第11章

1 昔天下億兆，言語皆同，

2 自東以徙。至於示拿，見有平原居焉。

3 彼此互論曰：“共相陶瓦爇之以火，於是有瓦以代石，更有石油，以代泥沙，

4 又曰：“共相建邑，經營層臺，高及霄漢，名藉以揚，庶免四方散處。

5 耶和華臨格，觀衆所築之邑臺，

6 曰：“民弗異族，言弗殊音，今已有此作爲，其後烏能底止？

7 我儕臨格，淆其言語，使彼此不通。

8 遂散之四方，於是罷築城之役。

9 緣耶和華淆億兆之言語，散之四方，故名其邑曰巴別〔巴別義即混亂之義〕。

10 閃之裔如左：洪水後二年，閃方百歲，生亞法撒。

11 其後歷五百年，復生子女，

12 亞法撒三十五歲，生撒拉，

13 其後歷四百有三年，復生子女。

14 撒拉三十歲，生希百。

15 其後歷四百有三年，復生子女。

16 希百三十四歲，生法勒。

17 其後歷四百三十年，復生子女。

18 法勒三十歲，生拉苟。

19 其後歷二百有九年，復生子女，

20 拉苟三十二歲，生撒鹿。

21 其後歷二百有七年，復生子女。

22 撒鹿三十歲，生拿鶴。

23 其後歷二百年，復生子女，

24 拿鶴二十九歲，生他拉，

25 其後歷一百一十九年，復生子女。

26 他拉七十歲，生亞伯蘭、拿鶴、哈蘭。

27 他拉之裔如左：他拉生亞伯蘭、拿鶴、哈蘭，哈蘭生羅得。

28 死於故土，卽迦勒底之耳邑，其時父他拉尙在，

29 亞伯蘭、拿鶴咸娶室，亞伯蘭妻撒勑，拿鶴妻密迦、密迦曁以士迦，俱哈蘭之女。

30 撒勑不姙故無出。

31 他拉挈其子亞伯蘭，及孫羅得，卽哈蘭子並其媳，卽亞伯蘭妻撒勑，咸出迦勒底之耳邑，欲往迦南，至於哈蘭居焉。

32 他拉享壽二百有五歲。終於哈蘭。

Genesis

Chapter 11

1 NOW the whole earth spoke one language and with one manner of speech.

2 And it came to pass, as men journeyed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Sinar; and they settled there.

3 And they said one to another, Come, let us make bricks and burn them with fire. And they had bricks for stone, and slime for mortar.

4 Then they said, Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top may reach to heaven; and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which men were building.

6 And the LORD said, Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and they have reasoned to do this thing; and now nothing will prevent them from doing that which they have imagined to do.

7 Come, let us go down, and there divide their language so that they may not understand one another's speech.

8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there upon the face of all the earth; and they ceased from building the city.

9 Therefore they called the name of it Babel; because it was there that the LORD confounded the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them upon the face of all the earth.

10 These are the descendants of Shem: Shem was a hundred years old, and begot Arphakhashar, two years after the flood;

11 And Shem lived after he begot Arphakhashar five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

12 And Arphakhashar lived thirty-five years, and begot Shalah;

13 And Arphakhashar lived after he begot Shalah four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters.

14 And Shalah lived thirty years, and begot Eber;

15 And Shalah lived after he begot Eber four hundred and three years, and begot sons and daughters.

16 And Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg:

17 And Eber lived after he begot Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters.

18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Rau;

19 And Peleg lived after he begot Rau two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.

20 And Rau lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug;

21 And Rau lived after he begot Serug two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.

22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor;

23 And Serug lived after he begot Nahor two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

24 And Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah;

25 And Nahor lived after he begot Terah one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters.

26 And Terah lived seventy-five years, and begot Abram, manor, and Haran.

27 Now these are the descendants of Terah: Terah begot Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begot Lot.

28 And Haran died before his father Terah in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

29 And Abram and Nahor took wives for themselves; the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and Iscah.

30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan: and they came as far as Haran, and they settled there.

32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; and Terah died in Haran.

16 希百三十四歲，生法勒。	16 And Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg:
17 其後歷四百三十年，復生子女。	17 And Eber lived after he begot Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters.
18 法勒三十歲，生拉苟。	18 And Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Rau;
19 其後歷二百有九年，復生子女，	19 And Peleg lived after he begot Rau two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.
20 拉苟三十二歲，生撒鹿。	20 And Rau lived thirty-two years, and begot Serug;
21 其後歷二百有七年，復生子女。	21 And Rau lived after he begot Serug two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.
22 撒鹿三十歲，生拿鶴。	22 And Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor;
23 其後歷二百年，復生子女，	23 And Serug lived after he begot Nahor two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.
24 拿鶴二十九歲，生他拉，	24 And Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah;
25 其後歷一百一十九年，復生子女。	25 And Nahor lived after he begot Terah one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters.
26 他拉七十歲，生亞伯蘭、拿鶴、哈蘭。	26 And Terah lived seventy-five years, and begot Abram, manor, and Haran.
