1 And it came to pass,1961 that3588 when Isaac3327 was old,2204 and his eyes5869 were dim,3543 so that he could not see,4480 7200 he called7121 853 Esau6215 his eldest1419 son,1121 and said559 unto413 him, My son:1121 and he said559 unto413 him, Behold,2009 here am I.

2 And he said,559 Behold2009 now,4994 I am old,2204 I know3045 not3808 the day3117 of my death: 4194

3 Now6258 therefore take,5375 I pray thee,4994 thy weapons,3627 thy quiver8522 and thy bow,7198 and go out3318 to the field,7704 and take6679 me some venison;6718

4 And make6213 me savory meat,4303 such as834 I love,157 and bring935 it to me, that I may eat;398 that5668 my soul5315 may bless1288 thee before2962 I die.4191

7 Bring935 me venison,6718 and make6213 me savory meat,4303 that I may eat,398 and bless1288 thee before6440 the LORD3068 before6440 my death.4194

8 Now6258 therefore, my son,1121 obey8085 my voice6963 according to that which834 I589 command6680 thee.

9 Go1980 now4994 to413 the flock,6629 and fetch3947 me from thence4480 8033 two8147 good2896 kids1423 of the goats;5795 and I will make6213 them savory meat4303 for thy father,1 such as834 he loveth: 157

10 And thou shalt bring935 it to thy father,1 that he may eat,398 and that5668 834 he may bless1288 thee before6440 his death.4194

11 And Jacob3290 said559 to413 Rebekah7259 his mother,517 Behold,2005 Esau6215 my brother251 is a hairy8163 man,376 and I595 am a smooth2509 man: 376

12 My father1 peradventure194 will feel4959 me, and I shall seem1961 to him5869 as a deceiver;8591 and I shall bring935 a curse7045 upon5921 me, and not3808 a blessing.1293

13 And his mother517 said559 unto him, Upon5921 me be thy curse,7045 my son:1121 only389 obey8085 my voice,6963 and go1980 fetch3947 me them.

14 And he went,1980 and fetched,3947 and brought935 them to his mother:517 and his mother517 made6213 savory meat,4303 such as834 his father1 loved.157

20 And Isaac3327 said559 unto413 his son,1121 How4100 is it2088 that thou hast found4672 it so quickly,4116 my son?1121 And he said,559 Because3588 the LORD3068 thy God430 brought7136 it to6440 me.

21 And Isaac3327 said559 unto413 Jacob,3290 Come near,5066 I pray thee,4994 that I may feel4184 thee, my son,1121 whether thou859 be my very2088 son1121 Esau6215 or518 not.3808

22 And Jacob3290 went near5066 unto413 Isaac3327 his father;1 and he felt4959 him, and said,559 The voice6963 is Jacob's3290 voice,6963 but the hands3027 are the hands3027 of Esau.6215

23 And he discerned5234 him not,3808 because3588 his hands3027 were1961 hairy,8163 as his brother251 Esau's6215 hands:3027 so he blessed1288 him.

24 And he said,559 Art thou859 my very2088 son1121 Esau?6215 And he said,559 I589 am.

25 And he said,559 Bring it near5066 to me, and I will eat398 of my son's1121 venison,4480 6718 that4616 my soul5315 may bless1288 thee. And he brought it near5066 to him, and he did eat:398 and he brought935 him wine,3196 and he drank.8354

30 And it came to pass,1961 as soon as834 Isaac3327 had made an end3615 of blessing1288 853 Jacob,3290 and Jacob3290 was1961 yet389 scarce gone out3318 3318 from4480 854 the presence6440 of Isaac3327 his father,1 that Esau6215 his brother251 came in935 from his hunting.4480 6718

31 And he1931 also1571 had made6213 savory meat,4303 and brought935 it unto his father,1 and said559 unto his father,1 Let my father1 arise,6965 and eat398 of his son's1121 venison,4480 6718 that5668 thy soul5315 may bless1288 me.

