Chapter 22

1 AND it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham and said to him, Abraham. And he said, Behold, here I am.

2 And he said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of the Amorites; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I will tell you.

3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning and saddled his ass and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son, and cut wood for the burnt offering and rose up and went to the place of which God had told him.

4 And on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place afar off.

5 And he said to his young men, You stay here with the ass, and I and the boy will go yonder to worship and return to you.

6 And Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it upon Isaac his son, and he took the fire in a container and a knife in his hand, and they went both of them together.

7 And Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, My father. And he answered. Here I am, my son. And Isaac said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

8 And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son. So they went both of them together.

9 And they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built an altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10 Then Abraham stretched forth his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

11 And the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said. Abraham! Abraham! And he said, Here am I.

12 And he said to him, Do not lay your hand on the boy, neither shall you harm him; for now I know that you are a man who reveres God, seeing that you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold a ram caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

14 And Abraham called the name of that place Mariah-nekhzey, that is, the LORD will provide, as it is said to this day on this mountain, The LORD shall provide.

15 And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time

16 And said, I have sworn by myself, says the LORD, for because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, from me,

17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is on the sea shore; and your descendants shall inherit the lands of their enemies;

18 And by your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because you have obeyed my voice.

19 So Abraham returned to his young men and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba, and Abraham dwelt in Beer-sheba.

20 And it came to pass after these things that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah has also borne children to your brother Nahor:

21 Uz his first-born, Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,

22 And Khasar, Hazo, Pilrash, Jarlaph, and Bethuel.

23 And Bethuel begot Rebekah; these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

24 And his concubine, whose name was Romah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Thahash, and Maachah.

1 Спустя какое-то время Всевышний подверг Ибрахима испытанию. Он сказал ему: – Ибрахим! – Я здесь, – ответил Ибрахим.

2 Всевышний сказал: – Возьми сына, своего единственного обещанного Мной сына Исхака, которого ты любишь, иди в землю Мория и принеси его там в жертву всесожжения на горе, на которую Я укажу тебе.

3 На другой день рано утром Ибрахим встал, оседлал осла, взял с собой двух слуг и сына Исхака, нарубил дров для всесожжения и отправился в путь к тому месту, о котором сказал ему Всевышний.

4 На третий день Ибрахим поднял взгляд и увидел вдали то место.

5 Он сказал слугам: – Оставайтесь здесь с ослом, а мы с мальчиком пойдём туда и совершим поклонение, а потом вернёмся к вам.

6 Ибрахим взял дрова для всесожжения и положил их на спину Исхаку, а сам понёс огонь и нож, и они вдвоём отправились в путь.

7 Исхак нарушил молчание и сказал своему отцу Ибрахиму: – Отец! – Да, сын мой? – ответил Ибрахим. – У нас есть огонь и дрова, – сказал Исхак, – но где же ягнёнок для всесожжения?

8 Ибрахим ответил: – Всевышний Сам усмотрит ягнёнка для всесожжения, сын мой. И они вдвоём пошли дальше.

9 Когда они добрались до места, о котором сказал ему Всевышний, Ибрахим построил там жертвенник и сложил на нём дрова, связал своего сына Исхака и положил его на жертвенник поверх дров.

10 Он протянул руку и взял нож, чтобы заколоть сына.

11 Но Ангел Вечного воззвал к нему с неба: – Ибрахим! Ибрахим! – Я здесь, – ответил он.

12 – Не поднимай руки на мальчика, – сказал Ангел, – не делай с ним ничего. Теперь Я знаю, что ты боишься Всевышнего, потому что ты не пожалел для Меня сына, своего единственного обещанного Мной сына.

13 Ибрахим поднял взгляд и увидел барана, который запутался рогами в зарослях. Он пошёл, взял барана и принёс его в жертву всесожжения вместо сына.

14 Ибрахим назвал то место «Вечный усмотрит», . и оттого и доныне говорится: «На горе Вечного усмотрится».

15 Ангел Вечного воззвал к Ибрахиму с неба во второй раз

16 и сказал: – Клянусь Самим Собой, возвещает Вечный: раз ты сделал это и не пожалел для Меня сына, единственного, кто был обещан тебе Мной,

17 то Я непременно благословлю тебя и сделаю твоё потомство многочисленным, как звёзды на небе, как песок на морском берегу; и твоё потомство овладеет городами своих врагов,

18 и через твоё потомство получат благословение все народы на земле, потому что ты послушался Меня.

19 Ибрахим возвратился к слугам, и они вместе отправились в Беэр-Шеву; и Ибрахим остался в Беэр-Шеве.

20 Прошло время, и Ибрахиму сказали: – Милка тоже стала матерью, родила сыновей твоему брату Нахору:

21 Уца первенца, Буза, его брата, Кемуила (отца Арама),

22 Кеседа, Хазо, Пилдаша, Идлафа и Бетуила.

23 Бетуил стал отцом Рабиги. Этих восьмерых сыновей Милка родила Нахору, брату Ибрахима.

