1 And the famine7458 was sore3515 in the land.776

2 And it came to pass,1961 when834 they had eaten up3615 398 853 the corn7668 which834 they had brought935 out of Egypt,4480 4714 their father1 said559 unto413 them, Go again,7725 buy7666 us a little4592 food.400

3 And Judah3063 spoke559 unto413 him, saying,559 The man376 did solemnly protest5749 5749 unto us, saying,559 Ye shall not3808 see7200 my face,6440 except1115 your brother251 be with854 you.

4 If518 thou wilt3426 send7971 853 our brother251 with854 us, we will go down3381 and buy7666 thee food: 400

5 But if518 thou wilt not369 send7971 him, we will not3808 go down:3381 for3588 the man376 said559 unto413 us, Ye shall not3808 see7200 my face,6440 except1115 your brother251 be with854 you.

6 And Israel3478 said,559 Wherefore4100 dealt ye so ill7489 with me, as to tell5046 the man376 whether ye had yet5750 a brother?251

7 And they said,559 The man376 asked us straitly7592 7592 of our state, and of our kindred,4138 saying,559 Is your father1 yet5750 alive?2416 have3426 ye another brother?251 and we told5046 him according to5921 the tenor6310 of these428 words:1697 could we certainly know3045 3045 that3588 he would say,559 Bring your brother down?3381 853 251

9 I595 will be surety6148 for him; of my hand4480 3027 shalt thou require1245 him: if518 I bring935 him not3808 unto413 thee, and set3322 him before6440 thee, then let me bear the blame2398 forever:3605 3117

10 For3588 except3884 we had lingered,4102 surely3588 now6258 we had returned7725 this2088 second time.6471

11 And their father1 Israel3478 said559 unto413 them, If518 it must be so3651 now,645 do6213 this;2063 take3947 of the best fruits4480 2173 in the land776 in your vessels,3627 and carry down3381 the man376 a present,4503 a little4592 balm,6875 and a little4592 honey,1706 spices,5219 and myrrh,3910 nuts,992 and almonds: 8247

13 Take3947 also your brother,251 and arise,6965 go again7725 unto413 the man: 376

14 And God410 Almighty7706 give5414 you mercy7356 before6440 the man,376 that he may send away7971 853 your other312 brother,251 and Benjamin.1144 If834 I589 be bereaved7921 of my children, I am bereaved.7921

15 And the men376 took3947 853 that2063 present,4503 and they took3947 double4932 money3701 in their hand,3027 and Benjamin;1144 and rose up,6965 and went down3381 to Egypt,4714 and stood5975 before6440 Joseph.3130

16 And when Joseph3130 saw7200 853 Benjamin1144 with854 them, he said559 to the ruler of834 5921 his house,1004 Bring935 853 these men376 home,1004 and slay,2873 2874 and make ready;3559 for3588 these men376 shall dine398 with854 me at noon.6672

17 And the man376 did6213 as834 Joseph3130 bade;559 and the man376 brought935 853 the men376 into Joseph's3130 house.1004

18 And the men376 were afraid,3372 because3588 they were brought935 into Joseph's3130 house;1004 and they said,559 Because of5921 1697 the money3701 that was returned7725 in our sacks572 at the first time8462 are we587 brought in;935 that he may seek occasion1556 against5921 us, and fall5307 upon5921 us, and take3947 us for bondmen,5650 and our asses.2543

19 And they came near5066 to413 the steward376 834 5921 of Joseph's3130 house,1004 and they communed1696 with413 him at the door6607 of the house,1004

20 And said,559 O994 sir,113 we came indeed down3381 3381 at the first time8462 to buy7666 food: 400

21 And it came to pass,1961 when3588 we came935 to413 the inn,4411 that we opened6605 853 our sacks,572 and, behold,2009 every man's376 money3701 was in the mouth6310 of his sack,572 our money3701 in full weight:4948 and we have brought it again7725 853 in our hand.3027

22 And other312 money3701 have we brought down3381 in our hands3027 to buy7666 food:400 we cannot3808 tell3045 who4310 put7760 our money3701 in our sacks.572

23 And he said,559 Peace7965 be to you, fear3372 not:408 your God,430 and the God430 of your father,1 hath given5414 you treasure4301 in your sacks:572 I had935 your money.3701 And he brought Simeon out3318 853 8095 unto413 them.

24 And the man376 brought935 853 the men376 into Joseph's3130 house,1004 and gave5414 them water,4325 and they washed7364 their feet;7272 and he gave5414 their asses2543 provender.4554

25 And they made ready3559 853 the present4503 against5704 Joseph3130 came935 at noon:6672 for3588 they heard8085 that3588 they should eat398 bread3899 there.8033

30 And Joseph3130 made haste;4116 for3588 his bowels7356 did yearn3648 upon413 his brother:251 and he sought1245 where to weep;1058 and he entered into935 his chamber,2315 and wept1058 there.8033

31 And he washed7364 his face,6440 and went out,3318 and refrained himself,662 and said,559 Set on7760 bread.3899

32 And they set on7760 for him by himself,905 and for them by themselves,905 and for the Egyptians,4713 which did eat398 with854 him, by themselves:905 because3588 the Egyptians4713 might3201 not3808 eat398 bread3899 with854 the Hebrews;5680 for3588 that1931 is an abomination8441 unto the Egyptians.4714

34 And he took5375 and sent messes4864 unto413 them from4480 854 before6440 him: but Benjamin's1144 mess4864 was five times so much as7235 4480 4864 2568 3027 any3605 of theirs. And they drank,8354 and were merry7937 with5973 him.