32 And Isaac3327 his father1 said559 unto him, Who4310 art thou?859 And he said,559 I589 am thy son,1121 thy firstborn1060 Esau.6215

33 And Isaac3327 trembled2729 very exceedingly,2731 1419 5704 3966 and said,559 Who?4310 where645 is he1931 that hath taken6679 venison,6718 and brought935 it me, and I have eaten398 of all4480 3605 before2962 thou camest,935 and have blessed1288 him? yea,1571 and he shall be1961 blessed.1288

34 And when Esau6215 heard8085 853 the words1697 of his father,1 he cried6817 with a great1419 and5704 exceeding3966 bitter4751 cry,6818 and said559 unto his father,1 Bless1288 me, even me589 also,1571 O my father.1

35 And he said,559 Thy brother251 came935 with subtlety,4820 and hath taken away3947 thy blessing.1293

36 And he said,559 Is not he rightly3588 named7121 8034 Jacob?3290 for he hath supplanted6117 me these2088 two times:6471 he took away3947 853 my birthright;1062 and, behold,2009 now6258 he hath taken away3947 my blessing.1293 And he said,559 Hast thou not3808 reserved680 a blessing1293 for me?

37 And Isaac3327 answered6030 and said559 unto Esau,6215 Behold,2005 I have made7760 him thy lord,1376 and all3605 his brethren251 have I given5414 to him for servants;5650 and with corn1715 and wine8492 have I sustained5564 him: and what4100 shall I do6213 now645 unto thee, my son?1121

38 And Esau6215 said559 unto413 his father,1 Hast thou but one259 blessing,1293 my father?1 bless1288 me, even me589 also,1571 O my father.1 And Esau6215 lifted up5375 his voice,6963 and wept.1058

39 And Isaac3327 his father1 answered6030 and said559 unto413 him, Behold,2009 thy dwelling4186 shall be1961 the fatness4480 4924 of the earth,776 and of the dew4480 2919 of heaven8064 from above;4480 5920

41 And Esau6215 hated7852 853 Jacob3290 because of5921 the blessing1293 wherewith834 his father1 blessed1288 him: and Esau6215 said559 in his heart,3820 The days3117 of mourning60 for my father1 are at hand;7126 then will I slay2026 853 my brother251 Jacob.3290

42 And853 these words1697 of Esau6215 her elder1419 son1121 were told5046 to Rebekah:7259 and she sent7971 and called7121 Jacob3290 her younger6996 son,1121 and said559 unto413 him, Behold,2009 thy brother251 Esau,6215 as touching thee, doth comfort himself,5162 purposing to kill2026 thee.

43 Now6258 therefore, my son,1121 obey8085 my voice;6963 and arise,6965 flee1272 thou to413 Laban3837 my brother251 to Haran;2771

3 А тепер візьми знаряддя своє, — сагайдака свого й лука свого, та й вийди на поле, і злови мені здо́бич мисливську.

4 І зготуй мені наїдок смачний, як я люблю́, і принеси мені, і нехай я з'їм, щоб поблагословила тебе душа моя, поки помру“.

5 А Ревека чула, як говорив Ісак до Ісава, сина свого. І пішов Ісав на поле, щоб зловити й принести здобич мисливську.

6 А Ревека сказала Якову, синові своєму, говорячи: „Ось я чула, як твій ба́тько казав до Ісава, брата твого, говорячи:

7 „Принеси но здобич мисливську мені, і зроби мені наїдок смачний, — нехай з'їм, і поблагословлю тебе перед лицем Господнім перед смертю своєю“.

8 А тепер, сину мій, послухай мого голосу, те, що я розкажу́ тобі.

9 Іди до отари, і візьми мені звідти двоє добрих козлят, а я їх приготую, як наїдок смачний для батька твого, як він любить.

10 І принесеш батькові своєму, і бу́де він їсти, щоб поблагословити тебе перед смертю своєю“.

11 І промовив Яків до Ревеки, матері своєї: „Таж брат мій Ісав — чоловік волохатий, а я — чоловік гладенький!