24 Его наложница по имени Реума, тоже родила ему сыновей: Теваха, Гахама, Тахаша и Мааху.

1 AND it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham and said to him, Abraham. And he said, Behold, here I am.

2 And he said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of the Amorites; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I will tell you.

2 Всевышний сказал: – Возьми сына, своего единственного обещанного Мной сына Исхака, которого ты любишь, иди в землю Мория и принеси его там в жертву всесожжения на горе, на которую Я укажу тебе.

3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning and saddled his ass and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son, and cut wood for the burnt offering and rose up and went to the place of which God had told him.

3 На другой день рано утром Ибрахим встал, оседлал осла, взял с собой двух слуг и сына Исхака, нарубил дров для всесожжения и отправился в путь к тому месту, о котором сказал ему Всевышний.

4 And on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place afar off.

4 На третий день Ибрахим поднял взгляд и увидел вдали то место.

5 And he said to his young men, You stay here with the ass, and I and the boy will go yonder to worship and return to you.

5 Он сказал слугам: – Оставайтесь здесь с ослом, а мы с мальчиком пойдём туда и совершим поклонение, а потом вернёмся к вам.

6 And Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it upon Isaac his son, and he took the fire in a container and a knife in his hand, and they went both of them together.

6 Ибрахим взял дрова для всесожжения и положил их на спину Исхаку, а сам понёс огонь и нож, и они вдвоём отправились в путь.

7 And Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, My father. And he answered. Here I am, my son. And Isaac said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

7 Исхак нарушил молчание и сказал своему отцу Ибрахиму: – Отец! – Да, сын мой? – ответил Ибрахим. – У нас есть огонь и дрова, – сказал Исхак, – но где же ягнёнок для всесожжения?

8 And Abraham said, God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son. So they went both of them together.

8 Ибрахим ответил: – Всевышний Сам усмотрит ягнёнка для всесожжения, сын мой. И они вдвоём пошли дальше.

9 And they came to the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built an altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

9 Когда они добрались до места, о котором сказал ему Всевышний, Ибрахим построил там жертвенник и сложил на нём дрова, связал своего сына Исхака и положил его на жертвенник поверх дров.

10 Then Abraham stretched forth his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

11 And the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said. Abraham! Abraham! And he said, Here am I.

11 Но Ангел Вечного воззвал к нему с неба: – Ибрахим! Ибрахим! – Я здесь, – ответил он.

12 And he said to him, Do not lay your hand on the boy, neither shall you harm him; for now I know that you are a man who reveres God, seeing that you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.

12 – Не поднимай руки на мальчика, – сказал Ангел, – не делай с ним ничего. Теперь Я знаю, что ты боишься Всевышнего, потому что ты не пожалел для Меня сына, своего единственного обещанного Мной сына.

13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold a ram caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

13 Ибрахим поднял взгляд и увидел барана, который запутался рогами в зарослях. Он пошёл, взял барана и принёс его в жертву всесожжения вместо сына.

14 And Abraham called the name of that place Mariah-nekhzey, that is, the LORD will provide, as it is said to this day on this mountain, The LORD shall provide.

14 Ибрахим назвал то место «Вечный усмотрит», . и оттого и доныне говорится: «На горе Вечного усмотрится».

15 And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time

15 Ангел Вечного воззвал к Ибрахиму с неба во второй раз

16 And said, I have sworn by myself, says the LORD, for because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son, from me,

16 и сказал: – Клянусь Самим Собой, возвещает Вечный: раз ты сделал это и не пожалел для Меня сына, единственного, кто был обещан тебе Мной,

17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is on the sea shore; and your descendants shall inherit the lands of their enemies;

17 то Я непременно благословлю тебя и сделаю твоё потомство многочисленным, как звёзды на небе, как песок на морском берегу; и твоё потомство овладеет городами своих врагов,

18 And by your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because you have obeyed my voice.

18 и через твоё потомство получат благословение все народы на земле, потому что ты послушался Меня.

19 So Abraham returned to his young men and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba, and Abraham dwelt in Beer-sheba.

19 Ибрахим возвратился к слугам, и они вместе отправились в Беэр-Шеву; и Ибрахим остался в Беэр-Шеве.

20 And it came to pass after these things that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah has also borne children to your brother Nahor:

20 Прошло время, и Ибрахиму сказали: – Милка тоже стала матерью, родила сыновей твоему брату Нахору:

21 Uz his first-born, Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,

21 Уца первенца, Буза, его брата, Кемуила (отца Арама),

22 And Khasar, Hazo, Pilrash, Jarlaph, and Bethuel.

22 Кеседа, Хазо, Пилдаша, Идлафа и Бетуила.

23 And Bethuel begot Rebekah; these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

23 Бетуил стал отцом Рабиги. Этих восьмерых сыновей Милка родила Нахору, брату Ибрахима.

24 And his concubine, whose name was Romah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Thahash, and Maachah.