3 Иуда сказал ему в ответ: тот человек решительно сказал нам: не увидите лица моего, если брата вашего не будет с вами.

4 Если ты пошлешь с нами брата нашего, то мы пойдем, и купим тебе хлеба.

5 А если не пошлешь, то не пойдем; ибо тот человек сказал нам: не увидите лица моего, если брата вашего не будет с вами.

6 Израиль сказал: для чего же вы мне сделали такое зло, сказав тому человеку, что у вас есть еще брат?

7 Они отвечали: он спрашивал нас об нас и о родстве нашем, говоря: жив ли у вас отец? есть ли у вас брат? и мы рассказали ему по случаю сих вопросов. Могли ли мы знать, что он скажет: приведите брата вашего?

8 Иуда же сказал Израилю, отцу своему: отпусти отрока со мною; и мы встанем и пойдем; и тем сохраним жизнь нашу, и не умрем мы и ты, и малые дети наши.

9 Я отвечаю за него, из моих рук требуй его. Если я не приведу его к тебе, и не поставлю его пред лицем твоим, - пусть останусь я виновным пред тобою на всю жизнь.

10 Если бы мы не откладывали, то уже сходили бы два раза.

11 Наконец Израиль, отец их, сказал им: если так, то вот что сделайте: возьмите лучших произведений этой земли в сосуды ваши, и отнесите в дар тому человеку несколько бальзама, несколько меду, стираксы, ладану, фисташковых и миндальных орехов.

12 Возьмите и другое серебро в руки ваши; а серебро, обратно положенное в отверстие мешков ваших, возвратите руками вашими: может быть, это ошибка.

13 Возьмите и брата вашего, и, восстав, подите опять к тому человеку.

14 Бог же Всемогущий да даст вам обрести милость у того человека, чтобы он отпустил вам и оставшегося брата вашего, и Вениамина. А мне, если уже быть бездетным, то пусть буду бездетным.

15 Тогда они взяли дары те, и другое серебро взяли в руки свои, и Вениамина, и встали, и пошли в Египет и предстали пред лице Иосифа

16 Иосиф, увидя между ними Вениамина, сказал управляющему домом своим: введи сих людей в дом, заколи что-нибудь из скота, и приготовь, потому что они будут обедать у меня в полдень.

17 Он сделал, как сказал Иосиф, и ввел их в дом Иосифов,

18 Они испугались того, что ввели их в дом Иосифов, и сказали: это за серебро, возвращенное прежде в мешки наши, ведут нас, чтобы придраться к нам, и напасть на нас, и взять нас в рабство, и ослов наших.

19 Итак, они подошли к управляющему домом Иосифовым и начали говорить ему у дверей дома,

20 И сказали: послушай, господин мой, мы приходили уже прежде покупать хлеба.

21 И случилось, что, пришедши на ночлег и открыв мешки наши, мы увидели серебро в отверстии мешка у каждого из нас, по весу серебро наше, и мы возвращаем его своими руками.

22 А для покупки хлеба мы принесли другое серебро в руках наших. Мы не знаем, кто положил серебро наше в мешки наши.

23 Он отвечал: будьте спокойны и не бойтесь. Бог ваш и Бог отца вашего дал вам клад в мешках ваших; серебро ваше дошло до меня. Потом привел к ним Симеона.

24 И ввел их в дом Иосифов, и дал воды, и они омыли ноги свои; и дал корму ослам их.

25 К тому времени как придти Иосифу, в полдень, они приготовили дары; ибо слышали, что тут будут обедать.

26 И когда пришел Иосиф в дом, они принесли к нему в дом дары, бывшие в руках их, и поклонились ему до земли.

27 Он спросил их о благосостоянии и сказал: здравствует ли отец ваш, старец, о котором вы сказывали? жив ли еще он?

28 Они отвечали: здравствует раб твой, отец наш; еще жив. Они поклонились и простерлись.

29 И возведши очи свои, Иосиф увидел Вениамина, брата своего, сына матери своей, и сказал: это брат ваш меньший, о котором вы мне сказывали? И сказал: милость Божия с тобою, сын мой!

30 И поспешил Иосиф удалиться, потому что воскипело сердце его при виде брата его; он искал места плакать, и, войдя во внутреннюю комнату, плакал там.

31 Потом умыл лице свое, вышел и скрепился, и сказал: подавайте пищу.

32 И подали ему особо, им особо, Египтянам, обедающим с ним, также особо: ибо Египтяне не могут есть с Евреями; потому что Египтяне отвращаются от сего.

33 И были они посажены пред ним, старшие по старшинству своему, и младшие по их молодости; так что они дивились между собою.

34 И послал им части от себя; Вениамину же дал часть впятеро больше частей всех их. И пили у него и напились.