12 Може обмацає мене батько мій, і я стану в очах його як обманець, і спроваджу на себе прокля́ття, а не благослове́ння“.

13 І сказала йому його мати: „На мені прокляття твоє, сину мій! Тільки послухай слів моїх, та йди принеси мені“.

14 І пішов він, і взяв, і приніс своїй матері. І зробила мати його наїдок смачни́й, як любив його ба́тько.

15 I взяла Ревека гарні вбрання́ свого старшого сина Ісава, що були в домі з нею, і вбрала молодшого сина свого Якова.

16 А шкури козлят наділа на руки йому, і на гладеньку шию його.

17 І дала смачний наїдок та хліб, що вона спорядила, у руку Якова, сина свого.

18 І прибув він до ба́тька свого та й сказав: „Батьку мій!“ А той відказав: „Ось я. Хто ти, мій сину?“

19 А Яків промовив до батька свого: „Я Ісав перворідний. Я зробив, як сказав ти мені. Уставай, сядь і попоїж із здо́бичі мисливської, щоб душа́ твоя поблагословила мене“.

20 І сказав Ісак до сина свого: „Як це ти так швидко знайшов, сину мій?“ А той відказав: „Бо мені допоміг Господь, Бог твій“.

21 І промовив Ісак до Якова: „Підійди но, і нехай я обмацаю тебе, сину мій, чи ти — це син мій Ісав, чи ні“.

22 І підійшов Яків до Ісака, батька свого. А той обмацав його та й сказав: „Голос — голос Яковів, а руки — руки Ісавові“.

23 І не впізнав він його, бо були́ його руки — як руки Ісава, брата його, волохаті, і поблагословив він його.

24 І сказав він: „То ти син мій Ісав?“ А той відказав: „Я“.

25 І промовив Ісак: „Подай же мені, і нехай з'їм з мисливської здо́бичі сина мого, щоб поблагословила тебе душа моя“. І подав він йому, і він їв, і приніс йому вина, і він пив.

26 І промовив до нього Ісак, його батько: „Підійди ж, і поцілуй мене, сину мій!“

27 І він підійшов, і поцілував його. А той понюхав запах вбрання його, і поблагословив його, та й сказав: „Дивись, запах сина мого — немов запах поля, що його Господь благословив!

28 І хай Бог тобі дасть з роси Неба, і з ситости землі, і збіжжя багато й вина молодого!

29 Нехай тобі служать наро́ди, і народи нехай тобі кланяються! Будь паном для бра́ттів своїх, і нехай тобі кланяються сини матері твоєї. Хто тебе проклинає — прокля́тий, а хто поблагосло́вить тебе — благослове́нний!“

30 І сталося, як закінчив був Ісак благословляти Якова, і сталося, тільки но вийшов був Яків від обличчя Ісака, батька свого, аж Ісав, його брат, прийшов з полюва́ння свого.

31 І також він приготовив наїдок смачний, і батьку своєму приніс. І сказав він до батька свого: „Нехай встане мій батько, і хай їсть із здобичі мисливської сина свого, щоб душа твоя благословила мене!“

32 І озвався до нього Ісак, його батько: „Хто ти?“ А той відказав: „Я син твій, — твій перворідний Ісав“.

33 І Ісак затремтів тремтінням аж надто великим, та й сказав: „Хто ж тоді той, що мисливську здобич зловив, і до мене приніс, а я попоїв від усього, поки прийшов ти, і я поблагословив його? І він буде благослове́нний!“

34 Як Ісав почув слова́ батька свого, то закричав криком сильним та вельми гірким. І сказав він до батька свого: „Поблагослови мене, — також мене, батьку мій!“

35 А той відказав: „Обманом прийшов був твій брат, та й забрав благослове́ння твоє!“

36 І промовив Ісав: „Тому звалось ім'я́ його: Яків, і він обманив два рази мене: забрав перворідство моє, а це тепер забрав благослове́ння моє“. І сказав він: „Чи ти не заховав для мене благослове́ння?“

37 А Ісак відповів і промовив до Ісава: „Тож я вчинив його паном для тебе, та дав йому всіх братів його за рабів. І я забезпечив його хлібом і молодим вином. А що ж тоді тобі я зроблю́, сину мій?“

38 І сказав Ісав до батька свого: „Чи в тебе одне те благослове́ння, батьку мій? Поблагослови мене, — також мене, батьку мій!“ І підніс Ісав голос свій, та й заплакав...

