Zeichen226 und Wunder4159 dreier7969 Jahre8141 über Ägypten4714 und Mohrenland3568,

4 also wird5090 der König4428 zu Assyrien804 hintreiben das gefangene7628 Ägypten4714 und vertriebene1546 Mohrenland3568, beide jung5288 und alt2205, nackend und barfuß3182, mit bloßer Scham6172, zu Schanden Ägyptens4714.

5 Und sie werden954 erschrecken und mit Schanden bestehen über dem Mohrenlande3568, darauf sie sich2865 verließen4007, und wiederum das Mohrenland über den Ägyptern4714, welcher sie sich8597 rühmeten.

6 Und die Einwohner3427 dieser Inseln339 werden5127 sagen559 zur selbigen Zeit3117: Ist das3541 unsere Zuversicht, da wir4007 hinflohen um Hilfe5833, daß wir errettet würden5337 von6440 dem Könige4428 zu Assyrien804? Wie fein sind wir entronnen4422!