39 І відповів Ісак, батько його, та й промовив до нього: „Ото буде сади́ба твоя без ситости землі, і без роси небесної згори.

40 І зо свого меча будеш жити, і будеш служити ти брату своєму. Та однако коли постараєшся, то зламаєш ярмо його з шиї своєї...“

41 І знена́видів Ісав Якова через благослове́ння, що поблагословив його батько його. І сказав Ісав у серці своєму: „Нехай наближаться дні жало́би по батьку моєму, — і я вб'ю Якова, брата свого“.

42 І розказано Ревеці слова Ісава, її старшого сина. І послала, і покликала Якова, молодшого сина свого, та й сказала до нього: „Ось Ісав, брат твій, тішиться тим, що уб'є тебе.

43 А тепер, сину мій, послухай мого голосу, — і встань, і втечи собі до Лавана, брата мого, до Харану.

44 І посидиш у нього кілька ча́су, аж поки відвернеться лютість твого брата,

45 аж поки відвернеться гнів твого брата від тебе, і він забуде, що́ ти зробив був йому. Тоді я пошлю й заберу́ тебе звідти. Чого маю я стратити вас обох одного дня?“

13 І сказала йому його мати: „На мені прокляття твоє, сину мій! Тільки послухай слів моїх, та йди принеси мені“.

22 І підійшов Яків до Ісака, батька свого. А той обмацав його та й сказав: „Голос — голос Яковів, а руки — руки Ісавові“.

23 And he discerned5234 him not,3808 because3588 his hands3027 were1961 hairy,8163 as his brother251 Esau's6215 hands:3027 so he blessed1288 him.

23 І не впізнав він його, бо були́ його руки — як руки Ісава, брата його, волохаті, і поблагословив він його.

24 And he said,559 Art thou859 my very2088 son1121 Esau?6215 And he said,559 I589 am.

24 І сказав він: „То ти син мій Ісав?“ А той відказав: „Я“.

25 And he said,559 Bring it near5066 to me, and I will eat398 of my son's1121 venison,4480 6718 that4616 my soul5315 may bless1288 thee. And he brought it near5066 to him, and he did eat:398 and he brought935 him wine,3196 and he drank.8354

25 І промовив Ісак: „Подай же мені, і нехай з'їм з мисливської здо́бичі сина мого, щоб поблагословила тебе душа моя“. І подав він йому, і він їв, і приніс йому вина, і він пив.

26 And his father1 Isaac3327 said559 unto413 him, Come near5066 now,4994 and kiss5401 me, my son.1121

26 І промовив до нього Ісак, його батько: „Підійди ж, і поцілуй мене, сину мій!“

27 And he came near,5066 and kissed5401 him: and he smelled7306 853 the smell7381 of his raiment,899 and blessed1288 him, and said,559 See,7200 the smell7381 of my son1121 is as the smell7381 of a field7704 which834 the LORD3068 hath blessed: 1288

27 І він підійшов, і поцілував його. А той понюхав запах вбрання його, і поблагословив його, та й сказав: „Дивись, запах сина мого — немов запах поля, що його Господь благословив!

28 Therefore God430 give5414 thee of the dew4480 2919 of heaven,8064 and the fatness4924 of the earth,776 and plenty7230 of corn1715 and wine: 8492

28 І хай Бог тобі дасть з роси Неба, і з ситости землі, і збіжжя багато й вина молодого!

29 Let people5971 serve5647 thee, and nations3816 bow down7812 to thee: be1933 lord1376 over thy brethren,251 and let thy mother's517 sons1121 bow down7812 to thee: cursed779 be every one that curseth779 thee, and blessed1288 be he that blesseth1288 thee.

29 Нехай тобі служать наро́ди, і народи нехай тобі кланяються! Будь паном для бра́ттів своїх, і нехай тобі кланяються сини матері твоєї. Хто тебе проклинає — прокля́тий, а хто поблагосло́вить тебе — благослове́нний!“

30 And it came to pass,1961 as soon as834 Isaac3327 had made an end3615 of blessing1288 853 Jacob,3290 and Jacob3290 was1961 yet389 scarce gone out3318 3318 from4480 854 the presence6440 of Isaac3327 his father,1 that Esau6215 his brother251 came in935 from his hunting.4480 6718

30 І сталося, як закінчив був Ісак благословляти Якова, і сталося, тільки но вийшов був Яків від обличчя Ісака, батька свого, аж Ісав, його брат, прийшов з полюва́ння свого.

31 And he1931 also1571 had made6213 savory meat,4303 and brought935 it unto his father,1 and said559 unto his father,1 Let my father1 arise,6965 and eat398 of his son's1121 venison,4480 6718 that5668 thy soul5315 may bless1288 me.

31 І також він приготовив наїдок смачний, і батьку своєму приніс. І сказав він до батька свого: „Нехай встане мій батько, і хай їсть із здобичі мисливської сина свого, щоб душа твоя благословила мене!“

32 And Isaac3327 his father1 said559 unto him, Who4310 art thou?859 And he said,559 I589 am thy son,1121 thy firstborn1060 Esau.6215

32 І озвався до нього Ісак, його батько: „Хто ти?“ А той відказав: „Я син твій, — твій перворідний Ісав“.

33 And Isaac3327 trembled2729 very exceedingly,2731 1419 5704 3966 and said,559 Who?4310 where645 is he1931 that hath taken6679 venison,6718 and brought935 it me, and I have eaten398 of all4480 3605 before2962 thou camest,935 and have blessed1288 him? yea,1571 and he shall be1961 blessed.1288

33 І Ісак затремтів тремтінням аж надто великим, та й сказав: „Хто ж тоді той, що мисливську здобич зловив, і до мене приніс, а я попоїв від усього, поки прийшов ти, і я поблагословив його? І він буде благослове́нний!“

34 And when Esau6215 heard8085 853 the words1697 of his father,1 he cried6817 with a great1419 and5704 exceeding3966 bitter4751 cry,6818 and said559 unto his father,1 Bless1288 me, even me589 also,1571 O my father.1

34 Як Ісав почув слова́ батька свого, то закричав криком сильним та вельми гірким. І сказав він до батька свого: „Поблагослови мене, — також мене, батьку мій!“

35 And he said,559 Thy brother251 came935 with subtlety,4820 and hath taken away3947 thy blessing.1293

35 А той відказав: „Обманом прийшов був твій брат, та й забрав благослове́ння твоє!“

36 And he said,559 Is not he rightly3588 named7121 8034 Jacob?3290 for he hath supplanted6117 me these2088 two times:6471 he took away3947 853 my birthright;1062 and, behold,2009 now6258 he hath taken away3947 my blessing.1293 And he said,559 Hast thou not3808 reserved680 a blessing1293 for me?

36 І промовив Ісав: „Тому звалось ім'я́ його: Яків, і він обманив два рази мене: забрав перворідство моє, а це тепер забрав благослове́ння моє“. І сказав він: „Чи ти не заховав для мене благослове́ння?“

37 And Isaac3327 answered6030 and said559 unto Esau,6215 Behold,2005 I have made7760 him thy lord,1376 and all3605 his brethren251 have I given5414 to him for servants;5650 and with corn1715 and wine8492 have I sustained5564 him: and what4100 shall I do6213 now645 unto thee, my son?1121

37 А Ісак відповів і промовив до Ісава: „Тож я вчинив його паном для тебе, та дав йому всіх братів його за рабів. І я забезпечив його хлібом і молодим вином. А що ж тоді тобі я зроблю́, сину мій?“

38 And Esau6215 said559 unto413 his father,1 Hast thou but one259 blessing,1293 my father?1 bless1288 me, even me589 also,1571 O my father.1 And Esau6215 lifted up5375 his voice,6963 and wept.1058

38 І сказав Ісав до батька свого: „Чи в тебе одне те благослове́ння, батьку мій? Поблагослови мене, — також мене, батьку мій!“ І підніс Ісав голос свій, та й заплакав...

39 And Isaac3327 his father1 answered6030 and said559 unto413 him, Behold,2009 thy dwelling4186 shall be1961 the fatness4480 4924 of the earth,776 and of the dew4480 2919 of heaven8064 from above;4480 5920

39 І відповів Ісак, батько його, та й промовив до нього: „Ото буде сади́ба твоя без ситости землі, і без роси небесної згори.

40 And by5921 thy sword2719 shalt thou live,2421 and shalt serve5647 thy brother;251 and it shall come to pass1961 when834 thou shalt have the dominion,7300 that thou shalt break6561 his yoke5923 from off4480 5921 thy neck.6677

40 І зо свого меча будеш жити, і будеш служити ти брату своєму. Та однако коли постараєшся, то зламаєш ярмо його з шиї своєї...“

41 And Esau6215 hated7852 853 Jacob3290 because of5921 the blessing1293 wherewith834 his father1 blessed1288 him: and Esau6215 said559 in his heart,3820 The days3117 of mourning60 for my father1 are at hand;7126 then will I slay2026 853 my brother251 Jacob.3290

41 І знена́видів Ісав Якова через благослове́ння, що поблагословив його батько його. І сказав Ісав у серці своєму: „Нехай наближаться дні жало́би по батьку моєму, — і я вб'ю Якова, брата свого“.

42 And853 these words1697 of Esau6215 her elder1419 son1121 were told5046 to Rebekah:7259 and she sent7971 and called7121 Jacob3290 her younger6996 son,1121 and said559 unto413 him, Behold,2009 thy brother251 Esau,6215 as touching thee, doth comfort himself,5162 purposing to kill2026 thee.

42 І розказано Ревеці слова Ісава, її старшого сина. І послала, і покликала Якова, молодшого сина свого, та й сказала до нього: „Ось Ісав, брат твій, тішиться тим, що уб'є тебе.

43 Now6258 therefore, my son,1121 obey8085 my voice;6963 and arise,6965 flee1272 thou to413 Laban3837 my brother251 to Haran;2771

43 А тепер, сину мій, послухай мого голосу, — і встань, і втечи собі до Лавана, брата мого, до Харану.

44 And tarry3427 with5973 him a few259 days,3117 until5704 834 thy brother's251 fury2534 turn away;7725

44 І посидиш у нього кілька ча́су, аж поки відвернеться лютість твого брата,

45 Until5704 thy brother's251 anger639 turn away7725 from4480 thee, and he forget7911 853 that which834 thou hast done6213 to him: then I will send,7971 and fetch3947 thee from thence:4480 8033 why4100 should I be deprived7921 also1571 of you both8147 in one259 day?3117

45 аж поки відвернеться гнів твого брата від тебе, і він забуде, що́ ти зробив був йому. Тоді я пошлю й заберу́ тебе звідти. Чого маю я стратити вас обох одного дня?“

46 And Rebekah7259 said559 to413 Isaac,3327 I am weary6973 of my life2416 because4480 6440 of the daughters1323 of Heth:2845 if518 Jacob3290 take3947 a wife802 of the daughters4480 1323 of Heth,2845 such as these428 which are of the daughters4480 1323 of the land,776 what good4100 shall my life2416 do me?

46 І сказала Ревека Ісакові: „Життя мені обридло через дочок Хетових. Коли Яків візьме жінку з дочок Хетових, як ці, з дочок цього Краю, то нащо й жити мені?“
